I have been a customer for the last 17 years. Usually the bakery is fresh and very good. My husband brought home a box of baked goods for Mothers Day brunch. All of the baked items were old , dry or burned The morning glory muffins were burned black and dry , the chocolate sheet cake and cupcakes were several days if not weeks old. The Ginger and peanut butter cookies were also several days old. The scones we heated and they were tasty with coffee. If we hadn't heated them, they too would have been inedible. I've been to Bear Moon a couple of times for coffee and a donut, but never have sat down to eat breakfast there till this morning. The seating area was cramped to the point of being uncomfortable. The buffet was set up where the wait staff had to keep running through the line to get to the kitchen. And then there was the food.... Definitely a disappointment. I was expecting fresh scrambled eggs and fixings. The eggs seemed to be from that powdered nasty stuff and nothing else was notable except for the strange tasting syrup on my husband's french toast. I was extremely disappointed and will not be going back.... At least not for breakfast! read more

After being sat outside with bees flying and swarming us... we waited 10 minutes before being waited on outside. You can't modify anything on their small over priced menu. After offering, the waitress returns and tells us she took too long to get our pastry and they sold out. Then she dumps scalding hot coffee onto my lap. Needless to say, we walked out. I thought the prices were pretty fair for the portions and quality and they let me finish my street beer inside which I appreciated. My mom and I had breakfast here on a Friday morning, about 10:00 a.m. The buffet was full of delicious, hot scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy, sausage, bacon, and french toast just to name a few items. I went to this place because everyone raved about it having the best sandwiches. I think for a local mom and pop cafe the food isn't bad but it can be better. I ordered the half soup and sandwich was was good but the portions weren't what I expected. The soup was a nice size bowl and it was tasty but the sandwich was small and wasn't what I expected. Their coffees are very strong so if you're not a coffee drinker then I'd stick to one shot of espresso vs. two like I had. I drank the coffee at 3pm and couldn't sleep the entire night so I'm pretty physically and mentally exhausted as I write this review. I've heard good things about their pastries and they do seem really busy with people waiting in line for those. I think I'll go back to try their pastries but I'd rather go to Boerne Grill for the coffee. read more

Ever popular bakery in the heart of Boerne. Their specialty is the "Piggie", a pig-in-blanket made with sausage and they have a jalapeno option that go quickly. The rest of the pastries are fresh and they make decent coffee. Good place to start your day. read more

Bear moon cafe is half cafe and half bakery. I love the baked goods here and have always been so happy with the selection and service behind the bakery counter. The cafe part leaves little to be desired. My mom and I came in for an early Saturday morning breakfast. I ordered a breakfast sandwich and a coke and she just had a pastry. 30 minutes later I still hadnt received my sandwich. The cafe part was only half full and to wait over 30 minutes for an egg sandwich was painful. To add insult to injury, when we received our bill the can of coke they brought me ended up being $2.80! When is a can of coke EVER that expensive anywhere. I will return to the bakery but never to the cafe portion. read more

Waitress ran my credit card with the wrong ticket and now my bank account is stuck with a pending charge. They said they voided this but it's been several days. I'm going to have to call and get this resolved. This is a huge mistake by this business. I don't recommend this place. read more

Having never eaten a meal here (I know they serve at least brunch), I'll only comment on the phenomenal baked goods. All are flaky and dense, moist and buttery. The pan au chocolat is a personal favourite, but their cookies are fantastic (bested only by those at Original Cheesecake) as are the bear claw things. They serve hot drinks so it's always nice when it's cool out to grab a latte and sit outside and enjoy a pastry. read more

I came in and was planning on a made to order breakfast. There was a long wait (40+ minutes) so a waitress suggested I sit outside. I was traveling alone so i didn't mind if it got me served more quickly. They had a buffet with a decent selection I had to forgo my over easy eggs for scrambled but it was faster so I opted for the buffet. The food was very good with all the usuals ( bacon,sausage, scrambled eggs...). Where they absolutely shine is in their pastries and breads. Biscuits were a 10/10. I did however order a 16oz latte with three shots specifically. I got a 12oz. I went to the counter and they promptly fixed it. All in all I enjoyed my breakfast al fresco. Their cinnamon rolls are to die for and big enough for 2. Their piggies are great. When they had a cake designer they had wonderful cakes. The last one I got was so so and not as I ordered and she actually refunded my money as I had taken a picture in with all of the instructions and it was like someone from Mars made it and looked nothing like the picture. It is always crowded and the food is fresh. We always take cinnamon rolls to Houston when we go as everyone loves them so much. I can't go in there anymore as I cannot do stairs and is is not anywhere close to being wheelchair accessible as it is in a very old building. Parking is very difficult. Several delicious fresh made items from donuts to cakes, breads, cookies, and their version of a devil dog. My neighbor Jerrid saw me and said hello and I was seated by the hostess in different section. My servers name was Matt. Very polite and helpful. Not much seating on the inside but just right for the wait for others was short. The menu is simple and clear, specials posted on the wall, and a breakfast buffet which I was told is served daily when open was being taken down. I ordered a lemonade, which is a small bottle of Simply Lemonade brand. Great as always. And noticed the Beef BBQ sandwich, and if you know me, I love BBQ, and I choose a Caesar salad as my side. Lemme tell ya something. Fresh tasting ciabatta roll loaded with brisket and what tasted like a handmade sweet sauce. WOWOWOWOWOWOW OOH WOW.. So great. Just love stopping in here each time I visit Boerne. Had the chipotle grilled cheese (mmmmm, mmmmm good!) and the garlic tomato soup. It was a perfect lunch before shopping around Boerne. The service was most excellent. We also each (parents and I) grabbed a treat from the case before leaving. I wish the ginger cookie had a lot more ginger (I prefer them spicier), but it was still good. Will most definately be back each time I make my way up to Boerne. We were visiting Boerne during their Dickens on Main event with friends. There were 9 of us in a group with a young child so our lunch goal was something simple and casual. We walked down Main street and found the Bear Moon Bakery. They had plenty of outdoor seating and the menu looked delicious. We received great service, the wait staff was very friendly and prompt. The menu had a variety of sandwiches and soups along with daily specials. I indulged in their Cuban Panini which was a great sandwich. There was a bit of a wait for our food, but with fresh ingredients and fresh bread it was well worth the wait. Prices were reasonable and I am sure we will be back. read more

I can only speak the items I have had, but Bear Moon has the best scones and the Rainforest Caramel coffee is great! I do pass on the buttermilk scones, but the others are very tasty. They also have a chipotle grilled cheese that you cannot beat. I, personally, am not a fan of their cookies, donuts, cakes, etc. Prices are a bit on the high side, but it is Boerne and everything tends to be overpriced. read more

Came here with my mom and kids when we were visiting over spring break. I'm usually a low-carb eater but every once in awhile I splurge. Nothing worse than wasting it on so-so baked goods. We were all really pleased here. We got a variety of treats to sample. The kids got sugar cookies (gobbled up), my two year old had a carrot cake cupcake- she loved it and I had a delicious bite. The cream cheese frosting was perfect and not sickeningly sweet like some are. Cake moist. My mom and I split a piece (huge) of chocolate "sheath cake" and a slice of apple pie. The chocolate cake was amazing. Kind of like Texas sheet cake but really thick. We ate every last crumb. The apple pie was also wonderful. Tasted fresh not like a freezer pie with canned apples. My son fought us for it. The restaurant was obviously popular and pretty full but we got a very nice table outside which is much better with small kids.
