We had a great experience during our lunch at Bear King. We sat out on the large patio with our dogs. I appreciated the water bowls available for the pups. Our food was very good and arrived quickly. We started with the Parmesan truffle fries. I'm not a truffle fan but the fries were krispy and the truffle wasn't too strong. My husband said the dip had more truffle flavor and he liked it. Since I don't care for truffle, I just stuck with the fries. We also had the beer cheese queso and liked it as well. I like that they offered half orders of both apps so we could try two. We stumbled across Bear King Brewing Co. as we were driving back to our lodgings. Here was a chance to stop for a cold one and a little taste of Texas with their Pimento Cheese appetizer. Both were great. I had a Wandering Blonde Ale, which was excellent. Light and refreshing, but with real flavor -- something often missing in a blonde ale. The Hubs had a Hazy Ale, which was crisp and had an almost grapefruity tang on the tongue. Being out-of-townersof the California persuation, we spotted pimento cheese on the menu and decided to give this southern staple a try. It was fantastic -- cheesy, garlicky, oniony, with a very slight spiciness to it. It's served with excellent ciabatta bread slices that have been grilled with olive oil, I think. The bread was great on its own, and the pimento cheese raised it to a whole new level of tastiness. I'd have happily ordered a second round of just the appetizer if dinner wasn't awaiting us elsewhere. They have a good happy hour M-Th from 4-6 where the beers were $2 off. The pimento cheese app was $5.50, the happy hour beers were $4 each (16 oz), so we got out of there for just $13. Great seating areas inside and out, too. Big fans in the large covered (non-smoking) patio made it a nice place to sit on an early evening. Pups are allowed on the patio if they're leashed at all times. All in all, this place really does it right -- good beer, good food, and great ambience. Can't ask for more than that. read more

The food is pretty decent here, I love their truffle fries! We used to go here a lot when they had this Hawaiian style burger, it had a pineapple bacon jam dressing on it, but they took it off! We are really sad about that. The service is pretty good, it does get challenging when it is super busy. There is a place to sit outside under a covered patio, you can watch TV or look out towards main street. The inside also has TV's you can drink your beer, eat your burger and watch the game. Nice brewpub in Marble Falls. Nice are to eat and drink, with a good mix of outdoor and indoor space (needed for the weather there). We stopped in in mid September and the weather was not too hot, but still sat inside. Liked the overall ambiance of the place. Crew there was nice and responsive to both questions and orders. I would say the beer was good, but not great. We had a couple of apps that were decent, but again nothing to write home about. The disappointing aspect to the night was that they were out of a fair amount of the beers, which should not be the case at a brewing company pub. We were in town for vacation and wanted to find a spot that was dog friendly. I sat down at a corner table outside while my husband went inside to let them know we were dining. A girl comes out and points to 3 tables and said any of these 3. I got up and moved. We were the only ones on the patio at the time. Not long after, someone else comes with their dog, and they sat right where I originally sat, and they weren't told to move. Weird but moving on. My husband ordered a burger, and I ordered a pulled pork sandwich. I ate half of mine. I wasn't a huge fan of it. He gave his a shot as well, but it was drenched in salt. He asked, "Am I overreacting, or is this really salty?" I tried a tiny piece, and it was super salty. He felt bad about asking if they could remake the burger. They did, and it was much better. I commend them for correcting it. However, I'm not sure how it came to pass to begin with. I'm sure the drinks are more satisfying but the food was a miss for us. read more

Great food, great beer, great service. Our go to spot in Marble Falls with or without kids. One thing is perplexing, though. My wife ordered a salad and chose to add the "fajita chicken" (The other option is "poached shrimp). The salad arrived with plain chicken- no seasoning whatsoever. When we asked the waitress she was confused and told us she had no idea. When we pressed her she asked us if we wanted her to ask the manager. "Sure", we replied. He was sitting at the bar with his head buried in his papers and didn't even look up when she spoke to him. She returned and said, "The manager told me the fajita chicken is just chicken without the fajita seasoning." I'm sorry- what?! That was it. That was his explanation. We all kind of stared at each other with our mouths hanging open but moved on and finished our lunch. This seems to me like a pretty easy fix. Either offer the chicken with fajita seasoning or don't call it fajita chicken. And don't let your servers parrot their manager's nonsense to customers. That's not fair. Tell him to grow a pair and come talk to us. (Yknow, the ones contributing to his paycheck?) I'm sure you don't want your customers pounding their heads on the table. That's not the look you're going for. But I love your beer though! read more

Just had the best breakfast at Bear King! Very big servings and all of us were beyond satisfied with our meals. The vibe is cool with indoor and outdoor seating areas. Super awesome food and a really fun atmosphere! We were able to get seats right away in the outdoor area, and we were greeted by our waiter not much later after that. The sweet tea is really good, and we started with some of the best cheese curds I've ever had. We ordered the full size wedge salad to share, as well as two burgers with fries, the Legendary One and the Lubbock. They came out super fast despite them being pretty busy both inside and outside, and they were some of the prettiest burgers I've ever seen, and even better to taste. While we didn't get any beer this time, trust that we'll be back to try some beer and more delicious burgers! read more

I've had guacamole tacos before and they are delicious but I should have known when it said avocado taco. The avocado was sliced, breaded then deep fat fried. The food and service were both terrific at this place. We decided to sample several things (Brussels sprouts, Potene fries, burgers, and wedge salad) and they were wonderful. However, if you don't care for much salt, ask them to leave it off and add your own. They sprinkle crunchy Kosher salt on top of everything and our bites often contained too much. Tried this place on a Monday early evening. Three of us ordered the truffle fries appetizer and then two persons had the chicken fajita tacos and one had the birria tacos. Service was friendly and quick. Drinks were fine and truffle fries were super good. Better than I expected - so that's a plus. The tacos were mixed. The chicken fajita tacos presented beautifully, pulled with lettuce, tomato, cheese, onion, etc.. but the chicken was absolutely flavorless. No seasoning, so sign of grilling, just cooked white chicken - my wife said "is it boiled?". This would be so easy to fix by marinating and seasoning but it was just so bland. The birria, by contrast, was super delicious. It's more minimal in presentation, but full of flavor. I ordered mine in the corn tortilla which they deep fry just a little. Comes with a consommé that has cilantro and onion in it. Totally great. So very mixed. Will go back to try the burgers as they looked great. But please guys, fix that chicken fajita so it tastes as good as it looks. read more

Bear King has a great local brewpub here! Glad I stopped in on my recent visit to the area. The selection of beers and food is not extensive, but has a good variety and is well executed. The beers run from a nice blonde to a few tasty stouts and even a barley wine... as well as the ever popular hopy beers. The food follows suits with a decent selection of burgers, tacos and some great appetizers. The poutine and the fajita tacos were a great standout and I would head ab ck just for those. The only constructive criticism I would offer is on tasters, they have a great flight available but apparently their system doesn't allow you to get (and pay for) a single taster, you can get a free splash or a half pour...but I wanted just a taster of the barley wine :). Maybe next time. To tie it all off, the staff here was super friendly and helpful and did a great job of keeping the tables cleared, the drinks filled and the food flowing. Keep it up y'all! Bear King Brewing not only produces some really good beer and their food is no slouch either. Sometimes breweries/restaurants aren't able to get the food/beer qualities on par with each other, but the Monkey Bridge Hefe I had was very good and refreshing. The food here is exceptional starting with the appetizers of Texas Poutine and Pimento Cheese Spread with grilled ciabatta bread to the Carnitas de Cali tacos. The Texas Poutine did not resemble a true Northern version, but the combination of fries, braised brisket, ancho cheddar gravy, and pico de gallo would impress anyone from Quebec!!! As for the pimento cheese...total WOW and having it on the grilled bread was an extra treat. The Carnitas tacos were delicious, nice heat, and great flavors.
