Really nice course. Moderate difficulty. Was really looking forward to a nice day of golf with my uncle from out of state. Got there about 20 mins early to putt and chip. Unfortunately the course marshal wouldn't allow us and made us tee off early. We ran about 10 mins behind par time which makes sense, we both don't gold too much. But the employees kept coming around reminding us to speed. Started off very promising. Beautiful day, nice course. Very rude and unfriendly course marshals. Doubt I'd return. Perhaps next time don't pack us in like sardines. read more

nice course in very good shape. great rate. I would definitely play this course again

Thanks employee Jim for helping us maneuver the course and having a great time. Don't understand why no drinking water along the course but the views were amazing. read more

This was my very first 18-hole course, so my rookie review is probably biased because I had a blast. My cousin is a regular here and loves it. We went on a Sunday morning and our tee-time at 9:10 was actually backed up with a few other parties waiting to start. The guy directing traffic was calm and very nice, and had us begin on the 6th hole. I had a blast, the drinks lady comes by quite often, and I didn't lose any balls. The only problem we had was when we eventually got back to do the first 5 holes, we had to wait about 20 minutes. Overall, this is a pretty nice joint. read more

Courses are awesome and always have great rates. The staff is always friendly and professional.

Nice muni course...easy on the wallet . Sundays are/were family days and with paid green fee your kid plays for free.

This is a wonderful place to play golf. There are two 18 hole courses- one is a challenging regulation course and the other is a fun and still challenging executive course with Par 4s and 3s. The staff (not only in the golf shop, but all involved) are very cordial, helpful and engaging. The fees are reasonable and again, the courses are well maintained. read more

This course is not worth the price to play. Greens are dirt and the fairways are always wet. NOT WORTH YOUR TIME OR MONEY

Had a great day playing golf. Very nice place to play on the cub course . Was very satisfied with the people who run the desk and those that directed our group to where we had to go to get started. The only grip I heard was the price for a pitcher of beer. 13.00 for a pitcher was something that will keep our group from playing there again. People working there in the restaurant area were nice and friendly. read more

We made a tee time for Sunday on the Cub course and it was a little slow at the start which was perfectly fine, The reason for the slow start was because it's family day on Sundays, which means with an adult a child gets to play at no charge. What an awesome program the ability to give back to the community while helping to build a relationship with new young golfers and to make it a family event with out breaking the bank. Thanks for the community involvement and the course up keep we had an awesome experience and my girlfriend new to the game made 3 pars in a row. a great day!! read more

Course is managed and set up like a muni. Fun track with a few challenging holes. My kind of course as it's designed for med handicappers and can produce a low round. 3 star rating for slow play, grouchy starters/rangers, and cold hotdogs. Same experience every time. Like I said, muni. read more

First off let me state that Bear Creek Golf Complex is amazing, and a great place to play a round of golf. However, I have been playing golf on the mens group for over 8 years and as a member I have never been so disturbed by what I witnessed from the course Superintent, Mark Dirtadian. While finishing up a round of golf the other day I was heading back to my car to load up. As I loaded my vehicle I overheard a gentleman yelling and screaming at what appeared to be his staff members, with nothing but profanity and belligerent dialogue coming from his mouth with a lot of F bombs being heard. Im not sure that this meets the standards that Bear Creek has built their reputation on, but I know it's not right nor is this an establishment that I would want to be associated with. I am seriously reconsidering my long term relationship with Bear Creek Golf Complex. I believe a person like Mr. Dirtadian should NOT be employed by the way he treats and interacts with people in such a poor manner. Bear Creek is such an incredible establishment to get away from everyday life, not a place in which to deal with people demonstrating subpar work ethics and lousy interpersonal skills. read more

I have played Bear Creek many times the past 10 years...they have always had a friendly enough staff and, now, apparently a new greenskeeper from the past year or so...don't really know, has sharpened the venue quite well. As an avid golfer, I can say the course has never been better. One of the gents at the course explained they use a four seed variant for their fairways and they yield an excellent blend of playablity and 'roll'. They were top notch for certain. The greens have always been an issue for me, until now! They rivaled those of a Whirlwind or Ocotillo with just a touch less speed. Very nice indeed!! I'd give if a '5' but don't care for the lack of water stations along the course. When I'm ready for a drink..well, you get the idea! Ready to play again. read more

The Good: Decent rates, great practice facility, good greens most of the time and the course is usually in very good shape. Staff if friendly, too. This is a challenging track with a variety of holes. The Bad; No water on the course!!! This would get a 4-5 star rating if they showed a little common sense and put water on at least every other hole, especially during the summer. I understand the main reason they don't (afraid of contamination), but practically every other golf course I have played has figured out the simple solution of putting the water storage in a locked type cage. Surely they can figure this out! The Ugly: While the fairways and green are in good shape the in-between parts of the course looks unfinished, thus giving the course and "ugly" look. read more

The course is well kept and fun to play. However, I was very disappointed with the wait staff. The bartender that served us was extremely rude. The other staff were very courteous. I am disappointed with the bartender. read more

This place doesn't even deserve 1 star. A golf course in Arizona that doesn't have any water on to drink in the summer, must be ran by some of the most incompetent people in the world. They are very worried about people bringing on their own booze but don't care about their customers comfort. It took 5 hours for me and one other person to finish a round and didn't see the pace ranger once. If I didn't have a gift card for here I would never come again and truly hope nothing but the worst for this course. read more

Service is good and friendly. Best Patty Melt in the valley. Careful on hours of service, they close up shop too early. Nice view of the golf course and 4 Peaks read more

Okay, I live about 3 miles from it, and there's gotta be ten golf courses in a five mile radius of my house. Now suffice it to say, I'm not a golf snob. I like the game, but I'm not interested in dealing with arrogant rich people who take themselves or the game seriously. I just like getting out in the lush green, whacking the ball around (I refer to my game as Caveman Golf) and puttering around in the golf cart. And for that, this place is perfect. Low attitude, no dress code, and a short executive course that lets you do 18 holes in 2:30 or nine in 90 minutes. There's a regulation 18-hole course too. Neither one offers breathtaking vistas...we're talking middle-class golf here. You want hoity-toidy, go to Ocotillo or Scottsdale (and I do, when I want that). But this is your everyman, weekday, got a couple of hours to kill, low-cost but not too crappy, well-maintained golf course. For the price, you can't beat it. read more

I am a handicapped veteran. This is my second time coming to this course. The first time I played, I played with a group of older white guys (who were cool as ice in the winter) and we had handicapped flags. Had a great time. The whole day no one asked us about our disabilities. Round was great. Fast forward to 3/5/16 (today). I had my handicap flag on my cart and was playing with my brother. We were on a hole and the cart girl stops her cart and asks us what in the hell were we doing with an attitude. I advised her that I have a handicap flag and what the hell do you mean. We exchanged a few words then she had the nerve to say, "I bet that injury is fake." It took everything in my power to keep from cursing her out. I replied though and said when you do the things I have done serving this country, then talk to me. Now fast forward to the back nine. My brother and I see the cart girl and she stopped and talked to another employee that has the player helper (or something to that effect) flag. He then comes over to us and makes small talk and then asked me what my handicap was. At first, I thought he meant about golf, then realized he was asking me about my actual disability. I told him Army stuff. He probably did not understand but he said been there done that. So, A, I guess the staff are medical personnel that can cure my disability, or B, they ask everybody who plays that uses a handicapped flag what is their disability, or C, they were being pretty racist. Yes, I am an American (who is black) and I have served my country and my community (retired police officer)! I should not have to be subject to the humility and racism that I was subject to today. Yes, it was only a round of golf, but, it is the principle of the negative and racist interaction. I am very intelligent, so the second conversation was completely unnecessary. Funny, I was thinking about making that my favorite course. It is a nice course. After the interaction, you can have it. The rest of the staff was pretty friendly and professional. If it was not for the racist interaction, this would be a great place to play. This is in response to your response (Sherri). First, I never use my service as a crutch. Second, you never said thanks for your service. Third, you had an attitude when you said what the hell are you doing. Fourth, you need glasses because no one was driving reckless. When I ride in a cart I always have my leg hanging out and my brother happened to ride over a rough area. As far as your job, you serve beverages and snacks, and you are there to assist players on the course. The way you approach people is pretty offensive. I kept a very professional bearing as I did with my professions. Yes it appeared to be pretty racist because no one said anything to me when I played the time prior with older white gentlemen. Do you question everyone about their disability. It had to have been an issue because the guy you were talking to on the back nine approached me after talking with you for at least ten plus minutes and asked me what is my handicap. My disability is none of your business or the other guy that approached me. I was highly upset that you questioned my disability. It is none of your business. I have been playing golf since 1992 and have never seen anyone do what you did. It was not BS, it was your attitude that struck a nerve. It is funny that you say I had an attitude, but then contradict yourself and say I did not show that I was upset. If I was upset and wanted to show it you would have gotten in your cart and sped off. I don't disrespect women because of the way I was raised. You are still someones daughter, wife, mother, or sister. I never acted like I was entitled to anything. Would you ask a white guy out of the blue and have an attitude (in a scalding manner) "What the hell are you doing!?" I do not think so. I will give you the benefit of the doubt and say you just present yourself in that manner and that is how you interact with people. To me it is unprofessional. Let me reiterate, since I played with white guys the last time, no staff member asked me what was my disability. Also, you have no idea what I have been through so never say that I have a chip on my shoulder because you do not know me. If you had been professional from the start and said hey guys, it appears that you were driving a little reckless, I would have told you sorry it appears that way to you, but, we drove over a rough area. read more

Thanks to the d b "I'm the general manager" for yelling at me and my uncle in a moving cart. HEY HEY! HEY! Screaming at us. Not quite the way to approach someone on your course. We will not be back and will advise all golf buddies to avoid spending money at the course and bar on a weekly basis. Thanks for scaring the crap out of us. Yes we took the cart in the dirt. Guilty. You didn't need to be a fool. We sincerely hope you don't treat all your off roaders like this. read more

Bear Creek is a course I have driven by many times. There are so many courses in the east valley I see but never play. This course was affordable. 32 for an early tee time, a cart, and a drink and breakfast burrito on the fourth of july. The club house was very nice and large. The pro shop was on the smaller side but very very friendly staff. The course itself is pretty wide open with rolling hills. A lot of long reeds for the rough. The course plays very nicely. Not super hard but still very challenging. This is a great course for those who like to play nicer courses but the game isn't life or death to them. Not a lot of pompous attitude here. I really like to golf but tend to prefer courses like this. Real nice course real nice people good value. The course was very well manicured and the players are very good at sanding or repairing divots in the fairway and especially the greens. The traps are really nice with very soft sand. Drinks from the cart were in expensive and the cart woman was genuine and very very nice. I will play here again. My only issue was the starter. He seemed a little ticked off that I was at the tee early for my tee time but gave a wonderful description of the course, the markers, the cart rules and amenities. Overall a nice course for good players who want to lower handicap, average players who won't get intimidated by a super hard course, and beginners who can play the championship course or the shorter executive course. read more

This place is horrible.... Golf in the Arizona summer with no water on the course. The drink girl said last call at noon with an 11:30 tee time. Course was in rough shape to start with. Other golfers skipping holes and randomly jumping in front of our group. This was by far my worst golf day experience ever!! Never pay money to play here, matter of fact never golf here for free. read more

We had a foursome at this course on Sunday, January 21. Tees and Fairways were good. Bunker sand was not good. Thin amount of sand and in quite a few area the sand was compacted. However, the very bad part was that numerous greens were very poorly maintained. It looked like the greens had been scalped and then did not regrow. There were many green areas that had lots of sand on the putting surface--not playable. There were many greens that had numerous areas where you were putting over patches of black dirt. As a result of poor grass on putting greens, balls would not hold well on the greens. When chipping balls rolled out very inconsistently as ball would go thru sand, grass, black hard pack dirt, etc. Cannot recommend this course until they are committed to fixing the greens. read more

AJ Greff was so curtious n helpful on our golf outing! Course was in excellent shape, good food, full bar A+

Solid muni course. Nothing too exciting, but it is a good if you don't have high expectations. The driving range and practice facilities are very nice. It is nice that they have 2 18-hole courses, an executive and full 18. Both courses have been in nice shape. Greens are a bit slow, but overall a good course. read more

First time playing Bear Creek. Played in late April and the course was in very nice condition. The tees, fairways and greens were green and nicely groomed. We played at a "non-prime" time so green fees were very affordable. My only complaint is that several holes have very hard dirt and rocks (no grassy rough) off the fairway, but this is not unusual for courses in the desert of Phoenix, especially at this price point. Beautiful course and will definitely play again! read more

It is what it is, a very nice muni course. Do not compare it to the upper end / expensive courses in the area. The course itself was in great shape, no dead spots or bad fairways. The greens too slow for my taste but smooth. The bunkers were much nicer than you would expect from a muni. The course actually had a bit of a links style to it. Imagine that, links style here in the desert. You could putt the ball from the fairways on to the greens. The fairways and tee boxes were very close to each other, hence the muni feel. I was by myself and followed a twosome the whole way. I still played in about 3 hours. Again, it is not a 4 star resort course. It is however a solid 4 to 5 star muni, one of the best I have played. read more

Played here last week (4/6/12). First time out at this golf course and I was amazed by how big this place is. They have 36-holes, Bear course and Cub course. The Cub course is designed for beginners, but still can be a good iron practice for everyone. I played the Bear course by myself and played in it about 3 hours. I liked the overall layout of the course, some challenge holes and some birdie holes. The course was in good condition and the price to play Friday afternoon was only $35. read more

This post is in response to recent review and it is my own personal response and does not reflect the opinions of the golf course. I am completely appalled at the review the person gave on yelp regarding my "attitude" on the golf course. I pulled up on 8 and the two gentlemen were driving reckless through the desert and bouncing all around in the cart on their way to the green. I stopped my cart and watched them and waited for them, (because that's my job to see if anybody needs anything) the passenger says, "What? I have a handicap flag - pointing to his leg". They were laughing and joking commenting several times about the flag. I said, "well it looks like you guys are out there riding rodeo".. ha ha ha we all laughed. Both gentlemen had a very good attitude laughing and smiling - when he got out of the cart to purchase a Gatorade I asked what was the brace on his leg for? I jokingly commented that it is probably fake so he could ride all over the golf course... haha we all laughed again, then I said, again, really - what did you do to your leg? - making small talk. He told me it was from jumping out of planes that he was in the military. When he came up to pay, I told him "thank you for your service". As I do to all military. When I saw them again, I smiled and waved and did a roping motion with my arm, as I was roping in a rodeo- they were smiling and laughing again waving back - ha ha ha. His ludicrous remarks about me being a racist and comments about my disrespect for his military service are absolute and complete BS. My father served in World War II as a Marine and then Korea in the Army. My brother served as a Marine in Viet Nam. My father nor my brother never used their military service for having a bad attitude or to carry around a chip on their shoulder expecting everyone to know what they have done for this country - as this gentlemen certainly did. If this gentlemen was upset, he hid it pretty well. I am sorry if he did not have a good time but I treated this person no differently that I would any other person, military or not, regardless of race and/or color. I am polite, considerate and think I'm funny. My father fought for our freedom to do and say what we please - and its sad that gentlemen uses that freedom as a crutch to disrespect other people and feel entitled. I am sorry this gentlemen did no have a good time it was not my intent. read more

I so wanted to rate this a great course because it's a fun course and I would with the exception of one of the course rangers, George. A couple of my girlfriends and I were having fun on the second green when he came up and asked us if we had played golf before. We assured him that we had but that we hadn't played in a few months and would need to get the hang of it again. He then confronted us again at the Hole 4 tee box and told us we should go play their "cub course" and he would refund our money bc we were holding people up. There was NO ONE behind us!!! I couldn't help but feel that if we weren't women, these words would have never been spoken to us. Plenty of men were shanking shots left and right and taking their nice sweet time, but George singled us out. I can say I will never return again return to Bear Creek to play again. It's a shame bc I plan on playing every couple of weeks from now on but I refuse to play a course were I will be harassed by a sexist. If you're a woman, skip this course and spend your money elsewhere!! read more

Let me tell you about my experience at Bear Creek this Saturday afternoon. I get to the clubhouse around 4:45pm to pay and tee off. I ask how long I have aka when the cart should be back in. I am rudely and unprofessionally told it must be in by 7:10 which is 10 minutes before the sun even sets. Odd but whatever. Get through the front 9 in about an hour......head to the pro shop for a mid-round soda and snack. Only problem is the pro shop bar/food is closed at 5:45pm on a Saturday. Head back out to finish my round, get to hole 16 and the pin is pulled. The pin is pulled at 6:45 which is over 30 minutes before sunset. Pull up to the worker pulling the pins to let him know I am on hole 16. He proclaims "It is getting dark (35 minutes prior to sunset), I was told to pull them," and speeds off with no further explanation. Can't really play without the pins so I head back to the clubhouse and am greeted by the same unprofessional staff member from earlier..........ask him why the pins are being pulled....he mumbles something inaudible and shuts the door. This isn't the first time I have had an unfortunate encounter with a Bear Creek staff far too eager to get home. There are over 200 golf courses in Maricopa County. I urge you to try elsewhere. read more
