The Summer conditions at the cub course leave much to be desired. Understandably it's July, but this short course was full of mud and not worth the price you pay even though it's the lesser of the two. If you are a beginner or looking for a quick practice round this is fine, but don't think that you should be using this as any true test of your golf game. The range is under renovation until September 1, 2026 so there's nowhere to warm up or practice beforehand. read more

The Cub course is in great shape right now!! Highly recommend playing golf here and grab a patty melt after- it was delicious! Also bring your score card after the round you get a beer for 1 cent per stroke. read more

They have 2 courses here, both are decent courses. The Bear course is their traditional 18 holes and their Cub course is their short course. Overall, not overly challenging courses and pretty straightforward holes/layout. There isn't a lot of trees here so you can get away with errant shots and still shoot a good round. Greens are usually in good condition. Definitely a course to potentially go low! Most recently played the Cub course this past weekend. Was disappointed in the condition, especially with it being almost peak golf season here in AZ and the cost of the round. Majority of the holes don't even have a cart path, bare/dead spots on the fairways and around the greens as well. Pace of play was good, which was nice. Played with someone new to golf and it was a good introduction course with the length and very straight holes. The par 4s were sprinkled in nicely. It's a good course to work on your short game and bring beginners. They do have a small pro shop, driving range, practice greens, and bar/restaurant. The staff seemed very nice and helpful. There is a cart girl as well. Overall, it's a decent local Chandler course. read more

Bear Creek golf course is a solid local facility. The staff is nice and accommodating. They have good bar service, and I recommend the hot dog at the turn. The golf course is in fairly good shape but for the price it is worth it. I enjoy hitting the driving range 1-2 times per week and I recommend by the range ball card. They track it at the register, and it offers significant discounts. They have a zero-tolerance policy for Seattle Seahawk fans (Just kidding). read more

Pro shop not helpful after your round. Booked online at one rate and charged a higher rate at the pro shop. I was not cognizant of the upcharge at the course. Called same day when I checking charges to my credit card. Called and got the run around. I was told to call the pro shop to check the rate I saw online. It's there website. Seems fishy. read more

BC Golf has two courses that reflect an open golf links design. Employees are very personable. BC struggles with maintenance. Parking lot is dirty/ trashy. Carts are not cleaned. Course is often over watered, has muddy areas that never seem to get repaired, overwatering/ festering ponds that aren't drained. Greens are cut short but there is no attention to repairing ball marks, nor any effort to place flags or cut holes correctly, making them difficult to play. Tee boxes are un-level and no effort by staff or players to repair divots or re-sand. The range is now mostly dirt (used to be all grass) and only a few targets. Range balls are old and often damaged. BC does not seem to have any understanding of golf maintenance best practices (free to watch on youtube) which cost them nothing to follow. BC is a course that has not been effectively maintained for many years (I have played there on and off since 2004) and its disappointing to see the courses deteriorate. Definitely not a recommend especially given the prices (doubled in the last 5-7 years). Play elsewhere for the money. Golf has gotten very expensive. read more

Not that bad of a course, diffidently wide open. You will get to know a lot of rabbits in the desert area by first name bases. The turf is pretty hard and thin. Some of the holes are very fun, and their part three's play longer then it looks. Greens at times can be challenging. Never had any issues with the marshals or any workers there. All are very friendly. My only issue, many area in the fairway are completely soaked. Other then that, every thing else is a-ok read more

Had lunch and then played a round on the cub course with some friends. Lunch was surprisingly tasty all things considered. It's pretty hard to screw up a BLT and tots but they really hit the spot. Golf was great. The cub course is perfect for beginners or for tuning up your game. Some of the greens were a little rough but the had just reopened after overseeding. I highly recommend the cub course. Especially if you are just starting out. read more

This review is for the facility and the cub course and is written from the perspective of a novice golfer whom is easily intimidated by all the "real golfers." The cub course is a great jumping off point for new golfers and those getting used to golf course etiquette. The course is well laid out without a lot of hazards and has plenty of open space. With mostly par 3's and 4's, a lot of the intimidation factor is eliminated too. We've never had a problem splitting off from a foursome and playing at our own pace. Definitely recommend this course for all the beginners and even those who have been at it for a while but are still perfecting their game. read more

I booked a tee time at the pro shop and played the round. I was then charged 3 days later for 4 players and they said I missed my tee time. To be honest, I will pass on this place. I have played here 5-6 times in the last few years and I find it boring and poorly maintained. There is also a bar usually filled with knuckleheads. No thanks. They either need new management or a new owner or both. read more

TERRIBLE AND RACIST We have played at Bear Creek many times, we have even held tournaments here. It's a home course for us because of proximity. Today we experienced the worst time. From Marshall's constantly telling us to hurry and we were the first group out and finished the round in under 4 hours. Then to never get served by the beverage cart, when we stopped at the turn to get water we were told to hurry up by the Marshall again. Then when we went inside after the round to complain and asked why we didn't see a beverage cart for 18 holes, the response we got was "go ask the bar", mind you it was 85 degrees with 65% humidity. We saw the beverage cart on the course multiple times serving other golfers but she would turn around and go back to the clubhouse. We felt like we singled out because of our race and discriminated against by course staff. This will be the last time we ever golf here read more

I went to use the driving range with a friend. This range is sadly under utilized. There are a few poles to aim at and nothing else. I am surprised that there still are not any lights or other improvements. Dobson Ranch and Greenfield Lakes have some $$ making opportunities that give golfers a good experience and value. Seems like this GC is missing out on a great opportunity. read more

My group showed up to play bear creek and there was a frost delay. Totally understandable as courses can't control the weather. What unfolded afterwards was totally within their control. We were one of the first tee times and we were pushed back to approximately 9:30. Knowing that our second round of the day would be in jeopardy we asked if we could play 9 and call it good. The responses were comical "We don't offer a 9 hole rate, so you can pay for 18 and we can give you a rain check" needless to say we were from out of town so that wouldn't work "We have a reduced rate that doesn't start for at least half an hour until after you tee off" they refused to honor that rate as they couldn't put it in yet. Note had common sense prevailed they could have entered if afterwards especially seeing as they had my card on file. Needless to say we left and waited for our afternoon round at a much better course. Don't waste your time. For those not familiar with the area, this a basic sub par course. As some of the locals described it, this is a cut off short basketball jersey type of course. If that's your style have at it. If you have other options, take them. read more

Great local golf course. good driving range, chipping area and putting area for practice. The cub course is a great beginners course

50$ for a par three course is diabolical. Waiting on every single tee box for 5-10 minutes as well. Absolute joke

Super friendly staff and gorgeous course! Ordered a brat with tater tots which was just OK.

Great employees, green grass, and fun course to play. The rangers and starters have pace of play as a goal for all to adhere to.

if there was a zero star i would pick that. we were in a planned golf tournament today Here. We hit off the first hole at 115pm. the rules were the men hit off the blues and women the red. My team was two women and two men. by the 9th hole we had to use the restroom. we pulled into the bathroom and then went back out to our cart. as we got into our cart, an employee came up to us and told us we had to hurry up. which we did. No one passed us. We did Not miss our place in line. we got to hole 9 - and the group in front of us was still on the same hole - which was four females. we waited - as we should have Since then men could have hit to where they were. yet again, another employee came up to us in a golf cart and told us to move along as people were waiting. we told him they were still hitting and there was no one behind us. He said 'they are at the green. You should be on hot three'. Mind you - there were two men on my team who could have easily hit the women with two hits. we got to hole 11 - this time another employee came up to us and told us we needed to hurry. we again pointed out there was a foursome in front of us and we were waiting as we should. again, no one was behind us. he stated 'you all are on a five hour pace and that is unacceptable'. this was around 4pm - and we hit off the first hole at 120pm. We continued to play on hole 11. We were up at the green and yet ANOTHER employee confronted us in his golf cart and told us 'the men hit from the white now and the worst you can hit is par. You all need to move along'. This time i lost my patience. I reminded this man that we paid 100$ a person to play and they were ruining it for the tournament. I also reminded him that we were playing in a tournament and you cannot change the rules to now hit from the white and worst is par. The man started he was told by his manager to rush us along since people not in the tournament wanted to play. At this point we decided to leave. We went past two groups in front of us and drove to the club house. There were literally NO TEAMS other than the two in front of us In the course (other than the two behind us as part of the tournament). We got to the clubhouse and spoke with the general manager - who stated he didn't care we were told to rush along three hours In and that people from the public wanted to play. he thought it was appropriate to approach us twice in one hole to tell us the change the entire rules of our tournament and the worst we could do was par. I will NEVER return to this course. The employees are rude And completely disrespectful. Do NOT go here. read more

Great course, the conditions are amazing and the staff is friendly. I honestly can't believe I'm seeing reviews about people that are upset they get lectured about riding their bikes on the canal and golf course property. These are the same people that would get hit by an errant ball and try to sue someone claiming negligence etc. That canal is literally in slicing range on a drivable par 4...use common sense. Pace of play could be better but there are a lot of senior citizens that play this course and I'm never in a hurry. Keep up the good work. read more

This course has come a long way. I used to avoid this course due to the bad conditions, but starting late last year into 2022, their maintenance has been very good for the price you pay. The outdoor staff is very friendly and helpful. The only recommendations are that they change their gas carts. They are old, don't have any power, and are very loud. Also, the restaurant staff at the 19th hole needs some attention. We can hardly get timely service due to the labor shortage. read more

I really wanted to love this place today. The greens looked good from far the fairways were green and the tee boxes were well maintained. One thing that stood out was the staff that was very helpful from the shop to the starter to the bartender What turned me off was how soaked the greens were and some of the fairways. When the ball rolled on the green it left a black residue on the ball that was kinda gross The course layout was beautiful just make sure you're on the fairway or your ball will be lost on the dirt areas. It's a nice lynx style course that will keep your attention with some blind tee shots The greens looked like they can have a nice break but didn't play out that way. Again too wet seemed like players didn't care to fix divots Not saying I won't be back but for sure wanted to like it better then I did. read more

Got here early, paid for my tee time that was booked a couple weeks ago, and everything seems smooth to pay and get my cart. As soon as I get to the 1st hole 5 min before my tee time, they tell me there are 7 groups in front of us. We got breakfast, drinks, went to the bathroom, and came back 45 minutes later and we still have 3 groups in front of us. I'm sure I will have an update whenever I get to start playing. read more

Play there on a regular basis. A good value. The greens and fairways a really is good condition as well as tee boxes. The areas between the fairway, as in dirt areas are not pretty. Some bushes would make it look beter, but stay on the fairways and you always have a good lie. Their score card price for beer is a plus. read more

0 STARS!!!! The STAFF is an ABSOLUTE joke!! Course and conditions can be great or crap, doesn't matter, the old lady in the pro shop is horrible. The 'Marshall's' are complete jerks and really don't understand pace of play. Telling people to speed up INTO other groups. We pay their hourly wage or 'volunteer FireBall shots'...yeah yeah the course is great for kids, but when the old people freak out on people to 'hurry up or I'll have you tee off on the 150 markers'...that's an absolute joke! DO NOT pay these people your hard earned dollars expecting a nice experience. Go to Kokopelli where they are nice and want you and the course is horrible. Biz has changed and old mean people aren't 'IN' anymore...'get off my lawn' doesn't or shouldn't be the motto. I'm telling you...3 overall stars for this place is despicable. Good luck!! read more

Well, I finally got to play Bear Creek Golf Complex in Chandler, Arizona. 6 hours later and I'm still kicking myself for waiting so long to play this course. First off, it's not as far from Sky Harbor Airport as it might look on the map. 35 minutes tops and you can be on a great, well maintained course. The club house is beautiful, the restaurant looks awesome and although I didn't eat lunch, I did grab some beverages before heading out. I. Love. A. Course that has a starter. He/she helps you get organized, makes sure you have everything you need, gives you local rules and some great tips for enjoying the game. Today, the greens were well cut and rolled. Took a bit of getting used to since last weeks course was kinda slow. Quick, quick greens!! Bear Creek has a full putting/practice area and a wide, comfortable driving range. Swung the weights and the driver a bit to get loose and off we went! Quick round! We played 18 in slightly under 4 hours and really only waited a few minutes on the par 3's. So here's my take. Go online, look for a good price, go play this course. You will seriously enjoy playing here. read more

This course is nice, but it's not worth playing due to the pushy rangers and nonchalant staff. It seems like they don't follow an agenda with players who have times booked, they just send whoever they can get to the first tee box as quickly as possible. Our round ended up lasting 3 hours and 15 minutes, but from holes 6 to 11, the course assistant was on our tail, watching us hit golf shots and constantly telling us to speed up. He stopped and watched twice, but came up and talked to our group 3 times. On the 3rd time, he said "I'm gonna need you guys to play fast golf, you're holding up the rest of the course. I'm gonna have you guys teeing off from the 150 yard markers pretty soon." Of course, not even 3 holes later, we get held up behind a group teeing off at normal pace. I played this course with my dad on my birthday, so it's a shame that the service was poor enough to leave a sour taste in my mouth. This course only has value when they do the overseeding, as I've also noticed the course in horrible conditions when not in season. Overall, your money is better spent somewhere else. Steer clear of this place! read more

This course is just a short drive and I have been playing it for years. I think today was the last straw. 1. Pay heed to all other comments about not being told that greens are suffering from mold, or aerated recently, or any other issue. You are on your own. 2. The greenskeeping crew often leaves piles of clippings right next to the greens. Today one of the holes had clearly been cut from side to side, but they forgot to go around the green for one last pass, so the grass we not evenly cut 3. For the second week in a row, some kids jumped in front of me on the back nine. Two kids, one bag. They knew the guys working the clubhouse, it seems. They were playing the tips, hitting 150 yard drives, and cursing and goofing off. There is not a ranger in sight, and clearly whatever goes. Including me, I'm done with this course. read more

So I'm a new golfer so I've been coming to Bear Creek and playing the Cub course for about 3 or 4 times now. I find this the best course for beginner as mainly par-3s and a couple of par-4s which I enjoy. It's not too difficult of a course to where one wants to give up or throw their clubs the grass I would say is mediocre considering it's not a championship of course but living in Arizona with a hundred and ten degree temperatures it is sufficient for me. Rates are reasonable as I used to to book my reservations but once again it's also the hottest part of the day. At the end of the day when you return your car don't forget to tip the guys who are clean your clubs asking you how your round was and having a genuine good conversation read more

From our first time playing at Bear Creek we saw a big difference from other courses we'd played. Hubby and I have become regulars here because both courses are beautiful, well-maintained, and the entire staff is very welcoming and service-oriented... management, food services, pros, starters, cart attendants... even the grounds crew! The pace of play is well managed, even at the executive course with lots of families, juniors, & beginners, and we play here A LOT! Is there a crazy day occasionally, sure, but it's certainly not the norm. Most folks are laid back, relaxed and enjoying the day. Coolers on the cart let us take plenty of bottles of water along, so no water on the course has never been a problem (& we don't like drinking from those big orange water coolers we find at other courses that are left unsupervised to general public...yeah, it's a little creepy when you think about it). A big table with cups, lids, ice & cold water is set up fresh every day in the restaurant for self service during the summer months & a cup of ice water is always available for the asking in other months. And if that's not enough, a bottle of water is only .50 cents or you're welcome to bring your own WATER bottles to toss in the cooler! This could be better explained to new folks, but I guess that's what yelp is for! ;-) The food at the Bears Den is both reasonable AND delicious! Hubby craves the breakfast burrito and I plan tee times or practice around lunch with the freshly grilled chicken cesar salad. There's no prepackaged anything from this kitchen! The Friday fish fry is amazing in the spring (make a reservation cuz lots of folks come in for that), and the new Sunday brunch starts tomorrow (yes, we made a tee time around it...I saw the menu!) Finally, I have to recognize the outstanding golf pros here! I've had regular lessons with Brian Calhoun, but I've heard multiple positive comments for Mike Barnett as well. Six months ago I had been playing the executive course with hubby a few times each month and doing "ok" but not really improving. I saw that Brian had women only group lessons available and decided to give it a try. I had never had a pro lesson before (just lotsa well-meaning help from friends) so of course I was nervous at first, hitting almost every warm-up shot everywhere but in the middle of the range...auuugh! Brian instantly put me at ease by observing right where I was at and explaining some foundational things in such a way that I was actually able to DO IT with immediate improvement that continues today! I've become a regular student with Brian and a terrific group of ladies of all ages and abilities. I'm now so much more confident and relaxed even when paired up with folks I don't know or when the course is busy and pace of play is important, even playing without hubby when he can't go (Soooo much better than waiting for him to be able to play, right?!) Golf is supposed to be more fun than frustrating, & I'm so grateful for Brian's teaching ability as I'm now able to rely on my own knowledge to make the adjustments to my shots that just seem to gradually but continuously improve. After we're done playing, there's a full bar at the 19th hole, and though their license doesn't permit hard liquor out on the course, they carry a wonderful wine based vodka that makes a delicious bloody mary that I think is even better than regular vodka! In conclusion, this AFFORDABLE public golf course is a quiet gem in an ocean of courses (oh yeah, did I mention that no houses line the course and the view from the restaurant is stunning?). I almost hesitate to share all the positives of this course and keep it to ourselves, but it seems under-utilized for all the wonderful amenities. Give it a try...we hope you enjoy it as much as we do! (Wow! Didn't intend to write all that! No, I'm not an employee, though this review reads like I'm in the Bear Creek Marketing dept! LOL) read more

This review is not about the course or restaurant. I called about a month ago to get golf lessons for my wife and myself. Both of us are totally new and we were looking for ongoing lessons to help us get a good foundation and improve over the next year or so. I called and the instructors were busy so I left a message. Never got a call back. Called and left another message. Still nothing. I figured 2 people getting lessons every week would be good business. Must have figured wrong. Follow up in business is huge. On the positive side we found a great instructor at a different course and are improving every week and look forward to playing Bear Creek in the future. read more

My first time golfing 18 holes was a success thanks to Bear Creek! We were able to set up a tee time via phone a few days before hand and the staff kindly greeted us upon arrival. The golf carts were clean, ran well, and ready for us the minute we arrived. The club rental fee was a bit high for my liking, but I guess I'll have to live with it! There was a bit of confusion on where to start (we paid for the executive but found out later we played on the cub), but the staff resolved it quickly and gave us the difference in a refund between the two courses. There is free cups or water available in the club house or the cart lady came around twice during our stay. Definitely a nice course I'd play again! read more
