Before writing my review, I scrolled down to see the spectrum of responses people have written. I can honestly say I have ABSOLUTELY no idea how Beacon Hill Staffing Group isn't getting consistent 5 STAR reviews after the tremendous work they have done for me!!! Amanda Gaughan has been an absolute ROCK STAR in finding me a job that is the perfect fit. I am a creative person, I have a very bubbly personality, I love music and especially being in a corporate setting but one that is fast-paced and involves face to face interaction. In the past, I have tried out staffing agencies that nodded and smiled, but did not follow through and found me jobs that were THE EXACT OPPOSITE of what I was hoping to explore. Amanda is the saving grace that is Beacon Hill. She was in CONSTANT contact with me 24/7 via text and email and phone to let me know of upcoming temp assignments until the big one (a temp to perm job) pulled through!! During my temp assignments leading up to my big interview, Amanda relayed to the company that I was a hard-working, flexible candidate and I believe that her praises to them along with the confidence that she instilled in me...I nailed the job!! Just as I thought the process was over, there was still one more step to complete which involved a standard background check. I was contacted by the background check agency multiple times needing proof of my degree, employment verification etc. Since graduating in the spring, there were credits that needed to be sent back to my home school in order to officially complete my degree .I learned there had been some technical issues along the way that made my background check a massively STRESS-inducing process. BUT Amanda reassured me EVERY DAY that everything was fine and that she and the Beacon Hill team were working TIRELESSLY to get this done. Not only that, but during this she found me TWO MORE temp jobs to keep me afloat until my official start date at my new company on Monday! The background check finally went through and now I can relax and enjoy my weekend and look forward to starting my new job next week. *SIDE NOTE* Before I found Beacon Hill Staffing Group, I fell back into the rabbit hole of the Restaurant industry. I was back to churning massive vats of garlic aioli in the scorching hot kitchen, breaking my spine carrying heavy glasses, getting yelled at to mop the floor correctly, running up and down a huge flight of stairs with hot plates. I am a recent graduate and I know I have so much to a offer a great company in terms of my skills but...there I was...surrendering to this inconsistent job making barely $50 on a double if I was LUCKY. And here I am now, thanks to BEACON HILL STAFFING GROUP, taking huge strides in the right direction and truly developing my career path! THE BEACON HILL STAFFING GROUP is incredible. Absolutely outstanding. *WORD OF ADVICE* If you scroll down and read negative reviews like I used to when trying to find the right staffing group, you NEED to take those responses with a grain of salt. Maybe the folks who gave this company a 1 star may have had the EXPERIENCE but an awful demeanor and crappy negative attitude. I understand that people have different experiences with agencies (as I have - at least 7 agencies since moving to Boston in March), however the others PALE in comparison to Beacon Hill. First of all, your experience with them will depend the following: 1) How easy are you to place and 2) Your willingness to be patient (which is not many people's strong point) A lot of people who write negative reviews (and some of those that read them) assume that the writer is a) super-qualified for the position they're applying for and b) they are the only person in the world looking for a job. Which of course we ALL know isn't realistic. I have only one question - if you were THE most qualified candidate for the position, wouldn't it behoove the agency to try to get you in there? You DO realize that they only get paid when they actually place candidates in a position, right? So my question is why not you? While I agree a courtesy "we don't think you're a strong candidate" call would be appreciated, just how would one go about doing that? Amongst SO many calls they have to make on a daily basis, trying to place qualified candidates? Anyways, a big key to success is to remember that this is business and when looking for a job, no call = no interest. It's that simple. It's NOT personal! You're not there making a new friend, you want a job, and they want to find you one! (Probably more than you want one)! So with that said, I came to Boston (unemployed) Feb. 26th, met with Jamie, Lauren and Matt, they helped me revamp my resume and began to help me find work. Jamie helped on the temp side and had me placed in an indefinite temp position by March 11th that paid right in the range I was looking for. During my time in that assignment I had MANY job interviews both with Beacon Hill and other Boston placement agencies. At the end of May, my assignment came to an end, as I still had yet to find a full time position. Jamie again came through for me with temp to perm, paying in the same salary range I was getting, only this time I qualified for health benefits with the agency! (Yes, I had to do an extensive background check for the position, which was fine, because I have nothing to hide). While the interviews for full time positions came to a lull, I decided to try to do my best at this position and perhaps something good would happen with this awesome, worldwide firm. Well I'm happy to say that after a three-month period, as of this week, I was offered full time employment with the company! (And because I agreed to the first background check, it has now SPED UP the paperwork process for the full time position and I was given a priority start date!) Lauren helped me to negotiate a higher salary that I was worth getting and when they presented the offer it was perfect! (Which she didn't have to do!) My testimonial is just that - a testimony! My experience with Beacon Hill Staffing Group was a phenomenal one! They helped me every step of my journey in finding a new job and I would recommend those who are qualified in the field they want to work in, to go for it! They can and will help you find work! Ok..let me start this review off saying that anyone that knows me, knows I have a HUGE issue with most staffing agencies. As someone who hires people for a living in-house, I have spent years being bombarded by really bad recruiters either hounding me to use them (and I do mean hounding), calling me up at my place of employment seeing if I'm interested in learning about a job, and just all around "meh" in follow-through the very few times I have engaged. One, whose​ name I won't mention because I'm not into online shaming, went so low as to call my boss at a past job when he found out I was looking. He wanted to rep me and at the same time fill my position. The joke​ was on him that my boss knew I was looking (as I told him before I started) and I was able to call him out on this totally unprofessional action. Doing something like that in this profession is about as low as one can get. Job searching can be hard enough without recruiters like that willing to do anything to make a buck. But, I digress.... Back to BHS. For me to give FIVE GIANT STARS and to eat a little crow is well worth it! (PS..I'm still not a fan of most staffing agencies. This is a call out just for Beacon Hill Staffing and Megan Frame). Let's start with the initial phone call. The moment Megan Frame reached out to me via email and then when we jumped on a call, I was sold. Skeptical (when is the other shoe going to drop) but convinced enough when we said goodbye that yes, I would come in and meet in person. the position we were discussing seemed really cool and something that fit my background beautifully. Today was a cold and dreary day and I had an impulse to reschedule, but my gut kept pushing me to head into the city! It was career love at first sight. From the person who graciously opened​ the door for me when I arrived, to the ​wonderful front desk person (I'm so sorry I can't remember your name) to the beautifully​ renovated boutique hotel that they turned into an office, to finally meeting Megan, it just kept getting better and better. Megan is funny, warm, sweet, down to earth and she knows her stuff. What stood out most about their agency and Megan was the amount of ethics that they put into each hire. She is honest (as I'm sure they all are) and doesn't play that "well, we don't have an opening at the place we talked​ about anymore BUT we can consider you for other roles....the old bate and switch). Megan is an amazing​ listener and treats each of her candidates as true individuals. She and I shared so many of the same point of views. I had an overwhelmingly positive experience with Beacon Hill, primarily because of the hard work of my recruiter, Maggie Brady. I had worked with some staffing agencies in the past and never had a really excellent experience, mostly because the ones I had worked with were looking to get me a job - not the right job, but any job - and obviously that can have value when you're unemployed and looking. Luckily, this time my circumstances were different, and even when my current employment situation changed quickly (long story), Maggie was there with a number of solutions that were not only helpful and calming in a time of uncertainty, but were right for me and my needs. Maggie and I initially sat down and met in person, and she really listened to what I was looking for in a new role. She came back to me in that same meeting and found two opportunities in alignment with my interests. One didn't go so well (I had never done a phone interview before, so my poor preparation for that was my own fault), and one went really well, but ended up not panning out. I was nervous - I had a deadline by which I really needed to have a new job lined up, or else risk being unemployed. Maggie was confident that she would be able to find something permanent for me before that deadline, but to assuage any fears I had, she let me know that if we got too close to the deadline and nothing had worked out, she could connect me with a temp-to-perm recruiter in her office while she continued looking for the right opportunity for me on the permanent side. I didn't want to have to take a temp-to-perm position, but Maggie was offering it to make sure that no matter what happened, I had a paycheck coming in every week. She wasn't backing down from her role, she was ensuring that in the time it took to find me the right job, I would have a contingency plan. I really appreciated how thorough she was. Additionally, she was incredibly responsive and communicative - sometimes she would have an update to share and call me outside of her regular work hours. She always made me feel like I was her only candidate (which I knew was not true!) and worked tirelessly on my behalf. Eventually, and within my timeline, Maggie was able to place me in the perfect role at an amazing organization that I love. I've been in my new role for about a month now, and I couldn't be happier - it is a massive improvement from my previous organization, and the position met all of my requirements, both financially and based on what I had told Maggie I would find fulfilling within my career. I am incredibly thankful to her for her diligence and commitment to finding the right fit for me, and would recommend her to anyone looking for a new role in a new organization. Well to start I am a former employee of the staffing industry so I fully understand how the process works. Most of you complain about Beacon Hill posting jobs that are fake and I can tell you straight out right now that is untrue. Recruiters are extremely busy and wouldn't you just re-post a previously written job description for a job that came in that was basically the same job. All they need to do is change a few requirements. Much easier and less time consuming. As for "luring" people in that is also a falsity. Jobs come and go on a daily basis and especially in the temporary side as they could be filled the very next day. This is why it is important to contact a recruiter before you even apply for a job as this is why companies use staffing agencies in the first place. They hire us to do the first initial interviews and reference checking. This is why it is so very important to treat these interviews like any other important first job interview. Dress professionally and take the questions that they ask you seriously. The recruiter wants to get to know you so show your sparkling personality and try to connect with the recruiter and they will be more apt to remember you and your qualifications when a new job comes in; which is completely random and cannot be predicted. As for those of you that were never contacted or never had phone calls returned... I hate to be the bearer of bad news but this is mostly due to the fact that you did something wrong. Either you gave a bad reference, lied about dates on your resume or other items on your resume, said something in the interview that brought up a "red flag" or you were employed by the agency before and called out sick a lot or were given bad reviews by the client. The agency then can not use you as any agency does not want to ruin their credibility of provided excellent candidates by sending someone with a bad reputation. As for my experience with Beacon Hill I came to them after I left my previous employer who was way less ethical than what these complaints were. I went in there with a professional attire and attitude and knew that my recruiter was working her hardest to find me a job and I kept in contact with her... either e-mail or a phone call I kept constant contact with my recruiter and found a job in two weeks through them. They were an amazing agency and I would highly recommend them to anyone. AVOID - AVOID - AVOID!!! BEACON HILL STAFFING GROUP IS THE WORST!!!! EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL! I am NOT surprised to see bad reviews on this agency. Actually, I'm very happy to see reviews from other people who feel the same way! I don't even want to give 1 star, but Yelp has made me. Beacon Hill Staffing is the WORST staffing agency I have ever encountered in my professional career path. This is the second time I have dealt with them, because I believe in giving second chances. BUT NEVER NEVER NEVER EVER AGAIN! I am not going to drop names, but I have worked with two women. I worked with one woman close to two years ago, and the B yawned during my interview. YAWNED!!! I know I am not boring or unattractive and I have an amazing resume and the best personality ever! So, I decided that I would never contact them or work with them again. I began work, recruiting (yes, I was a recruiter) and guess who came knocking! Beacon Hill Staffing Group - HAH! I told them how rude and unprofessional my own personal experience was when I interviewed with them. The man representing the group was apologetic and tried his best to convince me that they are not really like that. I still refused to use them at the company I was at, based on my own personal experience. As time went on, I posted my resume via Internet earlier this summer, and guess who contacts me! Yes, Beacon Hill Staffing Group -- so since I believe in giving people second chances, I did.... and AGAIN WITHOUT A DOUBT, Beacon Hill Staffing Group has proved to me that they are the WORST staffing agency EVER!!!!!! I WILL NEVER EVER use them or work with them again! Even if I work at another company recruiting for them, I will NEVER use Beacon Hill Staffing Group as a vendor! NEVER!!! The most recent one harassed me all summer long, sending emails and leaving voice-mail messages on my phone and so we email back and forth for months without a problem. She would respond and call me right away. As soon as she lures me in with a couple interesting jobs and I give her my attention, she stopped responding to my emails and phone calls, giving me a bogus excuse as to how she was not receiving any of my inquiries. Yeah, Really makes me question any client who would pay them to find employees. I moved back to Boston a year ago for my wife's educational pursuits and decided to try a staffing agency only because I don't like blasting my resume to unknown recipients. Wanted to apply for marketing positions around the area and was willing to commute and or work remotely if need be. I had been out of Boston for around 7 years and lost many professional contacts in the area which leads me to my spill on BHSG. I know many or most who apply to their postings are qualified if not over qualified for their clients (foresight) I have a B.A. in Computer Science and Mathematics from Yale and a MBA from the Harvard School of Business and 7 years experience working with a single fortune 1000 company as an IT Director, and I'm fluent Spanish, German and Chinese. This is not a I'm so great monologue.... this is a if you can't find a client that could need my services and background you're not a staffing firm. Jesus Christ when I interviewed with the guy he was fucking rude. He asked what my company did and he used their services daily. Then asked what my role was and I told him very clearly I worked as an IT Director and spent the last 2 years in a data migration project and he looked at me like I was fucking stupid. He said he had a position open for an IT manager but did not think I was qualified since they are looking for someone with specific experience working with Oracle. (In my resume 2 years working for the company Oracle) He then asked me if I was interested in "inside sales" I asked "you mean telemarketing" he said "kinda but more lead generation" really you fucking putz I spent 6 fucking years of my life in Ivy League institutions building up great educational debt to take a job for 32k a year in sales. Nothing against sales but I'm not the type, I'm introverted, not a pitchman type, and frankly I'm to lazy to make over 100 calls a day. (not my thing) I don't really need to go any further. This staffing firm is useless not only to me but the other two people I know that used them which provoked me to write this review. First off I want to say that working with Matt Glazier and Ali Kornfeld was one of the best choices I could make in my job search. I was called after sending in my resume to a craigslist post, and soon enough I was in for an interview with Matt that week. He started with talking about my background and experience, then we discussed what kind of work I was really interested in. I was so glad to see how he was really listening to what I was looking for, and I only received calls from him about jobs that actually did seem interesting to me. Ali was just as wonderfully helpful to the process as well. They both heard what I seemed to like and what I was less interested in, and then would only call about jobs that seemed to fit my wants! They all do an amazing job there and they are truly caring nice people. They helped me reorganize my resume and prepped me before interviews and checked in after to make sure everything went okay, what I thought about the company, and anything else. I really think that they also opened me up to some extremely valuable connections and set me up with job interviews that I never would have been able to get without their help and coaching. Then lastly, I want to set the record straight for anyone who is reading some of these other reviews that say one or two stars.. If you are hard working, professional, kind, friendly, and motivated to grow, they will absolutely help you succeed to where you want to be. If you are lazy and think that just going through them is going to get you what you want and that they are going to do all the work, then you are wrong and you probably in for a few more rejections to come. They will not waste their time if you do not prove yourself to be a promising candidate. They are extremely busy filling great people for great jobs, so if you want one of those great jobs you need to prove yourself to be a great candidate. Don't expect things to be done for you. Hard work is important and if your not willing to work for what you want, you should probably look elsewhere because Beacon Hill Staffing doesn't waste their time. I am very impressed with this staffing agency!! I know everyone has different experiences, but here is mine. Back in April, I was going to be ending my temp assignment with my workplace at the time. I had been with another staffing agency but wanted to branch out and see what else I could find. I had heard of Beacon Hill Staffing and decided to give it a try. The next day, I was contacted by Jamie Tobin, one of the Senior Staffing Consultants. i went in for the initial interview, or what i like to call the meet-and-greet interview, and felt she was very professional and knew what she was doing. I also felt like she truly had my best interests at heart. For the remainder of that month, we stayed in touch and she would email me from time to time with potential job opportunities. The week before the Boston Marathon, Jamie emailed and called me with what she described as an opportunity she thought I was best fitted for. I interviewed for the Administrative Assistant position at Nutraclick the following Friday and got a call two hours later that they wanted me! It has been three months now and I am finishing up my first week as a permanent employee here!! To say that I am over the moon and happy is simply an understatement! I could not have done this without Jamie's help or her belief that I would do great wherever I was. She was very encouraging and very helpful. A word of advice to those looking for jobs and thinking about going with this company. Staffing agencies in general can get you in the door to many different businesses, which is their job to do so. That being said, you also need to be willing to do the work required of you and if you really like the company you're placed with, make sure to go the extra mile and make sure they want to keep you. Do not blame your failure on the staffing agency because they did what they said what they would do and they got you a job. I started working with Beacon Hill Staffing in August of 2016. I was planning a move to Boston, MA while living in Atlanta, GA. The same week I created an account and applied for a job, one of their recruiters reached out to me. We chatted for 30 mins. about my current living situation, what I was looking for in my next job, and my timeline. After the logistics were squared away, we set up a Skype/FaceTime call where we discussed everything more in-depth. I finally met my recruiter face-to-face in October of 2016 and she was AMAZING! At this time, I notified her that my move was being pushed back 4 months, to my surprise, she was unfazed and kept her upbeat motivated demeanor. My recruiter and I kept in touch during the months leading up to my move and really started honing in on our search about a month out from my move date. I recently moved back to my home state of Massachusetts after moving to Hollywood post college so I didn't have to grow up. When I got back, I went through the usual job search that I have come to know today. Which is, apply to 200 and pray two of them get back to you. I can not express to you how much I loved my experience with Beacon Hill Staffing. I was contacted by them via LinkedIn as they thought they had a position that I was good for, I turned the position down as I had just started a new job. To be very clear, I RARELY EVER do online reviews. However, I felt that BHS merited one from me. A year ago, I was in transition and thought I was going in one direction and ended up in another, great direction thanks to Maggie Ciarcia at Beacon Hill Staffing. I initially submitted my resume in December 2014. I received a follow up call in late February, after the nasty mega storms. I didn't expect much in the dead of winter because I know the hiring cycle. I left the public sector a jack of all trades and with many leadership skills but not a straight career trajectory. (For those in politics, you know what I mean.) I thought I would transition to a project management role well and that is what I focused on. The reality is that I wanted a certain lifestyle and to be happy. I was burnt out in my previous role and I wanted a quality of life. I met with Maggie and she really listened to me, heard me and got me. I am now working in a completely different role, in the work environment and team and pay and benefits and great awesome people that I so desired. I am writing to confidently discourage any self-respecting candidate from working this company out of respect for their own time and worth. I reached out to Beacon Hill Staffing because I heard good things from a reference when I first moved to Boston. Like others I was invited in to review my CV and answer some questions. I was greeted with pompous attitudes at the door and a wait, then redundant paperwork. Eventually I met with Phyllis A, who seemed enthusiastic and willing to assist me in my search for the best fit. Phyllis threw a few initial opportunities at me that sounded like the same stuff I could find on any standard job search site, which proved right away that she hadn't listened to a word I said about what I wanted...which I can only deduct was about the quantity over quality that other reviews allude to (read: TRUST THESE POOR REVIEWS). I never received a single phone or email response from Phyllis after my initial few jobs labeled "opportunities". I ended up hooking up with what I believe to now be my lifelong career thanks to the work of a different firm in Boston (one of MULTIPLE solid options that are NOT this one). Whomever was hired to respond to these posts and try to improve opinions shared here, I suggest the company refocuses on efforts internally to improve folks' experiences as things move forward so the trend of poor ratings won't continue to flow in. read more

I had a great experience with Beacon Hill Staffing Group. I worked with Ali Kornfeld and was placed in about 2 weeks. I was placed in a position aligning with my skill set at an hourly wage slightly higher than what I was earning at my other job. (Keep in mind that when you are placed by an agency like this, they take a cut of what the company is paying for your employment. The goal is to be placed by a staffing agency into a job that you can later be hired for directly by the employer. This is what happened to me.) After about three months, I was hired directly by the company I was working for and was offered much higher pay with a very impressive benefit package. I am still at this company nearly one year later and love it. The whole process was pretty simple for me. I went in to BHSG and met with Ali, we went over my resume and what I was looking for, and she brought out several listings. We communicated back and forth for about a week before I went in for an interview at one of the hiring companies. Within two weeks of meeting Ali I was employed. The entire payment and time sheet system at BHSG is through an online portal which makes it very accessible and easy to use. I would highly recommend this group to anyone seriously seeking employment. Show up on time, dress like you give a shit, be open minded about assignments and I'm sure you will find something you can work with. read more

in case you didn't already know that staffing agencies are useless, i'd like to confirm for you that they are indeed, USELESS! i have met with three staffing agencies and received countless phone calls from others that I refuse to meet with now that I know how they operate. craigslist is filled with ads for positions that do not actually exist just so that these recruiters can get you into their office to fulfill their weekly quota of meetings with suckers like me who actually believed that they had a job interview lined up for me. Each staffing agency that I met with (KNF&T, Beacon Hill, Hollister) fed me the same lines about the difficult job market but insisted that they would work hard to find me the right job to match my skills. Months went by without a word from any of them and when I reached out again to follow up, I was met with silence from two of them and a request for a second in-person meeting from the third. When I asked if we could speak over the phone rather than in-person (considering we had already met in-person and talked at length about my skills, job preferences, etc.) I never heard from them again. This further leads me to believe that these recruiters are merely trying to rope people into meetings to fulfill their weekly goals. If you are looking for a job that actually exists, avoid advertisements posted on job boards by staffing agencies! read more

What a joke. I called and explained I What a joke. I called and explained I was just beginning my search and was wondering if I could speak to someone as to whether my background matched their specialties. Apparently that's not their process... I was told that I had to submit my resume through their website, and it would take 3-5 days for one of their recruiters to call me. If I didn't hear back in a week, I was to resubmit my resume through the website. I politely asked ""is there a chance I won't hear back at all?"" to which the answer was ""yes, so you need to resubmit your resume until you do"". I paused for a moment to let this sink in, and realized that this is the stupidest, least client focused, and one of the more arrogant approaches I've ever heard. So I politely asked ""why would I do that?"", to which she replied boredly, ""so someone might reply back"", to which I politely replied ""no thank you, good luck"" and hung up the phone. Fortunately I'm an experienced executive with networks and an MBA, so I have other options. But if I was a newly minted grad, or new to the area, this would be soul crushing. AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!!! Don't let people like this waste your time. If this is how poorly they treat possible candidates at intake, I can only imagine the frustration and disappointment that awaits any one who is ""lucky"" enough to receive a reply. read more
