Ghosting a candidate after going through multiple rounds of positive interviews is not ok. Additionally, the organization ended up scheduling the in person/2nd interview with me directly...no doubt due to how unreachable the recruiters were. The recruiters told me to be ready for a tentative time and date...when that time and date approached, not only did their communication drop, they became difficult to reach. It's been nearly 2 weeks since the final interview and my attempt to follow up last week could have been received in a nicer manner. I think the recruiter removed me from consideration because I'm interviewing at multiple places (and she doesn't want to risk possible loss of commission) so now she has dropped all communication. She went from complete post-interview enthusiasm to having a "who are you" vibe when I followed up 4 days later. Soooo apparently...l'm supposed to be exclusive with a potential role / company who treats me like I barely exist? In THIS job market? Riiiiiight... Please be for real... Very transactional feel. There doesn't seem to be interest at all in actually helping me gain employment (remember when agencies actually DID THAT??? I sure miss that.). read more

so I recently got a job through BHS and it was good my contact person was EMMA very sweet and helpful answers calls and emails loved that about her but after my first day I wasn't able to make it in due to childcare reason just for that day unfortunately and I informed her immediately and things seemed to be fine she called me the next day and said the position no longer wanted me because I wasn't able to make it in which is fine I understand that BUT emma completely ghosted me no answer to my phone calls or she would send me to voice mail she didn't respond to my emails very UNPROFESSIONAL AND UNPLEASANT it's sucks I would hope the whole company doesn't behave as such and I'm not one to leave reviews but sometimes things have to be said HOPEFULLY FUTURE PROSPECTS have a better experience than I did with the recruiter read more

Working with these people was absolutely abysmal. This will of course depend on who exactly your recruiter is, but you should really save yourself the time and connect directly with companies instead. Unless you're absolutely desperate, avoid this place like the plague. Never, throughout the whole process, did I believe that they were interested in what I wanted or helping me go somewhere I was interested. Instead, they were always just pushing me to try and quickly accept some offer that was put in front of me so that they would get their commission. I've worked with a lot of different recruiters and they were all much more personable and interested in trying to pair me with a company where everyone would be happy, but the motives here are so obviously transparent. They're also incredibly unprofessional to work with and they have no consideration for your time whatsoever. I had my recruiter call several times when we weren't even scheduled to talk, or fail to call during times that were scheduled. They don't even think you may be talking to a different recruiter or company, but are solely focused on trying to monopolize your time. This doesn't feel like recruiting, it's micromanagement. If you're an absolute masochist, put yourself through this process; otherwise, save yourself the pain of interacting with them. read more

Yes they have been around a while, but there other great staffing agencies out there, don't bother with this one. Yes, they were nice in person, but nothing more. You have to fill out a bunch of archaic applications, and come downtown for an in person interview, prior to even getting actual job listings that they have available. They hype it up and tell you about all of the options they will curate and send to you, leaving feeling hopeful that you may have found a great gateway back into a job. Well, not so much... crickets. After multiple emails to both recruiters I heard nothing but silence, not even a "thanks for coming in." They don't have to get you a job, but professionalism and courtesy both ways should be expected. Don't bother. I have worked with several staffing companies in the past and I can say with full confidence that Beacon Hill has by FAR provided me with the most options as well as offers. I have already recommended them to friends who have been looking for work. Not only was the service provided absolutely stunning, but the customer support was professional, enthusiastic, and passionate about the work. My personal representative was excellent at keeping me up to date--when companies took a while to get back I didn't even have to reach out to inquire; I'd already have an email about it. My representative was on top of it and clearly enthusiastic about the work she does; talking with her on the phone was always a blast and very encouraging. She was in the full-time employment office. If you're looking for temp-to-perm or PT, you may have a different experience. I worked with one person in the part time office that I had a different experience with, so it really depends on who you work with. I had a really good experience with BHSG in Boston: they recruited me off LinkedIn and I ended up taking and getting the first job I interviewed for, which has ended up being the best job I have ever had (perm role; I wasn't seeking temp work). I was genuinely surprised that I landed my perfect job from a recruiting firm...but I did. If you are looking to maximize your experience at BHSG-- or any other recruiter/staffing firm, here are my hot tips: -- Recognize that every staffing firm will have its own specialty. BHSG specializes in admin roles in downtown Boston. They place candidates of all experience levels, though they seem to have a ton of executive/admin assistant roles available. --Know that you may be asked to attend interviews on extremely short notice. This is kind of annoying, but it's the way the staffing agency world seems to work. This wasn't a big issue for me because I wasn't working while I sought employment, but know that it's within reason for you to turn down an interview if you have to. --Keep looking for jobs on your own and through other agencies, for sake of your own mental health more than anything. It feels good to have many irons in the fire at once. And remember, recruiters are BUSY people and work very actively with both candidates and employers (sounds to me like the job from hell), so don't take it personally if they don't follow up with you right away. It's totally okay to give your recruiter a little nudge if you haven't heard from them in a week or so. --Develop a good relationship with your recruiter. Be upfront about your expectations and desires. This person is your advocate the whole way through the application and interview process. If they like you, they're more likely to pitch you a little harder to potential employers. --Going after jobs through a recruiter is like dating-- don't get discouraged. They will send along relevant job descriptions to you, submit your resume to positions that you're interested in, and four out of five potential employers will pass on you just based on your resume. Not sure what happened, maybe they got overworked or something, but I went from having a really super experience with Beacon Hill with them placing me quickly last year to them only being able to find me a one week gig this summer, despite the fact that I was available all of July and half of August. With the latest placement I had been counting on it being 2 weeks but after asking the employer for 3 days straight who I was going to be covering the following week they let me me know that I was no longer needed. No one from my agency even bothered to let me know that it was my last day. It really just encapsulated what my experience with these folks has been this summer. Flaky with poor communication. I had to repeat what my availability was numerous times to the point it started feeling disrespectful. I mean, What the heck happened? They were otherwise on top of it before this summer, and then this colossal nosedive. It takes a lot for me to get to this point but I'm updating my review of them from 5 star to 3 Star, and its 3 stars rather than 2 based solely on the fact that they were great to me in the beginning. **update for my update. Was kvetching about my experience with a former colleague who provided a reference to BHSG for me. She told me that last year when they contacted her as my reference check they rang her at 5AM--in spite of the fact that I had told them all my references were on the West Coast. She said the person calling her thought SHE was applying for the position I was supposed to be placed with. This is bizarre and shows me that these folks are not at all who I thought. read more

I have worked with David at Beacon Hill Staffing for over 10 years and highly recommend working with him and the BH team. When looking for a job, they take the time to get to know you and what you are looking for. They do the hard part of vetting job descriptions and then passing along ones they feel could be a good fit for you and the firm. They prep you for interviews, help with thank you notes and negotiate the offer on your behalf. I would not register with Beacon Hill. I worked with Madison. I registered with them in 2017 and was employed within a week. The company wanted to hire me after a little over a month. Madison told them what my salary requirements were without consulting me AFTER I told her what the last person in my position was getting paid. I was more qualified and she agreed to a reduced salary with the company. When I asked why she had undermined my salary, she responded "You put that's what you made at your last job" Later, it was discovered that Beacon Hill and the employer had what I perceived as an inappropriate relationship. SHE wanted commission so she agreed to a lower salary so Beacon Hill could receive $10,000 in commission. They never disclosed they had staffed 8 people in the same position under 2 years. When I asked about diversity I was given the run around. Out of more than 1000 employees, only 3 were Black Americans although Beacon Hill staffed more than 150 temporary Black Americans from their DC office to this organization I left the organization and went back to Beacon Hill, and apparently, the former organization was asking questions regarding whether I was seeking work through Beacon Hill. This was disclosed by Maja Bijelic. Maja never followed up was unresponsive and that was over a year ago. I received a telephone call nearly two years later from Julie Naughton as an "introduction". She wanted my resume after I sued the former organization. She was practically begging for my resume for a "position". When I wrote to her and told her I was not interested, she called and I was very intentional on my salary requirements and the ideal role where I would a viable candidate. SHE sounded desperate to have my resume. I reluctantly sent her my resume. This was in November 2019. Since then, she has become ghost. She has not responded to the numerous emails or telephone calls. I applied for a position and the organization informed me that the resume I submitted was nearly identical to a candidate's resume that was sent to them from Beacon Hill, ironically between November and December. read more

Unorganized, unprofessional and obviously don't know what they are doing. I was introduced to Brittany Cain for BHSG and she was located in Illinois while I am living in Georgia. At first, she was sweet, professional and represented me well. However, later on she wanted me to do outlandish tasks for paperwork that should of been taken care of in the beginning. She instructed me to go on my first job and was WRONG about my start time and date. There was A LOT of miscommunication between her and the company representative. Overall, this experience has turned me OFF to temp agencies and I will never want to work with this company again. Word of advice: train you people and LISTEN to your clients that you represent. Now we're going on 3 months still without any response or resources.. not even a "we are still working on it." Being ignored by your recruiter is inexcusable and really just a huge disappointment. I've waited to write this review for years because I'm nice but this is the WORST experience I've ever had with a company. I came in with an undergraduate degree looking for a front desk position. My recruiter set me up with a "two day interview" at a tech company, Log Me In., where I was told I would be trying out the new position and I would have an interview at the end. I came in the first day in business attire and the office manager showed me to the cleaning closet where I WAS THE CLEANING LADY FOR THE DAY. I didn't give up hope though and came in the next day (in business attire) to CLEAN AGAIN. At the end of the day I explained to the office manager my situation and that I was promised an interview by Beacon and she said THEY HAD ALREADY HIRED SOMEONE.
