The "supervisor" Taylor Mazzie was extremely unprofessional. I was working with another recruiter on a position and she stepped in. She verbally offered me the position with different details than I was given prior and forced me to make a decision on the spot. After sometime, I declined the position because of the miscommunication of the job description. She then went on to say how I was going to be looked at in a bad light moving forward for declining instead of being aware that Motion is the one with the communication issues. If the position did not meet my needs because the description kept changing, why am I being punished? WHO PROMOTED HER?!?!?!?!? read more

Can I give less than one star? This organization (with its many names) has wasted much too much of my time both as an applicant and as a hiring manager. It's a high pressure environment with high turnover in their office, which is filled with inexperienced recent grads who think they'll be able to support themselves based on commissions and bonuses. Just kind of like those pressure cookers who cold call you to try to get you to invest with their firm. Sell Sell Sell. As an applicant they wouldn't talk details with me about the "perfect position we've got for you" unless I actually visited their office... and then sat there waiting for them for half an hour. Turns out that they didn't actually have any positions that fit me. As a hiring manager they constantly called and sent me resumes for candidates that weren't even close to what I was looking for. Eventually we had to block their phone numbers. My advice: don't answer their ads, don't use them as recruiters, and don't work for them! read more

When I came to Boston and knew no one back in 2008, I recall being scammed into going to interview at this place. STAY AWAY! They try to figure out who you spoke with and tries to get that contact info out of you, so they could call them and try to pitch their candidates. They want to find out contact info for your former company and then calls them, tells them you suggested they should, and tries to pitch their scummy services. If you are gullible enough to show up to their sweatshop where there are rows of tables filled with new to town kids who could find no other job (and could not be any further from professional recruiters), they will try to pass you around like a cheap whore and insult you. BTW, every couple of years they change the name of the company to cover up the scam. They used to be Remington International. read more

These guys used to be Remington International. New name, same old BS... The game they play is this: post a job on Dice, Monster, Craigslist, etc to make it look like an actual firm looking to hire. Then you get the call from their "boiler room" - when you ask them to tell you about the job you applied for, they always respond with "I don't have all the information on that position yet, but let's talk about your background and see if my team has anything for you..." It's all a come-on. This place is staffed with fresh college grads who average about 3 months on the job before quitting. They get paid to talk to folks and get resumes into their database. The actual job you are applying for doesn't really exist in most cases. These folks also have an annoying way of calling you and saying "Hey, how's it going?" They then wait for you to say "Who's this?" before sucking you into a conversation about "your background." It's all a boiler room, telemarketing come-on that has been creating so much noise in the Boston tech market for over a decade now. Also, the "children" who work the phones have no idea what a sysadmin, DBA, or web UI specialist does, so whether or not you're a fit for the job is anyone's guess. I generally hate staffing agencies, and rarely talk to any recruiter more than once. read more

Double edged sword! These guys are fine if you want to find a job quickly and with a decent fit, but if you try to stop working with them WATCH OUT! I was reeled in by responding to a job on Craigslist. I thought I was going to hear from the company, but instead I had to come in and meet them. I did, and was passed around between agents until near exhaustion. They seemed to be trying to set me up with as many interviews as possible before allowing me to talk to the only one I cared about. I felt uncomfortable, and called to ask that I no longer be working with them, after which I was pushed and pushed and asked to listen to a rehash of their philosophy. When I finally was able to get off the phone, I was called by a manager who proceeded to insult me, indicating that he was listening to the entire previous conversation and that he wouldn't want his clients working with me anyway. He continued to berate me and push me for some reason, ostensibly so that he could give some answer to his manager so it wouldn't look like his screw-up. I came up with, "I'd prefer to work on hardware," which finally made it click for the guy that I wasn't the right candidate for them to try to place. I left with a strongly foul taste which will make me think twice before using an agency again, and I'll stay far away from this one in particular. read more

I couldn't recommend Jobspring's services to anyone looking for a job. I worked with three representatives who dredged up about 8 opportunities in 3 months. They rarely provided job descriptions for the jobs I interviewed for (that in most cases were right on the company websites), and usually only contacted me if I reached out to them first. I was under or over qualified for all of the opportunities they 'matched' me with, and they indicated they typically get clients jobs within 4 to 6 weeks. After 10 weeks, I found my own job. Take it with a grain of salt, though... you're not paying anyone, and they don't choose their clients. But, my recommendation is that anyone could do better searching for opportunities on their own. read more

I was skeptical about Workbridge when I first heard from them, given my experiences with other recruiters, both before and after I met with them (for example, Professional Staffing Group misled me into believing there was an active position I was coming in for), not to mention some of these terrible Yelp! reviews, some of which seem fair, others which seem unrealistic. My story: I submitted a resume for a job listing they had on Craig's List. They pre-interviewed me by phone and brought me in to meet with the client a couple of days later, preceded by a meeting with the particular recruiter to get to know my interests better, go over my resume's strengths and weaknesses, and to learn more about the company I was interviewing for. It was handy to have someone who knew the client enough to prepare me for the interview, too. That went pretty well, and it took place right in their offices, so that was also handy. I ended up going to a final round of interviews at the company, with more (perhaps too much) 'coaching' along the way. And, though I didn't get the offer, it was a smooth process overall, and I was glad for the experience. At the same time, another recruiter at the company had a lead on something for me that didn't materialize, but she did contact me a few weeks later out of the blue with a temp-to-perm opportunity that did ultimately pan out. I accepted the offer yesterday and signed papers today. Again, things were pretty smooth throughout the process, from first contact to signing the papers. I did feel that there was more phone time with Workbridge than I would have liked, recapping or repeating a bunch of things on several occasions, but it wasn't a nuisance or anything, and I gathered that this helped them do their best to go back and forth between the client and me to make sure we were both having all our questions answered and concerns addressed. The recruiters here seem to be "Always Be Closing" types. On one hand, this produced more on-the-spot pressure than I was always ready for. But, on the other hand, this approach makes sense in that it also compels one to become more engaged with the process, to think more deeply about it instead of floating along or putting things off until the offer to sort it all out, going back-and-forth at the finish line instead of sorting things out in advance. That's genuinely helpful. And, frankly, having them in the middle for salary negotiations is also nice. At the end of the day, I felt super-confident accepting the offer. Overall, for others in a similar position to me, I'd suggest trying to work with a lead recruiter at Workbridge to get placed in a tech position, especially if you are having trouble connecting directly with companies on your own. Honestly, while my resume is interesting and fun to talk about, and I have a breadth of knowledge and skills, anyone in technology looking at my resume cold couldn't be blamed for moving to the next one in the inbox, so I'm fairly confident that being pitched by Workbridge helped at least somewhat with my new position. I do hope they have sorted out or sort out some of the issues I'm seeing complaints about here, because it would be a shame to see this group's reputation hurt by basic things like not knowing when to stop calling and a reputation for running a Boiler Room-like operation. read more

For all those who will read my review and the review of others, I can say that my experience was nothing less the enjoyable. i can't speak for the company, but if the company is any reflection on the manor in which the recruiter who helped me, then this is a company to put in your sights. I had a very positive experience working with Workbridge Associates, specifically the team that deals with IT infrastructure support (sysadmins, technical support engineers, etc.). I originally found their listing on a few job boards and it was clear to me that I was contacting a recruiting agency and not applying for a job itself, so I cannot speak for those suggesting false information and the like. The next day I received a call to meet with the team I would be working with and had a very pleasant experience doing so. After some time of minimal contact, things started to kick back up and I had weekly check-ins with a member from the team I was working with. This eventually led to a multiple interviews with an employer I had successfully landed a job with. I found the feedback provided by my Workbridge team helpful as they always made sure I was prepared for an upcoming interview. My sole gripe would be that the information provided can often be reiterated a few too many times, and many times the questions I'm asked feel more like they're being read from a script as opposed to genuine curiosity. But overall, if you need some extra help landing a role, I would advise you to give Workbridge a chance. You never know what opportunity may arise, and when coupled with your own job searching, you may find them to be an excellent resource. read more

In the field of technical recruiters, these folks (including Shane), are notable in a couple of ways. What I find refreshing about Shane and his colleagues is that they actually are interested in learning about technology and supporting the technical community. Yes, there are "sound business reasons" to do this, but few other firms seem to take the initiative. I've been impressed with their professionalism, their responsiveness, and honesty. These are sometimes in short supply in this industry. No, they aren't perfect. I've been on a few misadventures with them. But they've acknowledged, responded, and learned. That's a good test. In any business that is sales or matchmaking, not every candidate or opportunity is going to work out - that's how it is. But I have no hesitation in recommending Jobspring as a resource - and I'm happy with my interactions with them. read more

I had a fantastic experience working with Jobspring for 7 months. They are incredibly responsive, personable, and professional. I've recommended Jobspring to my fellow software engineering friends, and will continue to do so. At the time, I had been working full-time on my own startup of 1.5 years, and needed to take on some part-time dev work to help pay the bills. On a whim, I applied to a few places on Craigslist, and literally within 5 minutes I was on the phone with Sally from Jobspring talking about various part-time engineering opportunities in Boston. They scheduled me for an office visit and some interviews in the following days. I preferred a startup environment, and in less than a week turnaround, I accepted a contracting position at the best engineering company of its size in Boston. I worked with Carole at Jobspring while doing my part-time work. She would often check-in to see how everything was going, if it was a good fit, etc, and was always promptly available by phone or email, even when I was not as responsive. She also let me know if I was late in submitting hours to make sure I was getting paid on time. In summary, Jobspring placed me in a part-time role at a company that was the absolute best fit for me. JobSpring Boston is filled with wonderful groups of hard working people that really care about getting you a job. I applied to a job through JobSpring a couple months ago and although that job didn't work out, the team at JobSpring started to send me other opportunities that were similar. They worked tirelessly to keep finding me opportunities in the field, submitting me for 3-5 applications a week and even working until 7:30pm most nights. Not only did they submit my application for me to all these jobs, they also were great interview coaches and gave me specific tips on how to appeal to each company. After each interview, they would give me a call to take notes on how it went and the questions they asked, as a way to compile data for their other candidates, as well as a comforting and encouraging conversation after the stress of interviews. After a couple months of going through a lot of interviews, the team at JobSpring landed me my dream job and I couldn't be more thankful. I have worked with other recruiter companies such as Cyber Coders, and have felt very uncared for. I found myself calling and emailing their recruiters every day after having an interview and not getting a response for several weeks. Words of Advice: I had the opportunity of going into the JobSpring office and meeting everyone, which I would strongly recommend because it allows them to sell your personality more easily to job recruiters. Plus, they are all a really fun group of people. Worked with Workbridge twice now for a job in software engineering. The first time through they brought me to several different companies, but nothing came of it (no fault of theirs). What really impressed me that first time is that I never really felt like I was just being shoved from one interview to the next. Despite being fairly inexperienced and having some odd requirements, they took a lot of time to get to know me, and didn't hold it against me that I also pursued positions on me own. When I did find a job, they congratulated me and wished me the best. A year and a half later, when I went back on the market it was easy to reach out as we'd kept in sporadic touch. With a little more seasoning under my belt and a better job market I came out with some pretty aggressive goals about position and salary. We took a lot of time to talk about this (be prepared for A LOT of communication), and set out clear guidelines to what I wanted. Over the course of a month I went on 4 interviews and came away from all of them feeling good. I felt well matched for the positions they had chosen. They have a very structured process, and it was nice for me to always know what the next steps were. In one case I declined, and I was able to pass through Workbridge, in another case an employer did the same for me, and they handled the otherwise awkward communication (if any, I've definitely waited weeks for a call after an interview that never came.) When I finally made my choice, they already had an idea of what I was ready to accept. Without getting into details, I had expected near my minimum number, which would have been fine, and still earned a 4 star review. Afterwards it became clear they had negotiated on my behalf. I came away with all I had asked for and more. read more

I was searching for a job after I graduated college. I posted my resume on Monster and got inundated with lots of messages from several recruiters in a couple days, one of which was Jobspring. At first, I was thinking that some of this might work out. Despite my stated job requirements and my qualifications, none of the companies they peddled my way worked out for me. I will detail my three major issues with Jobspring below. 1. At one point, in the midst of my job search, while I was interviewing directly with other companies and prioritized my job search to focus on those companies, I got a phone call where I was scolded for not being "communicative" with Jobspring. My naive self said "eh, whatever, brush off the scolding" because I still had hope that a job might come through, but looking back, I should have told them to stop contacting me right then and there. They have no right to be rude, demeaning, and immature like that to people they are trying to work with, not against! 2. I met their clients (company interviewers/representatives) at the Jobspring office for initial screens. Of the dozen or so companies they were working with, I ended up only receiving serious interest from one of the companies, which led to an informal offer. However, I was way overqualified for the job, and the verbal salary range was 30% lower than what I had wanted (and about 25% less than what I ended up getting at my future employer), so I declined. I am writing about this not because of the fact that I got a pathetic, low-ball offer, but more about the fact that one of the recruiters tried to peddle this job really hard and force me to take it despite my concerns about the poor compensation. In any case, they told me that "they wouldn't want me to miss out on this perfect job," implying that this would be the best (or close to the best) offer I would receive, period, and this comment was downright insulting because the offer was far from perfect. I stood my ground and told them that the offer would have to come with a significant pay increase, otherwise I could not accept it in good conscience. The company would not increase the offer, so I told Jobspring that I could not accept it. If nothing else, I at least got some more interview practice, but they should have realized that most people with an ounce of self-worth wouldn't go for such a low-ball offer. 3. Finally, I managed to find a job without the help of Jobspring, and the offer was good enough for me (ie, close enough to my initial compensation range). I informed Jobspring of this news just after I had accepted my offer, and that I would no longer need their services. I figured that I would be free at last. Despite this, they have not stopped contacting me, nearly 5 years later! I got emails from them literally a month after my search ended. I have still been receiving phone calls from recruiters I have not worked with directly, pretty much along the lines of "Hey, I found your resume in an old stack, and I think I found a position for you." Most of the time, they have called my cell phone (which was listed on the resume I used years ago), but in about 3 or 4 cases, they have called me at my current work phone number, which is shady because: a) I have never communicated to them that I even work at said company and that it was okay to reach me via my work number; b) the number is unlisted, as I am not in a role where my phone number is available to the general public. Thankfully, the frequency of calls has gone down over the years. I always let calls from unknown/unwanted phone numbers go to voicemail; if I haven't answered the phone/returned their calls since my initial job hunt ended, one would think they would get the hint. When I thought I was finally free from them at last, just a couple weeks ago, one of the newer recruiters (who wasn't with Jobspring during my job search) sent me a LinkedIn request, despite the fact that I no longer reside in the Boston area. I accepted LinkedIn requests from recruiters who I had worked with in the past, but as a rule of thumb, I never accept requests from people I have not directly met/worked with or those outside of my workplace/college/immediate social circles. Overall, I give 1.25 stars, mostly due to my negative experiences mentioned above. Jobspring's services can potentially help in the immediate event that someone needs a job and does not mind being possibly underemployed, but I am not fond of their tactics. As with most third-party recruiters, they're in it for themselves; their lack of manners, lack of maturity, peddling a low-ball offer, and phone calls/attempted contact nearly 5 years later speak volumes to their business tactics. Personally, if I found myself out of a job, I would rather conduct the search myself instead of using Jobspring's services, which I found useless for my purposes other than interview practice. I guess for a free service as a job seeker, it's hard to expect much in terms of its quality. read more

I made my way to Boston to conduct these interviews and had an absolutely great experience finding a potential fit for my skill set. JP, Matt, Kioron, Samantha, and Phil have been instrumental in getting me employed in a new city. I can honestly say I've enjoyed this experience more than the one in New York (and these guys were good) and they have a lot of fun while at it! They sound very upbeat and energetic but they try to pry information out of you like "Rob is still the hiring manager at your current company, right?"....They don't know anyone at my company, they are waiting for me to say the persons name so they can leach their way in to talk to him/her. And I politely ask for the Workbridge employee's contact info so I can pass it along to my boss and they keep trying to suck information from me like " Let me just email you my contact info". This is after I asked her twice for her info. But no, she disregards what I said and is trying to get my email address so she can send me emails. I hate this slimy business. This place is run by what I can only characterize as inexperienced college dropouts. If you are experienced in your field look elsewhere, as these guys would screw up a free lunch. They are clueless about the hiring process and the recruitment process, and can't tell the difference between someone who's qualified and someone who just talks a good game. Being incompetent themselves, they treat everyone as if they are idiots and try to give platitudinous advice which becomes very irritating quickly. It's bad for prospective job seekers, and I imagine it's much worse for their happless clients whom they punish by sending them a parade of underqualified candidates. read more
