Come here for wet fun in the sun with light-to-no crowds and easy access to adult beverages and food. To me, it's well worth it if you have kids and don't want to drive to New Braunfels or San Antonio for a day at a waterpark. Our family enjoyed Shore Club Volente Beach (SCVB) for July 4th this year. Because we'd visited many times in the past, I knew the tricks for getting the most bang for our bucks: 1. Buy tickets at Randalls for $5 off the regular price ($22 for anyone at/over 42 inches tall). No holiday restrictions! If you don't have time for a Randalls pitstop, you can also print off lesser discount coupons from Yellow Pages linked from the SCVB website. 2. Bring a rolling cooler packed with any prepared food or drinks you may want (excluding alcohol and glass) so that you don't pay the crazy amusement park refreshment prices. Essentials: sunscreen, lip balm, sunglasses, hats, towels. Also nice to have: goggles, nylon rash guard shirts, water shoes, volley ball, frisbee, floatie rings, extra folding chairs, etc. -- anything you'd want for a day at the lake or beach. We have never had our cooler or bags searched upon entry, so there's no hassle there, but the policy may be different if you aren't rolling in with small kids. 3. Park in the $5 lot under the trees facing the road at Dodd Street. This way, your car is shaded all day and not so miserable when you head home. Note: you get a refund on parking if you eat in the fancier Shore Club restaurant (steaks & seafood, around $30pp), but no wet clothes are allowed in there. 4. Get there just before the park opens at 11a, so you get a chance to enjoy all of the attractions (there are really only 6 if the lake is low, and 4 of them are slides accessed via the tall staircase at the bottom of the hill) before the crowd fills in. If there is a big line at the gate, have one of your party go to the front and politely ask if there is another process for people with tickets already in hand -- we did, and one of the staff members came out to the line and offered wristbands and alternate entry to anyone with tickets. This saved us at least 10 minutes and gave us the jump on #5 below. 5. Proceed immediately to the lower pool area & claim one of the shady spots under a giant umbrella or one of the clam-shell loungers with shade. He who is without shade will be sorry! You can also bring in your own chairs with shade attached, or set up camp at one of the many shaded picnic & cafe tables around the park (but not very near the pool, so not the best option if your kid is half-fish). Speaking of fish, the water in this park is pumped in from Lake Travis and recirculated back to the lake, so there's no chlorine and limited filtration. You'll see some bits of lake weed, etc. in the water and the pool has a slight greenish tinge. Don't freak out! We've been here many times and no one has brain amoebas yet. Of the 4 waterslides, I'd say the dark tunnel (Roadrunner) and the steep 2-person tube ride (Side Winder) are the most thrilling and satisfying. The open-top slide (Flash Flood) doesn't have enough water in it and you are liable to find yourself stuck halfway down, scooting along by hand to get going again. The swirly toilet bowl (Texas Twister) is over too fast but you need to try it at least once. For the little ones, the frog slide in Lazy Lagoon and the big toddler's area at the sprinkler-filled Pirate Ship at the park's entrance are a blast. On weekends and holidays, they open up the lagoon's poolside bar serving canned beer ($3.50) and limited cocktails ($5). Otherwise, you can access adult beverages at the outdoor bar behind the sand volleyball court. Bring cash or plastic for this. We loved feeling a bit like we were at a vacation resort, sitting on the shaded, tiled stools in the water at the palapa-covered swim-up bar, chatting with other guests, and watching the kids and some parents have a blast playing water volleyball. We wound up heading out after having our fill of the park around 5pm and it was *packed* by the time we left. The DJ was starting to spin his own creative mix (which somehow included an overlay of Journey's Don't Stop Believing in every 4th song). Older teens and adults were streaming in and setting up to spend the evening enjoying the park and then staying for the holiday fireworks after dark. We might try this when our son gets older, but for now, I was quite glad to be on my way before any "Grown Ups Gone Wild" antics ensued. If you live nearby and think you'll be back before the summer ends, it may be worth it to get the $11 "splashback" return ticket when you exit the park, or even the $60 season pass (which costs about as much as 3 full priced or 4 discounted tickets). Final tip: weekdays are always a good bet for more manageable crowds. That's when we usually come to SCVB and it's generally been quite nice for a family with young kids. read more

I agree with what David B. said, but have a few pros and cons to add to the list. In short, I would say skip Volente Beach Waterpark and put the $20 towards a better water park or renting a boat to go water skiing or tubing out on the lake. Pros: Absolutely no lines for the 4 slides and a nice view of Lake Travis (when it's not in drought mode) Cons: Definitely lacks curb appeal - you arrive and ask yourself, is that it? Also, there are only 4 slides which are all really short so you can get bored quickly. read more

We are here on the prettiest day of the year and there are about 10 other people here total. Volente Waterpark is kinda like a resort pool with some slides, but you don't have to pay for the vacation to enjoy the amenities. They use the lake water which is refreshing and cold. We came after 3 pm, which got us in at 12.99 a person. 3 hours is plenty of sun time. The slides are not too extravagant, but they add a nice touch. My 9 year old loves it here. The location itself, really sells the place because of the overlooking view of Lake Travis: like I said.. Vacay without the price! It's a cool little getaway when you don't want to deal with the crowds, but still want to be away from it all. We will def come back!! And the food is fantastic! read more

The place is small and I like that because you can relax while you watch the kiddos. The water is lake water, which is fine, but it is pretty dirty (grass, bugs). I would think they'd have a filter system or something but I guess not. The kids had a blast, they have 3 or 4 water slides for their entertainment. Got some cool pics! Personally I'd rather hang out at our neighborhood pool, but it was nice to get away and give the kids a different experience. You can bring coolers in which is nice, and they have a bar and the burgers are pretty good. I'd probably only go back if the kids begged me, but it was a nice experience and I'm glad I know what Volente Beach is all about. 3 stars for me, but I'd bet the kids would pick 5 stars! :) P.S. I got a Groupon-type deal, $12 a ticket. I wouldn't pay any more than that, that's for sure! read more

We went for Jaws on the Water. First I'd like to say how helpful they were even before we ever went for the event. I called several times and they were very pleasant, answered all my questions, and gave great advice on what to expect at the event. The day of the event they were very helpful with helping us find a parking spot. Then they seated us immediately wherever we wanted to sit. Granted we got their early and they were not busy yet. Our waitress was very friendly. Four stars are just because the food isn't the most amazing but it's decent. It's definitely a fun experience and worth visiting. I did enjoy the Loaded House Chips but warning they are HOT! I did not care for the Buffalo Chicken Wrap at all and didn't even eat it. Drinks were good! read more

Ordered the "wet spicey jerk" and this is what I got. It was basically the "dry jerk rub" with buffalo sauce poured on top of it. I argued this with the waitress that this wasn't right and she said that's how it comes. I thought this was very odd and I didn't eat any of them. I've never had Jamaican jerk chicken that used buffalo sauce and if this is truly how it is made then I wouldn't recommend it. I would have gave it 4-5 stars, but since I had to argue about taking this off my check I'm giving it 2 stars because my kids fries were good and my wife liked hers. After spending a great day at the lake/beach/slides we were looking forward to eating here. Food was OK, service not so much. When we got there, we went inside and asked where we should sit. Went back out to the porch and sat down. Waited around 10 min; went back in to ask for menus-young woman came out with menus and said our waitress would be out to us. We waited another 20 min-no one even came to get drink/soda orders-thank heavens there was help yourself water (meanwhile, waitstaff serving others around us). I was gathering the whole families menus for departure when a waitress finally came over and asked if anyone had gotten us started...Once we overcame our invisibility, food came out promptly. It was average. Only other issue was the parking lot. What a disaster. All exits were chained off. Both sides of entrance booth had lines of cars trying to get in. Many cars were circling the lot looking for an exit, ultimately ending up stacked up around the entrance trying to get out; anyone with a vehicle capable of doing so was driving through the brush ( to the side of cars entering) to exit to the road. We may come back to the lake-parking may not be such a disaster on a less crowded day. We will research other places for dining options. read more

What a refreshing treat. Lake view, fun sounds of activity at the water park...and great service. I had the chicken wings! I love chicken wings (my belt maybe not so much) and I was delighted with my choice (one recommended by the wait staff). Shhh...don't tell the owner they gave me one extra! First time here. Saturday evening, live band, great lakeside location. That's where the "great" stopped. We went out for my sister's birthday, heard good things, but after 20 minutes of sitting at our table without a word from anyone. We hailed the busboy. He was super friendly, but couldn't help is. We ended up having to go to the bar to get any drinks. Finally, after 25 minutes we snagged a waiter that walked by us asking for help. He said they were too busy and not taking food orders for an hour and 45 minutes. Later we were told there were only 2 wait staff and 2 cooks. . What kind of manager has 2 cooks and 2 wait staff for a Saturday afternoon/evening? So, after an hour of hanging out, and still never getting a server to help us, we left. 2 stars for the view and band. 0 stars for the restaurant and bar. read more

Not worth the money. My family and I went on Sunday to enjoy a nice day on the lake. We weren't going to ride any rides or get in the pools, and it was still over $12 PER PERSON just to sit in their "private beach". I then went to order a drink, and the sign at the bar advertised "Specialty Margaritas $5". I ordered 2 drinks and the total was $16! I told the bartender that wasn't right because the sign very clearly said otherwise, so he CHANGED THE SIGN to $8 and WOULDN'T honor the price! I was absolutely disgusted at the way they handled the situation, and will definitely be taking my business elsewhere. Absolutely horrible, and unacceptable experience. Edit for the response: This same conversation was had on a Facebook review post. The entire situation was handled unprofessionally and unacceptably. If this is how he likes to treat and talk to customers, that's fine, that's his choice. But it was my honest review, and my choice to never return and never recommend their business. read more

Before I made my first trip to Volente Beach today, I read up on other reviews and looked for online coupons. The only discounts I could find were from past "groupon-ish" offers, mainly buy 4 for $40. We got an employee tip that tickets at Randall's were $14 (vs $20 at the door), so I found that reasonable and bought in. The drive was kind of pretty, and about 10 miles away, so that was nice. When we got there, we found that parking is now $5 a car - bummer, but my friend picked up the tab on that in exchange for me driving (great idea, friend!). There were 4 water rides, a large picnic area, a DJ, food, wading pool, water alligator, swim-up bar, and this mini "water ropes course" for kids that us adults found rather entertaining to try. Btw, I didn't realize what a wimp I am until today b/c I felt like I was gonna totally fly out of the inner tube to my death on my second ride. So glad I survived! :p Four of us gals went, and we had a good time. Lots of kids on a saturday, but lines were totally reasonable. Oh, and the view of the water rivals that of Oasis, in my opinion, and the sun setting over Lake Travis was really beautiful. I love that I can live in North Austin and 20 min later be in full view of large body of water and a beach. One last thing, there is something nice about being in a man-made playground fed with water from the nearby lake. No chlorine, and no yucky lake-bottom to wade through, made it really nice to play in the water on this hot Texas day. read more

My company had planned the last two years summer party at Volente Beach. I went the first year and skipped last year. 1. Four slides/rides does not a waterpark make. 2. Your pools, of which there are exactly four (that I can recall) are completely filled to the brim. You can't possibly keep a safe environment with that many snot nosed, barely swimming kids in one pool. I know, I used to be a lifeguard. 3. Let me get this right...I can't go swim down at the lake because you only allow a certain amount of people at a time? I'm in my thirties and a former lifeguard - I think I can handle swimming in the lake. 4. Volente Beach Waterpark isn't worth your time, the entrance fee or your gas money. read more

I am not crazy about this place and would never choose to go here on my own by myself. But, I do visit several times each summer with my family and it is usually a fun day for everyone. This is a great place for families with kids and teens and I am sure they would give a higher star. The park has a nice clean sandy beach on Lake Travis, a pool, water slides and a kiddie pool with a Pirate Ship, a sandy volley ball court and a play ground for the kids. The marina rents boats and there is a restaurant that serves Seafood, Burgers and sandwiches. The facts: The park is only open on weekends mid April - June and August - mid September. Open 7 days a week summer months 10A - 8PM. You pay 5.00 to park - they have a shuttle bus back to the park or you can walk. Kiddos are 14.99 and adults 19.99 or 40.00 for a Season Pass - if you have kids and live in Austin do the math. The day pass is way over priced. On Mother's Day and Father's Day parent of the day gets in free if they bring the kids. In my humble opinion it is not a cool place for a late 30's person without kids. But, if you do have kids Woo Hoo the kids will love it and you will probably have fun also. read more

Beachside Billy's has a great laid back atmosphere with good food. The best part for me was that have the Beyond Meat Veggie burger and you can substitute at burger they make with it. That may not seem like a big deal but most places have horrible veggie burgers that are made one way and that's it. So it's great to have that variety. There's plenty to do at this place as well. Well I have been to the water park about four times and even recently went to the Adults night out. The drinks are highly overpriced and w really no alcohol in them. So basically I advise to start drinking before you even get here... 7.00 bucks for a drink in a.plastic cup! The water park is ok.. honestly I have more fun at Lifetime fitness and their slides. I will say though, the view is pretty and the drive there isn't bad. It's not a bad place to go with little kids, as my 9 year old still likes it. Parking is 5 bucks and you can bring your own food, No cooler fee or stupid thing like that (Hawaiin Falls IM talking bout you!!!) .. Get your tickets at Randalls and check it out :) read more

This place is small and often crowded. For smaller children this place is perfect...not easy to get lost and the rides are comparable for their size! I would recommend a bigger park for middle schoolers or older. There is a beach area by the lake for anyone to lay out...and a bar on the side for those of age:) read more

We had to visit at least once, but how could you ever go more than once? Round Rock's Rock'N River is less expensive and closer, and Schlitterbahn is World Class. The place is not bad, there is just no way it can compete with Cheap & Close or World Class. read more

Volente Beach is not a destination. Volente Beach is a mudhole that's totally out of the way for any Austinite. There's one slide. It's not impressive. The waterpark is full of flies. The "beach" is tiny and full of large rocks. It's kind of a mess. I would avoid it if I were you. Go to Schlitterbahn in New Braunfels instead. read more

Do Not add meat to your Better add meat nachos especially the recommended chicken option.. got food poisoning from the batch. Ordered no beans got beans, they remade it and whipped me up a nice undercooked chicken version. Credit to the bartender for remaking she bumped this up to two stars. Hopefully the cook staff can figure out how to cook a piece of chicken the thickness of the rolls of the of toilet paper I've gone through. read more

Ive been coming to beach side Billy's for a few months and noticed many of things. poorly understaffed, food mistakes, long wait times, there was even a time that I had bugs in my food. Very , very, very dysfunctional team. quality of food was good when I first started coming but then all of a sudden things went poorly downhill. It's been re-done and is CLEAN!!! I was pleasantly surprised! Water was very clean, I couldn't believe it was lake water! Kiddos loved it so much we bought season passes. Beachside Billy's has delicious food, and I heard it's under new management as well. We had tuna tostadas that were super fresh and delicious, and a blackened shrimp salad that was yummy! My kids loved their burgers and my husband loved his seared ahi tuna sandwich. Ignore the older reviews, because the new owners have revamped the park and it's nice now!! Very happy. read more

The restaurant in front of the resort is very reasonable and great for a stop by after a motorcycle ride or a leisure ride in the car. The folks here are extremely nice and they do not use MSG in their food which is great for folks like me that have bad reactions to MSG. Very reasonably priced - heck an appetizer with a drink $10 bucks , have been there twice , as far as entrees go, not sure. read more
