My nails were super weak from having acrylics on previously and I ended up completely chipping one when my nailed accidentally folded. I'm from RI and I'm currently on vacation in OBX. I called to make an appointment for a fill, but ultimately, I needed a new set due to the lack of stability with my nails (which i was fine with) but while doing my nails, the nail tech kept complaining how long and thick my nails were. She kept repeating, "you're lucky im doing this", "i don't know why i agreed to do this", "i've never seen nails this long, to me, this isn't cute." Regardless of her opinions and rude remarks, I still tipped $10. While drying my nails under their cool light (which doesn't dry nails well), she reminded me I can leave in a few minutes trying to rush me out. My nails are decently done. Best of all.. when I first arrived she looked at my chest and said, "wow you have beautiful breasts." She did a decent job, but her communication skills and lack of professionalism threw me to 2 stars. read more

Only giving 1 star because you can't give 0. The owner (I'm assuming) was a slave driver and I was extremely disappointed in the way she treated us. We brought 8 women through for my friend's wedding. We are were in great moods, excited for our girl to get married, and ready to spend some $ (tips too of course). At first, the owner was kind, but then she grew increasingly rude, unprofessional, and I felt like we were being bullied by the time we were paying up. She did my manicure and was nice, but I caught her rolling her eyes several times throughout our time there. When the final girl was done having her nails painted, the owner immediately looks at me and asks, "How are you paying? Together? Separate? How are you tipping? Cash only!" Surprised by this, I looked around and asked if anyone new that we had to tip in cash. I then asked the owner, "Can we tip on our card?" The owner puts her leg up on her chair (Captain Morgan style) and says in a very stern tone, "Cash tips ONLY!" I became very uncomfortable because I was sitting down and looking up at her like a scared little kid. I told the owner that we did not have enough cash to ensure that everyone gets a good tip, but we wish to tip on our cards. The owner, with her hand on her hip, than asks, "How much tip to put on the card?!" At this point, the entire salon was silent and the last thing I wanted to do was tip her at all. The owner repeated herself and says, "How much tip?!" I stand up and looked at her and told her she was making me extremely uncomfortable and to please run my card. The owner stared at me and ran my card. Before I left to pull the card around, I tipped my pedicurist (in cash) because she was absolutely lovely and I felt bad that she had to work with such a miserable human being. I called to schedule an appointment based on other reviews that said walk-ins were hard to accommodate, and had no problem getting an early morning appointment for the next day. The shop is clean and well lit. Chairs are comfortable. Pedicure was great and the pedicurist was extremely attentive to shaping and the edges of my nail beds. Color has been on now for two weeks without a single chip. My manicure was fantastic! The manicurist agreed to copy a design I'd found on Instagram and although it took a bit of time, was so sweet and focused on perfecting it down to the last line. They applied extra top coat and even though it was just a regular mani, it lasted 13 days without a single chip. Highly recommend this place! read more

I had a last minute appointment and had to wait 20 minutes which wasn't a big surprise. As I waited the lady next to me was getting a pedicure. My pedicure was next and the young lady rushed through it and eventually made me bleed. She then poured some sort of concoction (from a nail polish bottle) that burned like crazy! When she was finally done the lady next to me, that was getting a pedicure when I walked in- STILL WASN'T FINISHED. Then they had a nerve to charge me $30 something bucks? Yeah, nope. These nails were done on Saturday and today on Monday they are wrecked, I didn't do anything to prompt this. Even leaving the salon the edges were lopsided and as soon as I got home a nail chipped. One of the nail techs had their two boys running around the store and they stopped doing my nails multiple times to go yell at them. After dealing with their children they returned to me with a horrible attitude, and never once apologized for leaving me mid-mani/pedi to attempt to discipline their children. read more

Being as this is the only nail salon in Corolla, it is expected to be popular. While they say they accept walk ins (they have a sign outside), the two times I have visited Corolla in the past couple of years, I have never been able to get a walk in appointment. I went on the first day I arrived, around 2 pm on a Sunday to get a quick gel manicure before the week began. I waited an hour before I was told that they had an appointment coming in and could not accommodate me. Gee thanks for letting me wait instead of soaking up the sun. I made an appointment for Tuesday at 3:00 with my girlfriend because I was unable to get an appointment for Monday. On Tuesday I show up 5 minutes early, making sure I wouldn't be bumped from my appointment. Well that plan didn't work, as a group of 5 women had apparently walked in 10 minutes before and were going to get served before my party (oh, and they were all mani/pedis). I should also mention that there are only 3 girls working (though they seem to have more stations). Over an hour passes and I finally sit down to get my gel manicure and then am informed that only have 10 gel colors. What? Are you kididng me? I am going to spend $40 on a gel manicure (way over priced and I'm from Connecticut) and not be able to chose a pretty color? The ONLY reason this place gets 2 stars is because the did a good job on the manicure. Lasted 3 weeks while I was on a sandy vacation in OBX and then the Cape. So thanks? read more

I had the most UNCOMFORTABLE experience at Beach Nails. Unfortunately, They were extremely unprofessional. I asked where the Gel Nail colors were and they said "any of them will work for gel". I thought this was odd, but nonetheless picked out a color I wanted and sat where I was directed by the technician. Upon examination of my feet, she made extremely rude comments about the condition of my dry skin and asked when the last time I had a pedicure. I gave her the information she needed and she did not stop! She continued speaking in Vietnamese to her colleague - who clearly, did a 180 and looked over at me and laughed. I continued to feel very uncomfortable as she then lectured me on lotion, etc. Seriously, they were not that bad and I had a pedicure 18 days earlier! Then, she told me the color I had selected was not for gel.......ugh. It was just not a good experience and I will NEVER return. read more

Called and scheduled an appointment late in the afternoon and asked for them to call if anything opened up sooner. Wasn't expecting to receive a call 10 minutes later. As soon as I got there, a chair opened up and they slide me right in. Got a manicure and pedicure, at the same time (so I'm feeling pampered). Both of the wonderful ladies working on my nails paid close attention to detail and asked my opinion on nail length, shape and color to ensure I got exactly what I wanted. Beach Nails was so busy but they still got me in for an appointment the same day. The one girl that did my pedicure was so good and my feet felt wonderful afterwards. The owner did my manicure and my cuticles were so clean. She took the time to explain the difference between gel and dip and the benefits of one versus the other. I was treated extremely rudely at this salon, and would never go back or recommend it. Full disclosure: I dropped a bottle of their nail polish on the tile floor while I was waiting for my (scheduled) pedicure appt. I immediately apologized precisely, offered to clean it up or help, and offered to pay for the polish. The owner/manager/ woman in charge was so mean when it happened. I almost cried, and would have left but my friend had already begun her pedi. Two other groups of people walked in during our appt, and the owner loudly told everyone that they were running late because "there had been an accident". I didn't think the 2-3 minutes she took to clean up the polish would have set the salon back 30 minutes, but ok. I was really embarrassed and felt like crying again. At the end, I was planning to give her $10 for the polish, but she added on $6 to my bill anyway so I left it at that. To be fair, the other woman who did my pedicure was really nice and did a good job, but she didn't even work there regularly, she was visiting from out of town. The owner even took her in the back and yelled at her before my appt began, something about the previous client, which made for an uncomfortable atmosphere. I've never felt so uncomfortable, and would have left if I could. I hope the owner reads this and realizes how horrible she was to a customer. GUYS STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! I'm only giving 1 star because there's no way to give 0 stars! I called yesterday to make an appt & was told there was no availability for that day, so I made an appt for today at 2pm! Got there & waited for at least 20-30 min. Was also told they were able to accommodate 7 people....they were not. So in shifts 5 of us got our nails done, which would usually be fine, but we are on vacation & wanted to have a girls day altogether, & two of us couldn't get our nails. AFTER HAVING THEM FOR AN HOUR, MY TWO BIG TOES CHIPPED. I even waited underneath the UV light WAY longer than normal, & they said I'm good to put on my shoes & I didn't....maybe I should've, so they could've seen their polish was still tacky! My mom also had a horrible experience! She got a French pedicure....it was bubbly, not straight lines, & no top coat! They also CUT HER FOOT!!!! Not to mention ANYTIME someone walked in they immediately would send them away & make them come back hours or days later. Small salons are fine but you need to have enough people working to accommodate! This is a vacation spot, there's gonna be tons of people wanting their nails done. HIGHLY RECOMMEND STAYING AWAY!!!! They did such an amazing job accommodating a group of 7 of us who wanted to get our nails done before an upcoming wedding! I got a gel manicure, and the attention-to-detail was incredible. My friend and I went in for a much needed pedicure today. I called yesterday after hours, didn't leave a message, but the proprietor called me first thing in the morning after checking her call id to offer an appointment. This was honestly one of the best pedis I have ever gotten. The tech really took her time and was very careful applying the color. My friend was also very pleased. We have been vacationing here annually and I absolutely plan to return next year for another pedi and probably a mani. Other reviews have indicated that wait times even w/ appointments were problematic. We had no trouble, walked right in to open chairs, however April is definitely not high season which might be a factor. read more

I realize it is the summer and they are very busy, but that is no excuse for incompetent service. I went in for a gel fill and the manager/owner applied the gel, cured it and painted. My nails are all bumping, thick and gross. I spent $38 + tip and had to spend 1 hour soaking my nails in acetone to take my gels off. Also, despite making an appointment, I had to wait 30 minutes. She did not refuse any walk in and kept people waiting up to an hour. I spend my summers down here and I will not be going back to them. read more

The manicures and pedicures were very well done, and the technicians were pleasant. They were gentle and did very good work. However, it is a very small salon, with only four pedicure chairs and four manicure stations. We had an appointment for four mani-pedis and there were only three technicians working. There was a 15 minute wait for the first two pedicures to start, and then another 10 minutes for the other two ladies to be helped, with one just sitting in the chair. I have to say, making a customer wait 35 minutes for a pedicure is ridiculous. I even called ahead to make sure they had enough space for the 3 of us and she said sure no problem. She should have said she didn't have room instead of trying to squeeze all of us in and having someone wait 35 minutes. Then I had to fix my own nail (never had to do that before) and barely scrubbed my feet which I'll have to fix on my own as well. It is the only nail salon in the area so you really don't have a choice. Just give yourself extra time to fix it yourself. read more
