Definitely will come back, I recommend coming 15 minutes before your massage so you can take advantage of the quiet room. They also have amazing skin care. My girlfriend planned a 1 hour couple session during our first day of vacation in OBX and when we arrived we discovered that the therapist cancelled and could not reschedule until our last day at OBX. They were only available to do a session on one of us which defeats the whole purpose of a couple massage. When we arrived the greeter stated they sent us a message the day before via email which as we discovered they did. However they had no meaningful accommodations for us during the rest of our weeklong stay in OBX. What made it even worse is the attitude of the greeter at the counter. They had a snarky smirk on there faces as they spoke to us and as we walked away we could hear them giggling and laughing. Very unprofessional! We later learned that this location is one of the lowest rated ones in the Outer Banks area. Do yourself a favor and look around for better options. You cannot effectively count on them to provide services during you precious vacation time. read more

I really wanted to treat myself with a massage while in Corolla and was lucky enough to find Aqua Spa. I booked a shirobliss massage with Kathleen and it was absolutely glorious. I'd never experienced having running warm oil on my head but it was so relaxing after having my neck & shoulders worked on. The selection in their locker room for robes was astounding - big, small, various plus size robes and all labeled so you didn't have to dig. Price wise it's what you would expect in Duck, but not outrageous. The day after my massage I went back for a pedicure - since I'd booked online so last minute both treatments weren't available back to back. The sound view from the pedicure chair was gorgeous and so calming. Larisa did my pedicure and had me almost falling asleep with the leg massage. She also encouraged me to test out nail colors on my toes before committing which I loved. I can't wait to book a full day of pampering here when we return next summer. read more

They know what they're doing! Amidst the COVID restrictions, you are able to get a manicure! Make an appointment, Sign a waiver and temp check upon arrival. So- let me start off by saying I had a WONDERFUL experience with my masseuse and the ambiance was truly great, but, and I hate to do this on a review but I did try to get in touch with no success, I ended up with pink eye from my massage or as I imagine, from the massage pillow you put your face in. Yes, there was a disposable cover on the face rest, maybe it wasn't thrown away before? I'm really not sure but I racked my brain for almost an entire day of what else could've caused this and there's just nothing. I didn't go to the beach that day in fear I would get burned and not enjoy my massage, therefore no sunscreen or sand or sun in the eyes. Just be careful is what I'm saying. Unfortunately, this will be our last visit here. Three of us came here for a pedicure and really regretted it. The regular polish selection all looked like old polishes. Must have been because we all ended up with clumpy and/or uneven polish. The foot massage was barely anything and lasted less than 5 minutes. Our nail techs were also very chatty with each other about their personal stuff so we couldn't even relax! For the high pedicure prices, which I expect and understand for the location, I just expected more. We weren't even offered a beverage and when we asked for water, we were offered room temperature water in a small paper cup. I remember getting at least "spa" water in a glass in past visits here. I looked forward to a relaxing pedicure and this place was one of the worst for this in terms of what you get for paying double at other nail spas outside of Duck. After spending over $100 here for a pedicure, I ended up going to Walmart to buy nail polish remover and nail polish and redoing my nails myself. read more

This review is strictly regarding the bridal party package offered by Aqua Spa. I was recently a bridesmaid in my friend's wedding and she booked Aqua Spa to get our hair done for the big day. While the spa is nice and overlooked water, we were crammed into a corner as we each waited to get our hair done. Not a big deal, but when we were constantly made to feel in the way by staff, it became a little frustrating. All of that aside, the worst part would be the hair stylist making the bride cry before she even sat in the chair to get her hair done. The bride asked the lady doing our hair if she thought we were being too difficult and her reply was "yes" (this was asked bc the lady never spoke a word to us). She then told the bride she would just quit right there (it was not even the bride's turn yet) and that is when the bride cried. Mind you--NONE of us said a word about not liking our hair, kind of an uncomfortable thing to say. One person asked for more volume on the top. The bride crying was the worst, next would be the fact that the bride's mother and family had to redo each bridesmaid's hair because they looked horrible. We quickly realized we would need to jam out of there to get our hair fixed before the bride got her hair completed. A couple of girls stayed and a couple of us left to try and fix up the mess. As I went to the counter to pay an insane amount of money for this ($75.00), I was informed that there was an automatic gratuity added, which now put me at $90.00, super hard to hand over as you are heading out the door to get it fixed. I of course paid the money, as I did not want them to take it out on the bride, cause stress for her, or make the experience any worse. HOW could ANYONE working at a salon see our hair and take $90.00 from each of us, total joke. We were actually standing outside and a patron asked if we were going to get our hair done that day for a wedding and the kicker is...we already had it done! Please see my $90.00 side curls (taken right in the chair after it was done) and then see the after picture when it was fixed by the bride. Spas can be a great way to treat yourself. No doubt worth the money for the pampering at times, especially concerning a wedding. But, it is completely out of line to make a bride CRY. Luckily, all of our hair was redone and looked marvelous for her wedding. I am not sure if this is the usual treatment here and I have no doubt that it is a nice place to get a pedicure, but bridal parties----look further, this was torturous. Staff--look around you, pick up on the vibes. Customer service is not just something people talk about, it is a real thing that can make or break your business. Maybe get out of the wedding business if you cannot/do not want to accommodate. Also, Aqua, if you are reading this-- a refund for at least the added tip portion is definitely in order. My husband and I got a couple's massage here earlier today. They don't have a room with two tables, so we both got individual massages at the same time. We each got a 50 min Swedish massage, which was $250 total. I think the experience was well worth the price. I had Cory as my massage therapist and my husband had Melanie as his massage therapist. Cory pinpointed all of my problem areas with deep pressure to work out much of my tension. I will be sore tomorrow, but I am grateful he was able to help relieve some of my tension. My husband also had a great experience! Everyone we interacted with was super friendly and welcoming. I loved that the locker room had a shower and all of the toiletries you could need! It was nice to be able to remove all of the oil from my skin. Plus the hot shower made me feel instantly rejuvenated! My husband and I walked out of AQUA feeling so relaxed. The only thing that would have made our experience perfect was if the restaurant had been open. We had originally planned on having a light lunch there after our massage, but it was unexpectedly closed. We would definitely come back for their massage services next time we're in town! read more

The manager at this establishment discriminates against people with medical disabilities. I was refused service and to add insult to injury was told it would be illegal for the manager to make accommodation for me. In fact, the opposite is true, it is illegal for a business to refuse to make accommodation for patrons with existing medical disabilities. Please be on notice that the governor's executive order 163, page 10 (exemptions not amended by executive order 169) includes the following: "Exceptions. This Executive Order does not require Face Coverings for-and a Face Covering does not need to be worn by-a worker or Guest who: a. Should not wear a Face Covering due to any medical or behavioral condition or disability." And states further: "Anyone who declines to wear a Face Covering for these reasons should not be required to produce documentation or any other proof of a condition." I'm not trying to take money out of anyone's pocket, or close down a business, but I want the manager at AQUA to know that I have legal grounds to file a discrimination complaint under the Americans with Disabilities Act with penalties up to $75,000. This review is for their spa reservation system. I initially tried to book online and was directed on their website to download the MindBody app. Could not find the spa on the app, so I went back to the website and tried the desktop version. I had to enter credit card information before I could even see available appointments, which strikes me as super shady. I finally get to the available appointments, see several for the day and time I wanted, but each one I click on says I need to call instead. So I call, about 10:30 a.m., no answer, so I leave a detailed message and ask for a call back, giving my phone number twice. Over an hour later I decide to call again because I was waiting to hear back from them before going to the beach, where I get kind of spotty reception. They answer on the second ring, I ask for an appointment for the day and time I had seen available on their website, and they say no, sorry, they're all booked up. Okay, great. What a frustrating waste of time that was! Get it together, Aqua Spa. It's the 21st century, online booking shouldn't be an issue for a reputable business. read more

This oversight paled by the ghastly conversation the nail technicians were having. These gals offered up such local tidbits as: 1. the funeral home nearby was dumping waste into the bay were looking at 2. you can get "jungle rot" by going in that water hhhmmmmm.......are my feet soaking in that water?? A few weeks ago we were vacationing in NC and driving to Duck. I don't know if it was the long drive or what but my lower back was screaming in pain. My wife called Aqua Spa while we were driving and made an appointment for the next day. My lower back was so bad I had hard time sitting and standing. My therapist Allison Schwartz was great!!! She did a great job of relieving most of my pain. It was very tight!!! I would for sure to go back again when in the area. read more

I wanted to go with my mother to get a pedicure done. After she booked it and we got there I told the woman I had gel on my toes and she didn't believe me because she said gel doesn't belong on toes, then made a huge deal about how long it would take to get them done. She ended up cutting my toes while taking it off which sucked because it hurt to go in the water during the rest of my vacation. The price is crazy high for how basic this pedicure was and how short the nail polish lasted. After taking off the gel, she used an scrubber on my feet and then put that polish on. That's all for $50. Coming from California, I was expecting a lot more for that price. I got them done on Thursday and they're already wearing off now that it's Sunday. My experience here other than the facial was not "salon like" w me just feeling like the receptionist had way to much on her plate to make me feel welcomed. She was even seen bringing up a drink From the restaurant downstairs. Not her fault but way too Much stuff going on. And then the added gratuity. I'm pretty sure this is illegal. And the girl ringing me up did say multiple times I can change it but it was so awkward. The only time I know legally you are allowed to add gratuity is on large parties. We were told we couldn't get pedicures when we called because it was booked up but when we got there, the nail techs kept coming in saying they were bored and asking if we wanted one. Then to add to this not so pleasant experience, I left my purse on the sink by a mistake and when I returned $180 was missing from it. There was not a single other customer who was allowed into the spa changing area besides my close friends. The receptionist was rude, wouldn't help us try and find out what happened and lied saying she was the manager. I called later and discovered she wasn't. Great view and very pleasant manicurist. I had trouble making An appointment online and I'm A computer person. Not sure what was up there. 2 complaints: 1 they recommend a 20% tip and pre add it to the bill. I would typically give that much but it just kind of annoyed me that they planned on that amount I guess a lot of people on Vaca don't. 2nd. They cut the foam rubber toe separators in half. I wantched one manicurist cutting a whole box of them in half and taking them out of the packaging and I wondered why they did that. Well they only use half of a 5 toe foam separator per foot and ofcourse because of this I have a big smear on one of my toes. I mean seriously what do those foam separators cost a quarter? Four of us ladies went to aqua for pedicures, two at a time as they can only do three at a time. They forgot champagne for the first two, but that allowed the four of us to hang out and drink it at the same time. I would return and see Larisa and her cohort for pedicures anytime. They were very friendly, while not being too chatty and our nails looked great! At the end, they gave us our emery boards, cuticle pusher, and buffing block as they do not reuse them. The reason for three stars is that I also had an eyebrow/lip wax and I would not go back for that. The service was fine but there was no clean up plucking or trimming of longer hairs. Admittedly, I was hungover, but that's no reason to leave stray hairs on my mustache. At the check-out counter, I found it handy that they have already included a 20% gratuity - you can change if you prefer, I enjoyed no math on vacation. They also had a selection of Jane Iredale BB Cream in all shades, so I tried one out for the rest of the day but felt no pressure to purchase which is always nice. read more

Last weekend I was vacationing in Duck , North Carolina. I felt like treating myself to a spa service . The Aqua spa had an opening, that fit into my day. I requested the Swedish message and it was wonderful. The atmosphere in the spa was incredibly relaxing. The décor in the locker- shower area was so nice and so very clean !! I always love that. After I changed I was escorted to the relaxation room. were I waited for my message. The view was amazing!! Definitely way overpriced for the service. The view is nice and so is the staff, however, the skill level and quality of service is lacking. I get my nails done regularly at all kinda of salons and have never reviewed one poorly. As a matter of fact I have never left a review for a nail salon period. My sister and I were here for a bridal party appointment, her and I were both disappointed. We even had to tell the technician to add a second coat on the bride's toe because it was streaky. The girl doing my nails even told me to "just moisturize" my cuticles because she didn't trim them or push them back. For over $50 I expect that to be a given. Not great. read more

The bottom line: All of our services got 4-5 stars for technical skill (my mani/pedi looks great and my husband's massage was very relaxing). HOWEVER, the staff was very unprofessional, more what you'd expect at the neighborhood nail shop rather than a high-end salon. I spent 2 hours getting a $125 mani/pedi from Rose. She spent the whole time giving the other nail tech, Marissa, directions on exactly what kind of salsa to buy at the BP and how to refill the Barbacide and put new tools out. Mondays are obviously their slow days because we were able to find a 15% off coupon and I was the only person in the nail salon. Maybe if there were other customers around the staff would have been more professional, but I doubt it. A mandatory 20% gratuity is included in your bill, and I suspect that because the staff know they're getting tipped no matter what that they don't try very hard to give good customer service. My husband's experience with the massage therapists was completely different. Stacy was vey professional and gave him a great deep tissue massage with reflexology add-on. Overall impression is that the massage/aromatherapy part of the spa is worth the money, but if you want your nails done you're better off somewhere else. read more

Rip-off!! We were given a gift certificate from our children for couple's massages to enjoy during our honeymoon. We tried scheduling the appointments and were told there were no couple's massages, so we ended up having Maritime massages, which were much shorter and more expensive massages versus what our children had paid for. Afterwards, we were asked to pay a 20% gratuity for each therapist. After explaining the situation to our children, we were informed the 20% gratuity had already been paid. We ended up paying for shorter, more expensive massages and 40% gratuities!! Request for refund of the 2nd gratuities was refused. We will not recommend!! read more
