The facilities are very dirty. The man at the front was screaming on his phone the entire time he was doing someone's manicure...that poor woman just got up and left eventually. Not to mention, he had his phone on speaker so the person on the other side of the phone was also screaming and we all could hear it. Over all service was good, I brought my girlfriend to have a bonding spa day. My girlfriend got serviced first but the male technician who was working on her pedicure skipped a few steps and I only noticed after I had gotten my pedicure and realized what he didn't do for my girlfriend. We saw there was both gel polish and acrylic on the skin of every toe. The person giving me a "mani pedi" was phenomenal but for my girlfriend I personally feel as though it was a "getting it over with" type of job :(. but the owner was so sweet and friendly! read more

Love, love LOVED Unique Nails and Spa!!! Went for an eyebrow+ upper lip wax and it was perfect!!! Next a pedicure which after seeing the gel color with "unicorn dust" on the girl next to me had me instantly sold! Not only was the pedicure super AMAZING, the color was so gorgeous it had the look of an iridescent pearl, which I've never seen before! I love anything pearl, especially these nails!!! My immediate family (which are extremely critical of nails) , etc, LOVED the color and they all gave it 5 stars! I'm sorry I don't know the names of the 2 ladies who did my eyebrows and toes, but they were soooo good!! Highly recommend this place! Very kind and outgoing staff although the manicures and pedicures my group got were rushed and not consistent despite paying for the same service. $25 up charge for gel and he didn't even do enough layers, when I hold up my hand to to the light (dark purple mind you) and you can see right through. Nails weren't evenly filed either. Piping hot water for soaking my nails and cold water in pedicure tub. The furniture, pedicure spas and other equipment were very worn and grungy looking. They definitely need to upgrade their nail polishes too. Dead flies everywhere, visible rat trap behind one of the pedicure chairs. read more

After having a satisfactory pedicure with the owner's recommendation to use his uncle on June 12, 2024, I went back on July 8 before a 2 week corporate job where I would be on my feet a great deal. Instead of taking his time as before, he was rough, aggressive and acting like there was a fire to put out. He did not have any customers waiting so there was no need to rush the pedicure, cause me pain and make mistakes. My toes were sore from the roughness and finally by July 13, I realized something was very wrong and went to the Urgent Care where a major infection was diagnosed and I was put on an antibiotic. He had cut the skin inside the top corner of my right toe, and nicked my third toe over. He also cut the skin on the top of my toe when he roughly filed the top of the nail. For 2 weeks I worked in pain, and the pain did not get better, so subsequently I had to go to the doctor 2 more times. When I finally had time to call the owner, his wife answered the phone and I explained to her what happened and that I wanted a refund of the $36 I paid. She proceeded to berate me for not letting her know before I left the appointment (I wasn't going back and I didn't want to cause a scene) and then she rudely berated me for not calling sooner (I did not know I had an infection until later and I was on a very tiring job with no time to call her sooner). I assured her I had documentation from my doctor's visits and that all I wanted was my $36 back. The conversation ended in a shouting match, since I was not being treated with the respect I certainly deserve nor with any show of courtesy or understanding not to mention ever saying she was sorry it happened. All she cared about was to yell at me for not letting them know sooner and try and put the blame on me so she didn't have to shell out $36. There are many other great salons on the Outer Banks and I highly recommend staying away from Unique Nails. read more

Made an appointment, they kept to the times even though we were last for the evening - super friendly and informative about how I was getting my gel powder dip done at home. This business claims to be open until 7:00 pm but when I went in at 5:15 neither of the two technicians working was willing to take me. They wanted to close early . They offer you water, wine, and other beverages as you're getting your services done. I shied away from designs in the past and had to choose plain colors because nobody could ever get the designs right that I chose; But if you want a design that will turn out better than you imagine, book your appointment with Micah:) She's great! I am not sure what was wrong with this place, but my friend and I had an appointment and only 1 of us got our toes done. My friend was really irritated. I don't blame her. She made the appointment and She didn't even get toes done. The people working there didn't even cared. The lady who did my toes cut my cuticle 3 separate times and had to put some alcohol pads on them to stop the bleeding. The polish job was not even that great. I will never go back to this business. Just moved to OBX and decided to try this salon. I've been there twice now and I've made appointments both times for pedicures. I've never been actually read it when I walked in but have to stay in there for several minutes until someone acknowledged me and not very friendly at all. Was not offered anything to drink or anything like that and the tech was so rough and dug her thumbs into my leg muscles so hard it was so painful when I get a pedicure I want my feet massaged not my legs tortured. She also cut the top of my toe with the emery board and then when she sprayed alcohol on it later burned the crap out of me. It just wasn't a pleasant experience and for what I paid for the deluxe pedicure didn't see many more worth the extra money than the normal pedicure. It's too bad because I would be coming once a month at least and I don't think I'll go back. read more

I was looking foward to a nice relaxing morning starting with a nice pedicure. Well, that didn't happen. First the couldn't find my color, then when they filled the basin to soak your feet, there was a hole in the liner. The lady manager was making such a commotion over this with the young lady doing my pedicure. Then she wanted me to put my feet in the basin WITH NO LINER! I told her I wanted a liner and was fearful of getting a fungus. Then more noisy talk. Not a good experience, and will never go again read more

I understand places are understaffed and I would normally be fine with having 3 different people do different parts of my service. But "Mr. T" was coughing very strongly and not wearing a mask. He came over to help out with me and I very politely asked him to wear a mask. (I was wearing one. Apparently I am one of the few people in America who has not gotten COVID yet and I'd like to keep it that way.) He got upset and said it's just allergies and he can't breathe when he wears a mask, so he told his wife to "finish up with her" and he switched with her and did another client. Not exactly rude but also not really polite. Then I watched him go outside to his truck and smoke a cigarette. Obviously not my business but I found the whole trouble breathing thing ironic. Anyway, Mica, his wife, was very nice, gave me good advice about my nails and did a professional job. So she gets a 5, he gets a 2. And the older lady who did my toes gets a 4 only because I was having difficulty understanding her at times. read more
