Highly recommend Beach Braids! Did an awesome job on the henna tattoos and the braids as well. Definitely have time set aside because depending on what you get- the time varies. Staff is awesome, super welcoming and nice.

Today I went to Beach Braids and I had a very good experience I got a henna tattoo and my sister got A beach braid the people were very nice they told us everything we needed to do when we got home since we both got tattoos they told us everything I really recommend going to this place all the people are very nice

So we stopped at the beach braids in Duck and the people were really rude and the wait time was ridiculous so we left. Driving back to the house my brother pointed out that there was another store in Nags Head so we swung by. No wait time. The woman doing my hair was amazing and nice and it didn't hurt at all. I will say that it is a little pricey but it's a vacation area, I get it. I paid $5 per cornrow but I only got 4.

    Fancy hair wrap.

This is an amazing place. Located right down the road from Jeanette's pier. The owner and workers are super cool and awesome to speak to. I highly recommend this place over life on a sandbar. They know what they're doing when it comes to hair wraps, henna, and braids. My wrap is beautiful. Please come here for service. You will not be disappointed.

Our hair held up so nicely throughout the entire beach wedding and the reception. Julie was so kind, professional, and welcoming. She listened and took time to create the look that we each wanted. She put us at ease and alleviated much of our stress. I highly recommend Julie at Wavelengths!

Great experience! My stylist was actually the owner, Julie. She was personable, considerate,…read morethorough, and had great attention to detail! When I got there, her mom (she works in the business end of things) offered me water and/or wine! Never had that before at a salon and was a nice touch. Julie was very thorough in completing my perm. Even when she missed two hairs (exactly two; I'm not exaggerating) by my face, she redid the roller! She was super considerate of me when I told her that my neck tends to be pretty strained when I'm in the sink. She changed little things that went a long way, like applying the neutralizer with me sitting up instead of in the sink like she normally would, so I didn't have to be there longer than necessary. She was also quite patient! When the perm was setting, she started to grab a quick bite of lunch in the back and was not upset in the slightest when I came over to say that one of the rollers had popped apart; she just came on out and fixed it happily! I would have been disappointed like "man I just sat down!" I got a bit of a cut after the perm also, and she did great with that. She sent me away with a written note for my next stylist about what she did today, because I'd struggled in the beginning to communicate which rollers I'd had in the past/how curly I'd gone before, things like that. So she not only did a great job on this today but also made it easier for me for future visits to stylists. In many ways she just went the extra mile. Additionally, it felt like a community experience because the hairdresser beside her chatted with me as well as her client. It was a relaxed and peaceful atmosphere for sure! Overall I'm quite satisfied. If I'm ever dying to change my hair again while I'm visiting the OBX, I know where I will go! She told me they do weddings too, by the way!

I told her I would pay for what Little work she did and asked her how much she said $50 for long hair.. that's a joke she didn't even finish the haircut nor is a haircut that takes 10 minutes worth $50.

I have never written a Yelp review but am writing this as a public service announcement. Kerry L…read more is absolutely correct. I read her review before my visit and figured well, it couldn't be that bad. Turns out, it is. I asked for long layers & took off my glasses for the cut. Linda began that she had no time to blow dry or style for my scheduled appointment. When I got there, my hair was down to the middle of my back as it has been all my life. She cut my hair for 15 minutes tops. During the cut with my blurry vision, I asked are you cutting like 6 inches?! Linda said I don't do measurements, I'm just cutting off the damaged hair. I said AGAIN I just want long layers. When Linda was done, I put my glasses back on and my hair was shoulder length wet. I was shocked. I said I can't believe how short you cut my hair. Also when it dries, it it will be even shorter. I said it's too short to even put it in a ponytail. Linda's response was I can show you how and that she's been doing this for 47 years. Maybe it's time to call it a day. Linda charged me $75 which included a diatribe of how awful my hair is for using at home hair products clearly pining for an up-sell of her products. By the way, I don't blow dry, curl or flat iron my hair, use Matrix shampoo & conditioner and color my roots at home. My hair was far from beyond repair requiring a full hacking. Like I said over and over again, I came in to get a long layered hairdo. Now I have a short friar boy's hair don't. BEWARE UPDATE: Linda left me a voicemail saying she "did the best i could with what I had." Offered me $15 back. That's not the point. I don't even want $75 back. Keep it. This is not a post for a price break. It literally is a PSA.
