I walked in and a lady there asked what i'd like to have done and i said a gel manicure. She said okay and sent me to a guy working there and he started on my nails. He went and got my color that i picked. I didn't know there was a difference between builder gel and gel polish so I didn't say I had builder gel on. Well the guy couldn't do my nails for that reason and he sent me over to the woman that greeted me. I said "im sorry I guess i should have said it was builder gel not regular gel." And she responds with "Yeah!" In a sassy tone. Totally unnecessary. I definitely sensed her hostility towards me. And magically the color I picked had magically "run out" despite the fact that I literally saw the dude who started on my nails bring the color I wanted over. She was really rough while doing my manicure and made my cuticles bleed on 3 of my fingers. I wish I had just got up and left. My nails look ok. Except for the fact that she filed the skin around my nails raw. I also asked for round and she made them mostly all pointy and charged me an extra $5 just to shape them differently than how I came in. Ridiculous. Probably wont be back. 10/10 highly recommended. Got a full set with glow in the dark polish, gel pedicure, and waxed my eyebrows. First time for the waxing and it was easy and smooth. We were laughing and relaxing the whole time. Overall great experience!! read more

I had a regular manicure , not gel. Although I realize they do not last very long, I had tips meased up as I left the parking lot. I returned and the gentleman tried to just repaint the ends that were already overloaded with polish. By getting home they were messed up. I have been there before but was trying to give them another chance. Although polite, this gentleman just does not do an acceptable job. I do not recommend. read more

This place is beautiful! It is spacious and welcoming! The gentleman that did my pedicure was fantastic! I had a really, really long and deep ingrown toenail on my big toe, my guy didn't want to hurt me, so he called in backup. My girl came over and removed both sides and OMG! Life is good! When y'all come on vacation, COME TO THIS NAIL SPA! They will take care of you! I also got my eyebrows done, they are perfect! See ya next time! read more

Last minute decision to get my nails done on a Friday afternoon. MK Nails was great with squeezing me in without an appointment. I did call ahead to make sure I could get in without much notice. Love the location in Nags Head, NC, Outer Banks. Not too far from my house. Great family atmosphere. Everyone was very friendly. I noticed many locals were coming in and the staff knew them by name. I had a gel manicure, and I could not be happier with my nails. I will recommend MK Nails to all of my out of town guests and any of my local friends looking for a nice clean place to have a relaxing nail appointment. read more

Stopped by this salon and was really busy. Made an appointment for 6pm. Arrived at 6 and they were ready to help us. 3 months of quarantine, needed this pretty bad. They had shields and masks during our visit and are very friendly. My mani & pedi were such a welcoming event. They did a great job. They do acrylics and gel too. I will go back when I'm here in Obx. I would recommend an appointment. read more

I love this nail salon! I'm in town for the week and popped in for a gel mani. I also just had my toes painted. They were very nice and quick! They have a huge selection of colors and the place is very clean. They take your temperature and have plexiglass up everywhere so clearly they're taking COVID-19 precautions seriously. Their prices are reasonable and did a fantastic job! My nails look great!! Currently they are closed on Sundays. read more

The reviews on this page are not accurate don't fall for it! They made us wait forever and this old lady was yelling at everyone mad about something. This website picture is what I showed her and that's what she gave me... they were all uneven and I said coffin and that's coffin or her attempt at it I guess and she charged 100$ my bf just got a manicure and they still messed that up how do you mess up clear polish read more

Very good pedicure and foot massage. Family owned business that made sure each customer was taken care of.

Had an amazing pedicure done by Hoi. Got the signature pedicure and the massage was amazing. Everything was sterile and COVID restrictions were followed well. They also did a fabulous job on my eyebrows. Will definitely be back whenever I'm in town read more

I came in for a regular manicure while on vacation at the OBX recently. They weren't busy, and that was likely due to the holidays. I was taken care of right away, and she did a very nice job on my nails. It also wasn't very expensive, at least not by what I'm used to paying elsewhere. They do not have a very extensive nail color selection, so you may wish to even consider bringing your own. At the time I thought it seemed like the smallest color collection I could remember seeing in a nail salon. They do nails for ladies and gentlemen, and I even saw a kid's pedicure chair. They also do gel manicures, if interested. read more

Probably the worst mani + pedi I have ever had. My nails are all different lengths and shapes. I was never even asked how much I wanted cut down or even what shape I wanted. The older gentleman doing my nails filed them AFTER the gel polish ruining the seal on the edge. My toenails look like a child painted them because the top glitter coat somehow got covered by the bottom coat. It was so bad and 3 hours they still wouldn't dry so I hd to go somewhere else to have them redone after spending $101 dollars here. The only good part was the leg and foot massage. read more

Best nail salon on the beach! Extremely professional and very skilled. We had three ladies for mani pedis called ahead for an appt and had no problem getting in, always good to make an appt as they had a 17 person party behind us. We will always come back here when we visit! Thank you for the amazing experience! Update! One month later and my nails are still looking great! Highly recommended!! read more

Wish I could give zero stars. I had a manicure with gel polish. It is absolutely the worst manicure I have ever received. The absolute worst! I have been getting my nails done at the same place for over 20 years. I have recently moved to the Outer Banks and have been looking for a new place. This is the third place I have tried. I asked for an American manicure and the man doing my manicure had no idea what that was. He actually hurt me two times while taking off my previous gel polish. I actually had to jerk my hand slightly away one time. That is a first for me. I wish I could have just left and in hindsight I should have. He finished my manicure. The nails were uneven and when I pointed one out, his solution was to cut it much shorter. It lasted about a week. So disappointing. I continue my search for a local nail salon. I will never go back to MK nails and will never recommend it to anyone. read more

Not the usual group working on my last visit just wasn't the same expirience we are used to.

Went to get manicure and the guy who did my manicure did a crappy job! I'm not from the area and thought this place is good base on the review but naahhh??! Attached some pictures of my newly manicured nails that even a 2nd grader can probably do a better job! Updated Review: The owner message me right after I posted my review and I am very pleased that he/she care enough to make sure their customers are happy and satisfied. He asked me if I can come back so they can fix my nails and I did. Mindy took care of me and I am very happy of Mindy's job! She even gave me a gel manicure with no extra charge! I will definitely go back next year to see Mindy! read more

Nice people, but I asked for a design, and people were immediately visibly shocked at the idea of doing something remotely intricate. They did their best but it took three people looking at my nails and a picture to get a mediocre version of what I asked for. Less than a day later my nails are chipping off. Not worth the up charge for a design if the design can't last twenty four hours, doing the dishes, taking a shower or anything else life throws at them. If you're also not originally from OBX, stick with one color or something else pain, the quality won't be what you're used to. read more

Stopped by here for a much needed pedi when vacationing from Ohio. Literally one of the best pedicures I have ever experienced. I went off of recommendations from Yelp but I had such a weird experience here at this salon. I did come in without an appointment and they told me they could only accommodate my pedicure, not the gel manicure I also wanted. The guy doing my pedicure was decent with the massage but never once touched my FEET during the massage..weird, right! Another tech said she could do my get manicure while I had my pedicure (I had nothing on my nails) and it was the quickest gel polish I have had my life..I hope it lasts a few days!! I completely understand they were short staffed but IMO it's not best to rush when you have sharp tools read more

I called ahead for my appointment. I arrived on time but still waited for 20 min before anyone got to me. I was scheduled for a gel mani and gel pedi. I had 1 man doing my nails in the pedicure chair while another man was doing my pedicure. It was the most rushed mani/ pedi experience I have ever had. The guy doing my nails got the gel all on my cuticles, and when I pointed it out he got upset. He then began trimming my skin around my nail.. until it was sore and I asked him to stop. The pedicure was average at best. And to top it off, it's quite a bit more expensive than what I pay in Raleigh! I went to MK nails based on great reviews, however my experience was less than average. I will not be going back. read more

I am a visitor to the Outer Banks, not a usual customer. I didn't have time to get a manicure/pedicure at home as I usually do, before I left. I wasn't familiar with their shop or with their polishes, but they did have the brands I use. I gave them the names and numbers of the polishes I wanted, but they had no interest or patience with my plight or with helping me find a comparable alternative. I ended up not getting any color because after trying to choose colors from the color wheels they finally provided and then being told those weren't available, I gave up. The man who gave me my pedicure & manicure was adequate but lacked any customer service skill. If they had shown the least bit of compassion, I would not have written this review, but I felt others should know what to expect. If I ever need this service when I am visiting again, I will go elsewhere. read more

I came here while visiting the outer banks for the weekend to get a manicure. The employee who did my nails was rushing, extremely rough, and ended up scraping skin off on almost all my fingers. One of them bled out on the table while doing my nails and there was nothing done to sanitize the area but simply wiping the the blood up. Personally, with my experience, I will never be back and felt the need to share. I will also add that there was nothing done but a "sorry" afterwards. read more

Very nice experience while traveling. Technician was very competent, salon quite clean

Beautiful nail designs at a fair price. Manicure and pedicure done professionally just wish that more people spoke English.

Walk-ins aren't really welcome if you close two hours early and kick me out as soon as I walk in.

We found Mk nails while visiting. They were awesome. Friendly and clean salon!!! Loved our nails when finished. Highly recommend this salon. read more

Unfortunately, I did not have a good experience here. The technician wasn't very welcoming at first and then began to engage in some conversation with me which was a nice change. However as she began to do my nails I could tell I was going to be in for it. She was very rough and when she got to the dremel tool for under my nails, she jammed it as far as she could under each nail causing me excruciating pain (no, I'm not exaggerating). One of my fingers was left bleeding underneath as well. I left in so much pain and went home with micro cuts all underneath every single nail. I also noticed because she rushed so much she didn't paint down the side of my nails for the French I got which made them look unfinished. I will not be returning because the pain was so unbearable. Oh and when she told me to wash my hands, I came back only to see that she had thrown all of my belongings on the next chair and had already put another customer in my seat which made me feel rushed and unappreciated. The owner seemed nice however so maybe ask for him if you risk going here. read more

Dr. Feel Good (aka Benjamin) did my acrylic mani with gel polish on Day 1 of my vacay. He was full of good conversation and detailed work while he fixed the mess I brought in. I told him I'd post a review after I saw how the mani held up at 3 weeks, but I couldn't wait after I checked it out this morning as we drove away from OBX with a gorgeous full set still thriving. The only thing I really can't stand is that I'm not closer for a fill in. Side-note: the women getting a pedi at the same time raved about the work they had done by another nail tech! The picture I posted is from Day 7. read more

Take your business here! All other nail places had lukewarm reviews so I went here. The nail techs are so nice and patient-even with my indecision about what services I wanted. Immediately was offered wine or soda (which I declined, but they pour very generously!) Requested a basic pedicure and had an over 45 minute session with a lot of much needed attention to my feet. My toes turned out perfect and he took time to touch them up and make sure there was no errant polish. Prices are very reasonable in my opinion. Definitely recommend! read more
