I had a regular manicure , not gel. Although I realize they do not last very long, I had tips meased up as I left the parking lot. I returned and the gentleman tried to just repaint the ends that were already overloaded with polish. By getting home they were messed up. I have been there before but was trying to give them another chance. Although polite, this gentleman just does not do an acceptable job. I do not recommend. read more

I had a really, really long and deep ingrown toenail on my big toe, my guy didn't want to hurt me, so he called in backup. My girl came over and removed both sides and OMG! Life is good! Last minute decision to get my nails done on a Friday afternoon. MK Nails was great with squeezing me in without an appointment. I did call ahead to make sure I could get in without much notice. Love the location in Nags Head, NC, Outer Banks. Not too far from my house. Great family atmosphere. Everyone was very friendly. I noticed many locals were coming in and the staff knew them by name. I had a gel manicure, and I could not be happier with my nails. I will recommend MK Nails to all of my out of town guests and any of my local friends looking for a nice clean place to have a relaxing nail appointment. read more

Stopped by this salon and was really busy. Made an appointment for 6pm. Arrived at 6 and they were ready to help us. 3 months of quarantine, needed this pretty bad. They had shields and masks during our visit and are very friendly. My mani & pedi were such a welcoming event. They did a great job. They do acrylics and gel too. I will go back when I'm here in Obx. Wish I could give zero stars. I had a manicure with gel polish. It is absolutely the worst manicure I have ever received. The absolute worst! I have been getting my nails done at the same place for over 20 years. I have recently moved to the Outer Banks and have been looking for a new place. This is the third place I have tried. I asked for an American manicure and the man doing my manicure had no idea what that was. He actually hurt me two times while taking off my previous gel polish. I actually had to jerk my hand slightly away one time. That is a first for me. I wish I could have just left and in hindsight I should have. He finished my manicure. The nails were uneven and when I pointed one out, his solution was to cut it much shorter. It lasted about a week. So disappointing. I continue my search for a local nail salon. I will never go back to MK nails and will never recommend it to anyone. read more

I love this nail salon! I'm in town for the week and popped in for a gel mani. I also just had my toes painted. They were very nice and quick! They have a huge selection of colors and the place is very clean. They take your temperature and have plexiglass up everywhere so clearly they're taking COVID-19 precautions seriously. I came in for a regular manicure while on vacation at the OBX recently. They weren't busy, and that was likely due to the holidays. I was taken care of right away, and she did a very nice job on my nails. It also wasn't very expensive, at least not by what I'm used to paying elsewhere. They do not have a very extensive nail color selection, so you may wish to even consider bringing your own. At the time I thought it seemed like the smallest color collection I could remember seeing in a nail salon. They do nails for ladies and gentlemen, and I even saw a kid's pedicure chair. Probably the worst mani + pedi I have ever had. My nails are all different lengths and shapes. I was never even asked how much I wanted cut down or even what shape I wanted. The older gentleman doing my nails filed them AFTER the gel polish ruining the seal on the edge. My toenails look like a child painted them because the top glitter coat somehow got covered by the bottom coat. It was so bad and 3 hours they still wouldn't dry so I hd to go somewhere else to have them redone after spending $101 dollars here. The only good part was the leg and foot massage. read more

Nice people, but I asked for a design, and people were immediately visibly shocked at the idea of doing something remotely intricate. They did their best but it took three people looking at my nails and a picture to get a mediocre version of what I asked for. Less than a day later my nails are chipping off. Not worth the up charge for a design if the design can't last twenty four hours, doing the dishes, taking a shower or anything else life throws at them. If you're also not originally from OBX, stick with one color or something else pain, the quality won't be what you're used to. read more

Stopped by here for a much needed pedi when vacationing from Ohio. Literally one of the best pedicures I have ever experienced. I went off of recommendations from Yelp but I had such a weird experience here at this salon. I did come in without an appointment and they told me they could only accommodate my pedicure, not the gel manicure I also wanted. The guy doing my pedicure was decent with the massage but never once touched my FEET during the massage..weird, right! Another tech said she could do my get manicure while I had my pedicure (I had nothing on my nails) and it was the quickest gel polish I have had my life..I hope it lasts a few days!! I called ahead for my appointment. I arrived on time but still waited for 20 min before anyone got to me. I was scheduled for a gel mani and gel pedi. I had 1 man doing my nails in the pedicure chair while another man was doing my pedicure. It was the most rushed mani/ pedi experience I have ever had. The guy doing my nails got the gel all on my cuticles, and when I pointed it out he got upset. He then began trimming my skin around my nail.. until it was sore and I asked him to stop. The pedicure was average at best. And to top it off, it's quite a bit more expensive than what I pay in Raleigh! I went to MK nails based on great reviews, however my experience was less than average. I will not be going back. read more

Unfortunately, I did not have a good experience here. The technician wasn't very welcoming at first and then began to engage in some conversation with me which was a nice change. However as she began to do my nails I could tell I was going to be in for it. She was very rough and when she got to the dremel tool for under my nails, she jammed it as far as she could under each nail causing me excruciating pain (no, I'm not exaggerating). One of my fingers was left bleeding underneath as well. I left in so much pain and went home with micro cuts all underneath every single nail. I also noticed because she rushed so much she didn't paint down the side of my nails for the French I got which made them look unfinished. I will not be returning because the pain was so unbearable. Oh and when she told me to wash my hands, I came back only to see that she had thrown all of my belongings on the next chair and had already put another customer in my seat which made me feel rushed and unappreciated. I came here while visiting the outer banks for the weekend to get a manicure. The employee who did my nails was rushing, extremely rough, and ended up scraping skin off on almost all my fingers. One of them bled out on the table while doing my nails and there was nothing done to sanitize the area but simply wiping the the blood up. I am a visitor to the Outer Banks, not a usual customer. I didn't have time to get a manicure/pedicure at home as I usually do, before I left. I wasn't familiar with their shop or with their polishes, but they did have the brands I use. I gave them the names and numbers of the polishes I wanted, but they had no interest or patience with my plight or with helping me find a comparable alternative. I ended up not getting any color because after trying to choose colors from the color wheels they finally provided and then being told those weren't available, I gave up. The man who gave me my pedicure & manicure was adequate but lacked any customer service skill. If they had shown the least bit of compassion, I would not have written this review, but I felt others should know what to expect. If I ever need this service when I am visiting again, I will go elsewhere. read more

Dr. Feel Good (aka Benjamin) did my acrylic mani with gel polish on Day 1 of my vacay. He was full of good conversation and detailed work while he fixed the mess I brought in. I told him I'd post a review after I saw how the mani held up at 3 weeks, but I couldn't wait after I checked it out this morning as we drove away from OBX with a gorgeous full set still thriving. The only thing I really can't stand is that I'm not closer for a fill in. Side-note: the women getting a pedi at the same time raved about the work they had done by another nail tech! Take your business here! All other nail places had lukewarm reviews so I went here. The nail techs are so nice and patient-even with my indecision about what services I wanted. Immediately was offered wine or soda (which I declined, but they pour very generously!) Requested a basic pedicure and had an over 45 minute session with a lot of much needed attention to my feet. My toes turned out perfect and he took time to touch them up and make sure there was no errant polish. Prices are very reasonable in my opinion. Definitely recommend! read more

A group of us went in on the weekend for mani pedis and everyone seemed very nice. This was the fastest pedicure we have ever had. We felt like they were rushing. My sister in laws manicure was done at her pedicure chair which was odd. She was not happy with her manicure. My sister had her feet soaking and then they told her to set her feet on the ledge and forgot about her. The lady came over and apologized that she was forgotten and had her soak her feet again. The manicures didn't look good at all, the cuticles were not cleaned up well at all by two different people. We will not be going back to this salon again. read more
