My husband and I went in for a massage while on vacation in the Outer Banks. We decided to splurge and do the the 80 minute sessions. The decor was fresh and the very clean. We found the spa very relaxing, even as we were waiting for our masseuses. I had Heidi for an Aqua Aromatherapy Massage. She did a fabulous job on the knots in my shoulders, and quickly picked up on the level of conversation that I was comfortable with. My husband had Rebecca with a deep tissue massage; she did a great job, too. He suffers from sciatica and she managed to alleviate the pain. I would highly recommend this business. read more

Had a great mani/pedi today by Larisa. The spa is quiet and relaxing without being stuffy. The view out the windows from the pedicure chairs reminded me of being on a cruise - looking out over the water. I loved that it didn't smell like a nail salon as they use only organic, fume-free products. I will certainly return on my next trip to the OBX. Then I recommend lunch at the restaurant downstairs - it was very nice. read more

I went with a friend to get eyebrow/lip wax. We made the appointment online the night before. It was 1am but we made 2 simultaneous appointments for noon. That was so convenient! When we got there, the women at the front desk were very friendly. They took us into a relaxation room to wait. It had beautiful views of the sound as well as tea and trail mix! It was funny that we had to fill out forms about our medical history...for a waxing. But that was ok. The woman who worked on me was amazing. She took her time and was very thorough. I would love to go to Aqua again! read more

My sister in law and I both went for a massage. We were both very impressed. The spa was clean, calming and had beautiful views. We were both very happy with our massages. Heidi and Monica were excellent. I told Heidi about my problem spots and she focused on those areas and did a great job. I've always told my masseuse about my neck and shoulders and this is the first time I felt that was actually addressed well. Monica was also very attentive to my sister in law. I didn't feel rush and was happy with the facilities. I did think it was pricey but this is a tourist destination and I've seen more expensive places that didn't leave me as satisfied. We also had a very good facials, and the place has really nice amenities, great products, and a nice little restaurant downstairs. Definitely worth the trip! read more

We visit Duck every year for vacation. One stop I will never miss is a 50 or 80 minute Swedish Massage with Tony Francis at Aqua. He has the perfect touch. I'm relaxed and rejuvenated in no time! The spa is quiet, luxurious & very welcoming. Most of the treatment rooms have beautiful views of the Sound. I could sit in the lounge and drink tea all day. read more

If it was possible I would've given zero stars. The majority of the employees were bitchy and did not seem to care at all about what us as customers wanted. They were so unorganized and it made the experience so much worse. We had come to the spa to relax and have a nice time at the beach but really it just aggravated me and put me in a worse mood. Overall not a quality spa experience and horrible customer service. If you are considering coming here DON'T. I would recommend the Sanderling Spa instead. Much better experience. read more

most likely wont return. i got a 60 minute swedish massage & it was not worth the money. i had stacy..wasnt really a massage- more like 60 minutes of rubbing. i went with other people & they had a way different experience than me. they got their face & head massaged & bragged about how good it felt & i did not get that. they got their feet massaged twice throughout their massage & i only got it once. not only do i still feel tense & have knots; now im in a bad mood. read more

The atmosphere was not very relaxing with a brusque and informal approach from the front desk and masseuses. I ordered a deep-tissue massage that was not very strong and was rushed through. My masseuse, Tina, rushed through my knots, not fully working them out, and applied techniques that, from my many massage experiences, did not accurately massage the muscles. For someone who ordered a deep tissue massage on a relaxing vacation, I was disappointed in my experience. My sister who went with me got a facial and had a much better session that lived up to its expectation. Would not recommend to fall into this tourist trap. read more

I came here 2 summers ago for a massage with KT and it was FABULOUS, so relaxing and exceptionally professional. I got the 80 minute massage for 135.00 which is a little pricey but worth every penny. The spa is Gorgeous; very open, airy and clean. They have an amazing bathroom with lockers where you change into a soft plush robe before your service. Then you wait for your service provider in a room with big soft seats, magazines, cookies, tea, water etc. that looks out on the bay. It's an amazing view, so relaxing and serene. The way a spa should be. The spa is over a restaurant, but they have excellent soundproofing. The only thing I would have changed about my massage was to have an aromatherapy choice. I believe KT used a Basil scented aroma and I would have liked something more floral. The front desk staff were very friendly and professional as well. When I come back to the Outer Banks and want a massage I know where I'll be going! read more

I would love to give this spa better reviews but I literally had the worst massage of my life and it was the one of the most expensive ones I've had. The therapist I had was noticeably sick and as soon and she started & I could hear her breathing through her mouth because she was so congested I wish I would have stopped there. You get very close with massages and I ended up with her cold. The massage was not relaxing at all, didn't seem to flow and I was waiting for it to be over- which ended before my time was up anyway. Towards the end the massage therapist grabbed my ankle for a quadriceps stretch and must have caught my meniscus since she caught me off guard and I am still limping around. The massage left me in pain in both my back and my knee and ruined the rest of my vacation. The spa manager was nice offered me another service for free but we were unable to work out a time before we left the area. So now I have scheduled another massage with my regular therapist at home, need to follow up with my orthopedic, and probably also a physical therapist! I think a place that is going to charge those prices should make sure they had better therapists. My friend who went with me had an excellent one so I guess I drew the short stick. We also had pedicures. They were minimal at best and the person who did it was not very friendly. The view there, however, is amazing and beautiful. read more

Save your money!! I booked 3x gel mani/pedis for my friends birthday. On their online menu, each service is 50 minutes, so each girl should have had 1hr and 40 mins for services. We arrived 5 mins late, and were immediately spoken too rudely by one of the attendants, that we wouldn't have time for gels?? I was taken aback bc 5-10 mins shouldn't be an issue for almost a 2 hr service. Plus none of us needed gel removal time. Needless to say it was a tense start to a "relaxing" time. The birthday girl was done in 40 mins FOR BOTH MANI AND PEDI. She was literally in the pedicure chair before I even had my fingernails painted. By the time I was in the chair for my pedicure both girls were done. And the nail techs had moved on to other clients. Clearly they had not scheduled the time that they had listed on their menu. No one offered us refills on the drinks I ordered when I first arrived. This was not the RELAXING, FUN, Girls afternoon I had planned. For a $110 per person mani/ pedi, you are better off going to a regular spot. I have had better service, paying for $40, with no partial water view. I had to complain, there was no manager on duty, so they had to call someone, she originally offered 10% off, I agreed to $20%. But still ended up paying over $300+ for the services that lasted less then an hour. Save your money and go elsewhere. read more

Absolutely ridiculous. Extremely expensive and it's the worst mani/pedi I've ever gotten. I could have done a better job on my own. Lady didn't know the difference between round and square nails, so now I have a mix of both. Cut my nails super short when all I asked for was a little trim; some nails are visibly a lot longer than others. Never going there again. read more

My friends and I love Aqua's restaurant and visit it every time we're in Duck. This year we decided massages would be lovely so tried the Aqua spa (we received 10% off since we had dined with them 2 nights prior!). I knew they do a great job with the restaurant so expected it to be a good experience but it far surpassed my expectations. I get massages quite regularly so my standards are fairly high. Susanna was my massage therapist and was out of this world fantastic! She started by asking if I was having any pain and if I was looking for more relaxation or therapy. I told her therapeutic with a touch of relaxation (we are at the beach, of course!) and she was amazing. She used really great, deep pressure where I needed it and of course the whole experience was relaxing. And their signature Coco-Mango massage oil - ridiculous! I had to purchase some body wash before I left because the scent is so heavenly. If you're looking for a spa outing - either alone or with friends - Aqua is your place. You will no be disappointed! read more

Not only did gift certificates get lost (that were already paid for), we were overcharged (were supposed to get a bridal party discount), the services were poorly done (worst massage ever-felt like a back rub), and they offered no remorse for all of their mistakes. Not bad, but not worth the price. I had the ritual spa mani/pedi and although the service was put together nicely and I liked the products, they were rushed to get it all done in the timeframe, so as a result the polish wasn't applied as neatly (if topcoat doesn't cover the whole nail, I know I'll have chips in a few days) and somehow if I'm paying more than $100, I'd like it to last and look nice. Also, I just hate being rushed at a spa. read more

Very disappointed! My daughter and I hoped to repeat our previous experience at the spa. Much to our dismay, the spa is NOT handicapped accessible and now that I'm getting around on crutches I could not get to the spa on the second floor. Why isn't Aqua Spa in compliance with IDEA?
