Kaitlyn at salty salon, is literally my hero. She did such a fantastic job taking care of me and my hair. My hair means the world to me as most women feel the same. Earlier today I felt like I was rushed and mistreated by a local hairstylist, I left feeling not confident and refreshed. I looked on google and saw salty salon, I gave them a call and the owner Moriah (hopefully I spelled that right ) was such a huge help, she was able to squeeze me in and was just so empathetic and caring. Kaitlyn was such a great listener and is so talented, we had some good laughs and she just made me feel so comfortable. For someone who doesn't usually feel comfortable when it's time for a haircut, or style, Kaitlyn definitely changed my perspective on that. I normally don't say this, but I can't wait to get split ends again so I can go back! Such a relaxing, beautiful atmosphere! read more

Had my first appointment with Elizabeth with Salty Hair. Let me back up, my first impression was awesome. The curb appeal is great, but a sweet young lady by the name of Lulu just set the tone for a terrific visit. Lulu is a positively sweet golden retriever, she greets you at the door and escorts you to the checkin desk. Honestly they could shaved my head and I still would have walked out with big grin. My stylist professional was truly that, very professional; she was also very personable, and listened when I described what I actually wanted in a cut. Elizabeth spent time making sure the length was what I wanted and we discussed non-political subjects (thank Goodness, as I frankly don't want to here folk's politics nor discuss mine). My time in Elizabeth's chair was so very relaxing and my cut and style were excellent! I could not be happier! Looking forward to returning in 5 weeks!! read more

I have waited a really long time to post this review because I hate to bash a salon especially when the stylists were nice but they had such a negative impact on my wedding day & I feel like other brides should know. I booked with a stylist & did my trial a few months before my wedding and absolutely LOVED it, I was so happy and comfortable and knew I would love the way I looked on my wedding day. When my wedding day came the stylist that I had booked with was not the one that showed up. When I asked why she wasn't there the girl told me that she had chosen to go to a different wedding that day a bit further away that had a bigger party.... Not only that but she really hadn't shown the girl any pictures of what I wanted so I was scrambling to find makeup pictures the day of. I also paid for airbrush makeup but the gun she brought wasn't working so I didn't get it but still paid for it. I didn't feel beautiful on my wedding day. My hair or makeup weren't what they were at the trial & it felt like I was second best on one of the biggest days of my life because my stylist chose to go somewhere else. I look back at my pictures now and I'm just so unhappy with the way I look. Hopefully this isn't a regular occurrence here but this was my experience and it had a huge impact on my wedding day, I just don't want any bride to have to feel that way & felt the experience needed to be shared. read more

Great experience! As a local and so many salons to choose from, this one being one of the best I have been too. Caroline was my stylist. She did a root smudge, dusting, & low lights in my hair. Turned out exactly how I wanted it too. I didn't go crazy with color because I am trying to fix my bleached hair that is sadly ruined and breaking off.... This is my second time seeing Cordelia, she coloured and cut my hair and I left a happier mom. She undid the mom look and left me feeling good and confident. She's made the point to listen and never impose her will or thoughts on me. This is a very comfortable space and very respectful, there were no local gossips only respectful conversations going on. No one here ever pushed any products on me or funny sales tactics or up sell. I highly recommend Salty Hair and Cordelia and look forward to seeing her very soon. read more

Yesterday I received a tremendous haircut from Forest. Honestly not exaggerating when I say it was one of my best haircuts ever! I had let my hair grow very long over the winter and presented Forest with quite a mare's nest. He not only helped me figure out a style and length for summer, but also executed it perfectly. On top of that, he gave me tips on how to keep it looking good. Miracle of miracles, I woke up the next morning with no "bed head," and -with Forest's suggestions- was able to get it looking pretty darn close to how it looked after my appointment. Now that's a first. Salty Salon is a warm and welcoming place. Forest and his wife Faith have established a thriving and popular business in the OBX. It looks like a haircut will become a regular part of my OBX vacations, and -who knows- maybe an occasional special trip from Hampton? Great haircut, Forest! Thanks! read more

Just got my hair cut with Kendall and I was pleased beyond words. She took the time at the beginning of the appointment to thoroughly discuss what I was looking for and how much day to day maintenance I was interested in doing. She explained the purpose behind each product she used and how to use them correctly at home so I would get a similar result. My new cut is dramatically different from anything I've had in the past and I'm thrilled. The salon itself is just lovely - beach themed without going over the top - and Lulu is a delightful furry bonus. All the stars! read more

Honestly I could never recommend a place more then Salty Hair Salon. I moved to the OBX for the summer and needed something done with my hair. All my co workers recommended this place. Jess literally done the best by me. Not only by getting me in as soon as she could but by booking me a follow up appointment to finish my hair before I moved home. Shea, Esther & Brittany did hair and makeup for my wedding on Saturday, and knocked it out of the park. There were a total of 8 women who had professional beauty services done, and despite the humidity and on and off weather in the OBX, everyone still looked incredible at the end of the night! One of my bridesmaids has such thin hair that never holds and up-do, and she didn't even take hers out until the morning! Shea also stayed past pictures and our first dance and into our reception to do touch ups, to remove my veil, put in a hair clip, and re-curl some of my hair. During this time, she was unbelievably helpful during photos - fixing my veil, making sure I wasn't shiny, and helping me get sprinkles out of my hair! (From recessional toss!) I had an appointment scheduled (before a big family event) the first week of October. The stylist canceled the morning of with no options for another appointment that week. I had to scramble to find an appointment somewhere else. Tried again on November 30. Heard from a stylist right away and gave her the info she requested. It is now December 21st and haven't heard back even after reaching out again. I guess they don't need the business. I won't try again. read more

2 painful experiences. I took my daughter to get a haircut, and the stylist (think her name was Britney or Jessica?) chose not to take the tangles out, nor cut those sections of her hair, and informed she can cut her hair when I bring her without tangles next time. Upon exiting and paying for the bill, I informed the owners and their only response was we'll have a talk with her. No credit, no correction. Ended up taking my daughter to Ulta who spent quality time cutting her hair and getting the tangles out. My second attempt, was my own color. The stylist (Kendal) dyed my brunette hair almost platinum blond! She kept saying no worries, toner will make it less dramatic. 3 tones later, and second trips back. I headed to the city and paid $200 to fix her mistakes and correct my severely damaged hair that I was embarrassed for weeks! Informed owners again, and no corrective measures done. I gave them 2 chances to treat me well. read more

I hired Esther and her girls for my wedding. They did hair and make-up for my mom, my maid of honor, my bridesmaids, and myself. They were so easy to work with, tons of fun, incredibly professional, and did GREAT work. They were able to make me feel the most beautiful I have ever felt in my life. I didn't have time to get my hair cut before coming to the beach. I searched on line and found the Salty Hair Salon. I easily made an appointment for a men's haircut. Everyone here was very friendly. I felt very comfortable. My appointment was with Esther. She was very charming. She asked several questions to try and determine how I wanted my hair cut. Then throughout the cut she continued to check to be sure she was doing what I wanted. The result was I came out looking exactly like I wanted.
