I ended up with a straight cut and face framing layers that were the opposite that I asked for. This entire interaction lasted less than 5 minutes, I was horrified but tried to be nice until she told me it would be $40. I am now on my way to great clips $40 poorer and with way shorter hair than i ever wanted. Please stay away if you care about your hair

Since it was going to be a rainy day yesterday, I figured I would check and see if I could find someone locally to do it. I did a Google search and Perfect Image popped up. I called and spoke to Nhina and was able to set up a morning appointment. When I got to the shop, I was reminded of the shops from way back. The vibe was totally old school. I told her what I wanted and Nhina who is actually the owner and sole employee told me that she thought I would do better with fewer holes pulled in the cap. She was right. She said "I'm glad I didn't listen to you"! She gave me an awesome cut that was so trendy and not a typical "older lady" look. I am so pleased with my hair that I might have to find a way to come back to see her in 6 weeks or so! I had just met this delightful woman and I felt like I had known her for years. She is that good of a human. We hugged when I left and I told her I was going to sing her praises however I was able. If you need a stylist or maybe want a change, please consider Perfect Image. Nhina is a gem!

I told her I would pay for what Little work she did and asked her how much she said $50 for long hair.. that's a joke she didn't even finish the haircut nor is a haircut that takes 10 minutes worth $50.

I have never written a Yelp review but am writing this as a public service announcement. Kerry L…read more is absolutely correct. I read her review before my visit and figured well, it couldn't be that bad. Turns out, it is. I asked for long layers & took off my glasses for the cut. Linda began that she had no time to blow dry or style for my scheduled appointment. When I got there, my hair was down to the middle of my back as it has been all my life. She cut my hair for 15 minutes tops. During the cut with my blurry vision, I asked are you cutting like 6 inches?! Linda said I don't do measurements, I'm just cutting off the damaged hair. I said AGAIN I just want long layers. When Linda was done, I put my glasses back on and my hair was shoulder length wet. I was shocked. I said I can't believe how short you cut my hair. Also when it dries, it it will be even shorter. I said it's too short to even put it in a ponytail. Linda's response was I can show you how and that she's been doing this for 47 years. Maybe it's time to call it a day. Linda charged me $75 which included a diatribe of how awful my hair is for using at home hair products clearly pining for an up-sell of her products. By the way, I don't blow dry, curl or flat iron my hair, use Matrix shampoo & conditioner and color my roots at home. My hair was far from beyond repair requiring a full hacking. Like I said over and over again, I came in to get a long layered hairdo. Now I have a short friar boy's hair don't. BEWARE UPDATE: Linda left me a voicemail saying she "did the best i could with what I had." Offered me $15 back. That's not the point. I don't even want $75 back. Keep it. This is not a post for a price break. It literally is a PSA.

I went in specifically for Smashbox eyelid primer, old fashioned Maybelline mascara and Anastasia Brow Gell but I looked at a ton of other items and parted with a few goodies not on my list. After getting some great help with my shopping list I enjoyed pursuing a plethora of other items like sunscreens, body mist, nail polishes and various other beauty items. This Ulta location has a salon in the back. I have not used their services but I would consider giving them a try for a blowout.

I'm an Ulta freak anyway, but have never had my hair done -- in any fashion -- at an Ulta. My sister swears by the convenience of blowouts, and it *was* my birthday, so....off we went. Stephanie called to confirm our appointments, and also let us know we could come in early. We were just finishing up lunch, so that was really convenient. We got there early, and each browsed while the other got her hair shampooed, dried, and styled (also known as a blowout). Stephanie did a killer job on my hair, showing me how to use a straightener to put beachy curls in my hair. It looked great when she finished. I left with that awesome straightener in hand, as well as a couple other items. Another great Ulta experience, and so glad Ulta is now on the OBX!
