Wow! This cafe is awesome. I wasn't expecting to find a place like this tucked away into Pacifica. The interior is great and has a nice relaxing vibe. It was somewhat busy for Sunday morning breakfast, but once I ordered, the food came out pretty quick. I actually came back here later for lunch on the same day just to try their acai bowls! Acai Bowls: Not bad, but not the best. The acai was blended a bit too much and was borderline soupy. There wasn't a whole lot of acai flavor, but I think that's because they used the unsweetened acai, as a result the apple juice blended into my acai really came out. I still thought it was great though and it's great to be able to pick up an acai bowl here! Breakfast sandwich: This thing is awesome. Take a look at that beauty. It came out piping hot and fresh, the ciabatta roll was great, airy on the inside with a toasty outer coating. And the onion butter, wow. Noriega Smoothie: The smoothie was great! Ingredients-wise it was pretty similar to the blended acai for my bowl. But it was a fantastic smoothie! I can't wait to drop by here again when I'm in the area. Sad to see this place look so bad. Not clean, menu on the wall is a mess. Can't tell what is what. Bought a baba ganush and it was bad. It expired who knows when. Waited forever for a pita bread to be toasted as well as getting a smoothie. Lots of display cases empty. Maybe there was time they displayed something. It felt like a bunch of stuff got shoved aside in this dining room. The tables were a mess. And it seemed like with 2 people behind the counter had no care in the world. I like doing updates for places I really love, so I am writing an update of an update for Beach Monkey. I went here to work again this past Monday and I ordered my favorite dish, the artichoke dip (I love it so much, I keep writing about it!!). Beach Monkey has been quicker at serving when I have gone lately, but the artichoke dip does take a while. I think I waited about 15 minutes for it, which seems typical in my experience. They don't warn you it will take extra time, so if you are in a rush, it is definitely not the thing to order. I think the reason it takes a while is that they bake the dip in the oven before they serve it. But that is what makes the dip so so so mouthwateringly good. The artichoke dip is brought in the ramekin it was baked in and they present it with tri-colored tortilla chips on a large plate. It is baked with spinach, red onions, garlic, and what tastes like a really good olive oil. I literally crave it and love love ordering this as a treat during my work day. You know that thing everybody's talking about with the butter in the coffee and it being a thing now? Well, I don't know if they do that here, but their chai latte was the frothiest, velvetiest, most buttery chai I've ever had. Basically a dream in a cup... and the only way it would have been better is if it had been served in a real mug. I came here after a trip to the nearby tide pools where I'd had my heart set on finding an octopus (to poke with a sea stick)... Spoiler Alert: No poking was done that day. In the process of attempting to poke around the ocean I took on a few pretty brisk winds mixed with ocean spritz and felt the need to warm the chill out of my bones with treats at Beach Monkey Cafe. Luckily, my second mission for the day was a success. As mentioned, the Chai Tea Latte was perfection, but I didn't stop there - Oh no. I kept going with a hearty serving of their Mac & Cheese (Spoiler Alert: It has bread crumbs and is served in the casserole dish it's baked in). And then I topped it off with their brownie ice cream sundae thing, which, sadly, wasn't all I'd hoped it would be. The brownies had a strange plastic/silicone-y taste and it just was not my jam. The service was actually pretty lame on both my experiences here... though I came pretty late in the evening on a Saturday so it wasn't busy and mainly had people doing laptop work at the tables. Not the liveliest, but a good in between for being a coffee shop/restaurant. I'll totally be back for more Chai and (Mac and) Cheese in the very near future and hopefully they'll put some time in turning their service woes around. read more

Couldn't have asked for a better experience. Lady at the front was very sweet and understand of our request. We got the Hook and Pedro point and enjoyed it so much we kept getting brain freezes. Located in a quiet shopping center that is reminiscent of the old Pacifica. This is our new snack spot when we come to Pacifica. read more

Came here after hiking today as Yelp has them for 4 stars. I was not impressed. The girl at the counter was lacking friendliness- we had to ask for the Orange juice we ordered after waiting for 10 or so mins. She came back and said "we actually ran out of orange juice. Do you want a refund or something else?" Really? You had us waited for nothing? To think that we came in with no customers. Maybe this place needs to check on their inventory before opening! They even gave my friend the incorrect salad (he chose with chicken and came with mushroom). No apologies from the girl at the counter. I guess they're good with their drinks - we only had water and salad. You have to get your water at the counter-- but they don't even refill the pitcher. Suggestion: someone needs to constantly check that the pitcher has water all the time-- to think that there's only a few customers dining in. Today, again, the first thing I order (Cuban sandwich) is rejected. Reorder and ask for a shelter cove, which they have. Two tables haven't been bussed; it's not busy in here. New guests don't have a comfortable place to sit unless they want to be cold by the door, because the table isn't bussed. Came here this past weekend after hanging out at Linda Del Mar beach. This place seemed relatively close, had good reviews, and I liked the name, so decided to head over and give it a try. Cafes aren't known for their food (at least not in a good way) so perhaps we should have tried something else since we weren't all that interested in coffee, just food. I don't think people order food here often because when we asked to see a food menu the person at the counter went to the back, perhaps to ask the cooks if they were OK with it. The cooks we up for it, lol. We had the nachos as an appetizer and I got the Cuban pork sandwich. The nachos were good and had chicken, cheddar cheese, and came with fresh made guacamole. The Cuban was not to my liking unfortunately. I definitely liked the pork and ham that were inside as well as the bread it game on. But, to me it just had several interesting tastes going on that may not go that well together. Perhaps its the homemade pickles I didn't like. To me there was a odd relish-like taste that I didn't like to much. I ended up just eating the meat, lol. Side note, the small coffee is really small. As in tiny. But to be fair, I do recall the menu saying 8oz. I just had no idea how small 8oz really was. The sandwich and coffee came out to $15, which I think is a little pricey for the sandwich size, amount of chips given, and coffee size. read more

I live nearby and have come here many many times and keep coming back due to the lack of decent coffee shops in Pacifica but really can't recommend it. If you have time to waste and the patience of a yogi, there are some nice things about Beach Monkey, such as: A nice ambiance Good açaí bowls Easy parking Nice staff (I feel bad for the people working the register who are clearly overwhelmed by the amount of orders and lack of help) The issue is clearly with the owner/management. There is not enough staff to take orders, make coffee, and make food in a reasonable amount of time. And the front door. My god, someone fix the door. It squeaks and is installed backwards so it requires you to pull when you exit but it should be a push to exit and nearly everyone who uses the door fumbles. read more

Finally got to try this place after hearing so much about it. After reading some of the yelp reviews, I thought my acai bowl would be more liquidy but it was actually the right consistency! The Beach Monkey bowl with almond milk was delicious, refreshing and surprisingly super filling. They were very generous with the granola and goji berries. It looks like July 2020 that it will be open for business again with practically identical menu with a couple new twists. Cute place we found on Yelp while on a short trip through Pacifica. The acai bowls are wonderful! Thick and full of fruit, granola, etc. There are several recipe choices for the acai bowls, whish is nice. We ordered the small size, and they were plenty big. We had coconut milk lattes and they were a bit thick. They must use coconut cream rather than milk. Couldn't really taste the coffee... They may want to reconsider the type of coconut milk thry use, but we'd definitely be back for the acai bowls! read more

This cute little cafe is just minutes from the beach. It's a very laid back kinda joint with a more relaxed pace than most other cafes. The small staff at this joint is super friendly and welcoming. This cozy little place offers a little bit of everything on their small menu. I ordered 2 chai lattes, a tortilla cheese chicken dip and for my husband, a shepherds pie that came with a side salad and it was all very delicious and fresh. I wil state that some of the items on the menu are a wee bit pricy, such as the tortilla cheese dip. I personally didn't think it was worth $10.00, but still glad I tried it. I think next time I'll go for something a little less pricy and hopefully it'll be just as tasty as the dip. We came in after a surfing lesson at nearby Linda Mar Beach and the place was fairly open--only one occupied table. The decor is nice and the place looks very clean, and they have a nice big menu of the coffees and their prices. The wait is a bit long, and I'm not really sure why, given that there wasn't a whole lot going on, but it looked like there were only two workers available: one guy in the back who seemed to be doing dishes when we came in and then the barista up front. My companion got the Shelter Cove (tuna melt w/capers & tomatoes) and a small mocha, I got the Sweeney Ridge (portobello mushroom w/sun-dried tomatoes & mozzarella) and a hot cocoa. We'd wanted to order the vegetarian panzarotti and then the tomato soup, but both were apparently out of stock at about 3pm. (I find this odd for something that is part of their dinner menu, which the banners outside were advertising as being something new.) My sandwich was good, but surprisingly small and slightly skimpy on the fillings for the price; the hot cocoa tasted mostly of hot milk with a hint of chocolate, and I'm not fond of the taste of milk :( My companion's mocha, however, was fantastic and I rather wished I'd ordered that instead. Apparently the tuna melt was good as well. Overall, it seems like the food we were able to get was quite good, and they seem to know what they are doing with coffee, but they definitely aren't fast food. Try the mocha :) read more

I was looking to expand my healthy, and organic food choices and came across this organic cafe in Pacifica. Beach Monkey organic cafe is small (fits about 20ppl), cute, cozy, clean, and you feel comfortable is basic attire. I ordered a Go Green Smoothie, natural hot dog, and a Pedro Point Acai bowl. The portions were fair and it taste so delicious, fresh, and prepared perfect. Price is a little more than your average cafe; however, my health has no budget. I would come here again to order anything because everything looks so delicious. In addition, I don't mine paying a few extra bucks to get organic food. FANTASTIC POUR-OVER COFFEE! I mulled over this proclamation to determine if it's indeed the best drip brew I've ever had in the Bay Area. It is. Sophie's Sumatra is my favorite roast as it has a delightful aroma with soft chocolate undertones. I spend a good amount of time just enjoying the aroma of the brew. Fresh, rich, silky, luscious & full-bodied coffee with a clean & exceptionally satisfying finish is right here in this sweet, peaceful City of Pacifica (trivia: did you know Pacifica means peaceful in Spanish?). Bathroom is exceptionally clean, service is warm & friendly, & food is good. They serve freshly baked goods and decent breakfasts. Warm ambience brought about by the wooden décor which doesn't make you feel like you're in a strip mall. I worked here for three days, although I enjoyed it and meeting all the locals in my community, he decided to let me go for no reason after my third day. He let me go over email without any reason(even when asked why). He doesn't give any of his employees break even though via contract, we are supposed to get one. Although the food may be organic, it might not be clean as in the three days I have worked there I learned that this owner along with not valuing hard working emplyees.... also doesn't value the "deep cleaning" of kitchen and work space read more

This review is to help better the experience of others. First off the newest person should not be the person on the espresso bar. The person on the register was explaining to the person on the espresso machine how to make a cappuccino. Second, the milk should fill all the way to the top of the cup. It's so relaxed though that I feel their location is perfect - kinda tucked away, not too close to the bustling Linda Mar Plaza. Love love LOVE the Fusili Marinara with Sweet Italian Sausage. Pure deliciousness. Pasta cooked just right. Minor spice in the sauce. Even the 4 little pieces of garlic bread were SUUUPER delicious! Definitely a fan of their pasta. I used to be a regular, but ever since the new owners, I feel like everything has gone down hill from the service to the food and dare I say it...the Açaí bowls! First they got rid of the artichoke dip which was seriously one of the best I've ever had. Moreover, younger kids are working in the establishment which I have no problem with, but one instance one of them kind of tossed the spoons onto our table after we asked for some.
