Now, I don't live in Florida full time, I'm only in Florida a couple months out of the year. I got an ad on Instagram while I was there for the 6week transformation challenge so I reached out and went in for a consultation with the manager and ended up signing up for what I thought was the 6weeks program. In this program it included a "nutrition plan" that ended up just being one page with what I should eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner, a page that looked like was put together in 5minutes and printed out. The class itself was great, the trainer was awesome but I ended up not going for the full 6weeks because I got sick that month and was ok with losing the money since it was not their fault I got sick. Well, it turned out that they kept my credit card on file and have been charging me $169/month ever since for a membership I never signed up for. I have reached out to the manager and she never replied to my last message. I feel scammed and they are not conducting good business practice. I do not recommend.

My experience is limited to the classes through Groupon:…read more Pros: -Instructors are friendly and enthusiastic. -They give you free boxing gloves with a Groupon deal. Cons: -After a first class, they grab you and go over one year membership (very pushy!!). -It is difficult to reserve a spot. They only allow you to reserve one class at a time if you are not a regular member. -You can only reserve a spot in person or by calling. However, they are only available to answer your call a couple hours before the evening classes. -When you finally get a chance to talk to them, the classes are full. The instructor told me that they can only allow 4 beginners per class. Thus, although the classes weren't full, I couldn't take the class. In conclusion, it just took too much effort to take a class and enjoy the workout.

The people that work here and go here are some of the most special and unique people I have ever meet. To be honest I should have written a review about this place a long time ago when I lived in Florida, but I didn't, I dropped the ball, but while back visiting after a year away I stopped in and the feeling of love and welcome was so overwhelming I would be amiss to not step up and say how much I love this place. This gym offers a unique variety of things that you can't find at your regular box gyms. You can take Kickboxing, Sanshou, Kung Fu, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu or Bootcamp. They offer classes for both kids and adults 7 days a week. From the time you walk in to the time you leave, they really do take the extra time to focus on you. Your needs, your goals, your weaknesses, your strengths. Always encouraging you and always there to call you out if you need it, and trust me sometimes I did. Walking into John Wai, you feel warm and welcome. It reminds me of Cheers "Where every body knows your name, and they are always glad you came". Not only do they offer a gym where you can really reach those goals that you want, they offer more, they offer an amazing community, a family. Walking into a new gym is often scary and you always run into these cliques, but this place is the only place I have never ever experienced that. From the owner down to the newest member everyone is happy, helpful, and friendly. Tucked away in the back of a tiny plaza in the middle of Plantation, this place really is a diamond in the rough. I know when I leave again at the end of my holiday this will be one place that I will always miss, not matter where I go and I will always look forward to visiting when I come back. If you are really looking for a place to workout and meet amazing people, this is the place to go!

I wanted a workout that was challenging enough to satisfy the fitness junkie in me but paced enough that I wouldn't burn out. I was jumping back into a structured workout regiment after 3 years away from a group fitness setting so it was important that everyone was welcoming. I could not have asked for a better group of trainers and gym goers as well. Everyone is really nice, friendly and encouraging. And I always get a good workout here. You can book classes through their app, which is really easy to download and use. Unlike other places (looking at you OrangeTheory), you get some grace with canceling if necessary. Of course, they don't encourage cancellations but they do offer some grace if it happens so you can keep the sessions you pay for. Also, you can text the trainers to let them know what's going on and they actually answer. Things to know: The music is great but it varies from trainer to trainer. Love hip hop? Take Stephanie's classes. Love Latin-inspired music? Damian is your dude. Prefer a rock/hip hop mix? Then Chris is your man. They are obsessive about cleanliness. This is one of the main reasons I feel comfortable coming here. They are really on the ball as far as cleanliness goes. That's a plus at this point. Each class is taught by a trainer who cares about you getting the best workout possible. Seriously. You don't have to worry about only one person being good while everyone else is mediocre. They all bring something unique and care immensely about their students. I could go on but really I have found a great way to workout and a new gym home! I encourage you to try a free class or free week to see what it's all about. You will not be disappointed.

I read the reviews for IntensityX3 and decided to check it out since I always love a good kickboxing class. Since it was my first time there I had to take a 25 minute new members class with Ivy. There was one other newbie boxer in attendance and she went thru some of the punches and kicks she would be calling out in the 50 minute class that followed. While I've boxed before it was super helpful since there were a lot of different punches and kicks in the actual class. The 50 minute class was packed and clearly with many regulars. Ivy taught this as well and the first half of the class was kickboxing. She took us thru many high energy routines - it was fun and we broke a sweat! The second half of the class was all butt/legs. It was a great combo of cardio and strength and I left bummed that i was headed back to Chicago later that day since I wanted to go again. I"ll definitely be back next time I head home to South Florida! The studio itself isn't easy to find! They are located in the back of the Office Depot plaza, although the other side of Office Depot. Turn left before the Public Storage Building and look for the black awning. I had trouble, but called them and they stayed on the phone with me giving me solid directions. The only thing I didn't love was doing this workout barefoot, which they claim is better for your feet. I prefer to workout in shoes, especially when kicking backs and working with heavy weights. Perhaps it's just something I need to get used to, but everything else was solid!
