For real work, these guys seem to be OK if you know exactly what you need done. Probably not the cheapest. Paid them $2000 for a water pump replacement in the past. Big messy hours-long job. Work seems alright. They also seem to be the type to charge you hundreds of dollars for simple fixes and string you along if they think they can get away with it. I had diagnostics done last week after a failed emissions. Tech came back and quoted $450 for parts and labor on a MAF replacement. That is a part sitting plainly on top of the engine. It is held in by a mere 2 screws and takes maybe 15 minutes to replace. It costs no more than $100 on RockAuto. Not to mention, the actual cause of the failure was a failed PCV system. Coated the MAF and the intake system in vaporized oil. Very common on my engine, bad design. Aftermarket fix is $180 and permanent. If I had these folks do it, I'd have been down $450 for a MAF, and probably another $1500 or more immediately after to actually address the cause with factory parts that will also break. Yeah, DIY is always cheaper, but you guys gotta tell me the whole story when the diagnosis is this easy :(

The person on the phone even made comments about how glad they were that we were safe as the brakes were metal on metal, etc.The written estimate that arrived was much higher and still had these things listed as critical along with a few smaller issues. When I requested an itemized breakdown and compared parts prices to AutoZone retail, I found parts were marked up over 2x retail across the board. When I called to ask about this, prices dropped immediately without any additional information from me. It took them over night to send the original estimate but the new one arrived within minutes of my texting. I ultimately approved only the wheel bearing and lug stud repair and negotiated the price down. The actual safety critical item, one lug nut holding the wheel on, was buried after the full upsell menu was presented. Several items were listed as critical on that quote that they later said were not actually critical. I posted anonymously in a local group asking for honest mechanic recommendations. The owner identified me by my comments, I guess, and referenced my vehicle publicly to signal he knew who I was. I feel as if this might have been an attempt to get me to remove my anonymous post. Multiple other folks in the comments described identical experiences including false "metal on metal" urgency that softened the moment they pushed back. The work was done and we picked up the car this morning. The process to get to that point was frustrating. Since I only see good reviews I wanted to offer another perspective. The staff is very nice and the banter when we came in was fun. But nice is not the same as honest. I would advise anyone using this place to check retail prices of parts. And since they always offer better prices with push back, everyone who deals with them should question their prices. Some labor costs were good and some were listed at the high end for the area but not ridiculously so. The biggest price "padding" was in the parts themselves. The work seems good at this time, if you want to pay extra for parts in order to be treated nice in a fancy waiting room, I suppose it's worth it to pay more for that service but it's a nah from us. Lamb's had done some more-than-an-oil-change work before so I gave them a call. They said, sure, tow it in, "we'll take a look." It only took a couple of hours to determine the old engine was blow. The repair took a while--about 10 days to get it back--but even getting a reman engine 30 years out of date is a trick in itself. The initial estimate didn't quite hold: a $1500 part from the old engine could not make the swap, but everything else went as planned. There was one trip back after they said it was "finished" to get the dashboard thermometer to read right. Now its back on the road.

This guy that he sent had to come back because break line and components came off next day while driving. I have pics and texts to prove. My GM 6.2 V8 come to find out common problem for that motor lifters went out so I went to him for the engine replacement. His price quoted was pretty good so I gave him a shot. My car was not even drivable this whole time (we had to wait on engine and things for months) yet I get a call the day he test drives it for the first time and he tells me I need new steering column. The car did not go in for steering issues. It was completely fine. He blames it on wear and tire from my lift and big tires. I call the people who did my lift and I called covert Cadillac certified mechanics and gave the history of car and lift and all and they called BS. My fault for not driving to Frank's place to see for myself. So I pick it up after engine replacement and steering column replacement. I get not but a mile down road from his shop and no acceleration and engine is just revving up loud . I coast off the road to luckily a gas station right there. What looks like oil and grease is splattered all over undercarriage and side and back windows. I have pics of all this. Transmission line came off. I won't give any more specific on this because I'm in process of filing the lawsuit and taking him to court. So He has a guy come meet me, I took video of his mechanics actions and what he did and Frank telling him on the phone I'm good to go, needless to say he screwed up. I get home and next day the car does it again right as I drive out of my home. I call Frank to get it towed back to his shop which is about 45 min to an hour from Lakeway. Frank gets car back, now he tells me I need new transmission. After transmission I go back to car to pickup and I go to open my door and there was mechanic grease all over headliner and seats, spilled oil on my rubber mats, bird shit all over the outside and dust and pollen caked the interior. He left windows cracked. I took pics of everything as proof. He decides to offer me a detail, so he sends me down the road. He paid for it yet I waited 3 hours. What I'm paid for my time in work you could say was a bigger loss. The fact alone my car was in that condition when he called to tell me it was ready is reason alone you shouldn't use him. I've included pics with this post. I could go on with several other smaller things I asked him to do while he had my car for engine replacement and transmission repair that I needed done. He never fixed them. I again have proof where he acknowledges he forgot so now I have to reschedule to have him finish the job. I also recorded most of our phone conversations that prove he apologizes for messing up. It came to the point where I was recording the convos because prior to me doing that it was just word salad on his part and I knew it this point I needed to document for the court. You would be amazed how many texts I have where I have had to constantly follow up and check on him after he would give me a supposed timeline or update with a promise he would keep me updated. I'm convinced all these reviews on here that are high stars aren't legit whatsoever. I have meticulously documented everything with pics, texts and phone conversations. If you're smart and reading this don't give him your business no matter how well quoted he may be . He may try to defend himself with a reply like some others he's done to on here. I've got it all though m, the truth. I was always extremely nice in all my texts to him, I was at the mercy of his screw ups and didn't want to be a jerk. No matter what when your rude or a jerk you run the risk to be even more screwed over so I chose to take high road and he knows it. I've verified and shown all my proof to several different master General Motors Master technicians and they all came back with resounding response that Frank was at fault. So now it will be in the courts hands and I will update this once it's over. For anyone that would like to know more you can contact me. I've got all you would need to run as fast as you can from this mechanic. I've even documented some new mechanics that showed me what things he did that they couldn't believe from when he did the engine replacement. His shop spliced so many wires and I took video the moment the mechanics found these issues and they talk on camera about it. I've asked Frank over the last several weeks and really last 6 months to send me an itemized list of repairs like a receipt. His reply was he texted me the cost every time he had to charge me for something. Last thing, he never once showed up on time for any of the jobs that he did. I have proof of his reasons for being late and apologies for every one of them. What kind of professional does that. All the more reason to believe these reviews are fake
