The ride itself is fast but smooth, though it is worth noting that sitting backwards against the direction of travel might make you feel a little queasy, even if it is tolerable. For convenience, there are luggage racks located right by the entrance doors. The seating layout features a table for every four seats, making it easy to share space, and there are handy charging ports located at the side of each table. The vessel is also equipped with washrooms and a cafe bar for coffee and light snacks, and safety is well-covered with life vests stored right under every seat. ​Once you arrive, the trip stays seamless thanks to a free shuttle service that picks you up at the Nanaimo terminal and takes you straight into Downtown Nanaimo. It is a fantastic, hassle-free crossing that I highly recommend.

I just trusted my GPS to find a ferry, but didn't check to make sure that it went to Victoria. Shucks! It happened to be a terminal for cruise ships only. No cars allowed on the ships either! Uhg! Passengers only! (We're thought that we could Uber around Victoria without the car since could not take the car with us.) I paid by credit card in advance and will have to contact to Parking Company later to get a refund. Lesson learned.

Tip 1: There are only vending machines for snacks and drinks - don't expect gift shops or cafes inside this terminal. If time permits, one can park the car in the ferry lineup and walk over to the horseshoe bay village for takeout foods. As walk on ferry passengers, it's easy to look for food options at the village across from the ferry terminal. Tip 2: Do make sure you have a pre-paid vehicle booking for all sailings departing here, except for vehicles heading to Bowen Island. Drive on the right-most lane if you are heading to Bowen and purchase a ticket at the end of the lane. Tip 3: Highway driving - pay attention to switch to the right lane before exit 3; it's simply a nuisance if you miss turning off on exit 3 when rushing for a ferry sailing. Tip 4: Transit via bus 257 is convenient from downtown Vancouver or Park Royal - good transit option for getting to this terminal. * Vancouver Vice *…read more Ok, so we wanted to go to Bowen Island for the day and starting looking into the options. It was either BC Ferries or Granville Island Water Taxi. To take the ferries you have to get all the way out to Horseshoe Bay, which either means catching a long bus ride from downtown or driving (including dealing with the Lion's Gate Bridge traffic) and paying a lot for parking. The ferry by itself costs about $18 round trip and then you have parking, bus, hassle, etc. on top of that. Enter Granville Island Water Taxi. It leaves from the convenient dock near the False Creek Ferry portion of the Granville Island docks. It costs only $25 round trip to Bowen Island. It was a no brainer. You can book reservations easily online for any of their trips (which generally run every 90 minutes or so). The boat is much smaller than a ferry and only holds 12 passengers. You definitely feel the speed - as the captain revs up the engines the front half of the boat lifts out of the water. Picture Miami Vice but instead of loud neon suited cops there are a bunch of west coast laid back types with their bicycles and dogs. Vancouver Vice. From GI to Snug Cove it only took about 25 minutes. It could have taken that long just to get across the Lion's Gate bridge! While this isn't billed as a tour, the ship's captain was kind enough to narrate the landmarks (including each owner of the the vast row of yachts docked nearby!) that we were passing as well as each of the stops and what adventures could be had there. She was really entertaining and kind, as she also helped with several lost travelers standing at one of the stations. It was a smooth ride on a sunny day and the views were absolutely gorgeous. FYI, there are no amenities on board, so no concession stand or washrooms, although the ride roundtrip is only around 40 minutes -you don't really need it to begin with.

Very convenient AquaBus ride from Granville Island straight over to Yaletown, spending some time walking around and hanging out there, and then coming back to Granville Island for the rest of the day. It's such a short and sweet ride, but you still get to enjoy beautiful views of False Creek along the way. Another favourite is taking it over toward Science World and making a whole afternoon out of it. You can visit Science World, walk around False Creek and then head back to Granville Island. It's also really pretty at night when all the lights and signs are reflecting on the water. After spending a long day at Granville Island, hopping on the boat and just enjoying the ride is such an easy way to end the day. And the best part is that it's cheap! For the price, it's such a fun little Vancouver experience and something I keep coming back to and always making sure to have my out of town guests join in as well!

The tickets are pretty…read morecheap at a few dollars each depending on where you're going - even if you don't have a particular destination, it's fun to just ride along. It's pretty hard to tell which direction the ferry is going next though unless you're very familiar with the routes, so make sure you ask the driver just in case. I find that the ones I've interacted with all ask you where you're going before letting you on, so at least I haven't taken the wrong boat yet. They have a zone system for ticketing and at first it was a bit confusing for which zone ticket was needed to go where. But they have nice maps at each stop so it wasn't too hard to decipher after awhile. The boat drivers were also pretty nice and were happy to answer questions about tickets. I took the boats during the Big Picnic event at David Lam park. There were other people on the boat but it was not crowded at all. Boats also came all the time and so we didn't have to wait much before ours came. The boat doors were left open when I rode the boats and so it was really nice to be able to take pictures and videos without obstruction from the windows or clear screens. The creek is relatively calm most of the time and the rides are short, so most people probably won't get sea sick.

As a tourist, you want to visit Granville island, Science museum, Maritime museum, Museum of vancouver, various parks, Davie Village, all are within a short walking distance from these Ferry stops. You can save a lot of time, energy and money with this pass. Not only will you be seeing this as a mode of transportation but also as a picturesque journey itself. Considering how short the rides are, you dont really have to plan much. You can hop on hop off as you feel like. The boats are small, so there is never really much of a waiting time for docking or embarkation. Like a city bus but on water. Must try.

Much better to take the excellent public transport especially when it's as fun as this. This ferry runs across Burrard Inlet from Waterfront Station in Downtown to Lonsdale Quay on Northshore. At most times 2 ferries run a service every 15 minutes, passing in the middle. Though it's accessible, it is a fair walk down a long corridor on the Downtown side. (You can also link to bus and Skytrain services there by the way). Once on the ferry the seating is functional but clean, and you can bet the kids will grab the seats by the front window! Never mind, in my experience you can see out pretty well wherever you sit, though there's always half the seats facing in the wrong direction! The journey across is just long enough to take in a view of cruise ships, mountains and maybe a few float planes taking off and landing. From the Northshore/Lonsdale Quay end you can visit the nearby market, or take a bus and head towards Grouse Mountain or Lyn Canyon Park. The buses are timed to connect with the ferries. If you have a travel card it will cover you for the SeaBus. Definitely THE way to travel to Northshore!

I wanted to explore the Queensborough neighbourhood by the river, so Q to Q Ferry was the perfect method to do it. The ferry is a 12 passenger boat with TransLink bus style seats that is capable wheelchairs, bicycles and dogs. The cost is two dollars for a one way trip for an adult. Children under five years old are free, and it's one dollar for concession: seniors 65 years and older and youth 14 to 18 and children 5 to 13 years. Just remember to bring the correct amount of money because staff don't have change. I liked how I could walk into the ferry and pay the 2 dollars and use their service right away. There was no need for reservations, and you don't have to pay at a booth. The ferry operators were friendly and helpful, and the ride was a great way to experience the currents and waves of the Fraser River with beautiful historic views of the New Westminster area.

Since the Q2Q was extended and the schedule has been expanded, my family uses it for work commutes, grocery shopping, running errands, and catching the sky train to other parts of the city. The Q2Q has changed our lives, and encouraged us to spend more time shopping and exploring New West. The real surprise is the helpful, kind, and friendly staff. The pilots and crew know the river, know the community, and have become part of our neighborhood. We're in good hands with Bowen Land and Sea Taxi, and I hope New West continues the reliable service with this outstanding company.
