A really nice way to get across false creek from one side to the other. The tickets are pretty cheap at a few dollars each depending on where you're going - even if you don't have a particular destination, it's fun to just ride along. It's pretty hard to tell which direction the ferry is going next though unless you're very familiar with the routes, so make sure you ask the driver just in case. I find that the ones I've interacted with all ask you where you're going before letting you on, so at least I haven't taken the wrong boat yet. They have a zone system for ticketing and at first it was a bit confusing for which zone ticket was needed to go where. But they have nice maps at each stop so it wasn't too hard to decipher after awhile. The boat drivers were also pretty nice and were happy to answer questions about tickets. I took the boats during the Big Picnic event at David Lam park. There were other people on the boat but it was not crowded at all. Boats also came all the time and so we didn't have to wait much before ours came. The boat doors were left open when I rode the boats and so it was really nice to be able to take pictures and videos without obstruction from the windows or clear screens. The creek is relatively calm most of the time and the rides are short, so most people probably won't get sea sick. read more

A fabulous way to get to Granville Island from Vancouver's West End. We walked down Thurlow to the corner of Beach and found the False Creek Ferry docked near the aquatic center. They leave every 5 minutes. For a modest sum we ferried across to Granville Island. What a pleasant experience and easy way to go to Granville Island! read more

Hopped on the false creek ferry at the Maritime museum stop after walking over from Kitsilano pool. Was lucky enough to get there as a ferry was arriving, it was not crowded and we were able to get one. I saw the QR code on the dock and asked if I needed to scan to pay but was told I could pay on board. Captain/driver was very friendly. Kidlet had questions once we docked about why there was a hole with water coming out and they explained that the boat takes in water to keep the engine cool and water comes out that hole. It was a nice cruise over to Granville Island. It was $14 CAD ($8.63 USD) one way for myself and child. There were plenty of False Creek Ferries in the water. As we approached another station we did not have to stop as there was a boat there already. Thing to note the ramps down to the dock at the Maritime museum is very steep. If you have mobility issues or assisted devices you may struggle. I was worried I was going to face plant as the grade of the ramp was very steep. At the Granville Island stop the ramp to go up from the dock is fairly steep as well. If in the area again I would ride and potentially go to other stops. read more

We purchased a day pass for $20 and were able to jump on and off the ferry at different locations to tour around Vancouver. Each of the drivers were great and very skilled. We chose the 20 minute tour, and heard not a peep from the driver. It was affordable, but slow, noisy, and not informative at all. I would have overlooked the first two if there had been some pointing out of things. I guess it depends on the person, but if people are paying for a tour and not just a point a to point b ride, I think some talking is expected. She patiently explained to us the places we can go to and visit using their ferry service. We would have gone back to the hotel, had she not told us to go visit Kitsilano beach and the Maritime museum. She was very helpful to the other tourists who were buying tickets just like us. Choi was awesome and helpful, too. We left a box of fruit on the ferry and he asked us if we wanted it back. Although, it was ok not to get it back, we found it very thoughful of him to ask. One line review: Fun way to see Vancouver. We live in Vancouver but had not had a chance to spend a day using these little ferries to explore. We finally did it yesterday, and it was wonderful. On a beautiful day, Vancouver is one of the most beautiful cities in the world, and riding out on the water, in the open air (in some cases) is a must-do. We purchased the day pass. Frankly, I didn't add up whether that was a good deal for us; we were on a date, and I just went for it. But we rode the length of their coverage, from the Vancouver Maritime Museum (near Kitsilano beach) all the way to Olympic Village. We walked around False Creek a ways, had some lunch in Yaletown, then picked up the ferry at the dock there and rode all the way back to the starting point. Ferries come fairly often -- about every 15 minutes or so. So you don't really have to keep track of a schedule; just show up at the dock and wait for the next one. Judging value on this service may depend on the person. It's not ultra cheap. But it's a fun experience that the whole family might enjoy, and as entertainment as well as transportation, I think it's worth it. Note: If you have a family member who is mobility challenged (say, they use a walker or a wheelchair). this might not work for you. I hear tell that there's an alternative ferry service that might work out better for that, but I've not reviewed it yet. You can see my photos in the photo section; the way I uploaded them, they don't appear with this review. :-( But trust me: On a sunny day, the views and overall experience are gorgeous. There are two main ferry companies you can use to get to Grandville Island. I received a nice map from my hotel concierge and walked a brisk 5 minutes to to the Nations Plaza stop. There was signage for the ferries throughout my walk and when I arrived at the dock I waited 5 minutes before the False Creek Ferry arrived. I'm an early bird so I lucked out and had the ferry to myself for the entire ride. A round trip fare was $12.50 and bonus points because they take credit cards on the ride. If you're in Vancouver and have even an hour to spare I definitely recommend taking a ride with False Creek Ferries. read more

False creek serviced the science museum, David Lam park, the Village, the plaza, Granville Island, two beaches, and the Maritime museum. Visiting Granville Public Market via ferry was high on our agenda on this long holiday weekend. Expecting big crowds and difficulty finding parking spot for our rental car, we decided to walk from our hotel to the Aquatic Museum stop (1 1/2 miles). Ticket purchase was easy on the spot. The ferry service was very efficient. Watching the captain dexterously doing his one-person routine of helping passengers embark/disembark from the little boat and driving the ferry was devastating . I was taking this ferry from Yaletown to Granville Island one afternoon when I saw a serrated butter knife tucked into the inside of the boat's port side. I picked it up and gave it to the operator saying "I just saw this and wanted to give it to you." For the next 6 minutes she really showed zero customer service skills. She just kept arguing with me, saying "oh it's fine I just don't agree with you." Worst customer service ever. As someone who works with the public, I would have taken then knife and said "thank you," because if someone gets shanked in my store it's still my responsibility if I intentionally leave the weapon in plain sight. I'm not sure if she was putting the knife back there time after time.... I'm a nice guy and a gentleman but lately I've been chastising myself for not dropping her in the water. read more

Fantastic thing to do in BC We were there for a vacation, and staying near the Stadium. We wanted to go to Granville Island. Hotel clerk said, just walk around the stadium to the Nations Plaza and catch the ****bus. So we walked, found a dock. Sitting at the dock was an old pontoon boat that looked like it came off of the Colorado River. The ****bus. Apparently not going to Granville, it sputtered off with a bad misfire on a beat up outboard. Re-thinking the plan, as we turned a well put together little boat with actual windows pulled up to the dock. False Creek Ferry. Clean. White. Idling smoothly. Captain says he is going to Granville. Price is great, so we hop on and buy a round trip ticket. Smooth trip, a couple of stops. Professional Captain. Dropped us off and advised us of the last scheduled ferry back. The trip back was just as smooth. Boat was in great shape just like the last one. Clean and quiet. I highly recommend the Fals Creek Ferry service. read more

Wow, this company has slipped. Do yourself a favor and buy your tickets with your phone! Our pilot quoted us wrong prices, and gave us wrong return tickets. My husband tried to double check that the return ticket would get us back to our starting point and the pilot was rude and said it absolutely would. But the signage in the boat said we needed a 2-zone return and we paid the 2-zone r/t price, but he insisted on giving us 1-zone return tickets. We checked at the booth at Granville and they confirmed that we needed 2-zone return tickets and gave them to us, thankfully. They said our pilot was new and still learning. The problem is that he wasn't our pilot for our return, so we would have been asked to pay more had we not checked in advance. Our return pilot was definitely more experienced, but he was watching Instagram videos on his phone while piloting throughout False Creek. Even if he's experienced and has done it a million times, that is unprofessional. We've used the False Creek Ferries since our teenagers were toddlers, and never had such an uncomfortable experience. I guess we'll try the Aquabus next time. read more

Water taxi is a things to do in Vancouver. I think taking a bus is cheaper but such a fun way to see the city. I took this water taxi from the science world to get to the Granville Island. Discount if you purchase round trip ticket. Cash only and purchase your ticket on board. I saw a ticket office if you start your journey from the Granville Island and I think they may accept credit card. Sharing a verbatim letter I wrote to the company. No reply, even a year later: Hi, My kids and I rode your False Creek Ferry yesterday. We showed up at Science World and wanted to go to the Aquatic Centre (one round way trip for one adult and two kids). I wanted to share with you a few points. - the ferry driver gave us a lower rate quote when we boarded and then raised it when we had already departed so we had no choice but to pay it; - the ferry driver offered us a deal as we departed, but then went on to say he could not do a deal (do you offer "deals" for this route? If so where can I find them? They are not on your website or pamphlet); - Because our trip exceeded "two zones" we were booked for a full day rate/Day Pass rate of $40 for one adult and two kids. This is about double the rate for a land taxi ride from Science World to English bay. This is price gouging; - It would be easy to add in step pricing for the route we took, as opposed to just bumping it to the day rate. A ride from Science World to the Aquatic centre and back is not nearly equivalent to the gas/overhead for all day rides around False Creek. This, too, is price gouging; - your rate system seems intentionally confusing and misleading for your passengers. I spoke to a second employee at the dock after our trip. He was not able to tell me where zones begin and end and even told me himself that the system is "very confusing." Since a "one zone" or "two zone" trip is part of your ticket pricing, it seems the "zones" should be clearly marked on your pamplets or maps. It is not, so how would I know what ticket to buy in advance? This, too, is price gouging, since people do not know what tickets to pay for; - In addition to this I cannot find a single rate for the trip I took from Science World to the Aquatic Center on any of your online maps, sites or pamphlets (it does not even make the general point that more than a two-zone trip gets bumped to the day rate -- from what I can tell from conversations with drivers this is your pricing policy). Your employee could not point me to one either. Leaving pricing information unprinted/hidden is violation of every consumer ethics norm we have (imagine a supermarket where employees had to give verbal information for every item for sale -- it opens the door wide to pricing discrimination); - We also were told by our first ferry driver that our kids did not have to wear masks (even though the adult had one). On the return trip the driver forced the kids to buy a mask. It is profiteering to charge kids for a health and safety item, when every other store in the city offers free masks -- would you charge kids for a life vest, another health/safety item? Then you shouldn't charge for masks, but should just give them out when required. Our drivers were friendly and the trips were lovely. Just adding that to round out our experience. In my next life, I want to be this ferry driver! We hopped on at Granville Island after checking out the Market and asked the gal to take us as far as she could go, haha! We took a relaxing ride on a beautiful day to Kitsilano and then backtracked to Yaletown where we hopped off and walked back to Coal Harbour. The passengers were friendly and the blue water views were relaxing. We were leaving Vancouver the next day and we could not say we did not ride the water! The view of the beach and the bridges, pretty cool. I had rode this once before a few years ago but for me, it never gets old. It cost us $9.50 each for the ride and we gave a little tip. Cute way to cross the "creek" and get from point A to other points of interest up and down False Creek. Granville Island is the big attraction that draws a lot of people, mainly for the public market of amazing bounty. For $15 you get a day pass for unlimited rides between some of the most beautiful and must-see areas in Vancouver: Granville Island, Yale Town, The Village/Science World, David Lam Park, Sunset Beach, among others. Tip: Maximum free parking time allowed in Granville Island is 3 hours and they do ticket or tow. If you plan to spend the entire day, use the paid parking lot. You do not need a ferry ticket in advance, but simply purchase the ticket or day pass from the driver. All of them we've encountered we're professional, courteous and friendly. They gave us good tips on where to go and information of ferry schedules, which sometimes can be flexible. If you happen to be there on a beautiful day, you'll certainly have a wonderful time hopping around some of Vancouver's favorite attractions, strolling along the beautiful shoreline, dining in some of the best restaurants, or just simply enjoying a boat ride. The boats are rather small with a maximum capacity of 12 people, so on a busy day you might not always be able to get on the next boat. However, they do run a pretty frequent schedule. I'll certainly do this again in the future, and I recommend this to everyone visiting Vancouver for the first time. read more

Generally $5 for return trip or $8 return if it's 2 zones distance between your destination and return point . The boats generally fit 10 passengers per trip . They have a few bigger open boats that fit more passengers too. So handy for getting. Between Granville island , Kits beach , English Bay , Yaletown or Science world areas. Way less stressful than the bus or land taxi. And the view is awesome c'mon it is Vancouver harbour and False creek . It's glorious . They're very handy if you don't happen to have a bike for getting around this area by land, and also because bus service is pretty sparse around the Creek, sad to say. I took a ride near sunset, and it was short and sweet. I was reminded again of what a lovely waterfront we have here in Vancouver and of the marine nature of our city. In short, the view from the ferry can refresh a landlubber's whole outlook. It's probably a little on the tourist-y side, but not just for tourists. read more

Loved these Little ferry boats which are actually water taxis that take you out to Granville island or kips Bay. They're covered and will get you out of the rain and probably have seating for about 12 people. Return fare to Granville island 8 bucks for two people. While walking around Granville Island, we read about this ferry service and decided to do a 40 minute tour of False Creek. Cost was $11/person. We boarded at the dock and off we went. The ferries are small boats that ply the Creek with several stops along the way. It's akin to a hop on, hop off bus...just on water. Our "captain" was amicable enough and explained sites along the way...,from Granville Island...all the way down past BCE Place to the Olympic Village and back again. We also saw seals in the creek...so it was interesting to see them actually swimming as opposed to lounging on rocks or a beach. I have previously taken the Blue Line (and back) between the Aquatic Centre/Sunset Beach (West End) to Granville Island. I love fairies! I also love sailors and seamen! Oh wait.... ummm... I get sea sick. I get REAL sea sick. Lucky for me these ferry rides are so short and swift that I don't need to take gravol when I go on them. And hells yea, this is so much faster than taking the bus over the Burrard Bridge, or Granville Bridge or any Bridge for that matter. You can hang out on the dock like a troll (under the Burrard bridge) cuz the ferries run every five or ten minutes and it only costs like a buck seventy five for a one way ride. I usually catch the last ferry - which is at 9pm, and then worry about how I'm getting home later, you know, after I've spent all my money on booze. It makes my night feel more like an adventure that way. How am I gettin home tonight?! Nobody knows! I usually only take the ferry to Granville Island, cuz that's where all the cool art-fags hang out, and there's always lots of good food there during the day if you go to the market. Mini sight seeing tour - disappointing - no narration This ferry service is a fun and affordable way to get to Granville Island, Vanier Park etc but for scenic mini cruises, I'm not too sure based on our experience. Note, this review is for the mini sight seeing cruise only. We had an overseas guest visit Vancouver this weekend and thought this would be a great activity to do. We were sorely disappointed. We got on board and paid $8 each for a return trip from Granville Island for 3 adults for what they were advertising on their website and flyer as a 25 minute mini cruise. There was absolutely no narration whatsoever and the Captain hardly spoke to us. When we got to Vanier Park he expected us to get off and we told him we paid for the tour. The website and flyer advertises it as a scenic sightseeing tour for $8 per return, but in fact it's just regular drop-offs at 3 stops! Note the regular fare is $3.50 each way but they charge $1 more for the "mini cruise". Sights include Sunset Beach, the North Shore mountains, the West End skyline, Vanier Park, and Heritage Harbour. But how would you know what you were looking at if you're a tourist? As locals we ended up pointing out the sights to our guest instead which was embarrassing since we paid for a guided tour. Our guest felt bad for us too. However, if you want a proper cruise, we recommend doing one of the 1 hour scenic harbour cruise tours where you will get full narration. Edited to add: Almost two years after making this review I take them again for a short trip and experience the exact same kind of service. Consistently terrible! To be more specific the people who drive these boats (especially around the summer) are like 50/50 retirees or students and the students are so rude. Same as last time, I am waiting for a different boat and one of the drivers is waiting for passengers and having an obnoxiously loud rant to one of her buds on the dock about a customer (her story was confusing because it sounded like she was in the wrong but???) so incredibly unprofessional and off-putting.
