Take a brief cruise on a ferry to get to your destination quickly, easily, and affordably! Or hang out leisurely on the ferry as you take a longer cruise :) Staff are fun and talkative. Possible destinations: Granville Island, Aquatic Centre, David Lam Park, Stamp's Landing, Spyglass Place, Yaletown, Plaza of Nations, The Village/Science World, and Martime Museum

Only the best way to get across the water in Vancouver! We loved hopping on the impossibly adorable tug and ferrying over to Granville. It was a thrill to be on the smooth water and go pass the Granville bridge. On the ride back we went two extra stops because we loved it so much. They can get busy, so plan ahead! A boat was never more than 5 minutes away for us. We bought our tickets online and the crew were helpful and entertaining. Enjoy your ride and be sure to get a photo or two if you sit in the front or back.

False Creek Ferries is a hidden gem in Vancouver. You can travel from one beach to another and avoid the traffic. Their staff are very friendly and awesome. Victoria is so amazing. She patiently explained to us the places we can go to and visit using their ferry service. We would have gone back to the hotel, had she not told us to go visit Kitsilano beach and the Maritime museum. She was very helpful to the other tourists who were buying tickets just like us. Choi was awesome and helpful, too. We left a box of fruit on the ferry and he asked us if we wanted it back. Although, it was ok not to get it back, we found it very thoughful of him to ask. I highly recommend this business. Take the ferry and explore this inlet.

One line review: Fun way to see Vancouver. We live in Vancouver but had not had a chance to spend a day using these little ferries to explore. We finally did it yesterday, and it was wonderful. On a beautiful day, Vancouver is one of the most beautiful cities in the world, and riding out on the water, in the open air (in some cases) is a must-do. We purchased the day pass. Frankly, I didn't add up whether that was a good deal for us; we were on a date, and I just went for it. But we rode the length of their coverage, from the Vancouver Maritime Museum (near Kitsilano beach) all the way to Olympic Village. We walked around False Creek a ways, had some lunch in Yaletown, then picked up the ferry at the dock there and rode all the way back to the starting point. Ferries come fairly often -- about every 15 minutes or so. So you don't really have to keep track of a schedule; just show up at the dock and wait for the next one. Judging value on this service may depend on the person. It's not ultra cheap. But it's a fun experience that the whole family might enjoy, and as entertainment as well as transportation, I think it's worth it. Note: If you have a family member who is mobility challenged (say, they use a walker or a wheelchair). this might not work for you. I hear tell that there's an alternative ferry service that might work out better for that, but I've not reviewed it yet. You can see my photos in the photo section; the way I uploaded them, they don't appear with this review. :-( But trust me: On a sunny day, the views and overall experience are gorgeous. Bottom line: I would gladly do this again.

Fun way to get from point to point on the water. Not cheap, but reasonable. Perfect for a sunny day.

There are two main ferry companies you can use to get to Grandville Island. I received a nice map from my hotel concierge and walked a brisk 5 minutes to to the Nations Plaza stop. There was signage for the ferries throughout my walk and when I arrived at the dock I waited 5 minutes before the False Creek Ferry arrived. I'm an early bird so I lucked out and had the ferry to myself for the entire ride. A round trip fare was $12.50 and bonus points because they take credit cards on the ride. If you're in Vancouver and have even an hour to spare I definitely recommend taking a ride with False Creek Ferries.

Such a neat little service. Well priced with very friendly "drivers". Gets you exactly where you need to go. Easy to pay via card too. Attached a few photos I took of the boats and of the dock at Granville Island!

We had a wonderful day in Vancouver. False Creek Ferries was well worth the family day pass to get around different areas of the city. False creek serviced the science museum, David Lam park, the Village, the plaza, Granville Island, two beaches, and the Maritime museum. I would recommend as a way to get to these areas, we hit them all in one day! The drivers were also amazing and highly skilled at docking to load/unload passengers.

Visiting Granville Public Market via ferry was high on our agenda on this long holiday weekend. Expecting big crowds and difficulty finding parking spot for our rental car, we decided to walk from our hotel to the Aquatic Museum stop (1 1/2 miles). Ticket purchase was easy on the spot. The ferry service was very efficient. Watching the captain dexterously doing his one-person routine of helping passengers embark/disembark from the little boat and driving the ferry was devastating . The short ferry ride, with the city skyline as backdrop, was perfect, and the highlight of our visit to the Granville Island.

Water taxi is a things to do in Vancouver. I think taking a bus is cheaper but such a fun way to see the city. I took this water taxi from the science world to get to the Granville Island. Discount if you purchase round trip ticket. Cash only and purchase your ticket on board. I saw a ticket office if you start your journey from the Granville Island and I think they may accept credit card. On a clear day, view from the boat is very nice and fun way to enjoy the beautiful downtown Vancouver

In my next life, I want to be this ferry driver! We hopped on at Granville Island after checking out the Market and asked the gal to take us as far as she could go, haha! We took a relaxing ride on a beautiful day to Kitsilano and then backtracked to Yaletown where we hopped off and walked back to Coal Harbour. The passengers were friendly and the blue water views were relaxing. We were leaving Vancouver the next day and we could not say we did not ride the water! The view of the beach and the bridges, pretty cool. I had rode this once before a few years ago but for me, it never gets old. It cost us $9.50 each for the ride and we gave a little tip. Not sure if we are supposed to necessarily but it was accepted.

These little passenger ferry boats are a must-do when visiting or living in the West End of Vancouver. Cute way to cross the "creek" and get from point A to other points of interest up and down False Creek. Granville Island is the big attraction that draws a lot of people, mainly for the public market of amazing bounty. Return trips are cheaper than two one way fares, and you can buy tickets in bulk if you're a regular commuter. Always fun to do. Boats come often so you won't wait for long.

If you ever visit the Vancouver area, this is probably the best value you'll get out of $15. For $15 you get a day pass for unlimited rides between some of the most beautiful and must-see areas in Vancouver: Granville Island, Yale Town, The Village/Science World, David Lam Park, Sunset Beach, among others. Tip: Maximum free parking time allowed in Granville Island is 3 hours and they do ticket or tow. If you plan to spend the entire day, use the paid parking lot. You do not need a ferry ticket in advance, but simply purchase the ticket or day pass from the driver. All of them we've encountered we're professional, courteous and friendly. They gave us good tips on where to go and information of ferry schedules, which sometimes can be flexible. If you happen to be there on a beautiful day, you'll certainly have a wonderful time hopping around some of Vancouver's favorite attractions, strolling along the beautiful shoreline, dining in some of the best restaurants, or just simply enjoying a boat ride. The boats are rather small with a maximum capacity of 12 people, so on a busy day you might not always be able to get on the next boat. However, they do run a pretty frequent schedule. I'll certainly do this again in the future, and I recommend this to everyone visiting Vancouver for the first time.

We bought our tickets at the Capital City Station on Douglas Street in Victoria, and Sandy was absolutely wonderful, friendly, helpful, and patient. She even got us seats for October 13, 2025, which was Thanksgiving. Every company needs a Sandy, she deserves 5 stars for her service. Once we boarded the bus, things went downhill. Our driver, James wasn't very approachable. His responses were short, and he came across as a bit grouchy. It was a holiday, so we understand, but as first-time passengers, we found his instructions unclear and he seems to not welcome questions. When the ferry docked at Tsawwassen, we didn't hear it was time to reboard the bus to continue to downtown Vancouver. We missed the announcement and ended up being left behind, but our checked bags and personal items were still in the bus to Vancouver. Thankfully, the staff at Tsawwassen terminal were great. They guided us, called ahead to Pacific Station BC Ferries, and made sure we could retrieve our bags. When we finally reunited with the bus, James didn't seem particularly concerned or empathetic, which made an already stressful situation feel worse. We blame ourselves for missing the bus. But for future improvements, clearer announcements and louder overhead speakers would help first-time travelers. Even a quick name call for missing passengers would go a long way.

The Vancouver terminal is easy to find right behind Canada Place, just past The Drop the large blue art sculpture. The onboard experience is incredibly comfortable, which makes the roughly one-hour sailing fly by. The ride itself is fast but smooth, though it is worth noting that sitting backwards against the direction of travel might make you feel a little queasy, even if it is tolerable. For convenience, there are luggage racks located right by the entrance doors. The seating layout features a table for every four seats, making it easy to share space, and there are handy charging ports located at the side of each table. The vessel is also equipped with washrooms and a cafe bar for coffee and light snacks, and safety is well-covered with life vests stored right under every seat. Once you arrive, the trip stays seamless thanks to a free shuttle service that picks you up at the Nanaimo terminal and takes you straight into Downtown Nanaimo. It is a fantastic, hassle-free crossing that I highly recommend.

You can certainly get a plethora of printed media from your hotel about the city. But I suggest you…read morepay a visit when you arrive in Vancouver anyway. Because what you don't get is the first hand knowledge, short cuts, tips and local tidbits that the enthusiastic staff here will impart. Kudos to Vancouver for attracting what seems to be volunteer retirees who love their city and want to make sure that you love it too and will get the most out of your visit here too. I spoke to two volunteers here, and another while we took a ferry ride, who went on the False Creek Ferry tour with her husband so she could talk intelligently about it. It appears that the staff on their days off take the time to go to the site and attractions the Centre recommends. They are honest in their opinions about places and are good at reading your needs too. On the day I stopped by and praised the natural beauty of the city, the volunteer recommended Lighthouse Park to me, after I informed her that wanted to explore places outside central Vancouver area. She was a gem, the park was a delight, and her advice about going early to avoid the traffic on Lion's Gate, because of a lane closure, is the kind of tip you can really only get from a local. I loved the fact that when I asked her a question she didn't know, she asked another person who did know. Teamwork and passion and common sense. Wow! The Centre is clean(that word is synonymous with Vancouver I am finding), spacious, and well stocked with all sorts of printed cards and brochures from various places and vendors. Look for the places you want to visit to see if they offer discounts. Get the brochure/map on Stanley Park as it is colorful and well done. It was so pretty I brought it home so I could gaze out it while dreaming about my next trip. The large city map the tourism board prints out is good too, if your hotel already doesn't have that one. Get also the cheat sheet on attractions the Centre prints out. That tells you what bus, train to take, and if it is a two fare zone etc. (My only tip now would be for LIghthouse Park, that they add the actual stop to get off! Also, the only bus that goes to Marine Drive I was told by a local runs only 3x Sundays!). It's a plain Xerox sheet, nothing fancy, chock full of useful information. I was already used to Vancouver's fairly easy mass transit system but if you are not a savvy, that is truly helpful. I thought it was terrific even though I had plotted most of my routes. This is one of the best tourism offices I've visited in terms of friendliness of staff, the quantity and quality of information from the staff. The only strange thing seems to be a lack of public bathroom but I was directed to the food court just next door! Just a note: If anyone from the tourist board reads this, I understand the Giant Os Gemeos might be in trouble. Why not have a satellite stand on Granville Island just asking for $1 from every visitor? Or ask randomly the visitors who come through YVR? Just one dollar? Or have the city host an Os Gemeo BBQ, with tickets going to support their maintenance?
