Waterfront station is like Vancouver's Grand Central Station. It's got an Old World Charm to it. If you take a second to appreciate the details of the architecture and décor it reminds me of when there was only Black and White t.v and you can get a handful of candy for a nickel. It was built in 1910. You can catch the Sky Train, West Coast Express, Canada Line and Seabus here. If you're coming from the Airport and staying in Downtown just take the Canada Line all the way to the end which is here. Waterfront station. It's central to everything in Downtown. Gastown, Canada Place, Stanley Park. Shopping and food. Mel M Yelp 18:13

    Waterfront Station in downtown Vancouver

One terminus for the Canada Line, the SkyTrain light rail that extends from downtown Vancouver south to two branches - one at Richmond/Brighouse and the other at the Vancouver airport. The Expo line (which I did not use during my time in Vancouver) also ends here and continues out to Burnaby. I found the signage to be clear and easy to follow. The station is underground with a lift, stairs and escalator between street level and the ticketing concourse and the train platforms. It is an island platform with the trains on the outside. Very little seating here, which seems to be the usual for Vancouver's train system. There are overheard boards noting the departure of the next train and the destination (Airport or Richmond). There's also an overheard announcement. It's clear that they get quite a bit of traffic through here as there are barriers set up to direct people to the ticket vending machines and others to help folks bypass that crowd if they already have tickets or passes. Nice.

This skytrain has many different exits and entrances. As well, the skytrain is connected to the waterfront center which has stores and restaurants at that mall. As well if you exit from the main lobby, there is the restaurant Rogue. This is also a terminal station to transfer to seabus or the West Coast express train, or to the Canada Line. One of the busier stations.

They've renovated the station in recent years to include more escalators, which drastically improves the pedestrian flow. However, the really not-so-good part is that they didn't reconnect the sky bridge that used to link the station with Metropolis. Heard it was some dispute between the City and the owners of Metropolis. Now everyone is forced to cross Central at street level, which makes life a lot more difficult. Knock 1 star off.

There was a pretty good rebuild between 2015 and 2018 that improved capacity and the flow of passengers due to the shopping centers and multi-story living buildings that were added to the neighborhood. According to metrics, it is the second most busy terminal on the entire SkyTrain network. The station is handicapped accessible with lift and escalators. There is also a pedestrian bridge across the road that leads to the bus terminal and shopping. The neatest feature of this station is the really long triple escalator tunnel. Always trippy to look at when riding the escalators. Just try not to fall over backwards. There are several exits available, but the main exit branches (specifically Granville/Seymore vs. Dunsmuir) are only connected at the platform level. In other words, make sure you know which exit you are aiming for before taking any escalators. Not the end of the world if you end up going out the wrong one, but something to keep in mind. The strange part of this station is that they never bothered linking it underground to the Vancouver Centre (Canada line) station which is a few blocks away. Guessing it was a budget/cost issue during construction.

The station exit has an entrance to The Bay and Pacific Centre. If you need to change to the Canada Line, there are signs guiding you to Vancouver City Centre Station. If you exit into the street, it puts you on Granville Street. I found it easier to exit from this station, but a bit confusing to find the entrance to it since you are going through many underground passageways. If you need to change between SkyTrain lines, it is probably easier to just change at Waterfront Station. But if you have a good sense of direction than changing stations here is fine.

A certain chunk of it may actually be closer to Main/Science World station, which is the next station E of this one. The station is originally built with 3 platforms, but currently only 2 are used. Apparently the 3rd platform was built mainly for a shuttle service for Expo '86. One thing that's nice is that there is now decent cell phone reception inside the tunnels going into downtown. Still remember a few years back (2010s and earlier) when the entire tunnel system was a giant dead spot. For wheelchair accessibility, there are a series of elevators and ramps available at the W (Beatty) and NE (Keefer) entrances, but not at the S (Expo) entrance. Oh yeah, this station becomes a complete war zone whenever there's a concert or hockey game at either stadium. Double whammy if both have an event on the same day.
