There are automated ticket vending machines and turnstiles as well as escalators and an elevator from the street level to the train platform level. The station is in Zone 2. It is the next-to-last stop on the Richmond-Brighouse fork of the Canada Line. The next inbound station is Aberdeen towards waterfront. There are display screens noting the next arrival and an overhead announcement too. I would imagine that it gets quite cold on that platform in the winter, but my visit in summertime was just fine.

Vancouver should really celebrate their transportation/urban planners. They had already implemented their Tap and Pay system years before our region decided to do it. Vancouver also has fare gates at their stations whereas our region doesn't have any fare gates except for the Seattle Center Monorail. The Vancouver City Centre Station was pretty clean. We didn't encounter any smelly people, tweakers, or sleepers on the Canada Line.

I decided to try it out on my way back to the airport and I'm so glad I did. It was as easy as scanning my credit card at the gate, getting on the correct train. The platform is quite dated and can use a renovation besides the shiny new signs. Large parts of the metal latticework are dirty and rusty. The view of Lulu Island is actually worth checking out from the platform, as this station is located high up on a hill. This station has a bus loop attached. Very useful for getting to the heart of Richmond directly, instead of having to go all the way back to downtown Vancouver.

It is named after the nearby shopping mall, Aberdeen Centre. The location of this station is convenient as it convenient to numerous Asian shopping malls in the area. In addition to the aforementioned Aberdeen Centre, it is within walking distance of Yaohan Centre, President Plaza and Parker Place. If you are looking for good Chinese food, you will find plenty of it in the vicinity of this station. On my last trip to Richmond, I ended up using this station the most. The hotel (Pacific Gateway) in Richmond I was staying at had an airport shuttle, but didn't have one for Richmond. So I ended up walking to and from here quite often when I wanted to head north to Vancouver. While I would have liked this station to have been closer, it was still within reasonable walking distance and it was only about a 20 minute walk. The waiting times at this station are a bit longer than at the previous station (Bridgeport) because the southbound Canada Line splits off with one part headed to this station, while the other one is YVR bound. Still the waiting time during the daytime is 6 minutes at the most which seems reasonable. If you need to get to and from Richmond's Golden Village from downtown Vancouver, I would recommend taking a SkyTrain to this station as it is convenient and has frequent train service.
