This is the Costco or should I say Chinatown stop. Or Rogers Arena. Yes its located right in front of Rogers Arena. People who come for concert usually don't take their car with them and this skytrain then becomes super busy. there are homeless people sitting at the front entrance at the skytrain. Also the lost and found is located inside this station. I don't know how to lost and found station works now since its inside the compass gates. So I guess you have to pay to go into lost and found. If you lost your compass card then too bad, I guess

For a transit system for a metro area with between 2 and 3 million people, Translink may have its faults and everyone has their bad experiences. I had one as well. I will describe it later. However, since I gave Sky Train 4 stars, I will give the system that includes it, and then some, 5 stars. In terms of rail service, Sky Train has 3 lines (Expo, Millennium, and Canada). Good or bad, the rolling stock is different for each line and one can just look at a train and know which line it belongs to. All three lines converge on the peninsular downtown. The main stations appear to be Waterfront, Burrard, City Center, and Yaletown. These lines go out a fair ways to the most populated suburbs, such as Surrey, Burnaby, and Richmond, not to mention the YVR airport. Then, there's the West Coast Express, departing from Waterfront and servicing the nicer suburbs east along the Burrard Inlet using bi-level trains. The buses go everywhere. There is also a network of night (#-N) buses, which run less frequently but ply major routes such as Kingsway late at night. The availability of such buses has allowed me to stay in the suburbs and return to the hotel at later hours. Sure, there will be sketchy people on buses, especially at odd hours, but the Lexus crowd won't be on a bus. Kudos to lines like the 99, which runs along Broadway to UBC, and the 50, which runs east and west of Granville Island, and do so frequently. On a jam packed bus at night just recently, the driver remained incredibly patient and people were helping an elderly man negotiate the entry onto the bus and through the aisle until he got a seat. Lastly, there is SeaBus. What an exotic creature to have as part of a transit system. It links downtown Vancouver, from its Waterfront station next to Canada Place, to North Vancouver, at Lonsdale Quay. The North Shore also has buses in the 200 number series which criss-cross those suburbs and some of which cross the bridges to come into Vancouver. This last time in YVR, I just got a day pass for $9.75. Knock yourself out - trains, buses, and SeaBus. And, at about midnight, one angry and/or inebriated guy tried to pick a fight at the Yaletown station, and I just moved elsewhere on the platform. That could have happened anywhere. Actually, most of the midnight crowd at the Yaletown station looked pretty damn normal to be riding a subway at around midnight. The way the system is configured is impressive. Vancouver, you're lucky.

People always complain about the bus. I refuse. It's the bus, and the bus system in Vancouver is the friendliest of any city I've known (and I've lived in Ottawa, the US, Ireland, Scotland, Greece and Japan). The B-Line busses are so frequent and convenient. Sure they get packed, but isn't that a sign of their success? I've never had trouble getting anywhere in the city using the bus system. There's even night busses that you can catch home after a night out on Granville Street, which is often faster than taking a cab (good luck flagging one once the bars get out). They've also gone high tech. You can text and find out when the next bus is coming to your stop. Their website has a great trip-planner that allows you to choose which way you can get around from multiple route choices and gives accurate trip times. The drivers are really nice. They always take time to help people with wheelchairs get parked safely. Drivers greet you as you get on the bus and lately I've even noticed a lot of young, fairly handsome men behind the wheel. A ride costs $2.50 within the city (for the bus, not the handsome drivers ... get your mind out of the gutter) and you don't have to worry about parking, traffic, or having a few glasses of wine!

There was a pretty good rebuild between 2015 and 2018 that improved capacity and the flow of passengers due to the shopping centers and multi-story living buildings that were added to the neighborhood. According to metrics, it is the second most busy terminal on the entire SkyTrain network. The station is handicapped accessible with lift and escalators. There is also a pedestrian bridge across the road that leads to the bus terminal and shopping. The neatest feature of this station is the really long triple escalator tunnel. Always trippy to look at when riding the escalators. Just try not to fall over backwards. There are several exits available, but the main exit branches (specifically Granville/Seymore vs. Dunsmuir) are only connected at the platform level. In other words, make sure you know which exit you are aiming for before taking any escalators. Not the end of the world if you end up going out the wrong one, but something to keep in mind. The strange part of this station is that they never bothered linking it underground to the Vancouver Centre (Canada line) station which is a few blocks away. Guessing it was a budget/cost issue during construction.

The station exit has an entrance to The Bay and Pacific Centre. If you need to change to the Canada Line, there are signs guiding you to Vancouver City Centre Station. If you exit into the street, it puts you on Granville Street. I found it easier to exit from this station, but a bit confusing to find the entrance to it since you are going through many underground passageways. If you need to change between SkyTrain lines, it is probably easier to just change at Waterfront Station. But if you have a good sense of direction than changing stations here is fine.

The booking process is easy, the manager Howie is responsive and easy to work with. The drivers are always on time and courteous. On our most recent trip, there was a terrible accident on highway 99 which delayed us 7 hrs! We had multiple families traveling on together in a large van, half children under the age of 8. The kids were going stir crazy and so were the parents. The person that was not frazzled at all was our driver Johan. He was with us the whole way, taking us to dinner in Squamish, driving us around town looking for a place to entertain the kids and wait for the roads to reopen. We ended up having to hang out at a Walmart for several hours. By the time we got to Whistler was about midnight, on a 5p planned arrival. Johan never stopped being courteous, kind, and friendly.
