It was a wonderful place to wonder through. The vintage items were amazing and they have a vast array of lighting products. There were two people I 'd like to recognize. One was Robert who was at the order desk, he helped me find the area were my vintage lamped could be serviced. He instructed me where to go and when I went in the wrong direction he led me to the correct area. Also the gentleman who actually fixed my lamp. He was working on some project but he set it aside to examine my lamp. In 5 minutes he had it fixed. My fear was that he was going to say that it was unfixable. This place is as eclectic as they come. You have to check out the fresh self serve popcorn giant slot machine and just all the knickknacks. But, if you need something for home lighting from indoor to outdoor fixtures, this is the place for you. We remodeled our home from top to bottom and bought all of our lighting supplies here. Two of the lights we bought used and came with twenty or so small halogen lights. They got extremely hot but looked beautiful. When I stopped back to pick up a piece that we had to order, the salesperson told me I could replace them with LED bulbs that don't get hot. I switched them out and now they're perfect. BBC also stocked these LED bulbs as well as just about any bulb you can think of. The sales people are very knowledgeable and great to work with. The prices were the best I could find anywhere. So before you buy any lighting fixtures, I suggest you stop here. Lastly, don't forget to pick up a free yardstick. read more

This may be the most reputable, honest and caring vendor I have ever had the pleasure to work with! Although I have used them for lighting and fan products for years - my latest experience was totally memorable. We were in the market for a REPLACEMENT fan in our bedroom and 2 pendent lights in our kitchen. Tammy assisted us for about an 1 1/2 hours, answered all our questions and in particular offered her advice without judgement or how it would have affected the sale. After purchasing the fan and 2 pendent lights we asked if they had a recommendation for an electrician - BBC offered a list of vetted electricians and we arranged for Bogey Electric to do the install. As I mentioned the fan was a replacement to one that supposedly no longer worked and another electrician could not fix. But when Rob and Denise from Bogey Electric arrived they said they could fix the existing fan instead of installing the new fan. This saved us about $350 and I returned the fan to BBC for a full refund and explained to BBC that the electrician they recommended cost them a sale. The BBC staffed laughed at the irony but they and I knew that this was the best customer service a firm could provide. I will never go anywhere else for fan or lighting equipment! read more

I've been on a few different occasions in search of period appropriate lighting for my circa 1915 home. They've come through for me each time. My last visit there, I was on the hunt for a billiard light. I couldn't find precisely what I was looking for but fortunately, help was readily offered. They were able to show me some options they had in the store and then directed me to catalogs where I could peruse options that they would happily order for me. What service! Beyond all the lighting options, they have some pretty quirky and unique vintage items. Oh...and free bags of popcorn while you peruse. BBC Lighting will not only go down as Milwaukee's greatest lighting store - it should seriously be on a tourist landmark and top 100 must see in MKE. While my most recent home project includes a multitude of fixtures from the good people of BBC - I've actually spent more time in the past wandering the endless aisles of questionable antiques, admiring the miles of wire and wondering just how safe the entangled mess of cords a few feet above my head really are. Please help yourself to the free popcorn as you walk in the door and 50 cent soda to add to the overall experience. Purchasing fixtures here was a breeze and there is plenty of sales staff around to greet you and assist if needed. Pricing is very affordable and selection is unreal. Is customer service too much to ask for? While there to pick up a $2500 light, I added on a $300 bathroom fixture. The people shopping right next to me asked for and got 10% discount so I asked for the same. The sales lady, Beth, didn't respond to my request ad went on to charge me full price. That $30 didn't stop me from buying today, but I won't be buying there again in the future. Beth said she could not give a discount and made no effort to make it happen for me. Considering there are signs posted throughout the store that say visit out website for a discount, I'm sure she could have done something. Very disappointing, poor customer service. read more

This is your go-to place in MKE for limited supply or hard to find lamps; hands down, no other lamp/lighting/fixture store (including/especially the big box stores like Home Depot and Lowes) I've been to has the same inventory that BBC carries. Need help or advice? Again, there's no place like BBC. Everyone who works there is patient, informed/knowledgeable and anxious to share their expertise and advice with customers. Sometimes parking can be tough; there's not a lot of parking on the street (St. Paul) and there aren't that many places to park on the lot, which basically services a dock area, so be prepared to walk a bit when you decide to go. read more

Everything about the lighting selection was fantastic, this is where you want to go if you want diversity in lighting options. But our experience with the salesperson was horrible. We spent more than $2000 for the material that WE wanted. But we were novices at this, so we expected an experienced salesperson to help us through the process; asking questions, offering information, giving suggestions, etc. She offered nothing, except bringing us to the cash register to ring up the sale. Secondly, the whole experience is fun here, with the popcorn and the wacky statues and the 'million dollar bills' they give you. Everyone we've talked to has been friendly and efficient. And most importantly, the selection is really good, and at nice prices. I like it better than say, home depot. More choices and more variety. Then he told us he's not a salesman and got a sales person to "help us"... She did nothing. We had to prompt her for everything. Very strange. Seemed like everyone else there was friendly, chatty, helpful... Except her. Of course we got the dud. BBC Lighting has a very good selection but their staff is fantastic. They showed me everything they had in the style I needed, even unwrapped an item just so I could see it. They also helped me match something I found online. No wandering around here looking for someone to help you. They are so friendly and patient they'll consult with you and not pressure you to make a choice. The store is full of fun surprises that make you want to keep exploring the aisles. This store is a "must visit" to get ideas for lighting projects. I needed complementing drum and pendant lights for a remodeled kitchen/dining room space that ties in with an existing living room. I shopped here years ago when we did a foyer-bed-bath addition and I'm glad they've remained a reliable source for quality lighting in Milwaukee. read more

BBC failed to provide 2 lights upon pickup. Called when this error was realized and was told that no we had picked up everything and that the manager would not "negotiate" with us as if we were lying and trying to get free product. The sales rep and manager clearly thought this was somehow out fault and we needed to try to negotiate for product we had already paid $700 for. Of course, it turns out the product was still in their warehouse. In addition, one of the lights they actually did provide us on time was the wrong finish, even though the sales rep tried to convince us that brass can look similar to polished nickel . Thankfully once we pick up the corrected order in 3-4 weeks we can be done with BBC for good and never return. read more

I can't believe I never knew about BBC Lighting until a few months ago. No freaking way I will ever buy lights from Menards or Home Depot again. Prices are definitely comparable to big box stores but are more unique and better quality. I also liked that the store had a lot of character. They provide free popcorn and have all sorts of fun memorabilia throughout the showroom. Sales people are walking around to help and when you find fixtures you want talk to them - don't just grab the box like I tried to do lol. Ps check their website for a coupon! read more

Any kind of lighting you can imagine, plus their unique vintage slot machines, fire trick barber chairs, vintage stationary rides for kids!!! You have to see it to believe it! But most importantly the service we received from Michelle was amazing! She helped us & looked for "out of the ordinary" lighting, gave us great suggestions & was extremely knowledgeable! She helped us for about an hour and a half & followed through with the sale to the end; even helping us bring our purchases out to the vehicle!!! We would highly recommend Michelle & BBC Lighting!!! These guys are seriously great. The store is full of amazing lighting options if you want to stand apart from everyone else who buys from big box retailers. We purchased a beautiful chandelier and foyer lamp from BBC and I could not possibly be any happier. Two excellent choices for light fixtures are near each other, so convenient. This is the more affordable of the two, the other place is high end custom stuff, mostly out of my price range. Instead of wasting your time at Menards, Home Depot, or Lowe's, try this place if you want lamps or light fixtures for your home or office. This place has a much better selection of affordable lighting interior and exterior than the big box DIY stores, and the sales help is friendly, patient and helpful. They also have an odd eccentric collection of other stuff for sale here, so shopping is entertaining as well. I've purchased a hall chandelier, and hanging bathroom light, we're planning on coming back for exterior front walkway lamps later. read more

This place is really cool, but I cannot emphasize enough that they mean buisness. You want a light- theyll make you find a light. Best prices in the city, but they sell ritzy stuff, so be prepared to fork over some dough. The salespeople walk all over the place with clipboards asking you repeatedly if you need help. It's great if you are looking to buy, but a little intimidating if you are just trying to look around and get a feel for things because you know nothing about lights. I'll take it over no help at all- that just annoys me. Steve was our very tall salesman who helped us find some great fixtures for our new apartment. He knew how to do buisness and helped us pick out some good pieces. After you are overwhelmed and leave spending hundreds upon hundreds of dollars, reward yourself with a good burger in the Menomenee Valley- Sobelmans or Oscars. read more

Be prepared to be completely overwhelmed when you walk into this place. It is crammed full with lighting options from the mundane to the sublime. I went on the recommendation of our contractor fully expecting that I would go home and order the sort of o.k. light I had found on Overstock. BBC's selection was amazing, and while you can spend thousands of $ on a chandelier if you want to, they also have some real bargains. I picked a Tiffany style pendant on clearance, took it home, and my contractor immediately said, "Too big." So I got to try out their 30 day return policy the next day. The return was easy, and I found a smaller piece that I like just as well for less money. Score! I hope I'll need more lights soon so I can go back here to shop! read more

Not the easiest place to park at, but you will find a side street parking space very close to the building. This place has very reasonable prices and a fantastic selection with a wide range of lighting options. Keep your eyes open and hunt down bargains when you can. For example, I was able to find several items marked "last one"...and the prices were reduced drastically. I picked up an awesome table lamp (that was comparable to the style and quality I would have found in a Restoration Hardware) to match my floor lamps for 39.00...normally about a 100.00. My biggest score there was to find under cabinet lighting for my kitchen. After hunting down Menards, Home Depot, and Lowes, I figured that I could have easily spend close to 300 dollars in hard wire lighting. Lo and behold, BBC carries LED strips. Something you only find in a specialty lighting store. Very cheap, super bright, easy to install, will last forever without changing a bulb, takes up almost no space, and better yet, saved a lot of money. My one caveat with shopping at this store is if you special order anything, there are no returns. But for the most part, what they have on hand is what you will be looking for to begin with. Great communication too. They get items relatively quick and they do call and let you know when they are in the store, which I appreciate as opposed to me calling them. Avoid Saturday rushes if possible. Can get super busy (but there are still a lot of sales staff on the floor). read more
