Was craving fried chicken so my nephew brought us to his fav korean fried chicken spot in Aiea (left of bowling alley). The name confused us since they don't offer bbq chicken... it's all fried (in olive oil) and it was delicious (choose your flavor). Made to order... so there is a wait. Enjoyed the Chicken Sandwich meal, half order of boneless fried chicken, and a cheese ddeok bokki. Seeing Terra on the drink menu was a nice bonus. I was pretty sad when I heard dirty lickins closed down but it's a little reassuring that another chicken place took its spot. It's located next to Aiea Bowl, with lots of parking throughout the shopping center. The chicken here is delicious! You can choose your size, sauce, and boneless or traditional wings. We tried the secret sauced, which was yummy and had the right amount of spice. The honey garlic was also great - it says it's not spicy but it was at almost the same spice level as the secret sauced. After a trip to the Aloha Swap Meet, a friend and I walked to BBQ for a late lunch. When we entered, there weren't any other guests, and there were 3 staff members in the front. We were greeted when we walked in, and given ample time to put in our orders. I opted for a half order of the Hot Wings, a side of rice, a side of pickled radish, and a fountain soda. As we waited for our orders, my friend and I sat in a booth, and watched the K-Pop videos playing on a nearby screen. Our food came out fairly quickly (given the number of to-go orders the team was preparing). The wings were fresh, crispy, and very flaky. They had a generous amount of sauce, and the spice level was just right for me. My only complaint is that the sides were quite small. For ~$25, a half order of wings and two sides feeds 2 comfortable (or provides you with 2 meals for 1). I hadn't noticed that there were extra plates and gloves for folks to grab/use until I was on my way out though. And I wish the napkins were in a place where customers would be able to grab them themselves. Overall, BBQ Aiea is a good franchise, and lives up to the BBQ Chicken I've had in other states! Food deserves 5 stars but I can't in good conscience give it the full 5 because of the service. Walked past this place on the way to The Alley to get a lemon crunch cake. Had heard about Korean F.C. so thought I'd give this place a try. The cashier told me it may take up to 30 minutes when it's busy so I expected a bit of a wait. Went to get my cake and came back in 5-7 minutes. Lots of people waiting for their food and lots of packages on the counter - figured must be phone orders. As I watched what was happening at the counter, I noticed that the cashier and another helper looked very confused. After about 15 minutes, a customer who had been waiting around about the same time as me went to ask about his order and turned out it was on the counter all along. I inquired about my order (using the number in the receipt) and sure enough it was on the counter. I don't mind waiting for the food to be prepared, but once it's ready shouldn't someone call out the numbers on the receipts so the customers can get their order? It might also help lessen the confusion if they separate phone orders from in-person orders. We will be back because the food is good ... I hope the customer service improves. First of all, if you come and order you have to wait for a while to get your order. (About 10-20 min) BUT worth it! When I ordered chicken sandwich with combo, I was told " take time to ready", so I asked about how long? and answer was about 10min or so. No problem. I was waiting with my combo drink. But over 10 min, still my order wasn't ready yet. I heard after they got order then they start to fry chicken, so that's why it took so long. But my chicken sandwich' chicken was fresh cook and it was very tender and juicy!!!! Compare to other fast food chicken sandwich, no way, this is the winnah!!!! You can't say that about most chicken joints. Once it's tossed in sauce, the wings must be consumed. It's probably twice fried in potato starch is my guess. Flour mixture cannot keep a wet wing crispy. No way, no how. Another no no with all Korean Chicken Joints is never order plain crispy chicken. Always have a sauce. All the flavor is in the sauce. Tteokbokki (rice tubes) with cheese was nice too. It's slightly spicy and balanced the chicken. It seemed a bit steep in price, but it comes in a big bowl. The order is enough to be a meal. They have meal plates with mandoo and rice, but call me a weirdo, but eating fried chicken with rice is gross. It just doesn't match. Shoyu chicken and rice, matches. But fried chicken and rice? No. Is this gonna beat Popeyes? Well not in price...but a National chain has a 1 up. Wings are pricey, but it's the best meal to share with friends and family and doesn't feel as heavy. I know both are fried, but Korean Fried Chicken I can keep eating, while Popeyes I gotta stop after 2 or 3 pieces. It all depends on your mood. Now it's on my list to try more of the flavors. I ordered the plate lunch that comes with rice and a choice of Coleslaw or Mac Salad. I ordered my plate with all rice this time however next time will try the coleslaw. It was a difficult decision picking a flavor but decided to start with the Special Sauce. I figured it has to be the house sauce which tells me more about the restaurant. This sauce is spicy and sweet and reminded me of a tteokbokki sauce. I love a good Tteokbokki! It comes all over the golden crispy chicken which, I think, is the standard. I ate 2 pieces of chicken before trying anything else. I love the sauce. My daughter had the same thing I did and her BF had the Soy Garlic wings. She also brought home her leftover fries covered in the Honey Garlic sauce which was so ono. I can imagine that if they had been fresh, it would have been even better. They were still crispy even cold. There is a slight spicy kick after you eat a few but it's not overwhelming. If you want tangy go with secret sauce. More sweet go with honey garlic. Just straight up crunchy juicy fried chicken, the original was great too. You can order half and full order of just chicken wings (bone in or boneless) or they even have plates if you just wanna grab a bit. I always eat Korean fried chicken with daikon and it is soooo yummy. The restaurant was very clean, simple but cute decor and the workers have always been pleasant. For $11.99 Mini Boneless you get 4 large pieces of chicken, rice & choice of mac salad or coleslaw. Now THAT'S a GOOD DEAL. I ordered honey garlic, and my wife ordered soy garlic. Both are amazing. Probably the place closest to this style and flavor is Good Chicken (more comparisons down below). The skin is deep fried for sure but not so overly oily, almost "delicate" in crispiness. Meat inside is juicy succulent. I loved both flavors but was happier with my choice - slightly sweet and savory. The soy garlic also super savory but with a slight spicy kick to it, very pleasing. Mini Boneless also quite filling! And for that price, practically a no-brainer. When ordering, thought about getting a bucket for takeout for later. After finishing, could NOT think about more food, so full. One advantage of Good Chicken is the confidence of being nut-free so that our son can have it. bb.q doesn't have any products with nuts, but there's a clear allergen disclaimer front and center relieving them of all liability, which is really a shame. But bb.q has clean sitdown dining, and you can watch (in our case) "Crash Landing on You" on one monitor, KPopusic music videos on the other. Staff super friendly and helpful. I had a party & someone brought this chicken. Instantly I was hooked! So I Decided to come visit & was not disappointed. They're located in aiea next to the bowling alley. Inside is nice & clean, modern looking, ac was on blast so it was cold haha. it is a little small so on a busy day u may not have a place to dine in & may have to decide on take out. Everything we ordered was really delicious! The ddeokbokki was the best I've ever had so far! & something about that secret sauce is so good. Sweet & tangy.
