This time, I got the vanilla villa smoothie and my friend got the pistachio matcha drink. They were both great! The vanilla villa was tasty, creamy, healthy and full of protein. Also ordered the pizza pastry and the chicken cheese pastry. They were very fresh, crispy and both really good. They continuously replenish with new pastries. I was there from around 11-1pm and saw them bring so many different ones out from the kitchen. There's a small restroom that's located downstairs. There's some seating in the cafe but not very spacious. It's a cute corner cafe, in the summer it looks like they have some chairs outside too. I would not hesitate to come back here again.

I've been trying to watch what I eat, so I only ordered the praline and hazelnut croissant, even though there were so many items I wanted to try. The croissant was amazing! It had a nice fluffy texture, and it was very sweet. Highly recommend! I also ordered the lotus latte. The latte was sweet, but not overly sweet. It had a biscoff like cookie layer on top which gave it a unique flavour. I enjoyed the drink, but I probably wouldn't get again. The service was quick, and the server was very helpful in helping me choose which drink I should select :) Definitely will be coming back to try more of the pastries!

The Origin is a bit sad these days. I was here last Saturday, taking in a flick at the Cineplex. This mall has seen better days. These major players are no longer at this mall: - South Street Burger with La Diperie - Me Va Me Express - Kiu Japanese Restaurant After the movie was over, I felt like a drink. Chatime is still around. However, there must have been fifteen people in the store, waiting for their drinks. I remembered this Lucullus bakery that was next door to the late South Street Burger. I had never been to this location in downtown Markham. I have been to the one on Yonge Street, south of Finch Avenue West. That store had beverages, so I'm sure that this one did, too. You enter and exit using the external doors. You cannot access the mall through this bakery. I opened the door. I was not expecting to walk into a time warp. It felt old-world European, in a period that I was unfamiliar with, but it felt like I knew it instantly being here. I loved the small tiffany lamps that were in front of the coffee area. So quaint! I hit the bakery section. I got a tray that oddly looked far more modern than the interior. I also got a pair of tongs. Just past 6 pm, I was expecting slim pickings with the baked goods offerings. Surprisingly, there were a number of croissants and buns available. My haul consisted of these items: - Curry beef puff - Tuna bao - Chocolate croissant - Luncheon meat bao - Corn and ham bao - Beef bao These six items barely fit on my wooden tray. I found the drinks. They were in the fridge. I got a chrysanthemum flower honey tea. I approached the counter. I got a helpful woman. She asked me if I needed a bag. I said yes. I hadn't expected to come here to get a bunch of baked goods and a drink. I'm glad that I did. I got a straw for my drink. I paid with a credit card. There was a 25-cent transaction charge when you use your debit or credit card here. It didn't bother me, as I rarely have cash on hand. I thanked her, took my bag of yumminess and my drink, and headed to the elevators to fetch my car in the underground lot. I'll start with the chrysanthemum flower honey tea. It's exceptionally Chinese. I grew up sipping it when I had a sore throat. I loved how it tasted. It had the perfect tea strength with a touch of honey. The downside was that the flower in this tea was a choking hazard when I sucked it through the straw. I ended up straining my drink at home to prevent myself from coughing up a lung again. I loved my baked goods haul. Everything was delicious. Thoughts about each one: - Curry beef puff - Flaky. It had the best curry beef filling. - Tuna bao - A lot of tuna filling. Tasty! - Chocolate croissant - It was divine with dark chocolate. It does have black sesame seeds on it. - Luncheon meat bao - Yummy. It would be better if it had egg paired with it. - Corn and ham bao - So good! It had a lot of corn balanced with the salty ham cubes, mixed with mayo. - Beef bao - It was delicious that I took a bite and didn't think about taking a photo of the bao in its intact glory. A definite bao winner. I'd return for more good eats. This store apparently has meals that I'd like to try. Despite how sad it was seeing a few businesses close down at this mall, I am thrilled that this bakery is kicking around. I'm glad that I finally visited it. I'll be back for more! (182)

What I found odd was the fact they didn't have any real coffee beverages available. They call themselves "Roasters" but the only thing they are roasting is drip coffee and Asian milk teas and teas. I love anything lychee, so this was a no brainer and it went well with the raspberry. It was however a bit on the sweeter side and I wasn't a huge fan of all the fondant. I prefer the Garden one, but would want to try out some of their other ice cream cakes too. I did find it odd that they charge for the chocolate plaque where the message was written...and they weren't able to make changes to it even though I called a few days in advance. I was told they already made them in advance so no changes could be made. Not sure why they didn't have the option of letting me pay for another plaque to be rewritten either since they just stuck it on the side of the cake so not like it would ruin the cake..?

A qualified 4 stars based on the fact that it's been some time since I last came to this location…read more.. Also, in relation to other locations of this chain. I'd say it's a lot like the Panera chain in general, except that there is a lot more variability between locations with Aroma Espresso. (Panera also offers a lot more as a bakery for takeaway breads and pastries but since I only do dine-in, neither here nor there in terms of my rating.) On the whole, AE is pricier than your average takeout coffee/food place, especially when you consider that, when it comes to food, it's a cafeteria style setup where you have to wait for your order and bring it to your table. The ingredients are fresh and the quality is pretty good, but it's a lot of money for a lunch option when you consider that it's that style of service. The portions are decent, at least. Having said that, I was a regular at this location for over about a 2 year period and I always loved my experience here. The location in the corner of the building afforded a large indoor area AND outdoor patio space as well. The selection of seats indoors ranged from basic tables and chairs to comfier booths, which always made it nicer for the extended stays on weekend afternoons when a friend and I would come in for a game of Scrabble. I never, ever won .. but I won't take that out on the venue :) Although I found the prices a bit on the premium end, I did appreciate that the staff were always efficient. I never got a rude or dismissive attitude and the condiments area was always well maintained. In spite of the fact that I had to pay extra for flavour shots, which I don't even really enjoy more than when you have the brewed flavour offerings at other places, I found the range of coffee condiments i.e. everything from skim to 18% milk, raw sugar, honey, etc., and the piece of chocolate, to be a fair offset. I also liked how they offer a range of takeout AND "to stay" size mugs, with saucers. Now when I go to any other Aroma Espresso location, this location is more or less the golden standard - I've never found any other of the locations I've hit, to be quite as good or better than this one.
