The cafe is a nice, large place that has both a casual and classic feel to it. It has pictures on the walls of old downtown Benecia. You order at the counter and the staff is cheerful and helpful. They have a wonderful selection of coffee drinks, both seasonal and non-seasonal. I got to try a few of them. The major standout to me was their Jalapeño mocha. I know it sounds crazy, but whatever they do here works beautifully. Its flavor profile has both spicy and sweet chocolate to it that I've never had in a mocha before. Also, the spice level is not bad. It's just a little kick of spice! I also tried their gingerbread latte and their butterbeer latte. The butterbeer is very sweet with a strong butterscotch flavor. I loved it! Their gingerbread latte was the perfect amount spices and sweetness as well. For food, I tried the breakfast burrito with the chili verde and their avocado toast. I know one of the owners would post pictures of herself in Europe before they established themselves on 1st street. When we were in Barcelona a couple of years ago there was a bakery that reminds me so much of this cafe. So that's why I think about Europe anytime I go here. I've never had a bad pizza here. My favorite pasty here is the Conchiglia. It's this buttery and flakey pastry that has this special Italian cream in it. It's the best thing there. You won't be disappointed. My Martinez friend mentioned that he wasn't aware this place even existed and that his kids went to school just a couple blocks away. They've been in business for 13 years, and she actually graduated from the same school that his kids went to. I ordered an Iced Pistachio Latte (not too sweet), while my friends ordered a hot drink (regular latte, I believe) and another iced drink. And yes, one can ask to customize the sweetness level to your preference. We also got a slice of Pistachio Nutella Coffee Cake and a Strawberry Coffee Cake.
