You can choose from various po'boy and gumbo options. We tried the smoked turkey and the chicken+sausage gumbo. The flavors were incredible! A small kick of spice but not too spicy (seasoned perfectly!) and both had a good meat to sauce ratio, all of which complimented the scoop of rice really well. The po'boy was tasty and came with a side of Cajun seasoned fries. We were lucky because there was street parking right outside and it wasn't busy. You all need to try this place!

I came by on a Monday to catch up with my boy Drew over lunch while in San Francisco. We met up and had a great time enjoying some good food together. The space was about half full with a mix of couples and a single guy, giving it a calm, easygoing atmosphere. The setup here is very casual: you order on a tablet, grab your own hot sauce, drinks and utensils, find a table, and they bring the food out to you when it's ready. Even with minimal service built into the model, the staff provided yummy food and kind service--they even came over to double-check that they had my order completely correct. Now that's real service! We both went with the Louisiana Lunch Special combo for $20, opting for the 1/2 shrimp po'boy (NOLA Style dressed), which added a $2 upcharge for the shrimp ($22 total), paired with the chicken and sausage gumbo. It's a great deal because you can mix and match from various po'boy and gumbo options, and it comes served with a side of Cajun seasoned fries. I also grabbed an Arizona Iced Tea for $3.50 to wash it all down. Note that the shrimp on the po'boy aren't fried--they're grilled. However, not having fried shrimp didn't take anything away from the sandwich at all; it was still good. The bread was soft and lightly toasted to give it just the right bit of texture. My only minor wish was that it could've used a little more remoulade. The gumbo, though, completely stole the show. The flavors hit and were seasoned perfectly. I'd seen a lot of reviews online claiming there was barely any chicken or sausage in theirs, but that definitely wasn't my experience. The chicken seemed to be shredded which turns every bite into a rich mouthful of everything. My serving was plentiful with protein in every bite. As far as pricing goes, it feels a little steep for the neighborhood, but it's pretty average for San Francisco as a whole. Getting here is easy enough; there's both metered and neighborhood street parking nearby if you drive, and the Muni light rail rolls right down 3rd Street if you're taking transit. With a good number of tables and a comfortable, relaxed environment, Gumbo Social is a great place for NOLA food. I'll definitely swing by again whenever I'm craving a bowl of gumbo in the future.

I been currently thinking about some concha's . Although conchas means sea shells in Spanish but the conchas I am referring to is a Latin American pastry. San Francisco is a place which has good pastries from North Beach to the Mission. There is a place in the Mission which recently open and has been neighborhood favorite for their conchas ( not the sea shell) pastries. It's located on 23rd street next Bartlett in between Mission street and Valencia streets and it's called Florecita Panaderia. Back to the same block I bought my first comic books as a kid and where I use hang around as a teenager I landed at what was formerly inside the Velvet Cantina and later Shuggies Trash Pie in SF. Inside the Florecita it was spacious and lots of different conchas available . They have many different types of conchas so I got the churro and vanilla conchas. The churro was tasty and a bit flakey like some in SF . The vanilla was not too sweet and a little soft. These conchas were like having a little sweet croissant mixed with a pineapple bun. I then had to wash it down with Tres leches matcha for Don Juan de la Matcha. It was hella delicious. This a must new destination in the Mission District. San Francisco is the city in where I "dwell "grew up in the Mission where they "sell"conchas with a different pleasant "smell"these conchas you don't put lemon squeezes on it and are delicious baked pastry Conchas but there are not a "sea shell" Florecita in English means " little flower" they have lots of conchas but it's not conchas from a "seafood tower"they have sweet bread which is a little sweet not "sour" and the conchas are so good they will get "devour"

Other than our group of 7 diners, 5 others were there for an intimate experience. Service: 5 stars all the way! Alex and the bartender were especially friendly, patiently explaining what they were doing and answering all our questions. Food: 3.5 stars. The menu for our night was California Southern. Witty ideas, some interesting combinations and the baby back ribs had lovely smokiness and bite. Most of the dishes were good, but some of them didn't quite come together or needed just a tad more of something special. But overall quite solid. Drinks: 4.5 stars. Loved how they had both alcoholic cocktails and non alcoholic cocktails. Both were excellent! And the cocktail pairings ($39 for alcoholic and $29 for zero proof pairing) were quite good value for money. Charging 15% service fee when we prepaid and then saying that tip wasn't included in our final bill: 2 stars. Sorry this is a big pet peeve of mine; wish they did what all other restaurants where you prepay on Tock do, which is charge a 18-20% service fee upfront and then don't need to ask for anything else if we don't add more. Honestly if we added another 18% tip that would be 33% total seems like a lot to be expected. Overall we had a fun night but the tip situation left a bad taste in our mouth. That said, big kudos to the guys for sharing their food and stories.

Came here with my partner and the waitress only wanted to approach me, and was not nice to my partner at all. When he was mid sentence ordering his drink, she cut him off and demanded to see his ID. ( mind you...it is also his bday...) A while later, we decided to get another round and he raised his hand hoping to get her attention. I completely understand that being a server is hectic and very stressful, but a little acknowledgment when you see your table asking for you should be bare minimum. She completely ignored him multiple times. When she finally came to our table and bluntly said to him " I see you okay. I'm doing other things but I see you. " she only wanted to speak with me when ordering also....which I found kind of weird. She is also not the nicest to the table next to us also, so at least it's not targeted. But aside from that, drinks and small bites are pretty standard for a cocktail bar. Nothing too special, but a good place to try with friends. The service mostly ruined it for us that night.
