Fortunately, it did not disappoint. So delicious. Combination Platter Enchilada and House tamales: Not worth the price. Just skip it. Dish lacks favor. Esquites: Not worth the price. Just skip it. Very bland. Crispy shredded beef taquitos: Not worth the price. Just skip it. There was no favor. Even the queso on top was favorless. Price: It's very expensive for bland Mexican food Parking: Decent. We came after 5:30pm and we did drive around a few times to find parking. Side note: We waited a month to eat here and was sooo disappointed. It wasn't bad but not worth the money or the wait. The flavors were just average and didn't justify the expensive prices. At this point, you're paying more for the ambiance, photos, service than the actual quality of the dishes.

We feel that it's one of the perks of living in San Francisco. What cuisine do we not have? We were craving Mexican food and we found the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow on Leland Street in Visitacion Valley. We entered the restaurant that was 1/3 filled at 11:30 a.m. The restaurant was cozy and homey. Let's eat here! Done. The menu was extensive, so we asked the young lady (Jocelyn) what's popular. She said everyone loves the chilaquiles with their special verde sauce. Done. Then I asked, what else is good? Jocelyn said they normally run out of their empanadas/turnovers. There were 3 left (pineapple, apple and chicken). We'll take them all. Done. Now, what to drink? Jocelyn suggested the cafe de olla. Done. OMG the best best suggestion ever. Not only was the food delicious and all the homemade sauces the tastiest... the cafe de olla (Mexican coffee with cinnamon) hit the mark. The coffee was the star of my meal. I would drive all the way to Leland Street just for this. That's how yummy it was. After we finished eating we sat around and spoke to Jocelyn (a junior in high school) and her father Jose. We said we'll return for sure. He said you have to try the enchilada mole. His wife is from Puebla and that's where mole is made. He was so kind to give my BF a sample. Definitely a great great find! They confirmed they serve refried beans and that breakfast is available all day, although it might take a bit longer during lunch hours. That was enough for us to get in the car and head over to Brisbane. This is not a trendy or modern spot, but more of a good old fashioned Mexican restaurant. It focuses on simple, familiar dishes rather than trying to reinvent anything. When we walked in, there were only a few people there, and they seemed like regulars. It gave the place a comfortable, neighborhood feel. I ordered the generous chorizo plate, which came with scrambled eggs, refried beans, Spanish rice, and tortillas on the side. The menu said it included three eggs. If that is the case, they must have been on the smaller side. The chorizo was decent, though milder than I expected, and the eggs could have been cooked a little less. Still, it was a solid and satisfying meal overall. George left most of his rice but ate the rest of his food, and I finished everything on my plate. The restaurant was clean, and the owner was friendly when we spoke with him. The service, however, was a bit hands off. My water glass was never refilled, and no one checked back to see if we needed anything else, which I found a little annoying. Even with those minor issues, there is something appealing about the place. It feels like a local staple with a steady group of regulars. I am interested in going back to try more of the menu. Brisbane has ample parking without meters.

When you think of typical Mexican fare... burritos, tacos, enchiladas, chile rellenos... you have a flavor in mind. I had the chile relleno plate with a carnitas enchiladas. Delicious.

The food looked delicious, eye candy. Parking is limited. It's a small place, but big enough to come in with a fairly large group. We walked in and sat down. I also loved that they serve saltines with their shrimp cocktail because some places just give chips. The birria tacos came with 3 regular sized tacos and honestly each one is pretty dense with meat and cheese. The consome also had some meat although, I think it was beef and not goat. Everything was tender but the flavor was just ok for me. My mom wanted a carnitas super burrito and this was pretty good. Lots of meat and some bits were crispy just how I like it. I wouldn't mind getting it again but I do want to try their al pastor next time. Their fish plate was pretty good as well. Loved the crispness of the fish and it didn't feel greasy or heavy. It came with avocados, rice, beans, lettuce and 4 flour tortillas. I wouldn't mind getting this again. A basket of chips came for each person as soon as we sat down and there was a healthy selection of salsa. I didn't care for the chips itself as they were too salty for me. The ambiance is very festive and there were plenty of people coming in and out. We dined in and found myself wishing they gave real silverware rather than plastic. We were only give one real fork for the fish and it was difficult to break apart. Their plastic cutlery was also pretty flimsy so we mostly ate with our hands. Overall, I'd still come back and try other dishes.
