    Tuna less musubi for $6
    JESSICA M.

I got 2 musubi, one karrage which I rate a 4 star and a tuna which I rate a 2. I think 4 speaks for itself...good and would buy again. 2 for the taste was good but the ratio of tuna 25% to rice was 75%. Look at the picture and ask me what am I going to do with it. I'm going to dump it in the compost to turn into mulch. Paying it forward to the earth!

The chicken musubi was delicious but def ask for extra teriyaki sauce with it. Also they can get a long line so expect a wait, but regardless it's a Delicious affordable snack!

"Look at that loooonnng line!" "Let's jump in it!" Some AZNs love to queue up! Even when there's no freebies. Because some are curious about the new new or straight up nosey (*raises hand*). Today at Spark Social SF (Bark Summer Pawty Event), Tokachi Musubi food truck had the longest line which drew curiosity and for more people to jump in line. They're a new food truck (opened in March 2023) serving Japanese Omusubi ($5-$8 each) and Udon ($10-$14). Vegan friendly. O M U S U B I * Ebi Fry: Fried Shrimp ($5 x2) * Karaage: Fried Chicken ($5) * Buta: Pork ($5) * Mentaiko: Spicy Red Caviar ($5) I had high hopes for this Japanese owned and operated truck but it was sadly a letdown. Like a baby onigiri, the omusubi were golf-sized rice balls wrapped in nori, cut in the middle, then stuffed/topped with your choice of protein or veggie. Each omusubi had one piece of protein - one fried shrimp, one karaage, one folded slice of braised pork, or a light smear of mentaiko (one half side only). I tried the ebi and mentaiko omusubi. Seemed like a bad batch of rice, it was mushy and gluey in texture esp the mentaiko one. The nori was soggy+chewy so the omusubi may have been prepped ahead of time. We picked out the proteins to eat and tossed the rice balls. S E R V I C E Kind. They're still figuring things out so it took awhile to order. With 5 groups in front of us, it took 30-35 minutes to receive our order. They forgot one of my omusubi so I had to go back. Overall, seemed like Tokachi Musubi had an off day. Although it was pricey for what it was ($32 for 5 omusubi w/ tip), I'm down to give them another try if I run into their food truck again. Hope to have a better update next time!

Ordered the musubi bento w spam and shrimp musubi. Chicken karage was good- flavorful but I wish it had a dipping sauce Edamame- a little cold but not bad Miso soup- really liked it Shrimp musubi- did not like. Shrimp not too tasty and their musubi has a TON of rice Spam musubi- came with 2-3 slices of spam so the TON of rice had some meat to go with it, so it was a decent ratio and I liked the taste more than I expected

My friend told me about a new Japanese food truck in San Francisco. As both of us were from Japan, we decided to check them out at Sparc on Friday night. Each household in Japan has their own way of making onigiri or musubi ( both means rice balls) and tokachi musubi reminds me of that homemade, warm, unpretentious, and comfort food/onigiri that I eat back home in Japan. Their rice was also moist , soft and complemented the ingredients very well. Mentaiko: spicy fish roe musubi was my favorite as I grew up eating it as a kid and I love anything spicy. For those who are looking for a kick, this is a must try. Ikura musubi: fish caviar musubi and it tasted just like the ikura nigiri at sushi restaurants. Their subtle saltiness, combined with the perfect smokiness complemented the soft rice. Ebi tempura musubi: nothing goes better with beer than a fried shrimp. The shrimp was nice and hot. A siracha mayo sauce was drizzled on top that was just delectable and went perfect with the shrimp. My friend let me try her Karaage ( fried chicken) that came in her bento box and it was hot and juicy. The line for the food truck seemed long, which just meant that food was that good ( and it was ! ). We went looking for a beer while we waited. I appreciated the cashier who gave us a heads up about the wait time and we ended up not having to wait too long. Loved the food and will definitely be going back again !

YES YES YES! Finally a musubi truck that tickles the tastebuds! Let's talk about it! Tokachi Musubi serves exactly what the business name says, "Musubi" First impressions, you are almost overwhelmed with the different selections of musubi variations. Also, you almost wonder the size as each one is worth $6 a pop. I ordered two different selections... 1) Chicken karage musubi: This one is a fried chicken musubi, it comes as a round rice ball wrapped in dry seaweed. Cut in half like a pac-man, they place the generous serving or chicken karage on top. NO they don't remove the rice from the inside! Instead think of it as a rice ball with a side of chicken. Def filling if you want a snack to go. This one was my favorite! 2) Shrimp musubi: As mentioned earlier, served similarly like the other musubis. This is served as a rice ball wrapped in dried sea weed and stuffed with breaded shrimp. I personally think they could use a lot more shrimp, I felt like there was way too much rice and a small breaded shrimp. This one imo is a miss but delish nonetheless! Verdict: Tokachi Musubi is a must try! If you like musubi, and if you like in different variations, or even have not tried it in different variations, try this spot it will not disappoint. I want to try their spam musubi next.

Service was great despite the busy lunch time rush and I ordered the fried shrimp musubi and everything about it was so good! The sauce, crust, rice quality, and the nori(seaweed) wrapping the musubi was a great balance complimenting one another! Will definitely visit again!

We checked out their food truck out of Barebottle brewing. The service was super feast. We ordered the bento with spam musubi and pork. Overall the food was good but didn't give it 5 stars because the musubi was difficult to eat. I ended up needing to cut it apart and eat it with a fork.

My new favorite food truck! The food is SO fresh and delicious. My favs are the buta pork and shrimp musubi (my husband loves the spam and karaage fried chicken musubi). The food is such great quality and not greasy, and the owner Erika is the sweetest person (she is from Japan so the food is authentic)! Whenever we see they will be in our area we always make sure to find them, 10/10 recommend!!

The owner is from Japan so you can enjoy authentic Japanese food. I heard rice ball is very popular in Japan now.

Ordered a Spam musubi, Karaage musubi, Tropical musubi, Mentaiko musubi, and Ume musubi ($6 each), over all had a good experience with the staff they were all really kind. They had a pretty long line so a longer wait time was expected which wasn't a big deal. The musubi was about palm sized, which was a pretty decent size for the price. The taste was like what you'd expect from a musubi, i personally really enjoyed the spam musubi! Over all i really enjoyed my experience and i would definitely purchase again if i ever come across this truck again in the future!

    Karaage musubi & spam musubi

I was hanging out at barebottle in Bernal Heights, and they were parked there so I decided to try! I ordered spam and karaage musubi, and they were so flavorful with teriyaki sauce and it went super well with beer. Must try when you see them around :D bonus point that their service was super fast!
