We were warmly greeted upon arrival. Unfortunately, it so happened that the elevator in the second building was temporarily off due to a fire alarm issue. We didn't want to leave our bags and decided we would take the stairs . The front staff gladly helped us carry our luggage to our room ( we were on the top floor)! Once we got to our room, we were glad that the room had a nice view. My daughter and I went to the roof daily to see the beautiful sunset. This hotel boutique hotel has a small coffee shop with house made pastries. At check in, they give you a voucher(s) for a free cup of coffee at their coffee shop. (Additional cost for upgrades.) We were able to use the vouchers for our entire stay! There is also a nice restaurant on site. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. Their bar area is a nice place to hang around too. We enjoyed breakfast one morning and tried dinner service another night. Both times our food was surprisingly good. Next time we're visiting my family, we'll definitely consider staying here again.

We enjoyed the proximity to the town and the amazing view of the water from the rooftop deck. The kids enjoyed the freedom to wander around town and look in the shops, and enjoyed the game store. We watched the parade that must have had everyone in town participating! We are not from a small town. This was fun for us. The king-sized bed was comfortable, and we had a room with a soaking tub and a giant shower. The pull-out couch was "ok" according to my son. One thing I will say that was missing was a common area indoors for people to meet up and socialize outside of the restaurant. We have traveled often with these families, and we like to find areas to play cards and spend time together. The food at the restaurant was good. We had a poor experience with one of the rooftop bartenders. He looked like he had been there a long time and really had no interest in answering questions or engaging with the town. His younger companion bartender was friendly and welcoming. Advice: In the evening, it cools down tremendously on the rooftop, so you will need blankets even though there are a couple of fireplaces for ambiance.

The lobby is cheerful, the rooms large, and the beds extremely comfortable! My spouse and I would love to get the same mattress for our bedroom at home! It's obvious that care has been taken to ensure each guest enjoys his, her, their experience. The staff at this hotel could write the book on hospitality! General Manager, Kathleen Kelly, is a great role model, and Joey, the Front Office Manager, has put together a welcoming team whose joy in working with each guest is obvious! We arrived in our big shred truck and the first thing I was asked by the front desk lady was if I had just arrived in the big truck and it was not saying in the parking lot over night right?!! Uhh ya, usually when you drive a vehicle to a hotel you park it in the parking lot. I was then told that usually when people drive larger vehicles they notify them ahead of time and so on. So she goes and gets the manager that proceeds to tell me multiple time people always call ahead (ok no need to keep telling me something that SHOULD have been done a long time ago) how all the rooms and parking spaces are all taken for the night and on and on. My husband then comes around and says that he will move it no problem. She proceeds to talk over him and keeps saying the same thing. At this point I am ready to just go to a different hotel because of how extremely rude they are. Now I have no problem owning up to I should have called ahead however I don't drive an oversize vehicle for my every day car so I didn't realize or even think of this issue. It was a Thursday night in May!! I get if you are just concerned about having enough space for all your guests but there is a way to approach and talk to people. My everyday job is scheduling and sales so I talk to people non stop and being rude is NEVER a way to talk to someone! That being said we left at 6:15am on Friday morning and our truck was taking up 1 and a quarter of another parking spot and in their two small parking lots there was at least 7 or 8 empty spots available!!! The room was nice and clean and the young man that assisted my husband with parking was very nice however my experience with the rude front dest lady and EXTREMELY rude manager will not have me going back! I'll take my business elsewhere!

It simply has no insulation between floors/walls so you hear EVERYTHING. There were maybe 5 of us in the hotel, but they put us all next to each other. I asked why they would do that, she said that's where the king beds were, and that's what everyone requested. So we got almost no sleep. The ice maker started to make extremely weird, loud noises around 2:00am. I think that woke everyone up. Because from that point on, I heard laughing, voices, footsteps, sinks, toilets flushing. It was horrible!! I knew this was a cheaper motel. But for just the night, how bad could it be!?!? Ugh. Barely a couple hours of sleep, that's how bad. Good - dog-friendly, rooms seemed clean, mattresses comfortable, mini-fridge. The weird metal sticking out of the wall pretending to be a bedside table is as weird and as bad as all the other reviews have said. Soooo dumb!! All our electronics, water bottles, hair clips, etc...on the floor. Ridiculous!! The shower at max temp is not really hot enough (hubby said it was ok, so that might be a girl thing??). Don't go out on the lawn!! Dog poop everywhere. Hubby & I both found that out the hard way. And our 'cheap' room, quoted at $84, ended up being $150 with taxes & dog fee. That is waaaaay too much for this caliber of motel. We won't be staying again. We don't think. Unfortunately Anacortes has almost no decent quality hotels. So we'll see if we can find something else for our overnight stays. (We often stay one night, so we can get a boat out in the morning).

My friends also had difficulty sleeping due to the bed quality and the cold from the thin walls as well. Room quality: I got upgraded from the Lighthouse room to the Oar House which had two beds to choose from. It also was missing the main blind facing the outdoor seating area. Even with the thermostat at 70, I found myself shivering in the middle of the night due to thin walls (I could hear the cars zoom by from the back of the house in the room and the windows were single paned). The bathroom wasn't connected to the room, rather it was across the hall that required stepping outside into the cold, though still under a roof. There are no channels to watch, only DVDs which I counted there were 36 to choose from. There was no VCR to use but a bunch of videos to choose from. WiFi is not accessible in the Oar House so I was told to go to the room where breakfast would be served to get any internet, which was across the backyard into the other side of the house. Food: it is all frozen food that you heat yourself. There were Schwann's omelets, pancakes, sausages, frozen Greek yogurt and eggo waffles. The cereals available were mini wheats, raisin bran, corn flakes and others. There is a keurig that only had coffee available. Overall the view is beautiful and the decor is very nautical and unique with pictures of Oggie during his fisherman days also it is 5 min driving to the ferry. But it isn't worth the $135 a night due to poor sleep quality from thin walls and frozen food. At $50 it is definitely worth it just for the view itself but the location isn't in walking distance of anything except for the ferry.

They don't have a 24 hour desk, so you have to fill out a lot of paperwork before your stay so that in case you show up after hours, you'll know how to retrieve your keycard. That's okay, but what if you didn't open the email and make those arrangements? Our room as clean and had enough space, with a nice big window for natural light with a iew of the parking lot, which I appreciated so I could keep an eye on our car. We came mid-week so it wasn't busy. The only thing that drops this place a couple of stars is that they're stingey about the lobby coffee and the breakfast. I knew not to expect much for breakfast but seriously, don't have chafing trays if your offerings are either cold boiled eggs or madeleines. I lol'ed over that one, because they made it look like they offer eggs and has browns, only to be that. They also have yogurt cereal, toast, an apple, and coffee, but the milk for the cereal had gone bad. Yuck. So if we're just talking about the hotel this place gets a 3.5, but they lose a star over that boiled egg/madeleine presentation.d

The sheets on the beds were dirty and clearly had not been changed, which was both unacceptable and unsanitary. When we tried to contact the front desk and management -- multiple times -- to request clean sheets, extra blankets, and to pay for a cot that we were told we could pay for, we were given conflicting information in passive aggressive ways. We followed up with calls that mostly went unanswered, and when we did finally get a response, the staff was rude, dismissive, and unwilling to help and hung up on us multiple times. Even worse, the management was unprofessional and disrespectful. They not only ignored our concerns but also made veiled threats to charge us additional fees when we pressed them to fulfill basic services we had already paid for AND confirmed multiple times prior to our arrival. They tried to charge us for additional people in the room at a HIGHER rate that is even listed on their website. They were rude and were very shady and secretive as if they were facilitating illegal activity. The manager refused to give us her name and should not be in a position in any customer service field. The mistreatment of both elderly members of our group was particularly disturbing -- staff spoke down to them and brushed off their needs, which was both cruel and discriminatory. Because they refused us service in renting cot, my 77year old father slept on the floor one night and slept in the car the 2nd night. What a disgrace and shame on the hotel staff and their actions! If we could give a negative star rating we would! Overall, this hotel failed to meet even the most basic standards of cleanliness, courtesy, and customer service. I strongly urge anyone considering staying here to think twice. There are plenty of other options where you'll be treated with respect and dignity -- this is not one of them. Read the reviews...so many 1 & 2 stars...believe them! We don't usually fuss with leaving reviews but we could not let this one go unreviewed. Horrible place and horrible management and staff.
