My Husband and I had an amazing time on the "Self Guided Kayak Tour" we drove over from New Orleans for a different type of swamp tour than the typical airboat or large pontoon style tours. We checked in at their shop which was full of all types of drinks, snacks, fishing supplies and even a small restaurant. After check in they send you about 4 miles down the road to the Cane Bayou boat launch. There we met up with Dez who got us all set up. Very cool dude who made us feel comfortable and was able to answer any questions we had. Dez got us into our kayaks and we were on our way. To be clear, the staff is just there to get you started, once you are on the water you on your own! My Husband and I have only ever Kayaked 1 other time and this was a breeze! So if you are a newbie this still a great option for you. We paddled along the Cane Bayou and came across so many turtles out sunning themselves. Just a few minutes into our adventure we came across a baby gator! We probably saw 5-8 gators in total of all different sizes, even a BIIIIG one who could have been 10-12 feet. We saw many fish jumping and a half full of crane. This tour is extremely safe, the gators couldn't care any less that you are there so don't be nervous! We are so happy we took this adventure and will recommend it to anyone coming this way. Tip* if you are coming from NOLA, it is best to rent a car. The drive is about 45 minutes from the city and after check in you have another 4 miles to go. Having a car is much more simple and cost effective for sure!

Great spot for a socially distances getaway! My boyfriend and I wanted to do something outdoors and COVID safe so we decided to go kayaking. Outside of a bit of a struggle finding the launch spot for the kayaks, the process was smooth from start to finish. You can rent single or double kayaks, and if you want to ensure that you'll have a spot you can book online beforehand. The kayak course was very calm with tons of beautiful scenery to soak in. Very beginner friendly for those of you that are afraid of it being too challenging! Would highly recommend for anyone trying to get out into nature and away from COVID, they even sprayed down all the equipment when we were done.

The staff was great, friendly and helpful. Would definitely go again. I actually ended up running over an alligator... after which I think I beat the world's record for paddling! I did apologize. I did the run down to Lake Pontchartrain which has incredible lush swamps which slowly give way to march land before you come to the lake. Great wildlife sightings along the way (besides the gator).

5 days ago I cannot say enough kind things about the Bordelons and the experience they provide to locals and tourists alike. They are passionate about what they do and about the community they serve. Their tours are an amazing, can't miss experience and they have a quality beer selection too.

What a great place to rent kayaks for exploring the Louisiana wetlands. It seems like most places in the area only offer guided tours, so this was just what we were looking for to explore on our own. We stopped in on our way to New Orleans from Florida and rented a tandem kayak for $50 to paddle on Cane Bayou. The folks were very nice and we were on the water in no time. It only took 2 hours to get down to Lake Pontchartrain and back, but in the Summer sun that was plenty. We saw several fish jumping and birds along the shore. The route took us from a densely wooded area right to the lake. It was around lunch time on a Friday and we only saw one other person in a fishing boat. It was definitely a fun way to get out on the water.

My wife and I rented a couple kayaks to travel down to Lake Ponchatrain via Cane Bayou. We got setup at the store and was met at the launch with the Kayaks ready to go in the water. We were given a breakdown of what to expect and provided a map and there was no surprises. Took about an hour paddling leisurely to get down to the lake.

Bayou Adventure is awesome! I've been wanting to visit the store for years now and finally I had the opportunity. The food was delish! We had a whole group of people, like 15, and they all LOVED the experience and the food. The owners are good people and the whole family is involved. IN my next trip to Louisiana, I am going on a kayak tour with Jeff! Thank you Shannon and Jeff for making all my guests happy! I Bayou Adventure!

First of all, to get here you have to drive down a shell road, and if you don't have a truck you can pretty much forget it because the shell road has a lot of potholes and dips and I'm not sure a regular car could handle it. Then you have to drive under a bridge and, again, if you don't have a truck you're in bad shape because the under part of the bridge fills with water and doesn't drain. Maybe there are others ways to get here, but that's how I got here. The park itself is okay, It's right on the lake, but it's kind of that funky part of the lake in NORCO that no one really visits. It kind of smells like dead fish and there are trucks that drive up and dump broken cement over there. I'm not exaggerating. There are gazebos if you want to go out there and have a picnic, there's playground equipment for kids and there are picnic tables. There's also a nature trail that actually looked pretty decent, but I didn't go exploring. The park has only been around for about 12 years and it's not terrible. I'm always happy to see something done with empty space and it's nice that families have a place to go on nice days.

I was worried that if it were too cold we wouldn't see too many alligators. The weather turned out to be perfect, in the low 70s, and we saw lots of alligators. There is a gift shop where you can buy drinks, snacks, and souvenirs. You can look around the property while you wait for here toward it again. There is a fenced pond rehabilitating injured alligators, a pool with baby alligators that they let you hold at the end of the tour, and lots of information about local wildlife. Our captain was fantastic. He gave us a lot of facts on the wildlife as well as history of the area. He was great at making sure everyone on the boat could see, as he would rotate the boat in a circle making sure everyone got a "front seat." He brought food out to the feeding sites of raccoons, squirrels, and wild hogs, which brought them all running. We saw an old trappers cabin, an old teepee made of palms, a mass grave, and the grave of the local video priestess that died in 1915. And, of course, the alligators. At the end of the thought, the captain showed us some of his pets--turtles, crawfish, and a baby alligator named Bruce, which we got to hold.

We decided to book and drive…read moreourselves there since it was a bit more expensive for us to drive than pay for three people to go from their office in downtown. They told us to be there 15 minutes before our tour start time and we were there 20 minutes before, but the tour guide was 10 minutes late past the start of the tour itself. We thought we were in the wrong place and tried to get in contact with the tour agency. Got voicemail the first time and it was this random woman's number, but then called the same number a minute later and a guy told us the tour operator was on his way and then needed to pick up the supplies. It seems that they should have communicated that earlier and they should have a better system in place. The launch from the boat area was into a busy area right under the freeway and our guide basically was like hangout there and wait for me. That foreshadowed the rest of the tour for us, he basically was distant from us most of the tour, either way in front or way behind and we were a total tour of four people. There was no discussion about what we would see beyond him showing us alligators. At one point we were in the deeper section and a massive log was in the way, he went over and faced the opposite direction while the four of us struggled to get our kayaks over the log. He told us to go around and we got stuck because it was more elevated on the side and just sat on his phone the entire time while we helped each other. I get we were a group coming together, but it felt like he just told us which way to go, but didn't do any real guiding. We even helped him load and unload the supplies from the kayak. I think this tour company needs to be better organized and train their guides on what they should do to become tour guides.

My partner and I have some experience paddling and wanted plenty of time to see wildlife and get deep in the swamp for the best scenery, and for us the extended tour was the right choice! I'd recommend it to visitors to New Orleans who love nature, the outdoors, and/or getting a fun and unique workout in during vacation. We were on the water for about 4 hours. Sunscreen, sunglasses, shoes you don't mind getting wet, and PLENTY of water are a must! There are stops at a truck stop right before and after for the bathroom and buying any drinks/snacks, plus a stop on dry land during the tour. Our guide Nick was clearly dedicated to both paddling and nature even outside of work, and our tour felt less like a scripted performance as some tours can be and more like a buddy was showing and telling you things he was passionate about. We saw several small alligators, barred owls, hawks, turtles, and water birds. It was unseasonably warm so the reptiles were a treat to see, and it was awesome getting to see owls out in daylight which I'd never be able to pick out myself. Bring binoculars if you have them! My only small complaint, which has nothing to do with the tour itself: the AI-generated content on the company's Instagram page is kind of weird. Photos and videos from actual tours would be more honest and enticing!
