Let me start off by saying -- I'm a Playa Bowls fan, okay? Ten toes down. But with an open mind, I decided to try Baya Bar... and yeah, let's talk about it. First thing I noticed? The size. For the price -- almost $18 -- the bowl felt small. And not even small in a "packed with goodness" kind of way. It just felt... lacking. I got an açaí bowl, and honestly, it was more toppings than actual smoothie. And don't get me wrong, I love my toppings, but there has to be a balance. The ratio was off. The toppings completely overpowered the smoothie base, and at that point, it's like... am I eating a bowl or just snacking on toppings with a little bit of açaí underneath? Taste-wise, it was good. No complaints there. The flavors were solid. But when it comes to overall experience -- portion, balance, and value -- it just didn't hit the way I needed it to. So yeah... It's good to see some healthier dining options open in an area where too many pastry and dessert places have popped up. Plenty of options for acai bowls, oatmeals, toasts, smoothies, and some coffee drinks. The friendly staff work quick here preparing your order. Location is also kept clean and has a bright fun vibe to it. They do have some tables and window counter seating available, but to me its more of a grab and go spot. Baya Bar was on my radar for a while now. Today my daughter was treating me and I saw it wasn't too busy when we passed by. We went in and I snagged a couple seats in the window. I knew I wanted the Avocado Toast so my daughter ordered it and brought it over. As far as the food there's so many different combinations that I can try. The price is very reasonable for the fresh quality. My Avocado Toast was spectacular and I will definitely get it again this summer!! I could easily get addicted to it. The employees are friendly and very efficient. Customers were in and out quickly. I was surprised how quickly my toast arrived. The atmosphere is laid back and plenty of seating. You can sit in the window or at a table. I'm giving them Five Stars because I'm definitely looking forward to returning. The hours are perfect for my eating schedule too. I'm recommending! read more

My wife and I visited the UES for a week in November, and during that stay we visited this Baya Bar location 3 times. The first time, I got pick up here for my wife who had started to feel sick, so I got her the "Flu shot" ginger shot as well as a green smoothie of some kind, and I got the "mocha muscle", a peanut butter + banana + coffee smoothie. I also ordered us two of the regular avocado toasts. Needless to say, everything was delicious enough that we came back 2 more times. Once just for the smoothies, and another time for take out avocado toasts and smoothies for breakfast. On all three visits the employees were super nice and deserve top marks. This location on UES between 90th & 91st St just opened. I have not been to any of their locations before. I heard about their grand opening and wanted to try it. They had a free promo in the morning. The menu has bowls, smoothies and juices. The bowls have 3 kinds of base to pick from - Açaí, Pitaya (dragon fruit) and Coconut. Then you pick the toppings, like strawberries, bananas, pineapples. A few bowls have names to them so you can order by name on the menu. You can also customize your bowl. The staff are friendly. There are quite a few tables and chairs. They have table ledge seatings by the window. A good amount of space inside. Their sidewalk outside look big enough for a few tables for the summer too. Let's start with the fact that the interior is so cute and there's so much sun coming into the restaurant. There's indoor seating and the line moves so fast. The guys that work here have the most immense amount of patience because their service never waivers no matter how many people and orders there are. I came back here 5x within the span of a week because it's just that delicious. Everything I tried (açaí smoothie, pitaya bowls, even my dog's bark bowl!) were delicious. Came in for the Chai Latte Smoothie but they ran out of chai Highkey expensive for smoothies but I was just treating myself. Service workers were so nice and patient with me.
