For some unknown reason, my body will go against me and crave something that doesn't involve ample amounts of grease, carbs, cheese, and something insanely spicy getting washed down with alcohol. You know, something healthy. One day, I was really craving beets. But I really couldn't justify buying and eating a can of them just like that. Besides, I was at work at the time and that'll be too weird. Even for me. After 10 minutes of Googling, I finally remembered that one of my coworkers treated me to a smoothie from Juice Generation. Thank God because googling "Places that are like Jamba Juice but are not" wasn't getting me anywhere. Perusing the menu, I settled on the Daily Detox, which is a Juice made with carrot, cucumber, green apple, lemon, and ginger. Since I was ordering online because I was in a time crunch, I omitted the cucumber and added the beets. My precious beets! I ordered the 20z of it. I hit send and went to pick it up. The interior of Juice Generation reminds of every juicing place: a lot of wood paneling, refrigerators filled with health elixirs, and the smell of the produce aisle of a supermarket, however, not as oppressive. Just produce aisle adjacent. The employees work in a small space but they're like a well-oiled machine. They sometimes have change roles quickly and they do it effortlessly. I can only imagine the insane amount of orders, both in person and online, they have to keep track of. Considering the neighborhood, it's only more imperative that they continue to do an impeccable job. For such a high stressed job, they're so sweet and personable. Now, for my drink: The Daily Detox: it was delicious! Did I feel healthy? Did I energized? Did I feel amazing? No. But I did get my beets. That was the plot of this whole tale. However, I did like the vibe of Juice Generation and have gone back repeatedly. Although, it hasn't been for the Daily Detox. My body has learned not to go against me anymore. I ordered the ginger juice with some other additions and it was very good. Ginger aftertaste do it had a little kick and made the drink last long. I feel like I can bash juice generation all I want, but truly it does hit the spot. Every smoothie I've had has been fresh, and I so appreciate that they pour the extra smoothie into a cup for you so that they don't waste any. I've only ever had the mucho mango and the strawberry one. The mucho mango does not taste like mango! It is literally just blended up orange juice with some various fruits on the side. Nevertheless! I get it a lot! It's some good blended up orange juice! Do I wish it tasted a little more like mango? Yes, I do! But I will take what I can get. The major major downside is how expensive these smoothies are. Paying over $10 for blended fruit hurts the soul. Why are healthy things so expensive? Let's talk about it. Juice Generation is busy at this location. I haven't had juice but I'm a fan of the organic muffins. One day I'm going to try the baked Strawberry Donut. The prices for pastries is kinda high $3.65 a muffin. I read the ingredients and everything in them is organic. I've had the Blueberry and the Pumpkin. I preferred the Blueberry. The spices in the Pumpkin were a little much. The employees are friendly and efficient. Like I said it's busy so get there early. When I walked by on my way home at 12:30pm the line was out the door. I got the mango mucho from here and it was tasty, especially on a hot day in the summer, but it cost $10 (plus tax) and didn't taste like mango at all. All in all, it tasted good but not sure I'd pay that much again for a smoothie. It also took a really long time for orders to come out, so there were at least 5-6 people waiting inside for orders for like 10-15 minutes (some looked like they had waited even longer than me). Decided to come get a smoothie after pushing myself during my HITT Yoga session and I'm very pleased! The smoothie I got was the Plant Protein Buzz which features plant milk, açaí, blueberries, banana and plant protein. It was very refreshing and a good portion size. Wait time on average was about 4 minutes considering the short line. Pricing is a bit pricey than what I'm used to but I also consider it worth it after a hot yoga/workout session every once in awhile. Quick and super healthy depending on what you get. I always get either watermelon juice or coconut water. Everything is fresh and then they also scoop out the coconut flesh for me that I like to snack on throughout the day. I appreciate their fast and quick service. They move through the lines swiftly. When I asked for extra peanut butter, he would not give me peanut butter and when I said I was a loyal customer, he called me racist. There were a lot of people that placed in person orders and services like Uber eats etc waiting to pick up their orders. So happy that this place extended their hours on weekdays til 10pm. It was 10pm before...I would rush there from the gym and sometimes they would close before I got there. Smoothies: Joyful Almond is absolutely sinful...cacao nibs, almond milk, coconut icecream...mmmmm. It leaves you full. The multi-V squeeze with Hemp protein gives me energy after a workout. Green Juice: Hale to Kale all the way. Honestly, I am not a huge fan of watermelon, but this drink is refreshing. Shots: Have them all when you need a little immunity boost: They have things in them like tumeric, oregano oil...lemon, orange, etc, I swear by oregano oil... Prepared Foods: Their kale with avocado salad with lemon dressing and raisins is excellent. I usually split it over two lunches it's so big. I went to one of the staff members to ask them about the coconut milk and what brand they used in the drinks or I could see the package to look at the ingredients and see if it met my dietary needs. Almond Butter Bliss Acai Bowl! Super refreshing and actually quite filling to substitute for a meal. Only negative is that it is $12 but I guess for the quality of ingredients and a substitution for a meal, it is worth a try. The almond butter was delicious with the bananas and strawberries. The coconut shavings and hemp granola with the acai blend was amazing. The bowl had a texture of crisp from the coconut and crunch from the hemp. I had my first acai bowl during a trip to Portland and I was instantly hooked. I've been searching for a spot that will live up to that standard, but unfortunately Juice Generation fell short. The selection of available bowl options was a little slim (maybe 4 or 5 options) and only one of them looked good to me. The prices were a little steep, but I felt like it was reasonable when factoring in the adjustment for NY prices. However, when I received the bowl, I was honestly surprised at how small it was! The bowls I had eaten in Portland were HUGE and $8. They were so large I struggled to finish some of them and you were legitimately full after eating it. The bowl from juice generation were tiny in comparison and a little over $12 after tax. This bowl fit in the palm of my hand. It was probably 5 inches across and tapers a lot towards the bottom of the bowl, so all the photos pictured on yelp make you think you're getting more than you actually are. Flavor was also lacking in the bowl. The "smoothie" part of the bowl didn't taste that special and the toppings were pretty basic: granola, banana, blueberries, and hemp hearts. Ok flavor, tiny portion, way overpriced. I haven't tried the juice or smoothies, but if you're looking for an acai bowl spot, look elsewhere. read more

They will welcome me with a smile, I will order mucho mango and gluten free, vegan banana muffin and will start to walk back home.
