I can NOT deal with house centipedes, so when I saw a giant one last year in my kitchen SINK, I freaked out, then called these guys. They sprayed last summer, and I haven't seen a centipede since. I just had them come back again, more as a preventative measure. I like the peace of mind, knowing I'm not going to cross paths with one of those nasty, demon-spawn, multi-legged horrors. Both times the technicians were professional, courteous, and quick, but today's guy went above and beyond, as he took a minute to tighten the latch on my gate! (Really, only a minute, don't want to get him in trouble!) :) Oh, and the year-long contract is fine by me. read more

Have used Bay State since we bought our house some 30 years ago. Using the same pest control for 30 years speaks to the quality and service this company delivers. Always satisfied Forget the national franchise companies, this local family business gets 5 read more

Family owned and operated, so customers are individually taken care of. They care and want to help. Jose came out and serviced my home in a professional manner. I'll be calling again. read more

I asked Baystate to come out and perform an inspection of our house for potential problems. Other than the bees out front in the ground that were not a big problem we did not have any infestations or nesting. On the day of the appointment it was raining so we were surprised that the tech showed up! We stood in the garage and chatted about various unrelated things including what the costs would be of various programs. After that the tech left because it was still raining so no inspection was performed. Next day I saw that we were charged $100 for the inspection! When I called they said that the tech was not invited into the house (she did not inform us that she needed to come in!) so we were charged $100 for her coming out and telling us about the different contracts ? We do not feel that the charge was in any way justified! read more

AMY was knowledgeable and polite! a true ray of sunshine! Thank you Amy and Bay State!

I have used Bay State for years both at my home and for our business. They are reliable, they know bugs! and mice and they are always professional and happy to accommodate my needs quickly and efficiently. I am afraid of bugs and they are my knight in shining armor! I have ALWAYS purchased the service contract (which is worth every nickle) they come as often as is necessary, bees in my diving board, behive in a bush, mice in my garage, ants on the walkway.......you name it they take care of it. Thumbs up to the more than competent staff. Nancy Troy Ipswich and Tewksbury read more

i was very preoccupied when I engaged Bay State, so didn't ask for written contract. Surprised to discover in a conversation with tech that not only was I paying for service, but I also was to participate! My duty was to check traps daily for presence of squirrels and report in to office. The traps were about 30' up, under the eaves.so vision was obscured and I missed two, who died. When i was called to account for this moral failing on my part, I was told I had agreed to do this to save the cost of having an employee come out each day- @ $35 or $39 dollars each time. This had never happened, as I know my vision's poor. When I decided that services could be terminated once five squirrels had been trapped and asked if coverings on holes could be left in place, as my prior company had done, I was told there would be an extra charge for this. (Never told what it would be.) To top this all off, there's a note on what I hope will be my final statement, "Customer not checking traps properly." Well, I have been, if not exterminated, certainly put in my place! read more

I was having a problem with a ground hog tunneling in the yard. The cost to set the trap was $159.00. After two days, a racoon wandered into the trap. The cost to release the racoon was $79.00, and the trap would have to be re-set at an additional charge of $159.00. If the groundhog had been caught, it would have cost $199.00 to remove it. So I spent $238.00 on NOTHING. They tell you that this policy is disclosed in the materials they email to you AFTER they have come to the house and set the trap. I'd rather have a ground hog in the yard than hire this deceptive company. read more

Happy to take your money. Hesitant to provide service. Customer service has gone way down hill.

Had wasps and ants. They sprayed. Wanted me to buy a year-long contract, which I refused (why pay extra for them to come back - if they do the job correctly, they won't need to come back, amirite?) Two days later ants back with a vengeance - more than the first time. I call them to come back. Mass confusion because they can't fathom that I didn't sign their standard year-long contract. Apparently they talk most customers into it. They very reluctantly agree to come back and spray again. I still have ants, even after the SECOND spray. I tell them I will give them one more chance to get rid of the ants that I paid to have exterminated and if it doesn't work, I want 1/2 my money back (I asked only for half my money back because they did, in fact, take care of the wasps.) I have phone conversation with an angry person from their office. I am sent full refund a week later, telling me they no longer want my business and do not call them again. No problem! read more

I cannot say enough great things about this company and especially the girls who answer all the phone calls. I have called numerous times for different problems and they are right there for me. I have health issues and that if the first and foremost concern they have for me. I can say I have never dealt with a more compassionate group of people ever. Not only do they resolve the matter very timely they care about their customers personally. I highly recommend this company. RG read more

We used these guys when our new house had an ant problem. They came in and got rid of the issue very quickly for a very reasonable price. Part of the contract included a year of coverage with unlimited return visits: if you see anything and want them to have a look they will send someone out, usually within 24 hours. Very reliable and effective! read more

When we moved into our house it had been uninhabited for a year. We had serious spider issues, as well as a lot of carpenter ants. We've had a yearly contract with Bay State Pest Control (they spray three times a year) for a few years now, and our spider and ant problems are non-existant now. In addition, we've had them out once for a hornet nest problem and once for a mouse problem, and both times they came within 24-48 hours and took care of the problem with immediate results. Best of all, all of this is covered under our yearly contract (which is reasonably priced). I highly recommend them. read more

The technicians that they send out are great. But the 'guarantee' is really just a hollow promise. It's a great concept, but don't try to use it. I had them come out to spray my whole property for bees for $270. 1 week later, the bees are back. No problem! I have a guarantee right? Not really. They only guarantee that bees won't land on your house. A customer service rep there explained to me that "we can't guarantee that bugs won't fly around in your back yard" as if she was speaking to a child. Very frustrated and disappointed. If you consider using this service, DO NOT depend on the "guarantee". read more

Read fine print on your contract. Every time an issue comes about it is not covered resulting in another surcharge to get the job done. Also have to wait long time for an appointment to take care of problem. read more

Terrible company. They miss "scheduled" sprays, only care about money and don't have half the technicians they have posted on their website. Sloppy and not worth the $500 they took me for read more

I thought I'd retire here but I guess not. In September of 2019, business had slowed down. I was a seasonal employee. My hours were cut from full time to 20 hours a week. I couldn't live off it. I went upstairs to speak with the owner explaining I couldn't live off the hours being cut and she laid me off right there. I showed up everyday and did my job and I felt that I was one upped. During my lay off, my position was abolished. I did a lot of the behind the scenes things like filing since they were on the paper system. I honestly loved it there. I got along with everyone. The job was easy. It was a nice switch from working the front line in customer service for 30 plus years. If things went well, I would be rehired in March. I called them in January, February and March. It wasn't until mid March when I was told my position was abolished. If I had known that prior to mid March, I would have done things differently. So now, I was in a panic. I had bills that I accrued during the holidays and that I was banking on paying off once I was hired back. Then Covid hit. I don't know what the owners are looking for in people they hire. They had one of the best crews. All of the girls really did above and beyond their call of duty there. They keep the people who steal from them but they let go the loyal ones. Pretty messed up if you ask me. It is a high turnover rate. The owners have a lot of stress on them between family and business and sometimes we are the ones it would be taken out on. Being "older" I got it more than the younger ones but it's still not cool. I wish them the best but they will never get better than us. It's their loss and someone else's gain. I think they just need to get their priorities straight on the business side. read more

Love this company. My house and yard was a bee magnet for all kinds of bees. I went for the contract and find it is well worth it. They come out automatically and do their thing to the house and perimeter for bees, ants, pedes, spiders, flys, etc. If I do have bees anywhere in my yard later in the summer, out they come quickly and zap them (ground bees, bush hives, etc.) My mower buddy is allergic and hit a nest 60 yards out from the house (I have sunny lawn, meadow, bordered by arborvitae, and shady pines) and the tech will be here within the hour to zap it under contract. read more
