I have to say this company had the best customer attitude I've experienced since starting this remodel in June '14. They had other things too, like expertise and patience, but it was an added surprise that they were so casually careful with my entire home. No fuss, no attitude, just put on the booties, and covered the floors where they worked - and did I say put on the booties EVERY time they came in? The bathrooms are old, and they made some helpful observations and suggestions about future work that sounded right to me. I don't usually post reviews, but I had to for Bay Plumbing. About 1.5 months ago, I had a sewer main backup. When I made an appointment with Tony, I had no idea how bad it was. It turned out that my basement toilet had sewage flooding out of it due to the backed-up main. Not only did Tony and his colleague assess the extent of the back-up immediately, he and his staff took the entire afternoon to carefully examine and clear the drains throughout the property to understand how these old pipes (house was built in the 20's) were connected. They also efficiently cleaned out the disgusting toilet, removed and disposed of it, and then cleaned up the bathroom, and put in a new toilet. They even came back the next day with a specialist to visually inspect the inside of the sewer main with a camera to determine whether the pipe was damaged, in order to understand whether damage caused the back-up. Tony and his staff were patient, considerate, knowledgeable, experienced, thorough and very professional. Although they spent many hours over a 2-day period to do all of this work, they charged a very reasonable price for all of the work. Tony even stayed behind after hours of grueling work to patiently answer all of my landlady's questions about replacing the sewer lateral and the runoff pipes to meet specs. The fixtures were from the 1970's so I knew it was about time to the fixtures and cartridge updated. Tony came out to assess the problem. He was upfront and did not want to make any unrealistic promises; he updated me along the way as worked on the faucet and when he went shopping around for the cartridge. Tony found a compatible cartridge and replaced it quickly an at a very reasonable price. Tony also told me that I should start to consider updating the whole faucet / figure in the near future as he showed me the pipe and there was a lot of rust on the current pipe. There is a reason why Tony has all these five-star reviews on Yelp: he is a fantastic plumber and a great guy to work with who will (seriously) go above and beyond for you. We found him through our real estate agent, and asked him to do several jobs before we moved into our new home: fixing some existing shoddy plumbing work, running a gas line to the kitchen and the backyard, venting our laundry properly, running pipe for a utility sink. He quoted us reasonable prices for every portion of the overall job, did the work in a timely manner, and was super communicative with us throughout. He was happy to explain anything we asked about, and even gave some helpful advice about how to get some drainage work done under the house. He also has an awesome assistant who did a lot of the work--he was super polite and really fast. All this is great, right? Well, it gets better. We ran into Tony at Home Depot near our house one weekend while we were setting things up before the move--he went there to grab a part for the work he was doing at the house--and he volunteered to take a roll of linoleum we had just bought back to the house for us so we wouldn't have to go back there. So unexpected and kind. And that's not even the best part. We had our new gas stove installed by Linn Star Transfer (a contractor for Home Depot's appliance deliveries) after Tony put in the gas line. They installed the stove incorrectly (I don't even know how that is possible; it's not complicated) and we had a gas leak until we turned off the gas via Tony's properly installed gas shutoff valve. Instead of dealing with Linn Star again, we decided to see if we could pay Tony to do this tiny job--we would have happily paid him more than it was worth just to get it done properly and not waste his time. We feel very fortunate to be introduced to Tony, Bay Handyman Plumbing. Tony helped us two plumbing problems, about 18 months apart. One required that he install new faucets in a downstairs bathroom. Since our current hardware in the bathroom is old, it was hard to find replacement parts. However, he worked with us to help identify the right parts. Perhaps I shouldn't say this, but he doesn't charge for all the time he works. Anyway, we were very pleased with the installation of the faucets. Our second problem was no hot water in a shower in a different bathroom. He diagnosed the problem, went and got the part, and we now have hot water. Tony is professional and reliable. Had my kitchen redone and needed all the plumbing and gas lines reinstalled. The work was on a tight schedule and Tony was on time for each stage. Since it's a 1940s house, all the pipes were galvanized and had to be replaced with copper, starting in the crawlspace. He worked neatly and efficiently for hours and at the end there was a beautifully constructed grid of pipes for the hot & cold water. After the sink was installed he came back and installed the disposal and the water filter system. The gas lines for the range had to be repositioned, and he was able to manage that, in addition to knowing about code requirements. After the project was completed I realized that the single lever on the kitchen faucet bumped against the backsplash wall in the hot position, so at no cost he came back, crawled under the sink and repositioned the lever section of the faucet to be in front. Problem solved. Lastly, since a previous plumber had told me I needed to get all my galvanized pipe replaced in order to prevent mineral buildup and lose my water pressure, I asked him about replacing all of the pipes. He gave me a very good price, but also said there was no need to do it until I experienced problems. Since this is not a problem, I decide not to do it. But am still considering it just to be on the safe side. What I appreciated was his honesty. Lastly, he is a sweet and charming person to deal with. read more
