He was definitely good back in the day, but he's gone now. His shop folded up. He had promised to do some limited side work for choice customers, but unfortunately never followed up on that either. I wish him well. Fortunately, there are still a few alternatives around in the Bay Area. read more

good customer service, nice selection of products, will definitely go back if I decide to purchase something. Tom b

I wanted to write this review, even though my experience is from 2017, because I was looking at his page and the majority of the review are filtered. I am hoping this one will make it through the algo. Nathan cut down the barrel on my SCAR 17 and pinned and welded the muzzle device to make it compliant. I was going to shoot at some private property in a couple days and he was able to accommodate my time restrictions. The accuracy was unchanged and it performed just as well before the modification. I measured the barrel by sticking a dowel down it with the bolt closed and it came out to 16.1", which is exactly what I asked for. Highly recommended. No complaints. read more

Bay Area Gunsmithing - Gunsmith Near Me - Novato, California

Nathan is my go to guy for anything that's over my head. He's always very fair and timely with the work I have him do, it's always a quick turn around. There's very few gunsmiths that I've met that have his skill set as well as the proper equipment to do most everything that needs to be addressed. He's a true asset to the gun community. read more

Put an muzzle break on my Remington 700. Good communication and reasonable priced, quality of work is very high. Passionate guys doing great stuff read more

I read Nathan's Yelp reviews before "Darkening his Door". My fellow yelpers were on target. Good guy, knowledgeable and professional. He has now completed work on two of my guns and has a third that he is working on now. He is my go to guy now. The only drawback is turn around time. Because it is so "politically incorrect" to be a gun owner, there are not alot of gunsmiths in the area. Because of the high demand and Nathan's high quality of work, he is in high demand. But rest assured, it is worth the wait. I absolutely love the Apex Trigger that he installed in my M&P .40. Give him a shot, He will deliver the goods. read more

In an industry where having a gruff, unfriendly attitude seems to be a badge of honor, Nathan is exceptional in all ways: the quality and speed of his work, his friendly, relaxed demeanor, the honesty of charging you the fair value of his time and not some outrageous rate. I had an extremely stubborn stuck case I couldn't fix and and my local gun store couldn't fix despite their best efforts. Other gunsmiths quoted a minimum of $100 and said they'd have to cut into the barrel chamber to resolve it. I was in and out within 10 minutes, 80% of which we spent chatting. read more

I had my BCG stuck in the forward position. I'm so glad that I took my rifle to Nathan. Rather than damaging my rifle by trying to pry the BCG back or acting in frustration, the smart choice was to take it to a professional. Nathan looked it over and had the issue resolved in 10 minutes. It's definitely worth it to pay someone who knows what they're doing. Nathan is a great guy, extremely knowledgeable and I definitely recommend him. read more

At first glance, I could tell Nathan is great to work with and trustworthy. I dropped my rifle off less than a week ago and am currently waiting for his word to pick it up. I have high expectations due to what others have said, and I'm positive the results will exceed those expectations! He was the only person in the bay who was responsive and respectful to my questions. Looking forward to doing business with him in the future as well. read more

As a new gun owner, I'm in the learning phase and I appreciated Nathan's experience very much! He explained aspects to the gun I brought in, gave his honest recommendations (which did not entirely benefit him) and made me feel at ease as a woman, in a predominately male environment. read more

To keep it simple- as a first time customer today I will ALWAYS be returning to bay area gunsmithing for as long as they remain In business. Nathan is professional, understanding, and looking out for your best interest. Thanks Nathan! read more

I was referred to go see Nathan by the guys over at Bullseye in San Rafael. He was friendly, professional and seemingly wise well beyond his years. He took care of me in a professional manner, solved my problem, and got me out the door and on my way quickly. This guy is going to be me go-to solution for any gunsmithing needs going forward...highly recommended. read more

Nathan is a professional and passionate gunsmith. It was great dealing with him and he's a very honest person. Wishing him the best!

I brought my 16 gauge browning A5 to these guys with a broken safety and a cracked stock. They were able to fix the trigger well without breaking my stock so I could continue to use the gun for the rest of the season then get it replaced. It shot well the next weekend. They were very friendly.. good price... good work.. 5 stars for sure! So glad I found a great gunsmith locally. Big relief. read more

I feel like I'm only repeating what other reviewers have already said. "Nathan is great to deal with." I brought him a gun to have a muzzle break and scope mounted. He completed the job in just a couple of weeks fit and finish are superb. I will have him handling all of my gunsmithing needs from now on. read more

Took my old WWI styer 1912 pistol (102 years old) here to get cleaned and have parts replaced. Nathan and Dan were great. Learned a bit of history about its origins which was great and the pistol once finished was in perfect shape. Definitely recommend them. read more

I have been shooing for over 40 years and can fix most things that go wrong. Over the years I've had to take a few guns to other guns smiths for things I didn't have the tools for. Most of them did not do what I asked, but what they thought I needed. Nathan listens and does not bullshit or tell something to make himself look better. He's a hard working and damn good gunsmith. I had a great old Colt Revolver that needed the barrel replaced. He set the space perfect. Very good price. I would recommend him without question. read more

If there is a better gunsmith in California I'd like to meet him! Nathan has always done first-class work for me and at a fair price. He is an excellent communicator, extremely personable and very proficient technically. He always explains the issue and the remedy, the time and work involved and the cost. Nathan has done work for me to fix issues that the manufacturer's own guys have not been able to fix. I recommend him with no reservation or hesitation. read more

Needed some help with my AR upper in a pinch so I called up Nathan since he was the closest gunsmith in the area. He was very professional on the phone and I was impressed with his workshop. He had all the proper jigs for my upper so I knew this wasn't going to be a hack job. In the end it was a very quick turnaround and he came in under budget.. In my experience gun shops and gun smiths aren't the most customer friendly places, Nathan was very much not the norm, can't see going anywhere else for my gun needs read more

Nathan is very skilled, professional, organized and knowledgeable in his field- exactly what you hope for in someone handling your guns. I couldn't be happier with the way he runs his business. read more

Nathan couldn't have been better. Brought in my CZ semi-auto pistol with a weak strike on the primers (wouldn't fire). He diagnosed the problem, thoroughly cleaned it and had it ready the next day, all for a very reasonable price. Outstanding, friendly and excellent work. I plan to bring in a couple of 'projects' in the future. read more
