We loved going to Bavarian Grill! I was stationed in Heidelberg, Germany from 1989-1992 and I was assigned to the small town of Schwetzingen. Outside of the post where we lived were fields of spargel (white asparagus) that was famous in the area. Yesterday was our first time going to the new location of Bavarian Grill. It relocated to the former location of a Golden Corral. I was hesitant of how they were going to transform that location into what we were used to at the former location. I loved how the restaurant has little dining areas portioned off so it seemed more inviting and family style like you were at someone's house or at a neighborhood Gasthaus. My family was just blown away. This is so much better! They did a wonderful job with the remodeling and relocation. The food was first rate! I missed my Jaeger Schnitzel with mushrooms. I even had some white spargel on the side. Nice cold German Beer. We saw the train and even had some music from an accordion player. I would definitely check in and see when they have music. Authentic German food is becoming a rarity and Bavarian Grill does a nice job of fulfilling the German food cravings that my hungry belly often has. My go to is the Jägerschnitzel with red cabbage and their warmed herbed mustard potato salad. The menu will have their suggested side pairings but they are happy to substitute and add extras. Plenty of side options like spätzle, sauerkraut, creamy spinach and traditional German mixed salad. That may not even be half of the options and I love most of them. They have seasonal menus as well Spargel Fest and Schnitzel Fest menus. My most recent visit was for lunch and I have included photos of all the available menus. They have an incredibly expansive selection of great food. Of course the German options don't stop there. German beers for all tastes abound! Schnapps, wines, coffees and desserts are plentiful too. Finally the atmosphere is definitely European and extremely inviting as is the friendly service. I informed server I have a gluten allergy. I was brought out their gluten free menu which states gluten free not gluten friendly. I ordered an appetizer and their gluten free bread. I got violently ill and was in the bathroom when the main entrees came out. My son took a photo and showed me that they put his gluten entree in front of my seat and my gluten free to him. Informed him to switch it around so he would have his meal. When I came back to the table the owner asked me what was going on. I informed him of my severe allergy and asked if there was any way to make sure proper precautions were taken. He took offense to that and started gaslighting me saying food allergies take 3 hours to take effect and couldn't possibly be his food and that the menu doesn't say gluten free (at the top of the allergy menu it says it bold large lettering Gluten Free). I informed him that was not true and he said I had to pay for my entree even though I could not eat it and didn't even touch it. I was very sick and refused to argue with him any longer so my son and I left. As we were leaving the restaurant, two women (employees or managers) that we never saw once asked me what happened. I told them I got sick off the food, my food allergy wasn't taken seriously and had to pay for food I didn't eat nor couldn't eat. They then insisted I pay again. I told them I already paid (in money and physically) and would not be paying again. I did not appreciate them calling me a thief. They then got defensive and started gaslighting me saying that was no way to talk to them. I cursed them out in Polish and left. Most of the staff is Toxic. I'll be honest, I forgot to take pictures of the food however, Bavarian grill was soooo good and it impressed me in many ways. The ambience of this place was amazing they had live music the whole time and it felt very inviting. People were buying drinks for the singer and it was just a great time. The waitress that helped us was super patient and communicative and helped us with the gluten free menu. Speaking of, the gluten free menu is extensive and tasted really good. My girlfriend appreciates that. I will say, if you can still go for the non-gluten-free options. My friend's jeager snitzel was sooo good. As he put it "it was fire" The bread they give out is really good and the beer we had was amazing. Everything was just top notch! Some suggestions: First their menu is very shareable. Especially if your girlfriend doesn't eat a lot . I would also say their beer is worth trying. The glass is quite big and it was really good. I want to be clear: I have gone to Bavarian Grill x 20 years, typically quarterly. I love their recipes, my family has grown up doing the chicken dance with Alan, I've had toasts with Jurgen, and I know exactly what I'm in for. Since the move, things have gone off the rails, and it's not just growing pains. I think a majority of the issues revolve around staffing. They are perpetually understaffed. While standing at the bar (for 60 minutes waiting for my 7pm reservation) I counted 28 unwashed beer glasses sitting at the server station. Ticket after ticket sat there waiting for someone to fill the beer glass. 100% of the steins I saw go out were underfilled, likely a consequence of air in the lines plus a barely-18 year old bartender filling them with foam. The whole bar area stank like a frat house on Sunday morning. At $10-12/glass, and quite literally the major revenue generator, someone has to take care of the bar. The prices have always been on the edge of reasonable. I attributed that to overhead: keeping fresh German beer and food in stock isn't cheap. Plus you have to cover the cost of the musicians. I get it, it's dinner and a show. The new prices, however, have gone over that edge. When the entrees average $30, you're now in the premium dining realm. That means the experience and the quality have to match that price. Example: $10 for a pretzel is obscene. You wouldn't even find that pricing at an NFL game. The nickel & dime-ing for bread is especially irritating. The large charcuterie platter comes with 4 small rolls. When we ran out halfway through, waiter offered to bring 2 more rolls for $8. Sigh...... I want Bavarian Grill (and Jurgen) to succeed in the new place. If the issues above can be remedied, we will be back, as we have for many years. read more

Sat down ,nobody even come and greet us for another 15 mins ,and still waiting.At this point,how good of the food is doesn't even matter,the service and management is absolutely horrible. Updated,we finally called a waiter to our table to ask if anyone is going to serve us. He was very nice and took care of us ,still don't know who actually waits this table after sit here for 20 mins while other waitresses just passing our table and totally ignored us. In all honesty this was the single worst dining experience I have ever had. After 17 minutes after being seated and no server coming to our table, I had to ask the hostess if we had one. She was very nice, apologized, and even told our drink order. After we ordered, our waitress finally came back 45 minutes later. We asked what the hold up was and she said it typically takes 45-60 minutes on weekends. After nothing for a while, I told her if it was not there in 10 minutes I wanted to just get the check for drinks and leave. She said okay and they finally delivered our meal 1 hour and 15 minutes after we ordered and ignored my request. Sadly after all that time what I ordered was incorrect. I ordered wiener schnitzel and it came with some strange gravy on it. I told them to just take it back and I didn't want any anything else. The manager brought something back a few minutes later and said he had it remade and he would not charge me. After dealing with all of that I take a couple of bites and learn the manager tried to get away with giving me fried pork, instead of veal. I find this pretty reprehensible for a restaurant to try to do that. Even is the service was good, I would never go back after that act of dishonesty. I told the waitress, but the manager never came back over. We paid more than $120 for food that took 75 minutes to arrive after it took 20 minutes to get a waitress to our table. Most of it sat uneaten. No discount, no apology from a manager, nothing. As for the other food, the sauerkraut was very good, the sausages were pretty good, and everything else was inedible. We spent a week in Bavaria and Austria in September and none of their food even compared. The pork knuckle was not edible and the spatzle was dry and flavorless. This is my fourth visit and it won't be my last! It has a warm atmosphere with friendly wait staff decked out In Bavarian style dress with one young man in his alpine hat or hut. The hostess is always bustling around escorting guests to their tables. Each time I've been here there is an accordionist who plays with lots of gusto and last time there was a large table that seemed to join in on most songs!! As to the food, I've had the five sausage plate twice and there is plenty left over for a lunch! Tonight I have the ham hock. And it was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. Harrison, my waiter didn't steer me wrong! Plenty left over again for lunch tomorrow! I've had the streusel here and very tempted to order it again but hard to do when you only finish off half your main dish! Next time maybe when I'll leave more room. Absolutely recommend this place. The ambiance is so friendly and welcoming. It's some of the best German food we've had in Texas, for sure. When I walked in, you will notice the decor is definitely all German, Oktoberfest related. It's cozy on the inside. Outdoor seating is available but it was too cold for that. As we were seated, there was a guy playing the accordion and singing. He was throughly entertaining. He sung in German and English. He also had the restaurant crowd participating. It was lively! The bread brought to the table were pumpernickel and an onion garlic roll. The latter was tasty. For apps, I was the only one to get the gulasch. Well seasoned! The beef and pork were so tender. The broth had a good amount of paprika, onion and bell peppers. Simple and delicious. The 5 sausage platter could really be split between 2 people. Generous portions of sauerkraut and spatzle (tiny pasta dumplings) complemented the sausages. There was a mustard sauce and mushroom gravy to dip into. If you have a picky eater, the roasted chicken with French fries is a good choice. The meat was tender and flavorful. The pretzel crusted schnitzel is where it's at. I ordered mine with spatzle, red cabbage and sauerkraut. Crispy coated and very tender, the schnitzel is fantastic. The cabbage sides (red and sauerkraut) complemented the richness of the schnitzel and bock bier (beer) caraway sauce. This dish was recommended by our server. He was helpful with his recommendations from the menu. For dessert, the decadent Black Forest chocolate cake with cherries was worth it. Highly recommend this place. It pains me to write this review. I grew up in Germany my dad was stationed there in the army. Tonight I went to Bavarian grill with a couple of friends to enjoy the ambience and enjoy German food. I used to go to Bavarian grill all of the time for a lunch snitzel. Now they've moved here to a shitty Golden Corral restaurant. That's fine and all. But here's the deal. We ordered 2 snitzels and 1 chicken Caesar salad. A few liters of beer. And because they want to charge 12.fucking.50 per white asparagus sprig, we're now walking out with a 200 tab. Number 1) pork snitzel consists of a 2 dollar piece of meat, pounded and flattened, covered in egg wash and panko crumbs which I'll be generous, maybe a 6 dollar ordeal. 2) a chicken Caesar salad is 0 dollars plus (let's be generous again) 3 dollars for the chicken. 3) a liter of beer that tastes like refreshing horse piss they charge 9 dollars per 16 oz. There is something wrong here. Where are the bells? (Bells you say? What bells?) oh, we'll fucking get to that. So the two folks I'm with get their main dishes with hollandaise coating their uncrusted snitzels with two big ole sprigs of white asparagus on top. Still looked delicious and the eating proved that. Delicious meal. But is that a 48 dollar plate? 2 shittily pounded pork filets covered with hollandaise and two pieces of white asparagus? The answer is no. You can do this at home. My salad or 'salat' if we're being "fancy" and pretending to speak German. Trash. Absolute trash. I asked my friend to taste a piece of the chicken because I was like "did they just run a butane torch over this chicken? " my friend said no 'that's smoked chicken'. Bullshit. It tastes like someone "smoked" my chicken by spraying it with butane and bug spray. The croutons were old and gross, and the salad dressing tasted like it was on the edge of expiration. Meanwhile, every time we got into a meaningful conversation someone was having a birthday weeeeee. Let's get out more bullshit and bang around poorly played cowbells in the tune of happy birthday. This happened 7 times. Even the accordion player was like wtf? I won't be back. Because 56 bucks for a shitty chicken Caesar 'salat' and 164 dollars for unbreaded, hollandaise coated(oh they weren't thin either), trash pork with two 12.50 sprigs of white asparagus is just too expensive. HORRIBLE! AN ENTIRE BIRTHDAY EVENING RUINED! so so so upsetting! If I was able to post a zero star I would! Had family in and wanted to show them a nice time and celebrate a very special birthday. Called the Bavarian Grill as we have been to the old location many times before and it was always great. Any how I called and was advised that for 6 people they had reservations available at 8:15 - I asked if the music/entertainment would still be happening at that time and they assured me that yes it doesn't stop until closing - I was not told that they now close at 9 pm - We arrived and as soon as we checked in the host told us "just so you know we close at 9"- which was very off putting to be greeted as such ...so we asked is there a reason you are telling us this? Has the kitchen started to shut down or another reason why you would tell a guest this upon arrival WITH RESERVATIONS .. she said No but we are just told to tell people .. hmm ok..? of course the thought is that we are being told as -1- they really don't want us here or -2- they dont want us here long .. or -3- food and or entertainment will be subpar. We were seated .. and after several minutes a server came over and we already knew it would be a treat omg she was so rude .. no smile .. and seemed annoyed at our presence.. we also noticed no music so thought we should ask prior to order in case we needed to go elsewhere.. so we asked and we were told that the entertainment would be back that he just took a break - well he NEVER RETURNED it was silent the entire time .. we even told them the importance in advance as we had a birthday.. upon asking the server again she said Im not sure I'll find out and then no response except did we want anything else for starters? A man came to the table and told us that the entertainment usually ends a bit before 8:30 and we should have been told - .. well we were not! Embarrassing as we had really hyped this place up! We ordered starters and had questions in between but were told limited information or "not sure if the kitchen can make right now" we ordered Brie and a Pretzel it took so long but we finally got it ... we proceeded to place our order and clearly having it been the first time for all but two of us there were questions - the first was about the potatoes we asked were they smashed red potatoes or traditional seasoned mashed - her response was " not real , from a box but seasoned well so you can't tell" okay..wont be ordering those!! next was about the gravy on the schnitzel as one in our party called it "gravy" instead of sauce..the response " we don't have gravy" so I said they meant the sauce ..which of the "sauces" have the most spice and flavor for the breaded schnitzel she said the "Paprika Schnitzel"- well we ended up with a plain not breaded cutlet - not at all what we wanted. Everyone was pretty clueless as to what to order and had questions that clearly this server was not wanting to answer, I have yet to encounter such a Rude server especially here and on a day that was supposed to be special... it was extremely disheartening - the entire evening was ruined. The food was terrible and wrong .. the server was extremely rude drinks were not refreshed and we paid a fortune. I will never go back as this was... what should have been a special memory - turned into an embarrassing disaster .. We are so so upset at the entire situation, and I cannot believe any owner would allow this behavior from a server who is supposed to be "service oriented" not to count - being greeted with "we close at 9" in addition to a list of other issues that are too lengthy to mention. I went with one of the guys on my team. We went here because it was across the parking lot from my hotel. Our server was very kind but to the point it was a little goofy. I wasn't sure if his accent was real or part of an act but I think that what made him seem a little odd. We both started with a beer. I ordered the Haufbras Dunkel. The server asked me if I wanted a half liter or liter. I ordered a liter and didn't realize how much beer that was. I couldn't finish the whole thing. They were at the end of a seasonal mushroom menu so I went with the Mushroom Pork Schnitzel with the vegetable medley and cream spinach. Everything was excellent. The gravy the mushrooms were is was really good. The cream spinach went well with the veggies and schnitzel. The veggies were sautéed carrots and onions. It was so much food I could only finish about half so I took the rest back to the hotel. I brought the left over with me in the field the next day for lunch. Everything was pretty good even when it was just lukewarm. I'm not in Plano often but I'll definitely swing by next time I'm in town. read more

The food was delicious! There was 6 of us in the party. We all work together, so this get together made it even more fun! I was the only one that had been here before. This ended up being a huge treat since live music was being performed. Fantastic customer participation with the fella on the accordion. He's funny too! The beer is really good too! When you first enter the hostess will have you scan a menu onto your phone. What a great idea. That way I don't have to touch a menu that I don't know if it's been properly cleaned. Didn't get a lot of pics since everyone dove into the food before I could get my camera out. Most folks I eat with on a regular basis indulge me at least with one photo! But all good. They so enjoyed the food. This is a great place to eat, enjoy the atmosphere and have a great time visiting with your company. Will I return? You bet! Bavarian Grill has been a family favorite for years and years. It's where out of town family always wants to go when they visit and where they're most jealous of when we go without them. Lively, jovial atmosphere, knowledgeable service, fantastic selection of German beers and we've never had a bad meal there. After spending 3 years in Germany serving in the Air Force, I fell in love with German Food and the amazing culture. Craving German Food during Octoberfest was a great time to enjoy Bavarian Grill again. Starting with the basket of assorted German Breads and butter, we chose the Weihenstephaner Vitus Bock as suggested by our waiter. I satisfied all my German Food cravings in 1 plate enjoying Sauerbraten, Spätzle, red cabbage and warm herbed mustard potato salad. Absolutely delicious in every bite! My Beautiful Cynthia enjoyed Garlic and Lemon Schnitzel and creamy spinach. We added Gulasch Suppe, Black Forest Cake and Prinz Regenten Chocolate Torte to take home. Was nearby again (have been here a number of times) and decided to stop by and I am always glad I did. They have been in business for over 2 years at this location at another for 30 years). They have a great selection of beers (40 taps and bottles/cans over 40). Service was quick, friendly, and attentive (thanks Riley and Drake). Full bar and great German food menu. Room for large parties, both out or private rooms. I love the brot (bread) with butter and sausages. They have events, so check their website. I'm a fan of German food, beer and culture in general. This place has all of them. It's a bit of a trip from home, but worth it. I particularly like the Spargelzeit (asparagus season) in spring. First visit this past weekend. I was in the area and decided to try this place out after hearing about it from different sources. The inside is beautiful, wonderfully decorated in a provincial German style that sets the mood for a good dining experience. There were accordion players in both dining rooms during my visit which added to the nice ambience. I dined at the bar, built in a cozy manner. My issues with the restaurant arose after receiving my order. Apparently my order was placed as a to-go order. I received it in a bag at the bar while enjoying some bread. The bartender came over and acknowledged the issue, however,he did not correct it. In fact, he told me I should consider myself lucky,since they usually charge for the to-go container. Are you kidding?! After this, I was not in the mood to eat or hang out. I mentioned the issue to the bar manager, another shrug. The food was good. I really enjoyed my draft Paulaner Hefeweizen, my favorite German beer that I couldn't forget after my trip to Frankfurt, Germany, and I can confirm that the taste of the beer was exactly like what I had in Germany. The pork ham hock was a highlight, and to my surprise, it tasted very mild, not saltish at all, and very crispy. It was a very enjoyable dish. I don't know about the food as I never got to any. I came in solo so was seated at the bar. I was told by the barmaid that she'd be with me in a minute. As a person alone I have absolutely nothing to do but wait for service. She should have handed me a menu. I would not have taken two seconds but she did not. So I waited and I waited and I waited for the many people buzzing around the bar to notice and hand me a menu, by no. After 10 minutes I have had enough and walk out.
