We stopped in during lunch, and I ordered the catfish with yams and greens. It also comes with cornbread. Everything was SO good! But that cornbread?! Ooh whew! It was the bomb, almost like dessert. I could've eaten another piece by itself! The only thing I wasn't a huge fan of was the yams. They were a little too sweet for my liking. The inside has a cool, laid-back vibe, and the service was great. After struggling to find some good food during our visit, Double Down Bistro definitely came through!

I told her it was my first visit but honestly, she didn't seem to care much. I ordered the Grilled Chicken Thighs with potatoes and Mac & Cheese for the sides. When she dropped off the food, she left me with a plastic knife and fork. I could not get her attention, and another waitress was kind enough to get me some metal utensils to eat with.  The chicken is very good, nicely seasoned, tender, and the BBQ side sauce is very tasty with this chicken. The potatoes are very good but the Mac & Cheese was more cheese and few noodles. Overall a decent meal but the service was not very friendly or helpful.

Stopped for Lunch and I gotta throw a shout out to this place for having the best chicken wings in…read morethe area. They currently have a dozen wings and a side for about $10. These are not the cheap scrawny chicken wings that you get at most places. These wings are plump and juicy. You can get them boneless, traditional, or smoked in variety of sauces to include the Alabama white BBQ sauce which is awesome. I got a side of the well seasoned french fries. They never disappoint either. The service has spot on. We were greeted as soon as we enter and greeter by our server as soon as we were seated. They also offer a daily meat and 3 in full portion and senior portion sizes. You can't go wrong with the wings, sandwiches, or the meat and 3 for lunch. Only down side is they play Frank Sinatra throughout the lunch and not subtly. Not that I don't enjoy a good Sinatra song every now and again, but it's loud and constantly playing! In my opinion, the music does not match the mood during the lunch serving. Other than that, we love this place..

Our server was a first rate kidder, nearly a comedian, and he made us laugh out loud every time he came to our table. The half and half tea was surely a liter, which our host refille. I want to come back for dinner because the dinner menu is amazing. But what leaves an impression is the ambience. From the unassuming outside, you think you're headed into a 50's coastal restaurant. The inside is something else! It's enormous, with several separate sections, each with a different feel, and its own bar. You could host a large event here! Pirate statues? It's fun to walk around and see what has been collected over the years and is now displayed. I'll see you at dinner...

Sometimes it can get loud in certain locations, but that was never a real issue. Today, I had the seasonal special of the "Chimichurri Steak & Eggs Hash". WOW! It was impressive. Everything was perfectly seasoned, well-cooked, and plated beautifully. I also had the "French Toast". It was sweet but enjoyable. We had an incredibly positive visit, and we will visit there again.

My travel companion really enjoyed her chicken. One issue I had was that the entire store from the floor to the tables seemed to be covered in grease or oil and it was hard to find a clean table. I didn't try the food during this visit, but it is typical bar food with fun names. You grab a glass near the self service tap wall and proceed to the taps. I also think there's an in-house limit to prevent you from getting too drunk, but all you would have to do is go back to the register for a reset. I enjoyed the available sour options, some local and some from other areas, and found a couple that I need to find in store! The crowd was light since it was weekday night after a Biscuits game. Vintage Year is a small, intimate restaurant, so it was difficult to understand how comments this loud and inappropriate could go unnoticed or unaddressed by management. For a restaurant that presents itself as an upscale dining experience, this was a terrible choice for date night. We expected good service and a comfortable atmosphere and received neither. We will never set foot in this place again. If you value your self-respect and your hard-earned dollar, I strongly suggest spending it somewhere else.
