Stopped in on our drive from NC to TX to get a quick bite to eat and a beer. Exceeded our expectations! It was super busy as to be expected on a football Saturday, but we found two stools by the bar that worked just fine. Enjoyed a couple cold brews and wings, then treated ourselves to the dessert (see pic) - it was one of the best things I've ever tasted, no lie. Definitely a good place to come with groups / families for decent food and/or to watch the game at the bar. The free popcorn in the front was a nice touch, too! read more

Unreasonably long wait for an average lunch crowd. The food was overpriced and average at best in both flavor and ingredients. Our server was excellent but the rest of the staff was rude and uninterested. The atmosphere is dated and not very clean. This was a disappointing experience. I have seen this place throughout my business travels in Alabama, but had never stopped until today when I went to a business lunch there. I was told they were known for their wings and being a fan of hot and spicy food, I chose their cajun hottest level of heat. We also had an order of fried pickles as an appetizer. I got the triple decker burger, another friend got the Poboy, another the gumbo, and others got various food, but we all loved our meals! The best chicken sandwhich I have ever tasted. Decided to try this spot randomly while searching for good chicken spots and stumbled across this unique bar with the best sandwhich. Who would of known buffalo chicken which bacon would be so delicious. I am a sucker also for a great toasted bun. The service was excellent, and the sever made sure to check on us frequently and the wait for the food was a little long but worth it. I would definitely recommend this spot read more

Food was good but service was absolutely terrible. Asked for water like 3 times and never got a glass. Took another 10 minutes to get separate checks even then all 1/2 the checks were wrong. Eventually the manager had to settle 2 out of 12 of the checks because it was taking us 30mins to get our cards back. If you want to settle for some you really should settle for all. How do you justify who gets a free meal and who doesn't. Portion is decent but never going back again read more

I'm in town from Texas visiting family and friends. Had lunch with a friend on Monday at this restaurant. I had been here before, several years ago, when it first opened. At first, I was apprehensive. The reason being, last time I was here (4 years ago), the food and service was sub-par. I'm happy to say that is no longer the case. The food and service was excellent. My FAVORITE PLACE TO EAT!!!! We drive Two hours to eat at BAUMHOWER'S in Montgomery, Ala. and it is always so worth it!!! Wings are our favorite and of course the Onion strings are phenomenal!!!! They are all so friendly, the food is Amazing and the restaurant is very clean. Overall Great atmosphere! So today I was finally getting to use my Baumhower's gift card from Christmas. As we were having lunch, Mr Neil came to our table and asked us how our meal was? "AWESOME AS ALWAYS!!!!" I said. He came back with the phone and said someone wanted to speak to me. Yes, it was MR. BAUMHOWER!!!!! He was so appreciative that we would drive that far to eat at his restaurant. How AWESOME is it that he would take time out of his day to call and speak to me? Another Montgomery plan ole restaurant. Nothing special about this place. We ordered an appetizer and drinks. Everything came out at once....and was never asked if I wanted more JW and the same with my better 1/2. Montgomery has a serious issue in the restaurant department, which is why we tend to stay in Cloverdale for a REAL meal with great service, which is hard to find. I had dinner at Baumhowers this weekend with my family. What a great night! We had the best server ever... Gabe. Gabe was on spot with everything from taking orders, getting our drinks out promptly, honoring any special requests we had for the kids. Gabe was awesome! Our meals were perfect and plentiful. Went to Baunhowers in the RSA tower downtown for lunch. Always love the gooey fries! The food was delicious. The staff was amazing. The Manager on Duty Mr.Luther Bullock was phenomenal during lunch rush downtown! He made the overall visit a big success! We will definitely be going back soon. Montgomery resturant trifecta : overpriced...check inattentive staff...check marginal food...check This was my third trip to this location for a lunch and in this case it's three strikes and you're out. I think Baumhower is lucky to be in this location where lunch choices are limited.and the audience is mostly captive. I can't imagine why it's popular. read more

The greeter tried to seat us in a booth overlooking the kitchen when we'd asked for a table, then failed to bring the popcorn he offered. One strikeout. Quickly our server, Eric S, greeted us and from there on it was a Home Run! Eric brought the popcorn and drinks arrived quickly. We started with a pound of hot Korean seasoned wings and they were tasty and not at all oily. Our main courses were grilled chicken salad with their buttermilk ranch dressing and the black & white chicken wrap. The white sauce is wonderful and was perfect with the wrap. I could only eat half and just finished the leftover half and it was still great. Beer was cold Yuengling. It's been a long time since we had such an attentive and helpful server, especially at a moderately priced informal restaurant. Eric had great suggestions, checked on us without ever interrupting and never left us looking for assistance. He always had a smile and positive attitude. Eric S. should be training and mentoring your staff, too. Too harsh to deny 5 stars based on the greeter's strikeout? It just reflects the concept that your business doesn't get a second chance to make a first impression. Next time we're in Montgomery we'll be back. Went for lunch and had a great time. Our server Spence went above and beyond. Very personable and professional. Our order came up quick and was just as ordered. I had a snack size wing (about 5 in an order) and Gooey fries upgrade. The fries had white cheese sauce and bacon. I could hear my arteries yelling just looking at them but they were excellent! Great place! It's in a downtown office building so you don't expect to find a great sports bar/restaurant there; look for the small sign outside the building. Everyone was SUPER friendly; servers, manager etc. Huge menu with tons of options. And good prices too. We had the wings sampler for an appetizer. It comes with 16 wings, three flavors. Great crispy skin, good flavors. Honey BBQ was the best - so sweet and spicy. Delicious. I had the jamaican jerk sandwich, husband had a bleu cheese bacon burger. Large portions, great flavors and both sandwiches came with green lettuce, tomatoes, red onions and pickles. All good quality, fresh and ripe. For dessert, we had their strawberry shortcake which was amazing. Beautiful presentation, huge portion, good mix of warm, crispy cake, sweet cream, cool ice cream and fresh strawberries. We had waters, a soda, appetizer, two entrees and a dessert for under $40. There were lots of TV's around with sports on, so this would be a great place during football etc. season.
