I used their website which I found easy and user-friendly. I even got a delivery confirmation email, which was great. However, I chose a dozen pink roses and added a pink ribbon for an extra charge to send my mother-in-law who just broke her hip and then had to put her 16 year old kitty down after a long bout with illness. I wanted to send something to cheer her up. When she thanked me and sent me a picture it was a beautiful arrangement of red roses with a pink ribbon. I'm happy the flowers made her happy, but I wish they had contacted me by phone or by email so that I could have chosen a different color, because then I would've chosen white or yellow with a matching ribbon. Even with the red arrangement I would've preferred a matching red ribbon. Red is a little too romantic for my MIL in my opinion. Overall, I thought they looked good in the picture and they made her happy, so I will likely order from here in the future, but I will call or specify alternate preferences in the comments on my online order next time.

Unfortunately, I received an email about 5 days before I was due to pick up the arrangement essentially advising that my selection was no longer available because the flowers wouldn't be in season the month of December. Huh? They explained that they would do their best but I asked for a refund instead. Apparently there was a website issue that allowed the purchase to go through but shouldn't have. Disappointed and frustrated, I placed a last minute birthday order with a large corporation and tried to put the matter behind me. Well color me surprised when the Flowers & Fancies team sent me an arrangement to apologize for the error. I was shocked, surprised, and necessarily reminded that mistakes happen and it's best to have patience and understanding, especially for local, well meaning businesses. No image of the suggested substitute was included in the email. How on earth am I expected to be able to approve something when I haven't a clue what it looks like? The color of the container depicted on their website makes the flowers in the arrangement "pop". Otherwise, the arrangement is nondescript. I immediately requested an image of the suggested substitute, I still haven't received it. So this morning I sent an email to cancel the order and to issue a credit to my credit card if it had been billed already. That was an hour ago, no reply. Because they close at 11:00 AM today (a half hour from now), I called the shop a few minutes ago and reached their answering machine. They don't answer their emails, they don't answer their phone, they don't have in stock what's depicted on their website. They should have a system so that, as the inventory is depleted, it's automatically reordered and always in stock. This place operates very unprofessionally. I will never order from them again and, based upon my experience with them, I advise others to go elsewhere, too.

Now, she put together a plan to minimize the water flooding our backyard and ruining our grass so that we'll have more privacy and NO maintenance for our lawn and foliage. It included installing schip laurel trees that would spread across our back fence to provide privacy. She also installed - or shall I say her workers installed - a groundcover that was to spread across and keep weeds out. She said all we had to do was apply Preen each season, which we did religiously. Unfortunately, the ground cover was overtaken by weeds each of the past two summers and takes hours upon hours of weeding since we cannot mow over it all. The attached photo is just a tiny fraction of the weeds I pulled this mornin Two of the trees drowned within a year. Her team replaced them and now they've drowned again. We did have record rain over the past year. Linda did say even though it has been over a year since the install that she'd replace the trees with a more hardy variety that can withstand the water and revert our lawn back to grass, it has been two months since we discussed that and we're still waiting for it to happen. She cited that part of the delay was that they were really behind between all the rain we've had and a stall in getting her non-U.S. visa workers lined up. It took a long time, but Linda's team came back last year to replace the trees and they are finally flourishing!

The hardscaping came out beautiful; however, when we noticed it starting to crack, Linda Luke and her crew manager kept putting blame on us and then began ignoring my calls and emails. So I went to a local stone store to ask for their opinion and they said the crack was caused due to a lack of drainage. VG did not create proper drainage options for the hardscaped flower bed, causing the stone to crack. We are now left with a dilemma of either leaving the 7' crack as is or spending over $1000 to have the other stone company fix it properly...all because Linda would not take ownership of their work. In addition, our potted evergreen began losing it needles immediately and, once again, they did not take ownership of the issue and continued to ignore our complaints. Bottom line: Be aware, guaranteed work doesn't mean follow through and customer satisfaction.
