When I pointed it out to the cashier, the reply was "the price on the display is wrong" - no apology or other explanations or offering me to still charge me accordingly to what the tag said. They just called someone to change the tag. When I asked about the manager or someone in charge, they said that no one there is available. Instead of appreciating customers and trying to be nice, they just simply don't care.

The price was reasonable for what was offered and the location enables easy shopping at a few top grocery stores and major hardware stores. The only caveat here is that the public roads approaching the farm have some distinct blind spots, so be careful driving and honk your horn on tight turns. The driveway needs some deep worn areas filled in with stone to make it more level, but otherwise it is very accessible. The CSA is available from Friday-Sunday and you pay first and then collect the produce outside in your own bag/box. The market also had some baked items, frozen meats and jarred goods available. I highly recommend the farm animal cupcakes with the cutest faces and the creamiest frosting!

Once in, you are given instructions on how to pick the tulips. Your ticket includes 6 tulips and then each additional stem $1 and each additional bulb is $1. The weather was AMAZING and there were so many cute photo ops in the field. This is a very family friendly place, including infants and babies! After we picked our tulips, we sat around to take in the view. When we were ready to check out, there were stations to trim the ends and take the tulips in a water cup. The property this weekend had music, cidery, farm animals, and other cute fun barn games for kids. I highly recommend you to check out the farm!

They deliver a box of meat right to my doorstep once a month and the program is very similar to a CSA. I decided to take a drive out and see the farm and store and I'm very glad I did. The farm is beautiful and the animals are obviously taken good care of. I was able to meet the owner, who was working in the store. She was very nice and answered all of our questions. She encouraged us to try a cut of meat I hadn't purchased before and gave me some great tips on how to prepare it. The store also has a wide variety of locally made products ranging for bakery items to jams/jellies to some delicious cocktail mixers. They also had a variety of beautiful fruits and veggies. If you are of the growing trend of consumers realizing the importance of knowing where your food comes from and how it is produced, this is a great option. I'm so lucky to have found LD and that the farm is close.

A recent example entails bone-in chicken breasts for grilling. Grocery store packages provide breasts that are too big; too many calories are consumed and/or some is wasted. Bullock's are more portion-sized appropriate and always are fresh. So stocking up a bit for summer, I recently stopped in and asked for 10 breasts, separated into five pairs, as we are only two people. The helpful clerk asked whether my plan was freezing. When I told her it was, she said "let me wrap them in freezer paper for you, labeled. Without an upcharge. And without asking. You don't find this measure of intuitive customer service in many places nowadays. Maybe sometimes greater economy can be found someplace, but never greater overall value, when freshness, quality and customer service also are considered.
