We were visiting the area for an alpaca show and had to stop. Their custard is fantastic. Very flavorful, well formed, creamy and smooth. They had a nice variety of flavors of custard. We got gelatis- with Italian ice mixed in layers. The ice was so-so. We tried three different flavors. All were ok. Flavor was minimal. Could have been stronger with the fruits and flavors. The biggest issue was the consistency of the ice. This was more frozen crystals than the smoother texture of Italian ice. Not sure if it's always that way or the batch was old and more frozen than normal. read more

Everything was so fresh! I could tell that both the custard and the whipped topping were made in store. They also had a lot of options to choose from. The Cow is by far my favorite place to stop when I am home every summer, my kids beg to go as soon as we cross the Maryland state line. their gelati is the go to treat, sweet Italian ice in a million flavors , topped with your choice of a few custard flavors. Mango with vanilla, banana with chocolate, pistachio with chocolate, black raspberry with vanilla, bubble gum with chocolate/vanilla twist....the combinations are practically endless!! First time to this ice cream joint but definitely wasn't disappointed! I ordered coffee frozen custard with chocolate sprinkles and it was incredible. Very creamy custard and the regular size was plenty. A couple things to note: -this place does accept credit cards but there is a 2.5-3% fee assessed to pass along the credit card charge costs. I recommend bringing cash -there are a lot of Italian ice flavors that are probably delicious, but there are also several frozen custard flavors, very similar to Rita's (but better IMO) I'm going to return and try all of the different flavors! read more

It's meh ice cream. Nothing special. But the customer service is horrific. Ask them for an extra cup or spoon and they literally won't give you one. I asked for a small extra cup to split with my toddler he comes back with some sort of dip cup that wouldn't even fit the spoon. So annoying when employees act like it's coming out of their check and can't just provide customer service. I won't be back. Stingy. read more

HUGE servings and great taste(sometimes). We have been 4 years times and last time my custard was very grainy... great flavor but off putting. So why 4 stars? Because this only seems to happen to me, so it seems like a 10% chance of it happening and the size/taste/cost keep us coming back! For warning, the menu isn't very clear and a bit overwhelming so you'll need to ask to really "directions" to really get the greatness of this place! read more

I really want to like this place, but the cheapness of the cups and their inability to even let you buy another cup ruins the whole experience. The cups are so flimsy that melted ice cream comes out of the cup and drips down the side immediately. It's just a sticky, uncomfortable mess. They should just sell a reusable cup if they're trying to cut costs. As for the gelati, it has way too much custard and not enough ice, even when I asked for more ice than custard. read more

Love coming to the Cow! I always get a cherry gelati with vanilla custard. The sizes are fairly large for the price and the custard is extremely creamy and delicious. The lines here can get pretty long, but it's definitely worth the wait. read more

Allow me to preface this by saying I love the actual custard at the Cow. It is much richer and creamier than Rita's. I've never had problems with the high schoolers making me whatever sundae combination I want. Tonight was a little different. A teenage boy was working and when I asked for a banana split made with vanilla custard and hot fudge, peanut butter, and strawberry topping, he flat out refused. He said he could not add a third topping because it only comes with 2. I asked if I could just pay for an extra topping and he said no. Is it just me, or when a customer offers to throw an extra couple dollars toward a topping that cost maybe 10 cents, shouldn't a business be on board with that? Other ice cream joints in the area (that make their own ice cream also!) let me and anyone else customize because it is important to keep a good fan base beyond the tasty product. I hope the management looks at these and gives a little leniency toward their employees to allow customization of orders. Otherwise I will just order a large banana, hot fudge, peanut butter and strawberry sundae next time. Same thing, fools! read more

Really great ice cream, it's just super unfortunate that they let a child eat an ice cream cone with it dripping all over his hands because it's "against policy" to give out a cup. Mind you the cups are not made out of gold, they are flimsy plastic cups. The mother also offered to pay for the cup and it was again denied. So even though you pay for the ice cream and the cone you are not entitled to a cheap cup of it starts dripping. Have fun fighting off ants. read more

This is just a great place to get a nice treat on a sunny day. Myself, children, and other half had a great time. The ice cream itself was mediocre. The service however was terrible. We came to pick up some ice cream and take it to a friend's house. After waiting a long time for the only employee there to make the order, it was already melting badly. We asked for them to put the ice cream in bigger cups or something so we could transport them without getting melted ice cream everywhere. They point blank refused to help in any way. The Cow has a wide selection of flavors for their Italian ice line. They also have fairly low prices for the amount of custard/ice they give out. Ask for napkins if you get larger sizes as it melts fast. Best ice cream I have had in a long time. Line me moves fast and everyone I have had wait on us has been nice and pleasant.

Against my better judgement, my family and I went back to the cow. Instead of the thin cheap non-insulated cups, we ordered cones, thinking they would provide a little insulating factor. The ice cream was melted, and the sprinkles dripping down the cone on my way back to the car. My oldest childs ice cream was slipping off the cone as soon as I gave it to her because it was melting so badly. So I ran back to the counter to get a cup to catch it in. NOPE, they wouldn't give me a cup (a cheap cup) I just spent $12 there, when there are 10 other places within a mile of this place to get ice cream, and they wouldn't give me a cup. So 2 out of the 4 ice cream cones were thrown out, my car was a disaster, and so was everyone's clothes and hands. But wait, it is a counter, not a sit down place, so we had to drive home without being able to wash our hands (and legs!) Never again. This owner needs to quit being so frugal and turn down the temp in the cooler and invest in some Styrofoam or cardboard cups! YOU ARE SELLING ICE CREAM! read more

Ive been going to the cow for many years. Ever since the reisterstown store open I just left. This. Has happened the last month. I usually go almost every night. I get twists to go. But, lately the portion has gotten smaller and smaller. They used to pile it on. Now it barely even goes to the rim. This time I got 2 large twists and a hot fudge sunday. They were 2 inches below the the top of the cup. My hot fudge sundae didn't even cover half the cup. It had hot fudge. But, maybe a tablespoon of frozen yogurt. If this is the new standard. I'm going to dairy queen. 15 bucks and only half the yogurt. Not good. You all can read my article in the news paper next sunday in cc times. About how they are declining there business. read more
