When I called for a refund, Steve spent a considerable amount of time defending himself and putting everything in writing in a long email to avoid a losing any $$ instead of a simple compromise. He charged us full pop after he got the battery back, claiming to have tested it. Which no one couldn't verify. It's a shame that he spent all that time quibbling over $130 instead of focusing on any kind of customer service. Not someone I would want to do business with again. If the operate this way, they won't be in business much longer anyway.

So I would not be able to buy backup batteries from Dell. But what might work was an external battery/power source. This is precisely what The Battery Geeks specialize in. Since this computer was so new on Dell, even Dell was not prepared to answer questions as to Voltage, Amps, plug inner and outer diameters. So I was lucky that Steve had the patience and interest to sleuth this out with me. In the end, we were able to determine that Dell had designed an beautiful computer (the XPS 15 Touch - 9350) that was a serious power suck. He had a $300 external battery but it would be sucked of power within an hour ... and I would need 6 of them to cover the 6 hours of extra battery time I needed. Normally, a high capacity computer battery will cover you for 3 hours and cost you ~$150-$175 each. Sadly, the only solution was to return the computer to Dell. But Steve spent an hour being very helpful and informative. He knew I was looking for a reasonable solution so I could keep this computer. He wasn't able to sell me anything (not his fault) but, the almost-customer service was awesome! He knows his battery solutions!

Guy said he'd install it since they offer the service for free. Before the new battery the battery was dying on us and was supposed to be replaced long ago. The new one would not start unless he jumped it. Tried to start it again with just the battery, still wouldn't start. We went back in to receive a core refund for our old one. Went back out and we got a jump to go home. Mid backing up the car completely turned off on us. Came back out and gave us a jump. Hooked up the machine and told us we'd need a new alternator. He tried to sell us one inside but I told him our mechanic replaced the part not even 6 months ago and it was under warranty. He asked if I trusted my mechanic and I said yes. We left. He told us we'd have to drive back through small streets with our headlights off since the lights drain the battery so much. We drove it home and it was already dark. Had my mechanic come out and he said someone tampered with the alternator and he showed me, it looked like it had been smashed in and some pieces had been broken off. You could also see greasy fingerprints all around it. He then showed me that the battery was not even properly connected. Said he wouldn't be surprised if the battery gave out a few months later from being put in improperly and driving it that way. He fixed the battery connection and replaced the alternator that was still under warranty for no charge. Never trusting another O'Reillys again. Shady people.

I found the display model on the floor, but I needed to ask an employee to get me one. (Thanks, shoplifters!) But could I find an employee? No. As I waited, I chatted with another customer who also needed help but couldn't get it. After about 10 minutes, when I was getting seriously late for an appointment, I saw a women who appeared to be working, though she wasn't in a Best Buy uniform. She said she was taking inventory and couldn't help me, but she did go and get somebody who could. So I did end up buying the tablet, but next time, I'll buy online from Amazon.

Me being able to see a woman install a battery which I know is not a big deal but for me it is because I'm use to always seeing Men care to this type of service. This is the second time this week. I've actually gone to a place and had assistance from a woman when I typically think that this job growing up it's a guy job. As I continue to grow up as a older adult, I realize that we are such powerful woman. I appreciate the two ladies that helped me out today and getting my car back up and running. Being able to be knowledgeable of how to navigate and use our resources is very key and should never be restricted to gender setting. I felt not only happy to write this review about the ladies who helped me today, but I want to encourage us as women that we should never continue to limit what we know is accessible to us as women. We don't have to live in the stereotype that I have grown up in where men have a certain job and women have a certain job. We can continue to transition and grow as we thrive through this changing world .
