Warranty is a scam!!! They sold us a battery for our camper for over $500 with a four year warranty. Months later it would not hold a charge. The store closed in Iowa so they sent us to Omaha. There they tried to reject it because we didn't have a paper receipt but after verifying our receipt was only digital they said we neglected the battery because it wouid not hold a charge. So... if they can recharge it then it's fine and they don't replace it... if it doesn't hold a charge it's our fault? That is not a warranty. Do not buy from them. DO NOT BUY CAR Batteries from this brick and mortar retailer, they won't honor the warranty on the batteries they sell. They won't follow the assessment procedure on their warranty policy to determine the state of the battery. They'll try to propel you to make a false statement that voids the warranty. They'll be rude to you then blatantly lie to you to get you out their store without a replacement battery. I purchased a Duracell AMG (SLI34AMG) from the now out of business Culver City location on 8/2022 that came with a 4 year warranty. The batteries been dying on me and I've had to call AAA to come give me a jump start twice in the last month. I took the battery into the Brea, CA location to have it tested. The associate put a volt meter on it and immediately said "it was no good". Once I told him I had a warranty and pulled up my invoice # on their website he said he "doesn't have it in stock but Santa Ana does". Came into this Santa Ana location with a receipt I got printed at the Brea store attempting to get a warranty replacement. Ronny informed me that he has to keep the battery for 48 hours and "run some cycles" to determine if it was bad. I asked what their return policy was (14 days) because I was willing to buy a battery to use while he tested my warrantied battery then return it. Since I was driving the car that the battery goes to I needed a battery to drive back home. He told me that I would "need a core" for him to sell me a battery, I replied "I'll pay for the core". He said he "couldn't do that (sell me a battery) because I was telling him what I was going to do, that they usually give out loaner batteries but he didn't have one at the moment". Then I asked how long will it take for him to test the battery and that I was willing to wait for him to test it all along knowing the procedure stated on the warranty policy. It was 9am when I brought it in so I would have rather waited all day because I live 45 miles away as opposed to having to come back in 2 days. He raised his voice and firmly replied "48 hours" with an angry look on his face. I told him to just keep the battery and run his "test" that I'll figure it out how to get home. While I'm in the parking lot waiting on my uber to arrive to take me to the nearest auto zone to purchase a battery Javier appears with a loaner battery for me. He said they'll be in touch within 2 days. Two days went by and I never received a call. I called the store on day 3 and spoke to Ronny, he told me he was still running test on it that he'll call me back. I get a call back a couple hours later from Javier falsely informing me that my battery was good. Now this is a quote from the Batteries Plus Warranty Coverage Policy which states: "An industry standard capacity or load test will be used to determine if the battery is at least 80% of original rated capacity in which case it will not be considered defective and will not qualify for a replacement. The battery may require charging prior to performing a capacity or load test". A batteries capacity is based on Ah (ampere-hour), my battery is a 55 ah battery when new so I wanted to know where it stood to try to understand why it was giving me problems. When I came to pick up the battery I asked what the "ah" reading was after the load test. I wanted to see at what percentage it was from when it's brand new and were it stood with the warranty. They wouldn't give me an answer, Ronny just ignored me while Javier showed me the voltage at 12v (which should be 12.4 minimum) and the amps at 655 when this batteries amps are supposed to be 750. Furthermore, to fully charge the battery and do a load test in order to determine the ah doesn't take 2 days. A 12 volt 55ah battery can be fully charged in a couple hours with a commercial battery charger. Since all the Batteries Plus stores are franchisee's they won't honor the warranty, it's no wonder so many have gone out of business! Ronny gave me the worst attitude when speaking to me and I felt the resentment the moment I told him I had a warranty for the battery. When I came to pick up my battery he didn't even acknowledge me even thou he was the associate at the front desk. I was asked if I "didn't drive the car for a while" by both associates. I drive this car every day as it's the only car I have. If you let a car sit for more than a month without fully charging the battery it voids the warranty. They want you to concur to a statement they make that voids their warranty policy and when you don't they simply lie to you and tell you the batteries good. I'm convinced the Brea location did in fact have the battery in stock but the associate lied and sent to the Santa Ana location. Don't get suckered in by their promotional emails with a 15% discount like I did. Next move is to get this battery load tested, determine the "ah" and send in the results to Corporate and see if they will stand by their 4 year warranty on this specific battery. read more

Had to fix it again for another $100, which I did bc I need my phone and had already wasted my time here. I noticed multiple in-store customer interactions and they were exceptionally courteous and very professional. It is rare to see this in retail these days. I also had a problem with a car battery not starting and the staff at the store came out to help me jump start my car! WORTHLESS WARRANTY!!!!!! One year into a 4 year warranty and they will not honor the warranty. I bring my car batterty ($360 AGM) to the Santa Ana, CA store where I purchased it. Battery Reads 8 Volts and they immediately threaten me with voiding my warranty due to abuse. I simply drove my car, the battery is Maintenance Free!!! What abuse? Starting my Car? They say to honor warranty they have to keep the battery and test it( 2 days). I pick up battery reading 12+ volts. Install it, 8 days later dead again. Now they want me to jump through more testing hoops. NONSENSE!! I'm done with their inferior products and rude demeanor. I just came in to pick up an online order. I placed the order about an hour and a half before I came in, due to Fry's cancelling my delivery order due to my "credit card getting declined", which was BS since it worked for my order here at Batteries Plus Bulbs. Upon checked to see if I could pick it up, they were all sold out at every OC location. Anyhow, so I placed the order online quickly since I needed a new battery by Friday morning at the latest. Thank goodness I was able to pick up in store, and it was on my way back from another errand I had to run right after placing the order. AND the best part was that you can get 10% off your order if you pick it up in store! Score! So I got to the store about an hour and a half after I placed the order after I finished my first errand. Really easy to find, right next to Hobby Lobby (which is where I'm at right now writing this). The gentlemen there were really nice and one of them knew what my order was when I said my name. They quickly got the battery for me, and the final receipt was emailed to me. A really quick transaction, quicker than I had expected. Really nice and friendly guys! So glad that this place has opened here! I needed a power bank for my phone and ended up buying so many other little gadgets. Their prices are VERY reasonable and the service is great! I also found out they can fix your phone on the spot (but i guess that probably depends on the problem), and they can make you a spare key fob! I was all ready to spend the $1200+ at the dealership when I heard Batteries Plus would do it at a fraction of the cost. The two gentlemen I worked with were very knowledgeable and recommended the battery that was the best for me, not necessarily the cheapest one they had available and were able to explain why it was worth the extra cost. Even after everything was said and done, I pay over 50% less than what I would have at the dealership (and very likely higher quality batteries than what the dealer would have used). I called and asked about a specialty car battery, an Odyssey battery to be exact. I knew it was a very rare kind of battery but I gave it a shot. I was told that they did not have one in stock but they could order it and have it here by the next business day. However they informed me that they had another brand of the same capacity in stock. They had exactly one in stock. So, I rushed over to check it out. It turned out to be a Northstar X2 battery that had the exact same capacity and performance as the other battery I was looking at. The gentleman even showed me a side by side comparison of the 2 batteries' specifications sheet. And everything was pretty much the same except the Northstar X2 had a much longer warranty as well as a special mail in rebate he informed me about! After purchasing the battery, I was ready to leave with my new battery. The gentleman then offered to help me install it. I took this opportunity because the battery weighed 70lbs! And lifting it into place in my life did truck by myself wouldn't have been fun. This is a great store and over all I had a great experience.
