Two Part Review.
Part 1: I was heading to Paris and found myself in urgent need of a new battery for my Nikon. They had it, and the guy behind the counter was nice and seemed to be very knowledgeable. The price seemed a bit high, $29.95 for a Duracell, but I was desperate and really had no price reference point. I never had to buy one before, and I didn't have time to shop on-line.
When I got to Paris the battery lasted one day and would not take a charge. From the second day I had to take pictures with my cellphone, but they are not the quality of the Nikon. The opportunity was gone, and my cellphone pictures were of mediocre quality.
Part 2: Upon returning to the States I took the battery back and a different guy checked it and told me it was low. Duh... It appeared that perhaps my camera was not charging properly, but after discovering that I could buy TWO batteries, a charger, and some lens cleaning gear for less than $20.00 on-line I wanted a refund. The two guys there allowed as how they might be able to give me a refund or store credit if only I had the credit card I used to make the purchase. They said they had to be able to swipe it. (Many stores do not need to be able to swipe your card to issue a refund.) I had the receipt, but my wallet had been stolen in Paris and I was awaiting replacement cards. I did not have the credit card . They basically said, "Sorry, Charlie".
The store is out of the way and difficult to get to, so two trips there were all that I was willing to make. I felt like they might have issued a credit if I had had the credit card, but I guess I'll never know. I won't be going back. They have a vast selection of batteries and bulbs, but you really pay a premium for it. $29.95 for one battery vs. $20.00 for TWO batteries and a charger. Hmmmm. Tough decision. Now I have my original battery, the Batteries Plus Duracell, two new Vivitar batteries and a charger. I'm ready to shoot.
Bottom line: Great selection, high prices. read more
