I had a really good experience at the Batteries Plus store on Cole Road. The battery in my car key fob was low so a friend recommended I go to Batteries Plus. They replaced the battery for me and the price was $9 one time or $12 for life. Guess which one I chose, and the best part is I didn't have to figure out how to open the key fob or put it back together without breaking anything. read more

So, this was a bummer of an experience. I purposefully did not buy my batteries from amazon because my wife suggested we buy local. The pandemic and all. So I went to the store expecting to pay a little more $2-5. What I found was there prices were $10 to $12 more on non name brand batteries. ?? I was a little shocked and asked and I was told they don't even try to compete. Okay you don't try but why should I drive to your shop? The service isn't something out of the ordinary. My schedule is such that your store hours don't help me. So, why should I buy from you? The answer is I shouldn't. This stores only purpose is for very specialized items, or emergencies only. Though I doubt emergencies will be much better because stock didn't look very abundant. Took phone in for new screen. Screen and camera didn't work properly after their fix. Their corporate office said since the tech couldn't (didn't) verify the bad display and camera before they fixed the screen, I'm stuck with a non-functional iphone 6S plus. And it cost $150. Thanks for nothing Corporate Office, not using your company anymore. Update: just picked the phone up. No apology, no explanation, no receipt. Crap. Stay away from these hacks. read more

Out of the last several times I've dealt with this store, I only got friendly and knowledgeable service once or twice. My wife and I scheduled appointments several hours in advance to have our batteries replaced in our iPhones, and after driving 50 miles to get there on time, the store called 25 minutes before the appointment and the guy tells me that it's "company policy" not to schedule appointments an hour before closing time and that they didn't have a tech available to work on it anyway. My appointment was at 4 and they closed at 5 that day. (This was a completely different story than what they told my wife when they called her earlier about her appointment. They were clearly lying to me. I'm guessing that the guy was just making sure he wouldn't have to stay past 5, and was just lying to me to try to get me to reschedule.) Anyway, when I cancelled both appointments instead of rescheduling mine and reminded him what they had told my wife, he completely changed his story and said that if I went ahead and came in, they would service both phones. (But earlier he said there was no tech available? Something's fishy with that story.) I of course refused. In my opinion one cannot rely on or trust this shady operation. Be warned. read more

I needed to find some specific batteries for a solar night light which are AA NiMH 1500mAh 1.2v rechargeable batteries. I called this store and asked the person who answered if they had these batteries in stock. The answer was immediate and he said "yeah, we have those". So I asked him to double check and be sure they had those specific batteries in stock because I didn't want to drive several miles to the store and find out they actually didn't have them in stock. He then seemingly double checked and said "yes we have those in stock. They come in a 4 pack for $12.99. So I thanked him, and immediately went to the store to get them. When I walked into the store the person at counter asked if he could help me. So I told him why I was there and what I wanted. He walked over to the section where the batteries were and after looking around for 30 seconds he said "We don't have those batteries in stock". After a brief pause I proceeded to tell him that whoever I talked to said you had them in stock. I asked for the manager and the guy helping me said he was the manager. Long story short, I had a short fuse and used a few expletives describing the incompetence of his employee. I don't recall him apologizing for the inconvenience but he might of. I left him with something like this "I called to be sure you had the product so I didn't waste a trip to your store. I'm sorry for yelling at you but if I were the manager of this store I would go find out who took my call and kick someone's a##". You just lost a customer. Absolutely don't go here for watch batteries. I have had my Swiss Military watch for 2 years and have never had to change the battery. Well it stopped working and i assumed its was the battery. So I went here to get a new one and the guy came out and said he tried 3 different batteries and none of them worked so it must be something else wrong with my watch. I took it over to Vasiliys watch repair and the owner told me that a piece in my watch was scratched and the only way that happens is when someone is trying to change the battery. I then had to pay $60 to get my watch repaired because of what the workers at Batteries did. So be forewarned. It's ridiculous!!! Won't be going back again. read more

These guys offer fantastic service. Went in to get a new battery for my wife's key fob because we thought it had died. The battery was three dollars but it turns out the battery wasn't the issue. Two small connectors inside the fob had broken loose, causing the circuit board not to be connected to any power. "No problem" the guy said as he took the fob over to a soldering station. He actually soldered the connectors back in place and added a few for good measure. This took maybe two minutes. Went out to the parking lot to try it. It worked fantastically. We asked him how much we owed him and he said "nothing at all, just be sure to come back!" Well, he's made lifetime customers out of us. Amazing service!! read more

I have been to Batteries Plus Bulbs, and surprisingly my car dealership recommended them to me in regards to saving big dollars on batteries to a dead or possible, if needed..., new, let's hope not, key fob for my 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe SUV. I have gone without a key fob for almost two years now. Shortly after I financed this vehicle it needed some up-keep maintenance. I took it to a mechanic shop some friends recommended where the owner who had borrowed my keys, "broke open" my key fob!! Worse off, didn't deduct the damages for it, or the costs to repair it from my maintenance invoice bill( let's just say, She lost me as a customer for good!) I called my dealership but they of course wanted st least $200-$300 approximately for a replacement, but told me to look up and contact Batteries Plus Bulbs. I did, and spoke to the salesman over the phone. He requested I come into the store so he could better look at my type of key fob. I did, the salesman, this was two years ago about; was very customer friendly and knowledgeable on key fobs, told me mine could not be repaired but he would have to order a new one and it would be a bit more higher in cost, but definitely not hundreds of dollars. I was relieved; but at the time and still currently on a limited income w SSDI, and also a online college student. I have near upcoming plans of returning to the store and replacing the key fob I've hardly used since I first had this vehicle. This is a great place to go. They sell a big variety of different types of batteries, including cell phone batteries (who knew ?). They install them there also. The guys the there are really great too. They are very friendly they really try to help you with what you need. By the way, we also buy our car batteries here too! I called this company and asked if they could replace Citizen batteries the sales person said sometimes they could that I need to come down and show him the watch. the next morning 10/28/2016 I went into the store and a man with a long beard came out of the room. I began to explain that I had a citizen watch and I needed to know if he could replace the batteries. He said very rudely "nope won't touch it" I said the man last night said it depended on the watch. His exact words were "well he is a liar!" I then told him I had another watch could he help me get the back on it. He said I won't touch that one either. My grandchildren were with me and they were stunned at how rude this man was. If you are a woman, don't even bother with this place. Manager and an employee were both dealing with the same phone call. I waited three minutes, surprised that one couldn't deal with a face-to-face customer instead of two on a phone call. A minute later, a big burly guy comes in. The manager snaps to attention and immediately asks "how can I help you?" I've found that this type of sexist behavior carries over to how businesses end up treating all types of customers. I was surprised to see the 5 star ratings because I have been to this store on 5 different occasions and each time was given the impression that they really did not care if I was helped or not. Once I asked about a UV bulb I needed for a sterilizer and they just stared at me like I had asked them for a body part. Nor could they offer any advise as where to find one. I got the impression that they are not really experts, just order takers. Maybe I misunderstood their business model. I thought being a niche business specializing in two lines that maybe they would have the expertise in those areas. No matter. Each time I found them to be unfriendly and annoyed. 3 out of the 5 trips I made to this store they had what I needed so I guess it is better than a 50-50 chance they will have what you need but I will go to the one in Nampa before I will go here again. read more

DONT BUY FROM THIS STORE! I purchased a power supply for my Apple PowerBook and got screwed, by the OWNER! I went in to get my battery rebuilt, they couldn't do it. I figured, since I was there, I would get a power supply. They didn't carry it in stock so had to order it. $78, ok seemed reasonable for the Apple part, plus $7 for shipping (to their store, I'd have to pick it up, first red flag). I suggested a drop ship to my house.. duh, guess they could do that... I verified, this is THE NEW power supply, YES. I get the product a week later, it is a third-party ($65 anywhere else) button style (discontinued by Apple due to failures). I went back to return the part. 15% restocking fee. Now I am out $20 for a power supply I would never have purchased if I knew that it wasn't the NEW APPLE part! TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! Was looking for a particular 3 way bulb. I had brought the old bulb in with me. Well the sales person was very rude and argumentative with me. He had first told me that the bulb I had brought in was not a 3 way. Then told me that a incandescent bulb would work. Well I bought a 4 pack of what he said would work. Well low and behold, when I get home, guess what? The bulb did not work. It would not be a big deal if the sales person did not have an attitude. Batteries Plus in Boise is ridiculous! Every time I go in there I get terrible service. Yesterday is the last time I will ever walk in there. I had them rebuild a battery pack for a headlamp. It cost me $54 and when I got it back it was completely torn apart with the staff telling me that it is un-fixable. Well, it worked when I brought it in-Just need newer batteries that would hold a charge. I asked if there was some leeway on the charges and they were unrelenting. They joked that I could use the batteries on something else-I've never seen those style of batteries before in my life. This was the second time this has happened to me.
