Stopped here for lunch the other day. They are all decorated for Christmas and it is beautiful! I love the decorations and the atmosphere. The service was nice and quick as well. Now for the food. This is where I feel all the batsons miss. It's overpriced and just meh. We spilt a ceaser salad and "nachos" that were more tostada and both were just okay. I love the vibe but I wish the food was better!

A few friends and I came here for dinner bc they were staying at the Lincoln, and they heard it was good. I think the biggest thing this restaurant has going for it is the ambiance. It's a really nice space that looks like the kind of place you'd go to celebrate something, and there is a cool game room in the back. The staff seemed nice as well. I got a nonalcoholic beer which was tasty. But the food could be better. Our table shared everything. - The veggie burger and the cooked veggies (+$4 to swap with fries) was actually quite tasty, I would recommend it. - The poutine was overwhelmed by the gravy which was salty; the chunks of duck meat and cheese curds were lost in sauce. - The scallop scampi also had a lot of "sauce" - noodles in a bath of salty and garlicky oil. The scallops were just slightly overcooked (not rubbery but not melt in mouth the way properly cooked scallops are). My friend who never had scallops before thought they tasted like potatoes. - The whoopie pie flight was just way way too sweet. Flavors we think were plain sugar?, butterscotch, strawberry, and coffee? (the latter being the best). But yeah, I wouldn't recommend getting this. You can get much better whoopie pies elsewhere.

Wow! I can't say enough about how impressive Batson River Brewing & Distilling is. It's located in the lower level of the newly renovated Lincoln Mill in Biddeford, and the space itself is absolutely stunning. The decor is lush and inviting, with a mix of industrial charm and modern elegance that makes it feel like the perfect spot to unwind. The atmosphere is warm, cozy, and has a real sense of style that you don't see in many places. On this visit, we decided to order takeout, but honestly, I wish we had eaten in because the space is so gorgeous, and I can tell it's the kind of place you'd want to experience firsthand. That being said, the food was amazing! Here's what we tried: Duck Fat Cornbread ($12) - First off, the cornbread was incredible. It's made with duck fat, which makes it rich and incredibly moist, and it's served with hot honey and bourbon maple butter, which is just the right balance of sweet and savory. It was the perfect start to our meal. Pepperoni Pizza ($20) - This pizza was delicious! It came with a crispy crust topped with pepperoni, parmesan, mozzarella, and a sprinkle of thyme. The hot honey drizzle added a nice kick of sweetness that paired perfectly with the savory flavors. Definitely a solid choice if you're in the mood for pizza. Fried Haddock Sandwich ($18) - If you're in Maine, you've got to try the haddock, and this sandwich did not disappoint. The fish was perfectly fried, crispy on the outside, flaky on the inside and served on a soft brioche bun with tartar sauce, slaw, and a squeeze of fresh lemon. The fries on the side were crispy and well-seasoned, which is always a plus. It was a great, classic sandwich. Batson Smash Burger ($16) - This burger was a real winner. The Angus beef patty was juicy and flavorful, topped with white American cheese, boursin, crispy bacon, and fresh lettuce. Instead of fries, I opted for a side salad, and I'm so glad I did. The Garden Salad was fresh and packed with flavor. It had romaine, snap peas, asparagus, radish, carrot, and cucumber, and the green goddess dressing brought everything together perfectly. The crumbled cojita cheese was a nice touch and added a bit of tanginess to the mix. Overall, the food was fantastic. Everything was flavorful, fresh, and thoughtfully prepared. But let's be real, the decor is what truly blew me away. The space itself is so well-designed, with lots of lush plants, cool lighting, and an atmosphere that makes you want to settle in and enjoy your meal. It's the kind of place where you can tell a lot of thought went into every detail, from the layout to the decor to the drink and food offerings. I can't recommend Batson River Brewing & Distilling enough. Whether you're looking for great beer, delicious food, or just a beautiful spot to hang out, this place checks all the boxes. Can't wait to come back and experience it again!

I went mid afternoon on a Sunday...had some free time in Biddeford/Saco area so I thought I would give it a try. My friend and I started with a drink in the hotel lobby bar. Beautiful decor, very spacious, TONS of seating of every kind...bar stools, couches, arm chairs...you name it...there is a comfortable and stylish place to have a drink. We decided to sit at the bar. I tried an old fashion (bourbon) cocktail. It was perfectly made, right down to the large single ice cube, perfectly sized orange peel, and a Luxor cherry. We then continued down to the distillery. Another beautiful spaces, and walked through several beautiful spaces to get to the distillery. Huge bar, great lighting. We were a little hungry so we shared an order or corn bread and a short rib steak and cheese sandwich. Plenty for the 2 of us to share. Both were excellent. I wish I took pics! They even got the order perfectly right...caramelized onions on the side...for my friend. I love them, and ate them all. They were delicious. Great place for a drink and a snack.

My friends took me here for a night out. It has been years since I've been to Biddeford. I really like what has been done with the city! My friends wanted me to see the amazing Christmas decorations but Batson had already taken them down. I love all animals, so I made a point to not look at all the stuffed animal decor. I got the fish tacos - very good! The Spanish-type rice was an odd side dish. My friend enjoyed the sweet corn bread and tomato soup. Her husband ordered a pizza. This is located in a really cool spot and I thought, while descending the stairs, "This is a great place for a party or event." Many nooks and spots to sit and socialize. The service was good, too. Overall, a lovely experience.

I came here with my mother and sister-in law and the ambiance was great. Whoever decorated the place and selected the music did a great job. The waitress we had was nice, polite, and timely with our order. The food we ordered was underwhelmingly average. The Duckfat cornbread had the strangest aftertaste and was least enjoyable part of my meal. I ordered a mocktail which was tasty. Lastly I had their Batson burger which looked good but had no flavor. It didn't have any seasonings on the meat and the bacon was maybe a half piece that was burnt. As for my mother and sister-in laws meals, they had gotten a pizza each but there was so much arugula on both the server could hardly tell which pizza was which. For the price of the food I found this place to be disappointing which is unfortunate.

I'm so glad we got to have dinner at Batson River! It's such a an adorable place, so trendy, so delicious and had staff that was more than helpful!! Our waitress was super proud of the menu and the food options and gave us a quick rundown of the food, drinks and her favorites. She answered questions and was able to remember our order perfectly without writing anything down (this typically bothers me because something is usually wrong) but our party of 5 with special requests for everything came out as ordered!! The poutine was good, the cornbread amaze-balls! The haddock chowder was so good, the haddock taco perfection and so many other delicious things!! Our drinks were great!! I actually bought a bootle of their gin because it was my favorite!!

Love this place! It's in with the Lincoln Hotel and is equally as spectacular. Definitely need to make a res days in advance. We didn't but the wait was only a 1/2 hour so we went to the hotel lobby and had a cocktail. The food is delicious. I had the salmon with sweet potato mash. My niece got the 1/2 chicken & said it was good. My sis got the steak and was not impressed, it was over cooked. The churros!!!! A MUST. Absolute sweet, gooey perfection. The whoopie pies were dry & unforgettable. Service is very slow. We waited over an hour for our meals but didn't really mind, we were having fun. I will be back over & over!!!

This location in Biddeford was beautiful! From the decor, to the table settings and even the bathrooms! At first I was a little worried my group was underdressed in jeans and t-shirts but after seeing others walk in dressed the same I realized we were dressed fine. The food was delicious, everyone in my party of 16 enjoyed their meal. I will say the service was a bit slow...it took about 75 minutes to get our food once we put our order in...and the restaurant was only half full. If it wasn't for the game room Located in the back we would have had some very hangry kids on our hands.

Biddeford is not Portland but it does have its share of worth while places to try & Batson River is one of them. In a nut shell my 1st impression is: 1.The atmosphere is the bomb......luv it! Man the bar is huge. 2. Our bartender was super friendly. 3. The menu has a well rounded selection of tasty appetizers, pizzas, soup/salads, burgers, sandwiches & tacos. 4. The craft beer selection is very good. I recommend the Baltic Porter! 5. The cocktail list has some interesting selections. I tried the Langsford Bourbon Smash & the wife got the Clock Farm Cosmo... both were very tasty. But this is where I give a thumbs down is that paying $16 a piece for these drinks & having them do measured pours is a cheap look for such a nice place. Room for improvement! 6. For food we ordered the Smoked Haddock Chowder & Blackened Haddock Caesar. Both were very good especially the chowder which is probably the best seafood chowder I can recall in recent memory. Nice job! Overall I give 3~1/2 stars with the potential to be north of 4 stars. Batson River is definitely worth visiting, so give them a try & Enjoy!

What a gem in the heart of Biddeford! The ambiance is as amazing as the food. We went on a Saturday evening. There was a wait, but it was made so much easier by going to the game room, where you can order drinks and appetizers while playing games like shuffleboard, pinball, scrabble, Yahtzee and more! Once you're seated, be prepared for an intimate experience. The serves are extremely attentive. The food and drinks are amazing. While this is not the most budget friendly place, it's worth the splurge for a special occasion. We were completely satisfied and happy with our experience!

Batson River is the latter, and we loved our lunch outing in one of the adorable seasonal outdoor ice fishing sheds. We chose a few "handhelds," including the blackened haddock tacos and fried haddock sandwich, both of which are served with a red cabbage slaw. I enjoyed the tacos - the ratio of fish to slaw and aioli, etc. was just right. And the sandwiches are served with a generous amount of crispy French fries. On a weekday in March, many of the local shops and restaurants were closed. It was an unseasonably warm day, and we were happy to stumble upon Batson River for a fun and memorable lunch!

We had lunch here on Sunday, just after seeing Santa on the boat from the bridge down the street. Highly suggest putting your name in before you want to eat (it was about an hour wait when I put our name in at 11:45). Their reservation system sends you a text when they put your name on the list, and from the link they send you, you can also check your position on the list. They text you when your table is ready. When we arrived with our dog to check in, we were given a couple of seating options in the outside heated deck area. We chose seats looking outside, which were topped with fur warmers, which made them comfortable to sit on. There are plenty of heaters on, which made it nice and cozy. Also, the plethora of Christmas decorations inside and out, made it also feel cozy, and festive. For lunch, I had the blackened fish tacos, which comes with mango pico, red cabbage slaw, chipotle aioli, cotija, on corn tortillas. They were super flavorful, and delicious. I stuck with fries, and they even had sour cream for dipping them. We will absolutely be back to try more of the menu!

Several more visits since my last review…read more Some things haven't changed: -- The beers are still great. Swish, Here's to Feeling Good All the Time, Nothing Gold, and Reciprocal are a formidable foursome. At any given time, you can usually get at least two, more often three, sometimes all four. -- You'd be hard pressed (pun intended) to find a better smashburger in Portland, but I'd also put it up against any regularly-offered burger I've had in Portland--smashed or otherwise. I love everything about it, from the high caliber of the beef to the fresh pillowy milk bun to the exhilaratingly strong cure of the bacon to the razor-thin cutting of the vegetables to the execution that gets even a smashburger burger juicy. -- I'm still not crazy about the wings. They have a frozen dinner feel to them. A few things, though, have changed: -- Full service now instead of having to order everything at the bar. That's a plus. -- The place is much more crowded-- including screaming tykes-- on the weekends. Not a plus, but can't fault a place for its own popularity. -- The fries are now the industrial strength coated kind. A big minus and a sad drop off from prior greatness, but better that than from an item off the main cast. -- You can now order beer cans to go from the table rather than having to get in line. A nice convenience. A few things to know: -- It's a surprisingly good option for vegetarians and pescatarians. The veggie burger and the grilled fish sandwich are both much more than solid. -- There's outdoor seating in front of the building and also to the right. -- The bar room to the right of the entrance is adults only, so if those screaming tykes get on your nerves, this is the place to be. -- You can still order beer at the bar if that's your preference over table service. Still a favorite, and the combo of beer, food, and space is tough to beat (Mast Landing and Maine Beer in Freeport are also somewhere in that echelon).

This beer release brought my wife and I for our visit today. As an IPA fan I enjoyed this new version very much for its hop saturated citrusy forward taste that drank quite smooth for the 9.5%. At this point now Bissell is broken into two separate parts. The first will be the space welcoming to families and is more of their restaurant style area. Appeared to be a popular area and does offer reservations. My preferred area is the Bissell Garden as they call it. Those entering need to be of drinking age and have more lounge vibes where you order at the bar. It still offers full kitchen menu so is perfect. Particularly my favorite is snagging bar stools to grab some beers and food. I had to try out the Super Swish while my wife grabbed their red ale named Turnpike. Then food wise we split their kitchen special Classic Poutine. Some of the best classic kept simple poutine I have had. The perfect comfort food for yet another cold weather day in Maine. Have been impressed by all the food from Bissell. Truly the only negative still stands being the fact it's on Thompson's Point and required paid parking (not Bissell Brothers call but still). One of the most popular Maine breweries for a reason especially in the IPA game. Give all their other style of beers a try too though, top notch brewery!

At one point, she put the phone on hold, and walked back to the kitchen. Rule #1 of hospitality: Always service the people who are literally in front of you, and took the time on a cold night to drive and to patronize you and your establishment. Put phone callers on hold. We were then seated in a back corner booth with no view of the restaurant. When a waitress appeared, I asked the price of the Lobster BLT listed in the menu section of their website. "Oh, we don't have that anymore." I asked why it remained on their website. I got a dirty look. She went on to tell my party that they actually had NO lobster in house. In Maine. My partner ordered a Reuben sandwich. He opened it up and we found about 1 tsp of sauerkraut inside. The breading on my fish sandwich was overdone and beyond crispy. But the most infuriating moment was ordering a cup of hot tea. Hot water and a tea bag, nothing more. Since the waitress had disappeared, I had to physically get up and ask for a hot water refill. The waitress I did find didn't want to help, instead pointing in another direction, saying "She's over there." I tracked her down; our waitress was talking with another employee. I asked for some more hot water to refill the cup with the same teabag. She brought it. When paying the bill, I found l'd been charged $6.50 for 2 cups of tea. Wow. One teabag and one refill of hot water. $6.50! The food was not great, the service horrendous, and the charges ridiculous. We'll be heading back to Federal Jacks soon.
