I've struggled with how to rate and review Goose the Market for a long time…read more I've struggled mightily. It's an Indianapolis icon in many ways. It's beloved. And listen, it's not the most wheelchair friendly place in the world. If you're a wheelchair user, you're in all likelihood not going to the cellar unless you're extraordinary with you're chair or you crawl. I remember attending a Yelp event here, and I just wrestled with these issues so much. It's not inaccessible - you can get in the door, though even the parking is a bit wonky and the curb-cuts a bit worn. This is an older building in an older neighborhood. So yeah, if you're a wheelchair user plan ahead. I am a wheelchair user. And I suppose I should knock off my usual 1-star for accessibility issues. But, I just can't do it. I, instead, choose to go 5-stars with my narrative disclaimer that there are accessibility issues here. But, my word. This is a great place and every single experience I've had with Goose the Market, including last night's Italian Film Festival, has been stellar whether I'm in their location or at an event they are catering. What is Goose the Market? First off, nearly everyone considers it one of the best - Indianapolis Monthly, Eater, Yelp, etc. Goose the Market offers a daily menu of sandwiches, soups, gelato, and small plates. It offers raw beef, pork, poultry, game, seafood, in-house made sausage/smoked meats, and more. It offers charcuterie - both in-house and from other producers. It offers farmstead cheeses, fresh produce, artisan breads, preserves, sauces, pickles, pasta, crackers, flours/grains, and a lot more. There's the cellar - Enoteca bar with Italian style wine by the glass and small plates (and it has all-ages seating). Goose the Market offers a wine of the month club, gift cards, catering, classes, daily specials, and more. What can I say? There are those places that are worth the effort. As a lifelong person with a disability, I long ago realized the world would never be perfectly accessible. It's never going to happen. I'll continue to work toward a more accessible world, though I'll also honor that there are those places where I feel welcome anyway. I feel welcome at Goose the Market, though I can't quite get the full experience. The service is exceptional, the products quite awesome, the environment warm and friendly, and there's simply no doubt it's one of Indy's treasures. So yeah, five stars. With a disclaimer that those with mobility impairments may need to plan ahead or have a companion along. Who wants to be my companion?

What a fun spot for a sandwich or cheese or sundry items!…read more It is on the corner of two busy streets but does have two spots in front for parking. You can also park in the gravel lot across the road. It was raining pretty heavily so we got wet but wasn't a far dash. The counter is like any deli with the items displayed in the cold case. You can browse the various freezers or shelves for items like picked veggies, canned fish or spreads. It was fun to see that you could buy everything needed for a picnic or impromptu lunch! We got sandwiches to go as well as locally baked cookies. I tried the recommendation for a vegetarian sandwich. It was nice and crusty and had some good flavor. I might create my own next time, but theirs was good and had lots of flavor! My friend was new to Indianapolis and really liked the options. She said she would be back and so will we. They also do tasting events and other things so we might check out one of their offerings. A fun local spot!

There were a few designs to choose from: a lobster, an oyster, and a fish, from what I can recall. She also introduced me to our gracious host for the evening, Nolan, who was running the show. Nolan is a big ball of energy and a joy to be around. He set the vibes to light, fun and whimsical and I really appreciated that. Everyone moved around the room freely, visiting all of the tasting stations that were set up with whimsical, hand-drawn decorations on the paper tablecloths (much like that seen on the Pinterest commercial). There were 6 different ones, all with multiple options at each station. I tried sardines, razor clams, pickled ramps, an entire array of Fishwife tinned items, mustards, seafood dip that is made in-house, oysters, the list goes on. They also introduced me to an Indiana-based soda company call Bollygood, with Indian-inspired flavors. I love, love, love the Lime Basil Cumin flavor. I wasn't too sure about that combo, but it was delicious and super-refreshing. It smelled like a taco...but didn't taste like one! The Lemon Mango Turmeric was really good too. I also enjoyed the demonstrations lead by Chef Amber. She also has a light that was a pleasure to witness. I could just tell that she really loves what she does. While she does not work there, she still gets to come back for the fun stuff (her words). She has been a huge influence on the whole tinned fish movement at the smokehouse and develops recipes and curates these events alongside Nolan and the team. I loved both recipes that were shared with us and her enthusiasm to show us how we can elevate the tinned fish beyond the can. We mingled. We made friends. I spent a pretty penny on several of the delicious items that I was introduced to. I look forward to attending more events here in the future.

Here are my takeaways: Tour: Once we got our health and safety standards attire, we made our way through the warehouse tour. So interesting to see each step of the process. Affordable way to spend a Saturday morning and you can try some cool charcuterie meats like a fancy person. Shop/Product Reviews: As mentioned before, the retail shop is packed with products. Plenty of items to make a gorgeous charcuterie board and tasting plates. I did try a sample of the gin and juice salami, which I did not like. I found 4 great items that I will probably purchase again in the future: Big Red Salami made with Wagyu, Soprosseta, Tulip Tree Trillium Cheese and the amazing confection...Miso Bacon Caramel Bar. That and the Soprosseta stole my heart. Go there, try samples, buy what makes you smile, and live each day to the fullest!

I've driven by the Bakery, so many times and wanted to stop, but I was always in a hurry. My sister and I went in and we each got a dessert and because it was four in the afternoon, we got decaffeinated coffee. The refills were free and we sat at the little counter like we were at a diner and enjoyed everything about this iconic little bakery. The decor is a eclectic. We just took our time and looked around and laughed at so many signs and odd little things that were placed over the years. On the way to the ladies room, you will find out that the gentleman that started the restaurant fought in one of the world wars, and you will see his worn out shoes, his uniforms, his letters of accommodation and Learn his story. Now let's get to the desserts. We shared some type of a wonderful lemon pastry and a black forest cake. Best black forest cake I've ever had. Savored every bite. We were able to buy the last of the springle's that they had made from Christmas. FYI, if you don't like black licorice don't buy Springerle's but you can only get them at Christmas because it's a German tradition and they won't work in the summertime because of the humidity. Things that I learned that day. We saw that they had a dinner menu with a huge variety of different bratwurst and assorted sausages that we would like to try sometime. We ended up spending an hour and a half in a beautiful little place that we thought we were just going to stop and grab desserts to go.

There's food stalls for just about all the cuisines you can think of, as well as a gift shop, barber shop, and a clothing store. There's also a lot of other businesses nearby for your entertainment! Every food stall operates about the same way, where you order at their counter and you get a buzzer for when your food is done, so you can still sit down with your crew while you wait. This space also does host events sometimes, with a game night social every Tuesday 6-9 PM, with board games galore that you can take around with you. They have also had March Madness watch parties there in the past. Take care of when these events occur, because it can get super crowded in there. The Garage still maintains some of the Bottleworks charm by having some of the old machinery on display. One thing that I wish was improved about The Garage is that there should be more trash cans and tray collections around. These can be hard to find with all the commotion of The Garage.

Would love to try the fried shrimp at some point. The accompanying aiolis perfectly complemented the sliders! I completed my meal with a lemon drop martini. Service was friendly & attentive. Will definitely keep this spot in mind the next time I return to Indy & would highly recommend to others. In fact, I found it superior to my experience @ Harry & Izzy's--much more my vibe!

Super disappointed to leave a one star review but my experience with Graze Craze has been horrible…read more I received a gift card for my birthday and I went in person this week to place an order. When I walked in, I heard someone say from that back that they'd be with me in a little while. It wasn't long before a young man came out to speak with me. It was about 90 minutes before closing and he immediately told me I should not expect service right before closing. I apologized, said I thought they closed at 6pm, he said they did, then said he'd go to the back to see if they'd be willing to talk to me. Someone was in the back washing dishes, but never came to the front. The same employee came back out, sighed, and said he'd take my order. I told him I had never been in, I just heard about it from the gift card, and was curious what I could order and what was included with the menu items (inside, it's just a counter and a table off to the side with trays/boxes with names, but not prices or a list of what comes in them). He told me I should read the TV, which looked to be off at the time. He turned it back on while huffing and puffing, then said "LOOK!" at the menu, which was just names of the boxes with prices, not sizes or again what's included/what I can choose from. I remained calm, despite feeling uncomfortable, and again asked if I could see a list of what's included or what I can choose from, and if I can pick something up same day or order for a future pickup (I was honestly hoping for a grab & go cooler like other similar places but no problem, I can order something for another time). I still have no idea what items are available, as the employee was just getting more and more mad at me with each question, which he refused to answer. I told him I was feeling uncomfortable, which he just said, "okay!" so I said I didn't feel like I was wanted there as a customer, and I left. I've tried calling the store to rectify the situation and maybe speak with a different employee or member of management. Either the phone just rings and rings or the same employee I spoke with in-person answers. I really wanted to use my gift card but I'd rather throw it away than go through that experience again. I'm very discouraged at this point, but glad I can get great products and service at The Bountiful Board instead.
