I've been passing this cute shop every time I grab a smoothie and finally caved. I was with my kids, one of which is GF. We picked out beautiful cupcakes and the kiddos waited patiently to bring them home to enjoy. The excitement quickly died when NEITHER child wanted their cupcake after tasting it. Both the GF and regular cupcakes were dry as a bone and literally crumbled to pieces before we could even get it to our mouth. The frosting was also dry- like they had been frozen or left out for days before being sold. Basically, if you want to buy some cupcakes to go, pretty good spot - 5 stars, but pretty pricey for a "to-go" activity. If you want to sit down and eat a cupcake with one other adult friend, also a 5 star activity, but worth the money b/c of the cute shop and experience. With that said, my experience bringing children: 1 star There is no part of this place that is kid friendly and I don't have kids - just nieces and nephews - so that doesn't usually bother me, but I wanted to bring my nieces here for their birthdays and only realized once I got here that it was a terrible idea, which sucked b/c I don't really know too many adults who want to sit down and share a cupcake in a cupcake store. Children can't see the high display of cupcakes unless you pick them up. Because of our group (three adults two babies and a four year old), there was only one part of the shop that we could all fit. Bar chairs and tables = can't sit on and hold a baby at the same time. The four year old needed help getting up and down off of the chair, and constant vigilance b/c a fall off of the bar stool would've been a disaster. The four year old was also thirsty and infused water is cute for adults but kids think it's disgusting. The paper dixie cups don't hold enough water - even for the four year old, and not having a top on them sometimes ends in wet situations (luckily not this day). Then there wasn't anymore water, and you can't eat a cupcake when your mouth is dry = MELTDOWN. So sorry to the workers and other patrons for that. My sis and I had to inhale the cupcakes, and we took the kids' cupcakes to go. I'm not giving up on this place, but rearranging the shop a little to have more seating for groups larger than two (and closer to the ground), making sure there's water easily available (with cups larger than shot glasses), and figuring out a better way to display the goods for all sizes of people would've made our experience really enjoyable, rather than resulting in the kind of story I tell my boyfriend when he talks about wanting kids. Previous experience: 5 stars I went here 15min before closing, so naturally I figured I was going to get a dried out crusty cupcake because it was the end of the day. Nope. I didn't ask when they made it, but it was super moist and delicious, and exactly what I wanted at the time. Great service. Great selection. I left very happy. read more

They have all the classic flavors like vanilla, lemon, red velvet, and German chocolate. Plus, whimsical specialty cupcakes like the Donner Pass (chocolate cupcake, chocolate buttercream frosting, pecans, marshmallows, and chocolate drizzle) and Keep Tahoe Blueberry (fresh blueberry filled cupcake with buttercream frosting on a vanilla bean cupcake) give the display case a distinctly local flavor. They also have vegan, gluten-free, and even paleo treats to suit every diet; I didn't try those, but I've heard they're good. Batch is a wonderful place to get super tasty Gluten Free cupcakes! They have the full gluten ones, too....lol.... but I have only tried their Gluten Free ones. My absolute favorite so far is the Pumpkin! I had it today and OH my goodness! It's crazy good! Their prices are actually lower than I expected for gluten free cupcakes locally, too. Great, clean place and the two times I have been there so far, they have had excellent customer service. I definitely recommend Batch! If you need to eat gluten free (or even just want to for other reasons), you will not miss the gluten in these cupcakes. Tears, on the inside, because I came here within an hour of closing so, beware, come here early to try all the options! I got the s'mores cupcake (neither vegan nor paleo...healthy dessert fail). It was so cute looking! 5 stars for display! The cupcake was dense, I couldn't even finish the whole thing, as in 1 cupcake. The cupcake was definitely tasty, but I can't say it was the best cupcake ever. Again, it was end of day so I'm sure it would've been better had I snagged it several hours prior, aka before it sat on display most of the day...bakery rookie mistake. Staff member was slightly neglectful when we first walked in, but after he noticed us he was pleasant, knowledgeable and patient as my friend and I took far too long to pick our cupcakes. They're pricey, so, while I'll be back to try their paleo and sugar free options, I don't think I would go out of my way for a basic cupcake fix. read more

It's hard not to love a bakery that caters to your alternative style of eating. So yes, I'm in love with their concept. However, I wish they had more Paleo options--two is definitely not enough. My pumpkin cupcake was moist and tasty, but the coconut shreds were overly sweet and oily. I actually had an allergic reaction to the amount of sugar. I make my own Paleo treats all the time and never use two different types of sweeteners, because it's not necessary and totally defeats the purpose of clean eating. I can't say that I'll return, but it's a possibility. 3 stars because they're an organic bakery with vegan and Paleo options. read more

My first experience with Batch started off great with super helpful staff, but ended in minor disappointment. After putting in an order for 18 cupcakes for a birthday party, when I arrived on the day of the party my order was nowhere to be found. After a few phone calls it seemed that the woman who took my order either lost it or never turned it in. Thankfully I kept the receipt from when I paid, so the woman who was there on the day of pickup was helpful in putting together an order close to what I had originally wanted. Unfortunatley only one of the three types of cupcakes I had ordered were available, and another was in a gluten-free variety. Not the end of the world, but also not what I wanted to begin with. The cupcakes I ended up with were pretty good, although I can't say gluten free red velvet is quite the same. All in all, not a terrible experience, but I'm not inclined to return here. If I do I'll be sure to review and document everything to make sure this doesn't happen to me again. read more

We were so thoroughly disappointed with this bakery. My fiancé and I are planning our wedding and we were so excited to find a vegan bakery that offered wedding cakes. We are having a wedding at Lake Tahoe, but live near Sacramento, so we needed to find a bakery closer to the venue. We have been in email correspondence for months now to coordinate a tasting and discuss flavors, etc. Email responses were lacking, we would wait long periods of time to get responses and many of our questions got ignored completely. However, we chalked that up to email not always being the best form of communication and gave them the benefit of the doubt. We had set a day to pick up our tastings last weekend. We had confirmed several times when we would arrive, what flavors we wanted to try and that they would be vegan. We also mentioned that we were driving two hours each way to pick up these tastings. We arrived at the agreed upon time to pick up our tastings only to be told that the baker didn't make our tastings correctly. They had not been made vegan and they didn't have the right flavors. The woman told us she realized that morning that the order was wrong, yet she didn't call or email to let us know there was an issue, even though she knew we were driving all that way. She also said they had several other vegan flavors that morning, but she didn't set any aside for us and they had sold out. Finally she offered to make some for us, but that it would be over an hour. We explained that we were unable to wait over an hour because we had obligations a two hour drive away, back home. She told us we should just find something to do and wait. Again we explained we couldn't wait. We understand that mistakes do happen and orders get made wrong, but we just would have appreciated a call or email that morning to tell us so we didn't drive all that way for nothing. Or at the very least, she could have set aside a few other flavors. And to top it off, she acted like we were inconveniencing her. She told us the flavors we had requested weren't usually made vegan when I had specifically asked before we chose flavors. She didn't even bother to apologize at all, which would have gone a long way. After all that, we were able to try one vegan cupcake and it was very good. So we took a day or so to decide what we wanted to do and decided that we would still proceed with an order because it tasted so good. We sent an email saying how delicious the cupcake was and that we were still interested in ordering from them, we just wanted some sort of reassurance that if we placed an order for our wedding, it would be handled with a little more care. We received a response that they had booked up for the month of our wedding, almost a full year away and couldn't take any more orders. Again, we understand weddings book things far in advance, but she never told us they were almost full when we picked up our tasting a couple days ago, so we suspect that is a lie. All in all, the cupcake was yummy, but the customer service and reliability was atrocious. read more

I had a wonderful experience at Batch yesterday. I needed to buy cupcakes for my Friendsgiving dinner. The lady at the front desk was lovely and so helpful. I walked away with a dozen David and Goliath mini cupcakes - chococlate and vanilla and a half dozen assortment of large pumpkin cupcakes. I also bought a pumpkin coconut paleo cupcake for myself. I LOVED the paleo cupcake!! It was rich, moist and delicious! I hear the other cupcakes were delicious too! This will be my go to place for parties from now on! read more

I remember the chocolate chip cookie being a soft, thick medium sized cookie with A unique tasty flavor I made a special trip too fulfill my craving for this cookie but unfortunately the changed the recipe. I follow the Anti Inflammatory Protocol (AIP) to manage my autoimmune disorder and that means no grains, no dairy, no soy, no refined sugars (and plenty more things that cause inflammation). I was in Reno for my brother's birthday and my family wanted to make sure that there was some kind of dessert so I could celebrate as well. My mom and I stopped by Batch and were pleasantly surprised! The paleo cupcakes had natural ingredients that I could have! More than that, the Paleo cupcakes are incredible!! Texture and taste wise they are some of the best cupcakes I have had. And I used to be a baker!
